Thats a wrong logic. It takes one person to start a fight. The person may be out of the fight while other aggrieved parties continue brawl. Germany was defeated, but the other stakeholders like japan continued causing terrible destruction to Pearl Harbor. Without Japan’s surrender, the war could have continued unabated.

In addition, Russia alone did not end the war in Europe. It’s a coalition of Britain and Russia with other European allies.

Germany surrendered in May 7, 1945 while the war continued till September 2, 1945. Four months. Without the atomic bombing, the war could have continued much longer without Germany.
