Me or the owner doesn't matter.

Anywhere there's a trading activity, such place is a market. A market can be so small, can be so large, may not have a physical or central location. So long as there are buyers and sellers, a market is birthed.

So Nairaland is a market. In fact, it is one of the reasons it was created - consciously or otherwise. You bring people together with same or common interests. I'm on this thread to find a buyer (for my $100 Neteller) and someone like 3rnest (with him alaroro price) is looking for a seller. If our terms match, we'll trade.
you don't seem to get it. I won't go any further.

Sir, Nairaland is a market, it's a market place.
People come here to buy and sell. That defines what a market is.
who defines what it's basic function is? you or the owner?

I believe a set of people are responsible for this "rethink" of free escrow services due to their bad manners to those that offer such humane services. For someone to offer to help you secure your funds from scavengers, you don't need to be told how nice, compensating and appreciative you should be, a little percentage won't hurt you as much as if you lost everything.
BusinessRe: ➜ ➜ ➜Currency/E-currency Market Deals➜ ➜ ➜ by dragnet: 8:09am On Dec 18, 2016
I would have loved to escrow all or most transactions here If I could escrow all transactions and remain anonymous(some people do know me here but of course they know I hate being named), but my type of lifestyle doesn't allow for such. for example you can hardly get through to me on phone amongst other things... Lol.
Why exactly do we want to deviate from the normal escrow being run before? is it due to transfer limits? or bank alert fees? or?
Remember once things start getting complex then there are more things liable to breaking and once you start getting paid for a service, you start getting liable.

Thanks dragnet. Dominique was also tagged. We want every support from all and sundry just to stop or at least minimise scamming on the thread. My WhatsApp is full of different complaint on a daily basis.

The worst part

The same scammer will be scamming like 4 different people in the same week. My heart aches and I ask myself why? why can't we come together and solve this problem. After all, there is no problem without solution unless we have not decided to stop it.
nairaland is a forum not a market, unnecessary noise about this may attract wrong attention and may even get current activities proscribed.

I'm responding because I was tagged in one of the posts otherwise I'll rather not air my views about the escrow issue, paid or not but as a moderator even if this isn't my jurisdiction, I'll advise that you duly consult with dominique who can in turn get direct opinion from Seun about this in order to know nairaland's stand on it but there's an overriding disclaimer anyway...

it would be useful for those sending money home but the rate at which they'll be credited may not be as sweet as using other means but at least it'll be safer.

Ok, so the matter has been settled, albeit partially (so it would seem)

Now for those who do not know, here is the truth of the matter: those who take cash deposits in the yankee would attest to this:

Only on very RARE occasions do you get the requested cash deposit @ the time you make the request. It is usually delayed, sometimes the delay could take few days, sometimes a week or more. Now whilst tooltip erred by not informing on the 2nd deposit (although webcontractor would have us believe otherwise) it still doesn't change anything cos every business has its kinks and that's how yankee cash deposits work...to a large extent. Those who are involved in it would know.

So on this score, elot's claim is baseless...@point number 1

Point number2: there are inconsistencies in elot's claims (and I'm really surprised people are not seeing it or choosing to ignore it)

*elot claims he can't withdraw so as not to get flagged: this is bull and a manipulation of the truth. I have done withdrawals of same amount deposited same day and gone ahead to remit the said funds to concerned parties. Flags only go off when such deposits and instant withdrawals become too frequent, especially if they are $10k and above. This is the actual fact, so unless elot is saying he does such on a regular basis, of which he should have jst come out2say so, which tooltip from all his conversation and utterances, which points him out to b a perfect gentleman (no let ur head swell, I jst dey talk wetin I c, no b say I dey pay u compliment: cos u never agree2sell me dollar for once undecided )would have understood and most likely agreed with.

*elot claims he has over 110k customers and moves $50k daily...from same said account he is afraid to get flagged cos of $5,400. Like I always say: wisdom and foolery are very easy to spot.

*elot is hinging d price of the $ on his sale of btc. Now my question to elot is this: if btc suddenly soars and he starts selling at 560/btc$, and tooltip now says he should remit@ 520/$, would he say: tooltip, u b correct guy, chop knuckle, I go forward@520/$ to ur account? An agreement is an agreement and what he is doing is simply a breach of contract.

One business has nothing2do with the other, what you use the dollar for is none of your supplier's business. Even at that, you are buying dollar@445/$ and selling btc@ 480/$ that's still 35naira on every single dollar and you are here screaming blue murder cos you are no longer making the 110/$ you are used to? Haba! It's business there are highs and there are lows, you still aren't making a loss, all you'll need to do is adjust small. Besides, there are a million and one ways to use btc outside mmm. Go figure! You are a business man, guy do some research, it's what keeps every business alive.

To all those wey dey talk say make tooltip collect the bar@420/$ @justi4jesu, bookiemart01 and crew: I have just 1 question, biko make una ansa am: if una b tooltip, una go collect am?

We know what you guys would do if the situation were reversed o, well at least, as far as bookiemart01 goes and ur statement actually shocked me! For justi4jesu, I wasn't surprised, it was expected.

Another shocker I had during this whole saga I got courtesy of none other than...dragnet! As in, I shock! For the very 1st time in my nairaland existence, drag baba and I are actually on the same page on an issue with same opinions! @dragnet: did you go on holiday or something? I swear, I'm loving this new improved version: dragnet 2.0 grin abeg chop knuckle baba! If to say you no be Muslim ni, I for send black label.

To cap it all: like I have always said: communication is key! @elot, you need to improve on this area, your integrity is tied to how you relate with people.

Even assuming tooltips money ain't clean (pls note: I said assuming, for the simple sake of argument: I am not insinuating nothing) and as a result he can't get d feds involved, 1single anonymous call or tip can have your whole life in the US crumbling like a pack of cards. I have personally seen this happen. So please be careful.

And to all my fellow NLders, when issues like this come up, biko let us try to mediate appropriately and not sit on the line of personal favors. Like signapore01 would say: some peeps be commenting like dem dey get nude pictures. grin cheesy

@onatisi, biko no quote me and tell me to enter the wall o, seems dat has become ur favorite slang now.
The truth will always be One, but point of view usually varies and is always responsible for varying opinions, in this case I believe we may have viewed it from similar perspective but it's a bit boring when everyone just agrees easily, the back and forth is usually interesting when it's being done intellectually cheesy .
Good you know I'm a Muslim otherwise na you and your black label go enter the wall.

this issue is simple, elot should return the dollars immediately if he can't pay for it as at when tooltip requested and I'll advise tooltip to go after him with whatever means he can, why? Because of elot's attitude to the issue from his responses, it's disgusting!
I believe I mentioned this earlier, tooltip should go after elot with any means possible, you're holding his funds, using it for business which favors you at no percentage of it goes to him, yet you choose to hold on to his funds and think you can dictate anyhow.

Someone on this same thread dey owe me 150k for paypal he sent me that is still hanging, I didn't open thread for him YET and it's been 3 days already but i just have that trust for him because we have been dealing before now. I have countless issues that are better off solved than brought to Nairaland.

In business deals, things get hot. Temper flare and what not especially when one party feels he is being cornered.

Imagine the amount of stress on a person who has over $50,000 worth of bitcoins in a crashing market and someone is trying to force him into a deal he didn't solicit for.

Yes Elot was rude. But we're not kids. We can read in between the lines.
You seem to be turning the tables at tooltip, elot isn't being cornered, tooltip gave him escape route, he asked him to send back if he can't pay for it. Agreed, elot claims he doesn't want his account flagged, I don't want to believe there's no way he can go around such policy if he really wants to.

@dragnet i agree that the second payment was made before i was able to stop it

Saying he will pay next week does not hold water

Elot made a payment to my account this morning for 4000$ @445#/$

I strongly disagree to him saying he will pay me next week at 420#/$....why cant he pay today especially as he has been selling his bitcoins

i didnt source the $ at that rate and the owners of the funds need their cash asap and not next week

Elot i have appealed to you to do a $ cash deposit today in the usa for me or send the # naira cash deposit at 445#/$

When you mistakenly paid in money into my account i quickly did a transfer to you without much ado

Stop witholding the money...return jt back immediately or you pay me the naira equivalent
I understand your part but what do you think/say about his claim of not wanting his account to be flagged?
