Pretty amateurish from Ancellotti.

Drogba has no business on the field, his goal notwithstanding.

The ball is not sticking up front, and his movement or non movement off the ball
is aiding the Hull defence.

And he has just fallen for the biggest fallacy in all of football:
Pack all the attack minded players into the field and they will
surely get you a goal. . . . . Never mind they are likely to get
in each others way.

My My My. . . .Malouda don dey chop winch for ball sha.

Been impressed with him the past few games. Seems to be
making better decisions in general play.

He just needs to get rid of the periodic brain farts he gets
when he gets close to goal.

Despite Drogba's goal, if I were a Chelsea fan, I would rather
Anelka spearhead the attack. I just think the team flows a lot
better in the final third. I know all that talk about natural striker

Quite a transformation this. . . . Arsenal used to be by far the fastest team in the premiership.

Now, even Park is making them look like slouches.

I don't think this team is that far behind United or Chelsea to be honest. Unfortunately
they have not shown up on the big game days.

But there are certainly some worrying signs. Clichy has been poor the past few games
and Sagna's lack of attacking nous is starting to hurt especially when you consider
Arsenal's poor use of width at the best of times.

The midfield issuses have been well rehearsed. The team needs someone to break up
the opposition's rythm. Song is good but would be better if he had a Mascherano alongside.

Walcott is a dud, well as used by Wenger on the wing at the moment. There is a school of thought
that suggests he is ideal as a striker, and that argument might have some substance, be that
as it may, the chap simply doesn't fit into the mold at Arsenal.

Kevin Martin is a talented scorer but his defence is atrocious. The Kings were a lot better
with him injured than on the floor. They lost a lot of intensity and unlike Tyreke Evans who
takes it to the whole, bloody idiot heaves shot after shot after shot starting from the dressing
room. Nocioni would not help either. The team is defensively strong enuff as it is.

There was a time I loathed Mikel for shunning Nigeria, but now he's my second favourite eagles palyer, after Osazee and if I see anybody beefing Mikel again, the person will have me to contend with.

Enyeama showed great composure and confidence(see the way he rushed the ball from the Zambian keeper,as if to say sebi you don score me,oya gimme the ball make I score you back one time if you tink say na only you sabi score  grin grin grin)

The whole lot of them were useless.

Last Sunday we drove up to Rick Warren's Saddleback Church in Orange County, a collection of affluent, politically conservative suburbs south of LA. The model of a modern megachurch, Saddleback boasts over 112,000 "unchurched occasional attenders" as well as 22,800 active members – many initiated in the temperature-controlled baptismal pools on its 120-acre campus.

Megachurches are market-driven. They study demographic data and plan marketing schemes tailored to their local target audiences. The oft-cited example of a target profile, developed by Warren, is Saddleback Sam: "A well-educated young urban professional … [he] is interested in health and fitness … but is overextended in time and money, and is stressed out. He carries a lot of debt, especially due to the price of his home. He is married to Samantha, and they have two kids, Steve and Sally."

Judging from Saddleback's promotional literature, Sam and Samantha have an insatiable appetite for therapy and self-improvement. Saddleback offers a generic "Celebrate Recovery" programme and customised support groups for "ADD Adults," "Diabetics in God", "Families with Incarcerated Loved Ones" and victims of other ills.

We entered the Worship Centre, an immense auditorium shell, where Warren was preaching from a stage at the front, where an altar might have been. Saddleback assiduously avoided traditionally churchy architecture, costume and decor. Its campus was relentlessly quotidian, designed to suggest the shopping malls and office parks where members spent their time during the week.

Warren described Saddleback's programme for "spiritual growth", with numbered headings. Spiritual growth, he explained, was (1) a lifelong process, (2) measured by obedience, (3) based on God's word and (4) would set me free. Free from what? From habits, hurts and hang-ups, from painful memories, worry, bitterness and guilt. How would I achieve that? According to Warren, Jesus had the plan. At Saddleback, he assured us, we would learn to follow his plan "systematically, sequentially and in a process" through the classes Saddleback offered.

This is the future of middle-class US Christianity, according to the latest American Religious Identification Survey (Aris). If the trend identified in the Aris study continues, we will see a country divided between conservative evangelical Christians and secular liberals – the latter hostile to religious belief, identified with evangelical Christianity. This is bad news because popular evangelical Christianity is religiously vacuous. It is directed to secular ends which, arguably, should be promoted by secular means. Saddleback is religion for people who don't like religion: transcendence is not on the menu.

Although almost half of Americans say they have had a religious experience, mysticism is likely a recondite taste. For the minority who have that taste – who seek God as an object of contemplation – Saddleback has nothing. Evangelical and mainline churches promote activism and are contemptuous of navel-gazing.

As a navel-gazer, I was depressed by Saddleback. It seemed the butt end of Christianity: stripped of history and icon ography, wholly immersed in its secular surroundings, constructed according to a business model and promoted by motivational speakers – bland, cheerful, dull.

We drove away, past immaculate housing estates and strip malls iterating chain restaurants and shops, replicated in every suburb from coast to coast. I wondered why anyone would want to live in that charmless place, much less to get more of the same at church.

Politics › Re: LSHA Gives Fashola Go Ahead To Donate $1M To Haiti by doyin13(m): 5:49am On Jan 21, 2010
Fact is, all countries that have made one form of donation or another could
have found some use for the funds in their locality.

The city of Detroit I am sure could use 100 million dollars to keep a few of its
citizens off the dole queues.

Japanese citizens who work countless jobs yet can't buy decent health insurance
probably could have had the donations their government help reduce their insurance
premiums or accomodation expenses.

How about the countless Chinese citizens who despite their nations ostentatious display
of its new found status live on the margins without any cover if things go wrong.

I can understand those who argue not against donating but the amount donated. But still,
whatever is donated will always turn out to be an arbitrary figure. Assume he had decided to donate
one hundred thousand dollars instead, I am sure a few would have come on here and mocked the donation
as being too paltry.

These are tax payer funds alright and we have to trust the judgement of our elected leaders to do what is right.
If you don't like the use of the funds, you simply have to suck it up and wait to excercise your powers at the ballot box.
And if patience is not one of your strongest virtues, round up like minded fellows, get marker pens on cardboards and hit the
streets. I bet CNN and BBC editors would have enough fodder regarding that stingy terrorist West African nation.

Sports › Re: Nigeria Vs Mozambique African Nations Cup 3-0 by doyin13(m): 3:39am On Jan 21, 2010
Everyone's right about Yobo being a defensive liability but he is still
undoubtedly one of our more gifted players (a noticeable decline in speed
notwithstanding). I suggest we move him up the field into defensive midfield
actually where his intermittent loss of concentration might not lead to immediate
catastrophe.

The midfield is still our problem area. Don't see how any combination of defensive midfielders
Amodu is chucking in there will work especially up the field. We need a midfielder proactive in the final third
and neither MIkel or Keita and definitely not Etuhu will provide the support upfront to the lone striker Amodu is intent
on playing.

And please, Chidi Odiah should be playing. He is too gifted an attacking fullback to be on the bench.

One positive for me from today. No Kalu Uche. The guy is wack. WACK WACK WACK. A ball juggler maasquerading
as a football player. I suspect Amodu has him in mind as the creative engine in the middle of the field. One of the
reasons why he shouldn't be coaching us at the World cup.
