Technology is meant to make life easier and doesn't lead to unemployment. We just don't realize that we need to change. Without technology we all will be confined to slave labour and will not be able to meet the needs of a growing population.

When the computer came out there was apprehension that it will lead to unemployment but was that really the case? It has lead to more productivity. Once an aspect of life is handled by technology, it frees us up to be creative to open up other channels.
Instead of driving all your life, would it not be better for drivers to own their personalised apps to handle their small fleet of 4 or 5 cars for cab services than having to deal with the headache created by their employees who want to swindle them?

He just needs more motivation to quit.

It is obvious that most of those making comments are neither male nor parents. It is look of the blessings of Fatherhood.

Netflix ending 'House of Cards,' says 'troubled' by Spacey allegation


LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Netflix Inc’s groundbreaking political drama “House of Cards” will end after its upcoming sixth season, the company said on Monday, one day after a sexual misconduct allegation emerged against star Kevin Spacey.

Netflix (NFLX.O) also said in a statement that it was “deeply troubled” about an allegation made against Spacey by actor Anthony Rapp who said Spacey had made a sexual advance to him in 1986, when Rapp was 14 years old.

Spacey said in a Twitter post on Sunday that he was “beyond horrified” to hear Rapp’s story of the encounter, which he said he did not remember. He wrote that he owed Rapp a “sincere apology” for what he said would have been “deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”

A representative for Spacey did not immediately respond to Reuters for comment.

While it is not easy for employers to be changing staff it is also not easy for employees to work where their future is not guaranteed. If you are asking someone that hasn't been given an offer letter to give one month notice and this is someone that can be sacked at a moments notice how many weeks or months notice do you expect a confirmed staff to give. It is a dog eat dog world out there. Everyone is looking out for themselves without consideration for the welfare of others.

I agree with you that not all marriages of this sort have broken homes. On the issue of love, you need to realise that there is no true love without discipline. That is what is called tough love. It is the basis by which strong communities have preserved their existence by enforcing compliance with the laid down rules of the community. Anyone who doesn't comply is expelled. It is better for one man to die than for a whole nation to become destroyed.

Most of those commenting have no knowledge or regard for order and structures in an institution. That is how the minority will start condemning the pastor and when hell breaks loose in their home or society they will come back crying or accuse the pastor of negligence. The choir of a church is a leadership role. There is no institution in the world where you will be allowed to retain your position when you start fraternizing with a rival group. The very existence of that institution is at stake if they overlook such situations in the name of political correctness. Asking the church members not to attend the wedding may sound a little bit on the extreme side but if you have held the role of being a shepherd, leader or parent that does not want the rest of the people to follow the same example, you have to know when to put your feet down on certain matters. It is a sign of weak leadership when you accommodate those that swing between two camps of opinion alongside with those who are committed to the values of the institution. you are simply weakening the system and telling the committed that they can also compromise. That institution will never last.

As for the lady in question, it is her life and she is free to do as she deems fit. She would have saved herself from a lot of troubles by resigning from the choir. We have seen their types before. When the fellow marries other women or she encounters problems in her marriage she will then know why her pastor will not be able to mediate in her marriage. They are usually at the rear end of prayer meetings crying their eyes out to God for intervention.

Maina Received N22m Salary Arrears Before Recall


Abdulrasheed Maina, reinstated Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, was paid N22 million which the Federal Government deemed was due to him for the ‘unfair’ way he was removed from the civil service during the administration of immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan.

Maina was sacked from the civil service in 2013 and was in 2015 placed on the wanted list of International Police (INTERPOL) by the EFCC.

Maina was said to be secretly reinstated into the civil service, with promotion, despite being wanted for alleged corruption.

Abdurahman Dambazau, Minister of Interior, earlier on Sunday absolved himself of any culpability in Maina’s reinstatement, saying it was done by the Head of Service.

Findings by INDEPENDENT also indicated that Maina was among 260 civil servants, comprising 22 directors on Senior Grade Level 17 (SGL17), 111 Deputy Directors on SGL 16, and 127 Assistant Directors on SGL15 that were redeployed on September 15, 2017, to various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Maina, it was discovered, was reinstated long before September 15, but this event was kept in the cooler for the right time.

Besides, there are concerns over why his pay jumped that high being that he was not on SGL17 when he was redeployed into the PRTFT with a salary lower than N454, 344 monthly, which is N5, 452,136 per annum, meant for the grade.

The National Incomes, Salaries and Wages Commission which fixes salaries for all government workers has been making arrangements for adjustment of salaries and wages but still retains the old pay structure.

It was understood that his salary was stopped June 2014 with a circular from the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), when it was brought to its notice.

The Federal Civil Service Commission under section 140(b) of the 1979 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has the mandate over the appointment of “any person to an office in the public service of the federation, or dismissal or disciplinary control of officers in the public service of the federation, or any other matter which, in his opinion, affected the public service of the federation.”

The man, who was declared wanted by the police, has not sat for any promotion examination when he was an assistant director.



It has become a curiosity to observers who want to know when he was promoted to a director, and by whom.

The letter directing Maina to resume at the Ministry of Interior was written on the September 15, 2017, and was signed by A.0. Folayan, a Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Head of Service to the Federation.

Interestingly, the letter did not mention Maina or the ministry. Even a copy on the website of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation did not mention him or the ministry.

The letter with reference number HCFS/CMO/EM/CPA/908/63, conveyed the directive enforcing the ‘redeployment’ with the heading, ‘Posting of the Directorate Level in the Pool of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation’.

It reads: “I am directed to inform you that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has approved the deployment of the under listed directorate officers SGL 15-17.

“The posting instruction should also be downloaded www.ohcsf.gov.ng as no hardcopy should be accepted from individuals, please.

“All handing or taking over should be completed on or before Friday, 22nd September, 2017.

“Any disregard to this deployment shall be treated in accordance with provisions of PSR 030301 b.”

Maina’s trouble began in 2012 following an investigation by the Senate into the pension fund.

It was uncovered that a whopping N195 billion could not be accounted for.

After ignoring several summonses, the Senate on December 13, 2012, issued a warrant of arrest against Maina.

The warrant mandated the Inspector-General of Police to arrest and produce him before the Senate Joint Committee on the Investigation of Pension Funds.

The police, on February 1, declared Maina wanted, saying that he had since gone into hiding, making it difficult for them to execute the warrant.

He was an assistant director of Works in the Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Office before then.

He was also declared wanted by EFCC in 2013.

A check on the EFCC’s website still bears the information showing Maina is wanted.

By July 21, 2015, he was charged alongside Oronsaye, Osarenkhoe Afe and Fredrick Hamilton Global Services Limited before a Federal High Court on a 24-count charge bordering on procurement fraud and obtaining by false pretense.

While Oronsaye and two others were in court and pleaded not guilty to the charge, Maina was at large.

The EFCC urged anyone with information on Maina’s whereabouts to contact any of its offices in Lagos, Abuja, Gombe, Kano, Port Harcourt and Enugu or report at the nearest police station.

A statement defending the Ministry of Interior was released following public outcry that the ministry may have had a hand in his reinstatement and redeployment.

Ehisienmen Osaigbovo, the Press Secretary to the Minister of Interior, issued a statement which read: “The ex-Chairman of the Presidential Task Force Team on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, was posted a few days ago to the Ministry of Interior by the Office of the Head of Service in an acting capacity to fill a vacancy created, following the retirement of the director heading the Human Resources Department in the Ministry.

“For the avoidance of doubt, issues relating to discipline, employment, re-engagement, posting, promotion and retirements of federal civil servants are the responsibility of the Federal Civil Service Commission and Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, of which no minister exercises such powers as erroneously expressed in this publication.

“It is understood that Maina’s last posting was with the Ministry of Interior, and that is probably why he was re-posted back to the ministry.

“It is, therefore, improper for anybody to think that a minister could exercise such powers or influence the process of discipline, re-engagement, and deployment of any civil servant to his ministry or any other ministry for that matter.”

Attempts to speak with the spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, did not yield results as she did not respond to enquiries on who authorised the payment and when that was actually made.

But a source in the Accountant General’s office revealed that Maina was paid in excess of N22 million a few months ago before his reinstatement.

She said: “Instructions for his payment was long made and the man had been coming to the office long before now.

“People only got to know because he went to the office at the Interior.”

When asked if evidence of payment could be provided, she declined.

But the issue is causing ripples between OHSF and FCSC.

A highly placed source in FCSC informed INDEPENDENT that the commission was not informed, and that it was supposed to be responsible for handling Maina’s case.

It was the FCSC that ordered the stoppage of his salary.



Lawyers Kick



Adesina Adegbite, Welfare Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), said, “It shows a high level of insensitivity and irresponsibility of people in this government.

“If the past administration had declared someone wanted for corruption and he went probably on exile and tried to escape justice and a new administration has come in, rather than have him properly investigated and prosecuted, he is reabsorbed back into the system, it shows that this government is actually paying lip service to the fight against corruption.

“And to me, this is a serious let down to majority of Nigerians who elected the current leadership on the very important campaign promise of coming to fight corruption. I am highly disappointed.”

Malachy Ugwummadu, who was re-elected President of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) at its annual general meeting in Kaduna on Sunday, said, “Although the presumption of innocence under section 36 (5) of the constitution still endures in favour of Maina in relation to the allegations against him, and as far as the law relating to people who submit themselves to investigation and trial is concerned; however, he has become a fugitive, running away from possible trial, and that in itself is an acceptance of guilt.

“In that regard, there is a serious question of integrity regarding his uprightness. Such a person ought not to have been given a clean bill of health to return into the engine room of our bureaucracy where he would further corrupt himself and the system.

“This government should watch it quickly because people are losing confidence as a result of their perception of its anti-corruption campaign as being slanted.”



EFCC Launches Manhunt For Maina



Meanwhile, EFCC has launched a fresh manhunt for Abdulrasheed Maina.

Following news of his reinstatement, the EFCC leadership was said to have convened an emergency meeting on Sunday to strategise on the case.

A source noted that Ibrahim Magu, acting EFCC Chairman, convened a meeting of operatives working on the case.

Following the meeting, operatives were detailed “to smoke out Maina wherever he might be”.

When INDEPENDENT called Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson, over the commission’s manhunt for Maina, he said, “He is on the wanted list of the commission”.

Maina’s recall, promotion: I acted in public interest – Malami




The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to spare anyone found to have been involved in facilitating reinstatement into service of fugitive Assistant Director in the Ministry of Interior, Abdulrasheed Maina, describing the development as an embarrassment.

The party’s declaration came on a day the two arms of the National Assembly, Senate and the House of Representatives, asked the President to sack and prosecute Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, Interior Minister, Lt. General Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd), and all others involved in the reinstatement of Maina. Maina was former head of the Presidential Task Force on Pensions Reforms.

This is even as armed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday sealed six properties allegedly belonging to the embattled former chairman of the Presidential Pension Reform Task team, Abdulrasheed Maina in Kaduna State. Also yesterday, details emerged of how Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice bypassed the Head of Service of the Federation and used the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission to reinstate Maina.

In a formal reaction to the incident, APC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the incident as a huge embarrassment to the Buhari administration and the ruling party which rode to power on the mantra of “change.” He told journalists that the party would, however, not dissipate its energy in replicating the actions of the President who had already ordered a probe of the entire scam. “We are all shocked like any other person. It is almost unbelievable that such a thing can happen. However, we are all delighted that President Buhari has taken a very decisive, punitive action against those that are involved. “We are also delighted that he has ordered a full scale investigation into the circumstances that led to this individual being reinstated into public office. We believe as a party that whoever that was part of this or found to have been part of this must face appropriate consequences because it is an embarrassment to the party, government and it is unacceptable.

Previous probe reports

Having failed to act on previous probe reports regarding activities of the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency NIA, Ayo Oke, the APC said Nigerians must have faith in the ability of the President to right all wrongs. “I cannot comment on this because it is the same President that has taken a decisive action on this that still has the other reports. In his wisdom, he must have a reason and unless we know those reasons, we cannot come to the conclusion that he has not acted. “We have to be willing to admit that in his judgment, he does have all the facts because we are not sitting in that chair. We have no doubt in our minds that the President will do what is necessary and do what is right. “But he does not have to act because everybody wants him to act. He has to exercise the best judgment at all times. So, if we are satisfied that he is acting in the best interest of the nation, definitely we cannot continue to insinuate that he will shield these people.

“He was the one who ordered that the investigation be carried out and he is the one who ordered that the SGF and NIA boss be removed from office and we have not heard that they have returned to their duty posts. “So, definitely, action will be taken on them. I think we should just be kind and wait for Mr President to act on that before we come to the conclusion that he has not acted,” said Abdullahi. He added that the party will not set up an independent panel to investigate the incident. “Why should the party set up an independent investigation team as if it is not our government? There is no need to set up one because it is our government. “The President as the leader of the party, is not independent of the party. We are confident that the President will do what is necessary.”

Senators indict Malami, ask Buhari to fire him

Meanwhile, senators yesterday indicted the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, for being the mastermind of the clandestine return to the country and subsequent placement at the Ministry of Interior of former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdullahi Abdulrasheed Maina. Senators, who took time to speak during discussions on the point of order raised by Senator Isa Hamman Misau (APC, Bauchi South) on the return of Maina in controversial circumstances, also indicted Interior Minister, Lt. General Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd).

They also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently sack the two ministers, saying the President has surrounded himself with those undermining him and causing confusion in the country. Senate sets up ad-hoc committee Consequently, the Senate set up an ad-hoc committee to determine the circumstances that led to the return of Maina to the country and his being compensated with a position as a Director in the Federal Civil Service, in spite of the fact that he had been under watch. The committee, headed by Chairman, Senate Committee on Establishments and Public Services, Senator Emmanuel Paulker (PDP, Bayelsa Central), has as members the Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Senate Committees on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes; Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters; Interior and Vice Chairman of Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Services. While hailing President Buhari for acting promptly in dismissing Maina from the civil service, the Senate, however, said it lacks confidence in the expected outcome of the presidential committee’s report.

Earlier in his presentation yesterday, Senator Misau, who spoke under Order 42 and 52 of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 as amended, described the incident as a sad development. In his contribution, Senate Chief Whip, Senator Olusola Adeyeye (APC, Osun Central), who noted that President Buhari had it as a duty to hold the ministers responsible, said: “I remember what happened then. It got to a point when the former President of the Senate, David Mark, told the former President, Goodluck Jonathan, to chose between Abdulrasheed Maina and loyalty to the country. It got so bad that Maina had over 30 police officers attached to him. “As a member of APC, it is a sad moment. We cannot say that we want to fight corruption and have this approach. Jesus Christ said it is difficult for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle. “This saddens me and I am sure it saddens all of us. I am glad that following the outrage from the public, the President acted swiftly. We read in the papers that the rules of the civil service were bypassed.”

Also contributing, Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC, Zamfara Central), said: “I want to appreciate the person who brought this motion by exposing some dubious people in government. No family can boast of having 100 per cent good people. “APC is not an exception. We cannot attribute everything to the President. He should be commended for rising to the occasion. Reinstating Maina is a crime against Nigerians. We should approve a full blown investigation into what happened. We must not allow this thing to go unnoticed.” Also contributing, Senator Attai Idoko (PDP, Kogi East), said: “We are looking at the symptoms; we are not looking at the cause. Maina is too small to go back to office. Somebody brought him back to the office. Maina is too small; he is not the issue. We should look at those who returned Maina. “As we were told, the person who approved this thing is the AGF. The simplest thing the President could do was to terminate the appointment of Maina. That is not the issue. The AGF brought him back. The AGF has a history of doing things like this. The President should tell us what he will do to the AGF.”

In his contribution, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (PDP, Akwa Ibom North-East), said: “The Senate must investigate and bring to book any person who wants to bring this country to disrepute. We will stand with the Senate to ensure that the right thing is done.” Also contributing, Senator Tayo Alaosoadura (APC, Ondo Central), said: “The President has set up a committee to investigate. We should not call names of people who have not been indicted; we should not duplicate issues. If the executive has set up a committee, we should not do the same thing. We must not set up committees every time.”

In his contribution, Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West), said: “It is pathetic. We should continue in sin and ask grace to abound? The AGF, time after time, has abused his office. Maina did not get himself back. We should talk about the integrity of the AGF and his office. If the number one law officer is breaking the law, where is the hope? “The AGF started with the forgery case against Saraki and Ekweremadu. Something happened we have not noticed. Two public officers had issues and the AGF chose to support the Inspector-General of Police against Senator Isa Hamman Misau.
Today, it is Senator Isah versus the Federal Government.”

In his remarks, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who presided, commended senators who spoke, saying “we are all very disturbed and I would like the committee to work hard on this matter that borders on our security, corruption and how we manage the public service.” Reps also set up probe committee Similarly, the House of Representatives also set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate those involved in Maina’s reinstatement and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sacking Maina immediately he got wind of his reinstatement.

Chairman, House Committee on Public Safety and National Security, Aminu Jaji, declared yesterday that the House will, in a week fish out the security agents who accompanied Maina in a motorcade to Maiduguri. The lawmakers also recommended strong sanctions against any person or persons implicated in the scandal, including the AGF and Interior Minister. This resolution of the House was sequel to a motion promoted by Jagaba Adams Jagaba (APC, Kaduna), under matters of public importance, entitled: “The Disappearance, Appearance, Appointment and Final Dismissal of Maina.”

After the usual House procedures for such motions, the presiding officer, Yakubu Dogara, asked Jagaba to lead the debate. In his submission, Jagaba went down memory lane, reminding the House of how Maina was appointed Chairman, Presidential Task Force in 2010 to check the complaint in the country’s Pension system by President Goodkuck Jonathan. He prayed the House to set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the matter, saying “Maina came back from self-exile and was posted to his former ministry (Interior) and given double promotion from Assistant Director to Acting Director.” In his contribution, Deputy Majority Whip, Pally Iriase (APC, Owan East/West Federal Constituency, Edo), argued that “since the Presidency has waded into the matter, we should not get involved but the action of the President so far is not enough. “The embarrassment to the country is enormous and there are too many questions begging for answers, such as where was Maina before he was recalled and even elevated and not only reinstated but promoted?”

Minority Whip, Yakubu Barde (PDP, Kaduna), also spoke in the same vein, saying: “I applaud Buhari for firing Maina but there are questions to be answered which are how did Maina entered this country and he was not remanded and went unpunished. “There are too many people working against the change mantra of the government that are working with the President who want to bring down this country.” In his contribution, Victor Nwokolo (PDP, Delta), queried: “The question to ask is how did he come in, beating all our security agencies without being caught? “There is a need to also investigate all our security agencies because our borders are porous, the whole thing goes beyond the civil service.”

I acted in public interest — Malami

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, yesterday, his broke silence on the allegation that he spearheaded the recall, promotion and posting of Maina to the Ministry of Interior. Malami, who grudgingly spoke to Vanguard, last night, said he would rather respond to the avalanche of allegations against him when he formally appears before the Senate, which had summoned him to speak on his role on the entire saga. Malami, who did not make reference to anyone, nonetheless, described the allegations made against him as ‘a grand conspiracy and mischief’ but did not explain who the conspirators were and what the mischief was.

Pressed to clear himself of the weighty allegations, Malami said: “I am a legal practitioner, who is always guided by law and public interest and will therefore not do anything that deviates from the law or breaches public interest. “I believe that Nigerians are entitled to know the truth in the entire saga and I am ready to speak directly to them when I appear before the Senate since I have been summoned by the legislature, which is investigating the matter. “I will not however talk until I get clearance from my principal on the matter and I look forward to addressing anxious Nigerians on the matter when I appear before the Senators,” the minister said.

How AGF used FCSC to reinstate Maina

Meanwhile, details of how the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice bypassed the Head of Service of the Federation and used the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission to reinstate the wanted chairman of the defunct Presidential Task Force on Pensions Reforms, emerged last night. This came as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday continued with identification and marking of no fewer than six houses in many parts of the country traced to the wanted Maina.

Spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the raid on the identified properties but did not disclose nature and locations of the property. “We have continued our efforts to track Maina down and our operatives have also intensified the identification of properties which he might have used the proceeds of corruption to secure while in office,” the spokesman said. Top federal officials conversant with how the AGF got Maina back into the federal service after he had absconded for over three years, described Abubakar Malami’s action in the recall and promotion of Maina as desperate and a breach of known public service rules.

Vanguard learned that in his desperate bid to return Maina to his post, Malami wrote two memoranda to Oyo-Ita to recall Maina based on the lame argument that no court of the land had convicted him of any offence but the woman ignored him since she was sure the chief law officer had breached established rules of the civil service. The development emerged, as some Nigerians yesterday questioned the President’s power to sack Maina without referring to the appropriate government body with relevant powers to do so.

But on its twitter handle, the Presidency said Buhari breached no known law, having given approval to the appropriate government agency saddled with the responsibility of disciplining erring officials. The Presidency said: “Reports that due process was not followed in the disengagement of Mr. Maina from service are incorrect. “The President directed the appropriate authorities to effect the disengagement in compliance with due process. “President Buhari will continue to ensure that due process is followed every step of the way.” ‘FCSC letter, not HoS recalled Maina’

A top source with inside knowledge of the matter told Vanguard yesterday that Malami did not only recommend Maina’s recall, but also cleared him of any wrong-doing, thereby paving the way for the FCSC to recall him. “Look, go and read the letter recalling Maina and you will see that it emanated from the Federal Civil Service Commission and not the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation because Mrs. Oyo-Ita snubbed Malami’s two requests to recall the wanted man,” a senior government official said. “It was after Oyo-Ita had questioned and rejected Malami’s two letters asking for the reinstatement of Maina, that the Justice Minister turned to the FCSC for assistance to get his desire accomplished.” “That was why Maina’s letter of reinstatement dated September 18, 2017, and signed by one Mustapha L. Sulaiman for the FCSC chairman, was written from the FCSC, even without an input from the HoS,” the official said.

Speaking on the matter, Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigerian, ASCSN, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Chapter, Comrade Bolaji Sunday Olaiya, said it was wrong to drag Oyo-Ita into the mess created by the AGF and the FCSC in their bid recall Maina at all costs. Olaiya said: “If anybody is to be questioned, it is the man who signed the letter on behalf of the HoS, giving the impression that the letter came from the office. “The person must have soiled his hands somewhere along the line as you can see, that even the reference ‘4029’ which is used in the letter is fake and incomplete. The 4029 is not a complete reference; he is trying to mislead the public and the Nigerian people. The correct reference starts with ‘FC4029″.

“He is misleading the general public by referring this letter as if it emanated from the HoS. This letter he referred to dated 18th September; does not exist but it emanated from the Federal Civil Service Commission.”

Lies, deceit and the many reasons I want Obiano out – Peter Obi



Mr. Peter Obi’s unique story in governance is the subject of many conversations. Tales of his unprecedented frugality in the utilization of government resources have been celebrated in the media space and in hush-hush discussions. The success of his eight-year stint as governor of Anambra State was imprinted in the development of infrastructure, education, and security across the state.

His politics has, however, been described in some quarters as bordering on innocence and lacking in the sophistication normally associated with political practitioners in his native Anambra State. His innocence nonetheless, Obi was able to vanquish those that previously held the state captive. Mr. Obi who foisted a successor in the person of Chief Willie Obiano is today fighting the same man in a battle to salvage the state from what he dubs the lies, deceits of the same Obiano.

Sir, how is the campaign going?


Going on very well. Electioneering is tough, especially in our country where truth is in short supply.

As somebody who has gone through elections, I often tell people to restrict their promises during an election to what is realistic. In essence, I always advocate for respect for the truth.

I read Cicero’s Manual of electioneering written for his relative called Quintus. Cicero advised him to tell lies about his opponent and to even invent scandals – this is what I see in Anambra State.

I am at the centre of the campaign and every day they invent stories about me. They sponsored people to comment, N7 billion, and when it appeared it was not working the man in question started wondering to himself! You are left to wonder the extent people will go because of an election.

As some one campaigning for my party, I have restricted myself to the truth, and I will continue to do so. Every statement I make to buttress the need for a change in the governance of Anambra is the truth. All you hear me say about money I left; the accruals, total absence of projects, my savings, are all verifiable.

As the issue is becoming controversial, how much exactly did you leave?

There is nothing controversial about it. Some people are deliberately introducing controversy where none exists.

All my life, I have managed money. I started business early in life, right from my primary school. By the time I got to the university, I was already travelling outside the country for business. Even as a student, other students gave me money to hold for them, because they knew that with me, their money was secured.

Whether in business or government, my attitude to money remains essentially one- prudence.

Now to your question of how much I left. On the 17th of March, 2014, that I left office, I left a total of N25 billion cash; another N23,600,000,000 set aside to execute some projects already identified or to finish critical projects already on. It was part of the two- year salary for the last set of civil servants we recruited – we did so in order not to encumber the new governor. Ironically, because these funds were tied to specific projects like the Amawbia to Amansea road, the NYSC main office at Umuawulu/ Mbaukwu, the hotels, malls. We also had critical projects like the Three Arms Zone, which included Governor’s Lodge. We did not include them in our hand over notes.

So if you are talking about total naira I left, it is actually N48,600,000,000. I will give you the breakdown of all the banks. (Showed all the bank statements, account names, banks and certified bank statements.)

In dollar component, I left $156 million. We had $56 million in Fidelity Bank, $50 million in Access Bank and $50 million in Diamond Bank. Today, going by the current dollar rate, the accruals and others, the money is about N200 billion.

We laid a solid foundation for my successor to start strong. Let me give you an example, toward the end of our government; we decided to build the new three arms zone, comprising the lodge, legislative building, and the judiciary complex. We awarded the contract at N8 billion and paid N2 billion. We awarded and commenced some roads, paid mobilisation and left my predecessor to perform their flag-off.

We also did a lot of ground work in our relationship with the Federal Government in different ways. We, for instance, commenced the roadwork from the Head Bridge to Umunya, after obtaining the written permission of the Federal Government to pay us back. After that portion, we got the permission to do Amawbia junction to Amansea, which I started. Part of the plan was to do Amawbia Junction to Umunya until the entire Express is completed. We are not losing anything since we will be paid back.

There was also the dualisation of a road that we call ‘Three-Three’ (Onitsha to Otuocha Junction.) These were some of the roads we set aside money for, among other things.

The government claims you left a debt of N127 billion?

The day I left office, I did not have any unpaid certificate of work that had been executed. I did not have any certificate of supply that was delivered that was not paid for. As an accountant I expect him to know that contracts are not debts until executed. He was just trying to confuse the people through half-truths. Let him explain to the people that he included contracts yet to be executed.

When I became Governor in 2006, Dr. Chris Ngige awarded the reconstruction of Zik’s Avenue – the major road in Awka, and a lot of other roads. These were ongoing projects. Because he paid for all the certificates generated, I did not say, based on the contracts unexecuted, that he left me with debts. No contractor came to me saying Ngige owed him. Likewise, ask the governor to tell you how many contractors came to complain that Peter Obi owed them.

The biggest contractor we had when I was in office was RCC and IDC, go and ask them if I owed them. Our biggest supplier was Innoson, Coscharis, and HP. In each case, I paid them in advance. I bought over 1000 vehicles from Innoson and paid him at least six months to one year before he supplied me one; the same with HP.

As Governor, I had dedicated amount I shared among the contractors once allocations came. That was why, under me, work went on non-stop.

Immediately my predecessor was elected, I explained all these to him in the hope that if he got it right, Anambra State would be the ultimate beneficiary. I even took him to all the international partners working for us. Ironically, it was Mr. Oseloka Obaze, using his international contacts, that connected us to most of them. We went to the World Bank, DFID, UN, JICA, EU, UNDP. In fact, I explained to him our relationship with the UNDP, how, after I allowed them to use our Lodge as office after the attack on their office and how the state had benefitted much fold. Surprisingly, one of the first things he did was to issue UNDP with a quit notice.


I am trying to recall this to show you how well we meant for the success of the governor. Rather than face governance, he is peddling falsehoods against me, including the accusation I bequeathed debt to him. Ask the governor to give you the schedule of those debts.

What is happening shows the quality they’ve reduced governance to in my state today. It shouldn’t be. It’s like a situation where they say “my government was able to export vegetables worth $5 million.” Where was that vegetable produced? What was the refrigeration process? Where is the documentation process? It is like also saying “my government is exporting rice.”

You saw the president on October 1, thanking states that are producing rice, he did not even include Anambra State that is now, according to the governor, a net exporter of rice.

They say, “my government had the order to export 10 million tubers of yam,” but everybody knows that in Anambra State most of the yams we eat come from Benue and Taraba states.

I think what is happening is that in the absence of executed projects to use to campaign, as Cicero advised Quintus, they are inventing lies and dressing them as the truth. Have you asked yourself why all this controversy about the money I left now that there is an election?

Nigerians are surprised considering the vigorous campaign you did for him in 2013?

If you have interacted with human beings, you would have known enough of some of them to be shocked over what they do.

I read Philosophy and I know about Blaise Paschal, who, in his book called Penses described man as a chimera, an animal in Greek mythology that had two heads, he is an angel in one and a brute in the other. Such contradiction is what we see among human beings. Yes, I campaigned vigorously for him and everywhere I went with him, they asked me this question. I told them he would perform and if he did not, I would be the number one person to campaign against him.

How much of Obiano did you know before promoting his candidacy?

I met Obiano in the bank. I was a bank director and bank chairman. The relationship between a bank director/chairman and someone who works in a bank is not close. However, we knew each other. And I believe that if someone has risen to a certain level in life, there is at least minimum standard of behaviour you should expect from him.

How would you react to the claim by Obiano that you demanded N7.5 billion from him?

This is another regrettable lie. On 23rd December 2016, he came to my house for the first time after he became governor. He came with an ordained bishop, to plead for reconciliation and to ask for my support for his re-election bid. There, I asked him about the N7.5 billion (story of me asking him for N7.5 billion), and he said it did not come from him, that he only heard it from people.


Now he is the one saying it. I’m sure the bishop will be listening to us. And other people who have been in the same meeting with him and I where I have reiterated that I do not want any kobo from him will know that I have never, on my own honour, asked Obiano to pay me money. I have not even been paid my severance allowance since I left office, which I am entitled to. I just told you what I left in office. Nobody has ever left one dollar.

If I were desperate, I could have comfortably taken just $30 million, and it will remain $126 million. Nobody on earth will leave money and go and beg the person he left the money for to give him some.

Because I made it clear to him that I would support my party and perhaps being told that my support was critical, he now resorted to blackmail. He is doing violence to himself because Nigerians will be reading in between the lines and will know who to trust and who to deal with in the future. It is unfortunate.


Beyond the falsehoods, what other issues do you have with Obiano? I don’t have any issue with Mr. Obiano. I have issues with Governor Obiano. What ever issue we have, I have forgiven him. But for Governor Obiano, he has turned governance into what it should not be. You’ve been reading wonderful things in the newspaper, but let Governor Obiano invite you to Anambra. When I was going for second tenure, I invited journalists three months to election and we toured all the projects we were doing and the investments we had attracted. Governor Obiano has attracted $7.8 billion worth of foreign investment, can you people come and inspect those yam fields where we are going to get 10 million yams, or the Ugu field, or the rice field, or where those investments are.

What role did you play towards the emergence of Obiano as governor?

I don’t want to go about how he emerged. He has emerged and did not perform, let somebody else try it. It’s just that in this country, so many people have emerged and they did not deliver. Even in the first world, people have emerged and they did not perform and they were asked to go.

Don’t you think he has the power of incumbency to his advantage?

I’m not going to rig the elections. I have never done it before. I am only going to tell Anambra people to ask for what Obiano did in the past four years as a basis for his re-election or being voted out. How many roads did he do? Let him tell you in which town he has completed two kilometers of road.

So let Obiano tell the people the one he did that requires him to come back. Let him say how many schools where he was able to give buses.

What we have today is that if you ask him about the roads constructed, he will say Peter Obi demanded this; ask him the school improved, he will say Peter Obi that. Ask him his manifesto; he will say Peter Obi only left “near cash.”

The matter of who provided security in Anambra is being contested, what can you say about that?

Whatever is good for the state gives me joy. The person that did it does not matter.

When Obiano was coming, I was the one who told him that we had put in so much energy on security and that we had done tremendous work which he could take advantage of by building on what we had done. I told him that the monies we were leaving, he could use them to start strong. For example, the Federal Government gave us $2 billion to fight erosion. I left it for him. Within his 100 days in office, he invited MD Abubakar, the then IG, to come and take control of 50 vehicles he said he bought for police. On that occasion, MD Abubakar told him that Anambra had done well in security, that under Peter Obi in five years, they never had any bank robbery, which was constant before I was there.

Go and read the interviews of security experts who knew about the Anambra situation when I was there. Their conclusion is that what is being enjoyed today in Anambra is built on a foundation laid by Peter Obi. I did not only buy over 600 vehicles for security agents; I bought Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC)and Armoured Patrol vehicles and other advanced security gadgets.

It was I who went to the late President Yar’adua to give me permission and support to fence the army barracks in Onitsha.

These are things I did in my first tenure. I came when the issue was so critical that criminals with known names were coming and operating. I fought them to a standstill. Even Evans said I was the one who chased him out of Onitsha. But what I told the security officials was that I did not want our success to become news. Because if you are doing the right thing, you don’t have to make noise. The people will feel the success.

Director General of the Voice of Nigeria and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu, has asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to quietly retire to any part of the country of his choice and stop challenging the APC and the Buhari government to a public debate, threatening to open the pandora box on the former president.

Okechukwu told The Nation in a telephone interview that the former president cannot challenge the current government to any public debate because his government failed the nation, leaving major infrastructure to decay, while public funds were freely diverted.

He challenged the former president to show the nation any project that he was able to complete during his six-year in office as president, adding that even the development he did at the nation’s airport was not commensurate with the money voted for such projects.

Okechukwu, who was reacting to a statement by the former President that the APC won the 2015 election using lies and propaganda and challenging the party to a public debate in its achievement in office said, “Mr. President was very clear that the man left almost an empty treasury, consequent unpinned which we have a huge infrastructure deficit."

"The world knows that almost all infrastructure that Jonathan inherited went bad. We are challenging him to show us one project he completed."

"Is it the Greenfield refineries? He told us on May 13, 2010, that he was going to build three Greenfield refineries at $23 billion. The contract was awarded to the Chinese under Public Private Partnership. One was to be located in Bayelsa, one in Lagos, and the other in Kogi state."

“We challenge him to show us the three Greenfield refineries or tell us where the money he voted for the project is. I am talking at a time when our Excess Crude account was in the excess of short $17 billion. The Chinese came back and told him they were going to contribute about 80 percent of the three Greenfield refineries. We have not seen any of them."

“If we had seen the three Greenfield refineries which he publicly announced, the billions we lost in the importation of refined petroleum products and the gross unemployment engendered by the looting of that fund would have been avoided and that is what we are talking about.

“Before and during his regime, there was money voted for the cleaning of Ogoni environment that was degraded by the oil spill. It is the Buhari regime that started that project now. Did Jonathan do anything there, did he complete the East/West road? That is a road that covers the nerve center of the Niger Delta where he comes from."

“If there is any project that he promised to implement that he has done, he should tell us. Don’t forget that the average price then was about $100 per barrel. I don’t see how he can be calling for a public debate because I am talking of just one region."

“Even the development he did in the Nigerian airports, is it commensurate with the amount of money voted or the amount of money borrowed? He said he did this or that. Is it commensurate with the amount of money voted?"

“If I am in his shoes, I should retire back to the village or any city of my choice and keep my cool because if he talks of a debate, we will bring out what happened during his time."

“The fact that his wife was coming to claim $15 million saying it was out of her handwork born out of being the First Lady and a Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa state. Is it that other Nigerians are not working hard to be worth $15 million? So, let us not go into Jonathan‘s matter."

“We are not talking of Dizeani who was Minister of Petroleum under his government who failed to do anything to develop the Niger Delta, rather resorted to an illegal accumulation of wealth. I have great respect for him as a former president and being gracious enough to accept his defeat. But if he wants to open the vault, then we can go back and open the pandora box for him. So, let us leave it at that.”

APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi could not be reached for the party’s official reaction as at the time of this report, but he was quoted as saying that the former president may have been misquoted.

Bolaji was quoted as saying “I doubt that President Jonathan actually said these words you have reported because he would be exposing himself to reactions that would not be edifying of his status as a statesman by so doing. Secondly, I know the former president to be of even temperament.

“Only a few days ago, I read that he was counseling his party on the choice of Chairman and Publicity Secretary. Statements like these wouldn’t represent an example of the kind of attitude he was canvassing. But if he truly said that I will say with due respect that he may need to commission a more dispassionate study of how and why APC won the 2015 presidential elections.

“To say that APC won the election simply by deceiving the people would be too simplistic and may even be interpreted as an insult to the millions of Nigerians that voted the APC into power.”

World Bank disagrees with Adeosun on borrowing … says cost of debts not sustainable


The World Bank has disagreed with the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, on the need for the Federal Government to borrow more in order to develop the nation’s infrastructure and stimulate the economy.

The World Bank spoke through its Senior Economist, Gloria Joseph-Raji, on Monday in Abuja, saying that the cost of borrowing or paying interest on Nigeria’s debt was not sustainable as revenues to make such payment had dried up.

She spoke with our correspondent on the sidelines of the lunch of Africa Pulse, a biannual report on Africa.

Adeosun said on Sunday at a press briefing rounding off the World Bank/International Monetary Fund annual meeting in Washington DC, United States that Nigerians would have to tolerate more borrowings in the short term for the government to deliver critical infrastructure.

But Joseph-Raji said that dwindling revenues had raised a concern both at the Federal Government and the World Bank on sustainability of Nigeria’s borrowings as debt-to-revenue ratio had increased by 25 per cent within a period of one year.

She said in 2015, the country’s debt to revenue ratio stood at 35 per cent but rose to 60 per cent by 2016, reflecting a reduction in government revenues and rising debt profile, thereby raising a question about the debt sustainability.

Joseph-Raji said, “Nigeria has a decent debt-to-GDP ratio, currently about 19 per cent. It is the debt to revenue ratio that is of concern and that rate is a sustainable issue. That is of concern to us and that is also of concern to the government.

“The government is aware that the debt is looking more unsustainable from the point of debt service to revenue ratio. The estimate we had for last year at the federal level was about 60 per cent. That is coming from about 35 per cent in 2015.

“That reflects the substantially lower revenues that Nigeria recorded last year. Even among the state governments; we know that a lot of state governments are servicing a lot of debts from their federation account allocation. So, there is really going to be a sustainable issue emerging.”

The World Bank expert said she was concerned about the sustainability of the country’s debt, especially the huge domestic borrowing with high interest rate, which prompted the Debt Management Office to come up with a strategy to rebalance the country’s debt portfolio.

She said, “The DMO released the Debt Management Strategy 2016 to 2019 last year. The strategy was to rebalance the debt portfolio from more of domestic now to more of foreign. That is because of the debt servicing cost.

“Before now we had a debt portfolio of about 80 per cent domestic to 20 per cent external. We know that the debt servicing cost of domestic debt is really high. Treasury bill is an average of 18 per cent; the FGN bonds, from 16 per cent. The government is trying to rebalance its portfolio with foreign debt, which has much lower interest rate than domestic debt. That is why this year you have seen them go for Eurobonds, with a total of $1.5bn in the first quarter of the year. They also did Diaspora bond of $300m. If you look at the yield on those bonds, they are much less than 10 per cent.

“The government is aware that there is a sustainable issue and that is what they are trying to correct by taking more foreign debt.”

Joseph-Raji said in the light of expenditure exceeding revenue, government should borrow, but it should borrow in a manner that was sustainable.

Also speaking on the issue in an interview with our correspondent, the Head of Abuja office of Social Action, a Non-Governmental Organisation active in debt relief advocacy, Mrs. Vivian Bellonwu-Okafor, said the government needed to think about better ways of managing the economy.

She said borrowing $3bn from abroad to refinance local debts was replacing one evil with another evil.

Bellonwu-Okafor said foreign borrowing would invariably lead to annual debt servicing in hard currency to foreign lenders.

She said, “The $3bn debt refinancing arrangement, as proposed by the Federal Government, does not solve the country’s rising debt problem; it merely trades one evil for another.

“Borrowing longer-term foreign loans to pay off maturing short-term domestic debt, instead of taking actual steps to gradually reduce and exit debt overhang, is a demonstration of poor economic management.

“Several developing countries have adopted far-reaching domestic strategies to mitigate the effects of international market shocks and global financial crisis. While countries like Malaysia are increasing internal investments to develop their economies and make them as independent and vibrant as possible, rather than shrink deeper into global financial waters, Nigeria seems to be doing quite the opposite; preparing frameworks and opportunities for more foreign exchange and capital flight from the country in annual debt servicing.”

In another telephone interview with our correspondent, a financial expert and associate professor, and Head of the Department of Banking and Finance, Nasarawa State University, Dr. Uche Uwalaka, said there was no doubt that Nigeria’s debt to revenue ratio was high.

According to him, the use of the index is a better way to measure a country’s capacity to pay debt and interest.

Although he said that the country hardly had any better option than to borrow, he insisted that debts should be tied to projects that were self-liquidating.

He said, “There is no doubt that the country’s debt burden is high going by the debt to revenue ratio. There are other measures of the debt burden such as the debt-to-GDP ratio, which is currently around 18 to 19 per cent.

“External debts are cheaper to service especially when they come from multilateral sources. The attention of government has shifted to foreign debt. I am in support of government’s plan to borrow $3bn to refinance some local debts. What is important is that the National Assembly and other agencies should focus on is the monitoring of what we do with foreign loans. This is because foreign loans also have their own risks such as shock in exchange rates.”

Uwalaka said other options to borrowing such as sale of national assets, increase in taxes and printing of money were not viable in the present circumstances of the country.

The Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on Tuesday, reported the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ajimobi told State House correspondents that he called the President’s attention to the face-off between him and the monarch over the recently reviewed Olubadan Chieftaincy declaration.

He said he also called the President’s attention to the fact that the crisis created by the review had been politicised, having been hijacked by a politician who is interested in his office.


The governor said he, however, assured Buhari that although the Olubadan deserved to be deposed based on his actions, he would not remove him because of the father-son relationship between them.

Before we get to that point let’s examine some recent history. When President Buhari came to power in 2015 Mr. Baru was the most senior GED within the NNPC structure. It was he who made the initial recommendation to the president on the needed reforms that the government initiated.

Mr. President however chose to appoint Mr. Kachikwu a private sector guy (he is rumored to have been recommended by TY Daniuma) and Kachikwu was given a dual role of not only the Minster of State (MOS) and Chairman of the NNPC board but also made NNPC GMD, given him unfettered powers.

Now the first thing Kachikwu did was to post Baru the most senior GED away from the NNPC to the Ministry as Technical Adviser Gas a more or less redundant position. For the whole year Baru was there he had no office. The joke was that Kachikwu’s. people would see him loitering around the ministry and say “Oga wetin be dat your name again? Minister say make we find you office”.

On the reforms Baru initiated in the NNPC Kachikwu added two principal things: he renamed the GEDs as COOs and changed the reporting structure of the GGM NAPIMS and GGM NPDC who historically reported to the GED E & P who then reported to the GMD to report directly to him Kachikwu as GMD. Baru reverted the NAPIMS and NPDC structure back to status quo because it delayed their work having to report to GMD (whose desk was already full) and he re-Christened the GEDs as GED/COO when he came back as GMD.

While Baru was in the wilderness, Kachikwu loomed large. He appointed new GEDs now COOs and and bestrode the industry. But rumors started to fly about “business”. His brother who was a known wheeler dealer in Abuja became the go to guy and began to call shots. Nothing is hidden under the sun and when information began to filter to the villa even though perhaps not with enough proof the FG now felt it was unwise to create another “superman” like Dieziani who controlled everything in the industry, they chose to revert to status quo and divide both positions.

The Minister is the bigger post theoretically and Kachikwu got that. The GMD reports to the minister but in reality that is where the “pot of soup” is. Any minister needs to be in a good relationship with his GMD otherwise he will be “empty” if you know what I mean. Well as fate will have it, it was the same Baru who was treated with disdain by Kachikwu that now got the GMD position by virtue of his seniority.

The truth, Baru and Kachikwu are barely on speaking terms. If Kachikwu needs anything from NNPC he goes through Rabiu GED E&P who was he (Kachikwu’s) appointee but that is a function of the personal relationship between both parties and the history of how he was treated. Rabiu himself needed to be careful so as not to offend the GMD his immediate boss while seeking to please the minister. The real struggle is about resource, it always is.

Both have being firing memos to the presidency reporting each other from day one. This I understand has culminated in the decision that they would both go. Baru also is battling personal problems including severe health challenges. The announcement of the shake up in the industry is expected to be have happened before the independence holiday.

So no surprises that that memo leaked now, I am confident that memo leaked from the MOS office and it is a face saving, pre-emptive action against a known outcome. So now for those who always seek the TRUTH they can now understand the WHY and HOW. As expected people will put all sorts of spin to the situation but this is the real situation.

Both parties will leave in the next few days, I will put a dollar on that and people are just saving face. The pot of soup in that industry is too large that even an angel will stain his white garment with oil if appointed which I suspect is why PMB retains the substantive Minister portfolio. In fact there are no angels in our public service. Most screaming now will line up with application for allocation if whoever is in power is their person.
Let’s not be fooled, Nigeria will be great again.

$25b: NNPC’s probe likely as Buhari meets Kachikwu




The President will today meet Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, The Nation learnt last night.

The minister has alleged that $25billion contracts have been wrongly awarded by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group Managing Director Dr. Maikanti Baru.

Kachikwu wrote President Muhammadu Buhari on the “bravado management style” employed by Baru as a result of which he has sidelined the minister and the board of the NNPC on matters they should take decisions on.

Baru remained silent on the allegations yesterday.

The Senate also yesterday expressed shock at the allegations. After a debate on a motion on the matter, a panel of senators headed by Senator Aliyu Wammako, was raised to investigate the matter.

The meeting between the President and the minister is expected to be on the issues raised in the August 30 memo.

There were indications last night that the Presidency might probe the allegations against the GMD.

Besides, it was not clear yesterday if Buhari got Kachikwu’s memo.

A source, who pleaded not to be named because of the “sensitivity” of the matter, said: “The President will have a fact-finding session with Kachikwu on some of the claims in his August 30 memo. The President and cabinet members were shocked by the issues raised by the minister.

“This audience is already in the schedule of the President today. Kachikwu will have the opportunity to explain what went wrong in the NNPC and the insubordination of the GMD.

“For instance, the issue of lack of access to the President and sidelining him are really strange. Buhari wants to go into the details.”

The source added: “President Buhari does not condone indiscipline. There is a high probability that some of the allegations were not brought to his notice.

“The real questions are: Why did GMD Baru sideline his supervising Minister? How did Baru get approval for the contracts? Could he have misled the government with a cover-up memo? Did anybody or group take advantage of the President’s medical trip?

“The Presidency may probe these allegations against Baru”.

If the issues are true, said the source, the President may take some drastic measures.

“The Presidency will certainly not spare the rod and the President is determined to get to the root of the $25billion contracts,” the source said.

A shocked government official said: “It is evident that there are some moles in this government. They want to do everything to pull down this administration.

“After addressing the key issues, the government will also ask the appropriate agencies to probe the leakage.

“If the minister is culpable, he might be sanctioned for alleged violation of his oath of office and oath of allegiance. The days of moles in government are numbered.”
