sppecie: Hi Team

I have been following the posts discreetly for the past 7 months and took the best advice
from the group. This is the first Time I m posting on Nairaland.

My wife and I landed safely in the US in August and we are waiting for the arrival of my baby in October
in LA, California.
We are using a Nigerian Dr with more than 30 years practice in the US.

His charges are as below:

Prenatal Care & Delivery (Dr's fee): $1500

Caesarian Section Deliver( Dr's Fee): &2500

Vaginal Delivery (Hospital Fee) : $3000- 1 Day Stay

Caesarian Section Delivery (Hospital Fee): $5000 - 3 day stay

Other Extra Cost to you: Paediatric care for new baby, Lab Test and Ultrascan, You and Your baby's extra need

The Dr has fuly furnished accomodation at Inglewood, Downton LA, Long Beach
but my wife is staying at Inglewood, 2 min walk to the hospital she's planning to use at LA.

The furnished accomodation will cost $1200 per month. The accomodation is 3 bed Townhouse with seating/parlour downstairs,TV, internet,

kitchen utensils, etc

My wife currently is satying with another lady that came from London to deliver.

If you are interested to have your baby around LA, let me know and I ll send you the Dr's office phone and flyer.
(I m NOT sure if it's ok to post the flyer here)
Thanks
Thanks for the info and congrats in advance on the birth of your baby. please you did not state how much these "extra costs" would amount to. Kindly keep us informed so that we can have an idea of the total total costs so as not to get any surprises. Thanks again.
Travel › Re: Usa Visit Visa by dotunbond(m):
favored gal: @dotunbond: True, its a difficult situation, but you can still get it. You are married now and you probably have a good job and hopefully have been to other countries(if you havent try and visit at least three countries before you reapply)

My advice to you will be to fill the form like you wont have the opportunity of an interview.

For instance in the column they say have you been refused a visa before and reason. State yes, you'v applied twice and you'v been denied twice because of your dad. However you feel your situation is different...you have a job earning x amount while your husband earns x amount...and have no intention of absconding to face uncertainties.

You have also been to x no of countries and you have never overstayed your visa

Put everything you can put to show you have ties to naija on your form cuz you may not have the opportunity to say it at the interview and apply with your husband

This is what i did when filling my husband's form. He has a pending approved f4, so he already even had a documented intention to migrate and has been denied thrice prior to getting it last month. Goodluck
hello people, i've been thinking a lot and reading previous posts. Don't you think my own issues will affect my husband's chances of getting a visa? we do not have kids yet and we are both applying for a visa of which the intent is for me to give birth in the US but my husband would only stay for the birth and come back to nigeria. Wont that seem like we are intending immigrants concerning my history with my dad and all? But if we go individually, we can each serve as ties to Nigeria to the other including landed property and the rest. Since they feel that because my dad left and dint come back, i'd do the same, if i apply alone, they should be convinced that i'd at least come back to my husband with the baby. i could be wrong oo. Any comments/advices. Thanks.

uchetobi: Is ca carlifonia? 15k is expensive o! I have a friend that gave birth in the catholic hospital in carlifonia for about 5.5k in total.

Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by dotunbond(m): 2:10pm On Sep 20, 2013
But there are very few posts on L.A, California. please anyone with specific information should please share. i have a long list of hospitals in LA county but you can only communicate by telephone and even when you call the hospitals, because the fees are charged separately, they only give you the hospital fees and keep referring you. This can be tiring and leaves room for miscalculations and the possibility of paying more than budgeted. So please if anyone has specifics, i'd be very grateful smiley Thank you.

@ all; this has been very informative. Thank God for all of u. Congrats to all new moms and all the best to all new moms to be.
@emispackage; congrats. i am so happy for you. I hope mine would be as smooth as yours was IJN. i was denied visa before i got married because my dad went on a tourist visa years ago and didn't come back. Now that i am married, i do not know my fate. Travelled with hubby to dubai in january too but i dont know if that would be enough to convince them. Advice from pips is dat i should travel to 2 more countries before i apply again. All preparations and plans i am making now is just in faith oo. Anyone with advice(s), please do tell. it'd be very much appreciated.
@ ringofGod; please what specific catholic church hospital are you using in LA and d specific costs please? i would be very grateful.

Thanks in anticipation.

@ favored gal; thanks a lot. Will do. One last question tho, when next I'm applying, do u advice that I still put my dad's address as where I'd b staying in d US or I should go 2 a friend's place in anoda state? Could dat also improve my chances?
Travel › Re: Usa Visit Visa by dotunbond(m): 6:05pm On Sep 10, 2013
Hi all,
please i need some advice. i applied for US visa last year before i got married and during the interview i was asked if my father was a citizen and i replied "yes" which was also what i filled in my form. The CO den replied saying "your dad left nigeria with a visitor's visa and didn't return". I was lost for words as i didnt know anything about my dad's application or that his decisions would affect me. So i was denied a visa and when i asked the reason y, he just passed me a paper that stated general reasons why one can be denied a visa. I reapplied the next month because i was baffled and thot mayb i was to defend myself and prove that i was coming back. I also sent an email to stating everything that happened at the first interview and my amazement at the fact that i was denied because of my dad. The next interviewer i had the following month was a lady which was nice and to cut the long story short, i was denied again and when i asked her to give me the real reason, she said because of my dad and so i asked her "that means i'd never get into the US" and she replied saying it will be very difficult. hmmmmm embarassed cry.
Now i am married and i still wish to go to the US and possibly give birth in the US but have no intention whatsoever of staying there. Any advice on what i can/should do plsssss would be very much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

The question now is what can we do to stop to stop this extortion, the rates are getting high and we just keep lamenting cos they know there is nothing we can do.
We need to make a move, this is corruption, there is no accountability and the fixed charge has really not been used for electricity improvement.

La Parisienne: You gotta be kidding me. Did you read his post at all? Maldives, Paris and Venice, with his budget?

Maldives is crazily expensive, same with Bora Bora, Fiji, Tahiti etc. He'll be looking at about $7,000-$10,000 for airfare, hotel and food for 2 persons for 7 nights!!! Lol

I know this because I've been looking at Maldives for my future vacation.

Paris can be cheap if you know your way around and stay in small boutique hotels. But airfare from Naija, food and tours will still cost him a lot more.
Venice is out of the question for him. Nice city but costs an arm and a leg!

@OP
Zanzibar can be done on your budget. You don't need a visa before entering, but you'll pay for it at the airport.
Dubai, Botswana, Egypt, Dakar, Turkey, Berlin, Prague, Budapest etc can be done on your budget with proper planning.
I'm a travel enthusiast. Let me know if you need more help.
am taking you up on the help issue if u come up with any package within my range just hala

Congrats on your wedding!

Politics › Re: What Exactly Will Western Countries/imf Gain From Fuel Subsidy Removal? by dotunbond(m): 9:48am On Jan 07, 2012
@Beaf,
65% of the UK's exports to Nigeria are refined petroleum products. Thats just one example of what would be lost by the West through the removal of subsidies.
Those who talk about the West gaining from the policy are quite daft.
I curse the day you were born, Bastard.
