DMerciful:There is no empirical fact to back your claim that Delta State makes more contribution to Lagos State than any other SW State. However, I believe that Lagos belongs to all Nigerians, though it's a Yoruba & Egun land. |
AustineE1:There is something the Igbo girls too see in those men, let us be honest. An Ivy-league-educated Igbo lady is unlikely to marry a Chibuzor selling spare parts in Alaba. |
Menclothing1:That is the case. Igbo ladies like Yoruba men. On many dating platforms in the US, you would see Igbo ladies specifically indicating their preferences in either an Igbo or a Yoruba guy. It is common and surprising. It is expected that they like Igbo men, but it way too common to see them joining Yoruba guys into it. I think the tribal beef between Igbos and Yorubas is fueled mostly by men on both sides, and it has more to do with masculine ego than any other thing. The worst of the tribal beef came up last year after Obi squared up against Tinubu. Atiku that came second sef is rarely talked about. |
DMerciful:How is that your concern? Mind your business, and leave the SW to sort themselves. |
One Yoruba brother has colonized this beautiful, smart Igbo lady. Why do the most beautiful and educated Igbo ladies tend to marry Yoruba men. ![]() There are many of them here in America. You would see Ivy-league-educated Igbo women with Yoruba guy(mostly Ivy-educated too). There are more of such marriages than highly educated Igbo-Igbo marriages. |
The GDP in Naira has increased significantly in the last few months, according to IMF. However, the devaluation of Naira saw Nigeria drop to number 4. Historically, GDP rise and fall for most African countries. Nigeria has had her share in the oscillations of her GDP. Nigeria has been number 1 at various times in history, even under Abacha. In 1996, under Abacha, Nigeria was number 1 in Africa. I believe Nigeria will get back to number 1 next year or before the end of the year or when the government implement the new minimum wage. |
I read the story on Bloomberg yesterday. The projection was predicated solely on the devaluation of Naira. Funny enough, it was the same IMF that advised Nigeria to devalue Naira. Now they are projecting our GDP will reduce by 50%. The most negative part of the recent projection is that Nigeria will not reclaim the number 1 position anytime soon, i.e it will take years. We will see how things pans out. The same IMF projects our GDP to increase by 3.3% this year. We don't know what to believe. |
See format! So, if he doesn't forgive you, you would not serve his God. This is a form of blackmail sef. The guy should be severely punished and used as deterrent to other Nigerians who like to invent fake news for malicious intent. I have never seen a people like Nigerians who like to carry non-intelligent rumors about people they despise. |
Atikulated:You are purveyor of fake news. Chapel-Hill Denham was founded 19 years ago by Bolaji Balogun and two Bristish guys. I know you are still hurting from last year's election loss. https://www.chapelhilldenham.com/portfolio/mobolaji-balogun |
This is fake news carried by some obscure guerilla news outlets, run by those who still disgruntled by the last election. Chapel-Hill Denham is not owned by Wale Edun. It is owned by Bolaji Balogun. This is the profile of Bolaji Balogun on the firm's website: https://www.chapelhilldenham.com/portfolio/mobolaji-balogun. He founded this private equity firm 19 years ago. Nairaland mods should to vet information contained in threads before moving them to the FP. There is so much misinformation and fake news on nairaland these days. Unfortunately, a lot of Nigerians are too lazy to verify news themselves. |
For those who claimed to be clamoring for change in Lagos last year, this man was a viable candidate. He's Harvard educated, has multiple years of experience in the corporate world. He is a real indigene of Lagos as well. Yet, he was not heralded. Some people for tribalistic reasons queued behind Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a 40-year-old man who does not have 5 years of work experience. Most of them didn't even know that GRV existed as of 2021. Those people would be the ones accusing people who voted for Sanwo-olu of tribalism. Most Nigerians are not sincere with themselves. The reason we have Arewa, Ohaneze, Ijaw Council and Afenifere is for various ethnic groups to push their individual agendas within a multiethnic country like Nigeria. However, a certain ethnic group in Nigeria would always attack other ethnic groups of tribalism for pushing their respective ethnic agendas. Funny thing is that this ethnic group also always push its own agenda overtly and covertly. |
I am happy that a foreigner is saying this. The way Nigerians run down their country is pathetic. Even the millions of Ghanaians and South Africans who have never been to Nigeria call Nigeria a generator republic. It is Nigerians that wash their dirty linens in public. Unfortunately, some of those foreigners Nigerians ridicule their country in front go away with a worse impression of Nigeria. Some of them even think we don't have electricity at all. A Ghanaian friend of mine was surprised to know that Nigeria generates three times more electricity than Ghana generates and uses two times what Ghana uses. Nigerians need to be careful how they portray Nigeria outside. For more than 20 years, many middle-class Nigerians ran down the university system in Nigeria as extremely terrible. Yet today many Nigerian graduates are getting recruited in Canada, UK and the likes, even without foreign certificates. Nigerian graduates are still getting admissions to Harvard and other ivy league schools. I live in the US, and I am always happy to see Nigerians who graduated from Unilag, UNN etc, graduating from top PhD programs in the US and getting in to top American companies. We can disagree with the government of the day and politicians, and be dissatisfied with other things in Nigeria. However, we should be careful about how we project the country outside. Many Nigerians are too negative about Nigeria. |
SoNature:Going by the population of the two countries, UK's population is still six times more productive than China's. China has almost 20% of the world's population but controls only 15% of the world's economy. |
Kukutente23:Common! Where Fubara wan see money to do governorship campaign. He was a civil servant up till last year. Wike put everything on the line for Fubara to be governor. It's fine if you don't like Wike, but let's be realistic here. |
Your mandate? ![]() I can't remember this guy saying anything during his campaign. I am sure he did not spend any amount for campaign and mobilization either. ![]() This life is funny sha. Wike put him there to gain access to Rivers money. It's obvious that they have fallen apart. People who didn't help Fubara to get there are obviously the ones cheering him on now. Most of those people also want access to Rivers money, which they would not have gotten if Fubara was still loyal to Wike. The remaining people are supporting Fubara because of their opposition to Wike. Anyway, I don't care about any of them. God-fatherism is bad for the common people. |
yoruboid:Oba of Benin never said they own Lagos. He only said they founded it. Besides, when we say Lagos, people get it mixed up. Are we talking about Lagos State or Eko Idu-iganran, the seat of Oba of Lagos, which is not up to one local government? Can Benin claim Badagry that is owned by Egun or Ikorodu, Lekki, Epe owned by Ijebu speaking people. There are some other areas owned by Awori. What the Oba said was needless, given the political tension that occurred earlier in the year. Saying Edo founded Lagos is tantamount to saying the British founded Nigeria. Truely, there was Benin empire that spanned as far as Republic of Benin. However, the economic significance of Lagos today, has made it the beautiful bride. The Oba won't go to Republic of Benin today to say Benin own places there. |
FuckingMachine:Remove Zik from that list and replace him with Tafawa Balewa. Zik had zero executive power and he was just a figure-head. The real executive power lied with Tafawa Balewa who was the prime minister, just like PM Benjamin Netanyahu, PM Justin Trudeau, Rushi Sunak e.t.c |
mabea:Must you vote for a LP governor? I thought you guys wanted a change. There were many other candidates. Why GRV? The fact is that you had an agenda. Most of you didn't know GRV until Peter Obi won Lagos, then you felt you could consolidate on that by voting a candidate Obi endorsed. |
A good opposition in Lagos is a welcome development. I am not talking about an opposition driven by tribalism though. I have always maintained that Funsho Doherty was the best opposition candidate in the last election. However, some people driven by an unknown agenda, decided to push GRV, who at 40, had no 5 years working experience. The only shining thing about GRV was his MIT masters. Funny enough, this Funsho Doherty has a masters from Harvard himself and has several years of working experience at blue-chip companies. |
If Abacha didn't die, we might not know he stole this much. This makes me wonder how much IBB, Abdulsalam, OBJ, GEJ and Buhari stole from our commonwealth. We are not yet talking about the over 150 governors we have had across the country since 1999. Chai, Naija and Nigerians don suffer. ![]() |
Entprys:Dey there dey deceive yourself. To start with, how many of your ladies married as virgins? Was your GF/wife one? Instead of discussing the issue of infidelity and promiscuity in our society holistically, you are here tribalizing it. |
DesChyko post=126579905[b:LOL @ the bolded. There are sincerely very few honest Nigerians. Many of you that call Tinubu all sort of names are not any better given the half-truths, misinformation and intentional misunderstanding of simple facts that you have espoused over the past few months. You are here referring people to American movies. Now you know that the American system is different from Nigeria's. When CSU said certificates in America are ceremonial and have no value, I am sure you must be one of the people saying they were covering up. Many of you don't have principles. You just want to pick and choose whatever narrative that suit your agenda. Yet, you are the ones who claim to be championing a new Nigeria. |
LOVEALAIGBO:You are actually correct with the bolded part. Indeed it is the turn of the Igbos if there is anything like fairness in Nigeria. However, some of you were not brave enough to say this before the election. Rather, you were pushing Obi, a mediocre former governor, as the best thing to ever happen in the Nigerian political space. When you make argument on that front, there is no way you won't be resisted. I personally oppose Obi just because of this. I can't speak for other people who oppose Obi. Before 1999, the Yorubas were clear in pushing the Yoruba presidency. In your pride, you guys didn't do that, you only started making bogus claims and ridiculing past leaders in other parts of the country. The funny thing is that this Obi is average at best. Secondly and more importantly, the inability of the SE to clinch the presidency this time around can also be largely attributed to the way you dump your votes in one direction, sometimes in a bid to "hurt" or show "disgust" to another part of the country. After all the hate that the SE showed APC since 2014 calling the party "J@njaweed party", "Boko Haram party", "Muslim Brotherhood", and even hating on Igbo politicians in the party like OUK, Uzodinma, Umahi, you would not expect the party to zone their presidential ticket to the SE. It would be grossly unfair to the Yorubas who supported this party from the beginning and have endured 8 years of insults for doing so. The hatred of BAT by our SE brothers started just in 2014. The GEJ you guys supported has moved on with his Ijaw brothers. You guys did not. The Yorubas don't give 90% votes to anyone, and this gives them a back-channel to another party. Lastly, it is not totally fair to blame the Yorubas for the inability of the SE to clinch the presidency. It seems that the SE love to blame the Yorubas for any unpalatable thing that happens to them. Where is your anger at PDP you voted for 24 years? The least PDP could have done was to zone the presidency to the SE. They didn't and the SE people are not grumbling. Where is your anger at Atiku, the perennial contestant, for contesting at a time the ticket should be zoned to the SE. You have no problem with Atiku, but BAT. In 2014, Saraki, Tinubu, Amaechi, Atiku all joined forces to boot out GEJ. It is important to note that, of all these people, Tinubu was the only one who was never a PDP member. However, the SE forgave all these other people, but choose to single out the Yoruba man among them to blame and to hate. It's funny. |
mokwechineme:Atiku, a Fulani man, contested and came second. You don't see Fulani people grudging the Yorubas and saying Yorubas voted for Tinubu to spite the Northerners. You guys are funny. You also lack the understanding of politics and the wisdom needed to politically thrive in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society like Nigeria. Obidients have over the past few months insulted the SW and the North for voting Tinubu. These regions are the largest voting blocs in Nigeria. Yet, the same people would come out to say that Tinubu didn't win the last election. SMH. |
If PDP is serious about reconciling with the SE, they should zone 2027 to the SE. That region has been very loyal to the party, but they have always been using and dumping them. From what I see, this "reconciliation" attempt by PDP is the handwriting of Atiku (the perennial contestant) trying to position himself for 2027. |
Ofunaofu:LP and their supporters promised a new Nigeria. Also, according to people like you, APC represents everything bad with Nigeria. I expect LP politicians to be the "shinning light" at all levels. Therefore, if APC members are wasting money in buying new cars, LP members should reject such things. I am old enough to never take Obi or Atiku supporters seriously as regards their claims for a better Nigeria. I am not a kid in politics. Like I like to say, everyone is fighting for power, who wields the power and where. That is exactly why Obi became transformed overnight from a mediocre former governor to the Nigerian saviour. |
Toks2008:Some of you are just too emotional. I have been on this platform enough to know that you are an elderly person of almost 50 years. It is unfortunate to see how childish you get with your analysis at times. As far as 2023 elections is concerned, there is nothing Atiku can do to Tinubu again. So, having failed to established that Tinubu did not fake his CSU certificate, you want Atiku to start challenging how Tinubu gained admission to CSU and the information he gave as to finishing from Government College Lagos. To what end? |
BloomingDale:I studied at two federal universities in Nigeria before travelling to the US for further studies, and I can tell you that the academic structure and the educational administration in America is totally different from what have in Nigeria. When I was processing my admission, they requested only transcripts. Up till the time of graduation, the university never requested for my degree certificates from Nigeria. In fact, they don't have copies of my degrees. Furthermore, when I was searching for jobs, no company nor organization requested for my American certificate, they all requested for my transcripts. I job-hunted in Nigeria and worked from some years in Nigeria before travelling. In Nigeria, companies ask for your certificates, in America, they don't ask for your certificates, they request for your transcripts. Based on personal experience, I believe the CSU registrar who said in America, diploma (certificate) are just ceremonial and not accorded much value unlike transcripts. According to the deposition of the CSU registrar too, he never said getting replacement certification from third-party vendor was illegal. In fact, he said there was a change in their school policy that made it possible for third-party to make replacement certificates. To the best of my understanding, BAT has no problem here, except if anyone wants to intentionally misunderstand the whole explanation given by the registrar. |
ISelectMySins:I read your previous conspiracy theory. I commend your bravery in writing this post after your previous posts. Nigeria needs more people like you. |
