As I was looking at the picture, I nearly wanted to ask you where you mounted your GP tank, I quickly remembered you are not with us. MackyNaija: It's coming along nicely but they keep pushing back the expected completion date. Not a problem for us, our own na make them finish am make we move in.
All the bricks should be done by now, cabinets installed, walls painted, base boards done, trims and doors all installed...
This week na for vinyl flooring and bathroom tiles.
Next should be marble countertops, Electrical trims (sockets, switches etc), final plumbing (faucets, shower heads etc) and HVAC trims (ac vent covers etc). |

I would have tagged someone as regards the highlighted part but I don't like looking for trouble MackyNaija: 1. Nobody can predict chances. There are high possibilities depending on your course if it's in the sciences. I have very very strong faith in Phd Electrical Engrg or Phd Computer Science and their affiliated minors. There are many routes to permanent residency in the US.
But do not discount coded courses e.g Phd Material Science. All this might mean something different depending on your course, work experience and specialization.
2. I can bet my kidneys that the US is the most immigrant-friendly country in the world today. I can see many many job openings every day, if you have the right skills or you can even build them during your studies, you'll get a job. Some skills are in higher demand than others. Germany also has a language barrier.
Hope I have been able to convince and not confuse you with my answers. |

You don't have an "immigrant visa," what you have is a "non-immigrant visa." Provided your passport has been stamped at the port of entry and you didn't overstay, you can go to any state in US including Alaska and Hawai. philips3: Good day everyone, please I need your advice. I have USA immigrant visa. Is it possible to go to another state in the US that is different from the address and state I used in my application and during my visa interview without negative effect at the port of entry in the US? I intend to move from Nigeria to the US. |

Pix C is what our street looks like now, in just 3 months the home with an arrow costs over $50k extra on the base price. Taken Feb 26th 2022.

To be very honest, Twoods has not in any way derailed the thread. The thread is about sharing thoughts and experiences and that's exactly what he is doing. If you have contrary views to his argument, you can equally counter that constructively just as he has done. Or are you against freedom of speech and expressions. Well, I wouldn't be surprised because your role model, Donald Trump was always attacking those who oppose his views including the media and I don't know the last time Joe Biden attacked the media because they had contrary views from his. If not for the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 passed by Democrats, you wouldn't have been in America today. We will be glad if you can tell us what Pro-American republican has done. We are all here to learn not to feel intimidated by someone else constructive view. MackyNaija: Hi Justwise, I have never had any issues with anyone posting here but Twoods is violating Rule 1 by derailing this thread.
He can create a topic and call me out there and that wouldn't be a problem but he is distracting those interested in some of the nonsense I have to say here. |

But you can still get some nice ones also beyond Lagos business school towards Sangotedo side. I stay at Alasis just opposite Lagos business school. Secondly , you might also consider MARYLAND which is on the mainland. It has good roads , constant light and security too. Agents may not give a honest feedback. I'm also considering olokonla/sangotedo since is around Lagos business school but nothing beyond sangotedo. Which good estates in sangotedo would you recommend? |

Those same US citizens were once illegal immigrants excepts those born in US. Even those born in US by foreign parents still cheat the system. Imagine, Linda Ikeji's child being born in America but raised in Nigeria but will tomorrow want to be treated better than those you call "illegal immigrants" that's working hard to build America. Can't you see how unfair the system is. Paccus: Nobody is criticizing illegal immigrants.. Who he’s Criticizing is the Californian Government... Californian government offer free/cheap housing + Medicare to illegal migrants while having hundreds of thousands of Us Citizens homeless and paying high health insurance while increasing the tax rate for Citizens so they can do more for illegal immigrants .. California have 20% of the total homeless population.. what are the government doing about it??... I have close friends who have migrated to the USA through illegal migration and I pray for them to Prosper there but I won’t support a government abandoning its citizens so they can do more for Illegal migrants because they want to earn the applause of people as being kind..However I don’t support the Gun Laws in states like Texas.. A weapon that can kill someone easily shouldn’t be easily accessible |

Exactly, I said earlier, I'm only against immigrants who commits crime in America. America is a land of opportunity for those with positive mindsets of being very successful. signature2012: Without those illegal immigrants, you won’t be where you are today. You being opportune to Mary a USC does not give you the right to reducible illegal immigrants. The so called Trump you support employs lot of Illegal immigrants from Mexico for cheap labor.I have a video to confirm this.
Most of the unskilled jobs in America are done by Illegal immigrants.(eg) Construction. In as much they don’t commit crime,I see no reason why they should be condemned.
FYI,Donald Trump wife was an illegal immigrant before she meet him and they got married.
Some of the top richest Americans today were children of illegal immigrants. |

You have never heard a gun shot since your stay in America but you are advocating for open gun carrying and you also want to buy AR15. You are indirectly "illegal" because you lied to the VO during your visa interview that you would come back to Nigeria to work after your studies, just for you to get your F1 visa but you rather married a citizen and adjusted your status and preconceived intention is "illegal". Please tell me, is telling lies "legal" in America embassy. You would have told the VO that you would adjust your status after your studies so you will completely "legal" by saying the truth. Don't take it personal. Please try not to be too holy while forgetting you have benefitted from such system you are against. MackyNaija: This is true as even in my entire stay in the US, I have never heard a gun fired.
There is a hugeee difference between legal and illegal migration. Every country has laws and these laws have to be followed otherwise there will be chaos.
I didn't write the laws that classify people without legitimate visas or grounds for stay as illegal immigrants, every country in the world should strike out laws pertaining to illegal migration, scrap the border officers (including those at airports), then open up their borders and make it a free for all!
Immigrants built America so everyone should be allowed to flood in? If it is illegal for Nigerians to fly to South Africa without a visa, why then should it make sense to anybody that the US southern border be overrun by ILLEGALS! It's a law and I didn't write it!
Remove sentiments and politics and think about this in neutral light. If given the chance, I'd also like all my families and friends in Nigeria to come to the US tomorrow morning. |

How efficient is using electric car (not necessarily hybrid or plug-in hybrid) in terms of durability and cost of charging the battery because you did complained of high cost of fuel in california. MackyNaija: I am working on escaping the $5,200 charge for ending our lease in California.
There must be several options I have thought to myself... So I set out to discover new things.
Will send an update on lessons learned whether or not it works.
I don officially escape California finally. |

Congratulations! Yankee is not about who you know in top positions but what you know. Truly is a land of opportunities. How about the T€sla position you applied. MackyNaija: You are very right! The plan was to chase the same salary I was earning in California or slightly less but it happened way better than anticipated. Truthfully, I got "lucky"! ***WHERE luck = "opportunity" + "preparedness"
Gist deh: First stage: HR Questionnaire with over 10 questions on why I am looking for a new job and how my experience fits into each of the job requirements. (very easy, no pressure)
Second stage: Hiring Manager Asked behavioural and general questions + one rugged brain teaser about light bulb and switches (my head wan catch fire) She gave me a hint and I answered the question. (relaxed $ easy)
Third and Fourth stage - Technical, Wednesday and Thursday: Senior QE (about 8 yrs experience) and Principal QE (about 25 yrs experience). The 4th stage was more relaxed! Person wey go give you job no go stress you! (normal difficulty for both). I knew that if I passed this stage, I'd get the job.
Up till this point, I was interviewing for the Senior QE role. The decision to assign you to the Senior or Principal role would depend on your ability - Na then I sense say hot pepper deh wait for me for front.
Fifth/Final stage: Senior Quality Manager and Director of Quality... I was called on Friday morning around 10 am by the manager to see if I could fix the last video interview for the same day...
***I had previously learned on Nairaland that when an Amer1can asks you "Can you get this report ready before close of work?" (No be question them deh ask you), it actually means "I need this report ready BY the close of work".***
...the Director wanted to go on leave and he'd like to conclude the interview if I was available and the Hiring manager said "you cannot prepare for an interview like this so moving it to prep will not help you, its either you know it or you don't".... Na so our two burst laugh!
The interview: Case Study (very high pressure) The package holding the question and spreadsheet was sent 10 minutes before the interview (Nothing like take-home presentation). Here, nobody can save you, if you no know am, you no know am and you die well.
It was an excel sheet of data that had to be analyzed: Chai! My bread and butter! Same shi I have been doing almost every day and at a minimum thrice weekly for the last 24 months!!!!!
**I started.. shared my screen and had to say my thoughts aloud so they could access my problem-solving/data analysis skills... Na this kind thing I deh like, interview to separate wheat from chaff. Test of true ability.
In 30 minutes I was done with the analysis and summarized my findings which I sent as a mock email to a VP.
Kai! I struggled to hold back tears of joy on the video call as I knew I had blasted it!
The Director said Excellent! They had used this same data for multiple people and no one had ever analyzed it like this. Oboy! Cold catch me... That was when I realised the position of Principal Engineer was looking possible. Principal level is a role that requires 8 to 12 years of pure QE experience but I had dismantled it at roughly 7 total years of experience, - less than 3 as a QE!!!
When I hear the salary on Monday morning as HR call... my brain jam! Wayyyy over $100k. If you know how much G-wagon be, na around that amount be the salary or solve the math below. If G-wagon = $x , 'Hammer' Factor, Y = 0.95 to 1.15 and Macky's salary, Z = $x * Y Find Z [abeg forgive my nonsense equation, na over happiness cause am] I don hammer for this country! An amount I never thought I could earn as an annual rate in my entire career as an Engineer here. Words cannot express the joy!
The future is bright. We are overjoyed! Paccus, manage this pishure! Cali Gas price na $4.69, Texas Gas price na $2.49.... Everything go deh on sale for Texas!!! |

I remember back then when working in an oil company is the second best job in Nigeria after politics. The moment you mentioned "my uncle or brother is working with Shell or chevron" automatically, you are big boy. Today, technology is the new "oil." How about that your friend that you told us then that was working with an oil company over there. MackyNaija: Call it bias or whatever you want but I'd say: go for Industrial Engineering. After Computer Sci and Electrical Engrg, I believe Industrial Engrg is the next best course in Engineering with lots of opportunities.
Luck also follow for the matter, I have been told of a naija Bsc Petroleum and yankee Msc Petroleum guy that got a job here as an Operations Manager in Amaz0n Supply Chain operations. On a good day, that should not or would not happen. |
