I don't know why, but I don't seem to take a liking to Senegalese musicians except for cheikh lo.

I will admit I haven't probably given Baba Maal a good listen.

Ismael Lo, probably Tajabone is the only track I have really liked, and Mory Kante(is he from Guinea) is too popular, but i need to get into him deeper i guess. Yeke Yeke of course is everywhere

I personally prefer Malian musicians for some reason.

I don't know if you are into Habib Koite's music. The guy has to be one of my faves

http://rapidshare.com/files/46714905/081_-_Habib_Koite___Bamada_-_F_ly__CD1-_07_-_Imada.mp3.html

The guy that plays the balafon in his band is something like 70 yrs old. Reputed to be the best in the world

If you can pass on recordings of this Pa Sussou. Sounds like someone I would like

Well I have been seeking new arenas of music.

I think i sampled one track featuring sambou susso. A bit too modern for my liking.

I quite like the sounds of the native instruments, the kora especially.

There is this drummer with Habib Koite, that plays this little drum held like a small handbag. The man is amazing.

I don't know if you recognise what I am describing?

Tosin Jegede is now in the Uk, i think recently completed her degree in Engineering at University of Bristol.

Might be married as well. Must ask her mum.
Sports › Re: Chealsea, Will They Win The Priemiership This Season by doyin13(m): 6:38pm On Aug 01, 2007
The reason chelsea lost the premiership last season believe it or not was their defence. For the period when they lost Terry and Carvalho, they couldn't get adequate replacements, as Boulharouz turned out to be a dud.

Whether their challenge is stronger this season will depend on how Ben Haim(lack of pace) and Alex(lack of concentration) cope with the premiership

They should have also gone for McCarthy as well.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by doyin13(m): 12:24pm On Aug 01, 2007
@Jackal

But you should not forget that this young defenders went to stanford bridge last season and should have been victorious.

Even the much maligned Senderos who is Drogba's boy coped well.

I dont see them as the worst replacements in the premiership

Pertaining to McCarthy as well. This guy definitely is not afraid of the big stage.

I will admit I haven't seen much of Huntelaar, but I reckon he is still a gamble.

Berbatov on the other hand is not an out and out scorer. He is simply a taller Rooney.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by doyin13(m): 11:41am On Aug 01, 2007

Alex likes them young eh.

Remember Laurent Blanc and Fabian Barthez. Well perhaps there has been a change of policy.

@justkunmi

all i can say is the boy has not come on strong at all.

I saw him first eons ago in the youth and then reserves, and he looked real good. But playing for the first team he looked out of place, without a hint of promise. Guess that's y he got shifted.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by doyin13(m): 11:20am On Aug 01, 2007
@Jackal

I don't know y you didn't go for a cheap option upfront like Benni Mccarthy.

He is a good scorer both inside and outside the box. So if Ruud could score so many goals from just being a goal mouth scorer, imagine what McCarthy could do.
Sports › Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by doyin13(m): 10:50am On Aug 01, 2007
@Ruudie

You would have loved Alex Corretja

He also had a penchant for fivesetters. Well he never won a grandslam. Only two french Open finals

I think the women's game is 3/4's a joke regardless of what anyone says. Jankovic is no.4 in the world but her serve sometimes barely goes over 90mph!!!

@viee

gasquet did alright at wimbledon

s/f was not bad
Sports › Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by doyin13(m): 4:29pm On Jul 31, 2007
Well Berych has more than the serve. He also is a good returner. You have to to have a winning record against Nadal. He just needs to learn not to go for too much and he will come on strong.

I class Baghdatis with the likes of Murray, guys who are just below the top echelon.

Gasquet is also quite dangerous, altho everytime I have seen him play Nadal he doesnt seem to believe in himself.

Tsonga is another player who has all the tools but goes for way too much.

But if Safin could take the game seriously I take him over anybody anyday.

@Henin haters.

How can you hate on Henin. Her backhand is the most beautiful stroke in tennis, man or woman.
Sports › Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by doyin13(m): 4:10pm On Jul 31, 2007
@ Ruddie

I don't know abt Baghdatis. His serve is not that good. He is not the most athletic either.

I still reckon Tomas Berdych will emerge as the top player soonest, cause he has all the tools.

Kinda reminds me of Federer who had all the tools but no control. Once Berdych gets to grip with that he will be dangerous.

Other player to watch is Mario Ancic.

My heart feels for Davydenko though. Such a hard worker.

and the guy seems to b a showoff.

he tested the waters at wimbledon when he threw his shirt to the crowd.

had navratilova swooning

and consider she is not that way inclined
Sports › Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by doyin13(m): 3:45pm On Jul 31, 2007
Men make Nadal and Federer run far. Like say na only them two dey play tennis.

By the way, you ladies, una no hear Djokovic talk say he go strip naked whenever he wins his first grand slam.

Would have thought that would have you rooting for him.

Abt Daventport. She has a replacement already now. Ivanovic plays so much like her its unreal. Improvement in the looks department as well.

Mayo tested positive for EPO.

I think a few years ago he was leading the tour until Armstrong took over as usual.

By the way where is Ullrich?

One would think with Armstrong away from the scene, he would be supreme contender.

Well it is quite baffling that the man is still in prison while all the others are freed.

I dont want to stir the ire of my Igbo cohorts but I simply find his whole 'project' disingenuos' and ultimately harmless, hence his release would not cost a thing.

Frankly I don't see anything alarming in what she said.

She was probably implying that she doesn't do as Africans do, hence the example of her relationship with her parents.

But the fact that she is promoted as a Nigerian writer says a lot I think.
