Its amazing when you see people using public wifi on secured sites. Anything you enter including passwords to bank apps and other details about yourself can easily be obtained by the admins. I dont even use my office wifi because I am that paranoid about my online safety.

Certainly, the value of those plots in those estate will appreciate exponentially in 5- 10 years time. You also need to regularly update existing and new subscribers on those other estates.

Yes, I stopped marketing this and other lands in the hope of some appreciation before making more sales. I even tell people who call on phone that there are no lands to sell at this moment. Raising funds by selling lands just to do a fence won't change much in my opinion. What I need is real buildings rising in these estates not just fence. It might be a better strategy to wait and watch for sometime.

I am looking for a land where buyers can build immediately after purchase, and I have my eyes everywhere, including Awka, Owerri and Umuahia areas but lands are now costly in many places.

Having estates where I wait for development of roads is not the way I planned this, I need to do something big, and I am bidding my time and keeping more funds around till when I will move for a new Land where we can build.

You seems not to be marketing the unsold plots and I believe many don't still know you have unsold plots available and also regular updates like this on this estate, Ugwuomu estate and Isiagu-Awka estate will be a welcomed idea for existing and new subscribers.

It's sad really. But it's high time I started to open up on the true position of things, and maybe help clear some misconceptions people might have about land business and the way I play these things.

1. Only about 18 plots were subscribed in this estate.
2. Only about 11 plots has been paid in full
3. About 6 plots have not been paid in full (owners still promising to pay up later, 1 subscriber was refunded when he had some money problems.
4. I have collected from subscribers, about a total of N19,536,250.00 from the first day till today.
5. Total money paid cash for purchase of this land is about N29,000,000.00 (agents money inclusive)
6. Total money paid to lawyers and surveyors is in excess of N4,000,000.00
7. Total money used for traditional rites, and other settlements is about N2,000,000.00
8. I had settled the tax authorities for my companies income tax with nearly N1,500,000.00 (although this one will be shared by Ugwuomu estate)
9. I will not cut expenses for meetings with several elders and youths, plus a lot of other costs I won't remember now.
10. Neither will I count my fuel money and other expenses. I have no staff on estate payroll so no expense on that one.

I have clearly spent much more than I collected, and continue to fund the deficit with my own money, because I am desirous of retaining some of these plots remaining for myself and the company. I can even commence the fencing and pay the community this month, because I still retained some funds from last year for that purpose which I planned to start this January, till I discovered the leadership issues in the community.

I have prepared 11 original land deeds, in favor of all who paid fully for their lands, I have dispatched about 8 documents to their owners and received acknowledgements from them. 3 documents are still in my office awaiting dispatch when the owners need them.

I note the need for quick development, but sadly, it comes at a huge price, especially if you are the pioneer. I am choosing to follow things as they happen, the whole lands around here has been sold to other estates and bodies and we all are waiting for a development promised by Sullivan Chime, an industrial city nearby. Getting a good access will raise the value of a land, more than a fence will. This is business strategy and I am conserving funds in readiness for the most important things.

Like I said before your intentions are good just speak for yourself.Well for one the black race needs to look at each other as one. We need to unite. My opinion is that the solutions are stronger family structures and stronger economics within the black community which can only happen if we bridge the gaps between all people of African descent.
The challenge is how do we do that, which was one of the motivating factors of me starting this thread.

We're only seeking for solutions not criticism.

Ok I will explain. If you dont know already I'm black American. With my personal experience on this site, when conversations like these come up 90% of the time it is done with the intention of sh$/ starting. What ends up happening is a conversation of group a is better than group b. The person that started this conversation did this on another thread also and it ended the way I described. I'm not here for that. At the beginning of this thread a person was offended when he perceived that his country was being portrayed in a negative light by other posters.I respect that, which Is why i choose to not be part of those kind of conversations on either side. The thread is supposed to be positive in nature and to bridge both cultures.

I've been trying to correlate this article with the subject of discussion. I'll be glad if you can help me out.

Speaking of good news, the govt shutdown has ended. Govt workers like my aunt will be soon reporting back to work. She is relieved. She was forced to use all of her vacation time. This is a wake up call to alot of people in the U.S. since the average American is 1-2 paychecks away from homelessness.

The official rate of unemployment in America has plunged to a remarkably low 3.8%. The Federal Reserve forecasts that the unemployment rate will reach 3.5% by the end of the year.

But the official rate hides more troubling realities: legions of college grads overqualified for their jobs, a growing number of contract workers with no job security, and an army of part-time workers desperate for full-time jobs. Almost 80% of Americans say they live from paycheck to paycheck, many not knowing how big their next one will be.

Blanketing all of this are stagnant wages and vanishing job benefits. The typical American worker now earns around $44,500 a year, not much more than what the typical worker earned in 40 years ago, adjusted for inflation. Although the US economy continues to grow, most of the gains have been going to a relatively few top executives of large companies, financiers, and inventors and owners of digital devices.


America doesn’t have a jobs crisis. It has a good jobs crisis.

When Republicans delivered their $1.5tn tax cut last December they predicted a big wage boost for American workers. Forget it. Wages actually dropped in the second quarter of this year.

Not even the current low rate of unemployment is forcing employers to raise wages. Contrast this with the late 1990s, the last time unemployment dipped close to where it is today, when the portion of national income going into wages was 3% points higher than it is today.

What’s going on? Simply put, the vast majority of American workers have lost just about all their bargaining power. The erosion of that bargaining power is one of the biggest economic stories of the past four decades, yet it’s less about supply and demand than about institutions and politics.

Starting in the 1980s and with increasing ferocity since then, private-sector employers have fought against unions

Two fundamental forces have changed the structure of the US economy, directly altering the balance of power between business and labor. The first is the increasing difficulty for workers of joining together in trade unions. The second is the growing ease by which corporations can join together in oligopolies or to form monopolies.

By the mid-1950s more than a third of all private-sector workers in the United States were unionized. In subsequent decades public employees became organized, too. Employers were required by law not just to permit unions but to negotiate in good faith with them. This gave workers significant power to demand better wages, hours, benefits, and working conditions. (Agreements in unionized industries set the benchmarks for the non-unionized).

Yet starting in the 1980s and with increasing ferocity since then, private-sector employers have fought against unions. Ronald Reagan’s decision to fire the nation’s air-traffic controllers, who went on an illegal strike, signaled to private-sector employers that fighting unions was legitimate. A wave of hostile takeovers pushed employers to do whatever was necessary to maximize shareholder returns. Together, they ushered in an era of union-busting.

Employers have been firing workers who attempt to organize, threatening to relocate to more “business friendly” states if companies unionize, mounting campaigns against union votes, and summoning replacement workers when unionized workers strike. Employer groups have lobbied states to enact more so-called “right-to-work” laws that bar unions from requiring dues from workers they represent. A recent supreme court opinion delivered by the court’s five Republican appointees has extended the principle of “right-to-work” to public employees.

Today, fewer than 7% of private-sector workers are unionized, and public-employee unions are in grave jeopardy, not least because of the supreme court ruling. The declining share of total US income going to the middle since the late 1960s – defined as 50% above and 50% below the median – correlates directly with that decline in unionization. (See chart below).

Perhaps even more significantly, the share of total income going to the richest 10 percent of Americans over the last century is almost exactly inversely related to the share of the nation’s workers who are unionized. (See chart below). When it comes to dividing up the pie, most American workers today have little or no say. The pie is growing but they’re getting only the crumbs.

Over the same period time, antitrust enforcement has gone into remission. The US government has essentially given a green light to companies seeking to gain monopoly power over digital platforms and networks (Google, Apple, Amazon, Facebook); wanting to merge into giant oligopolies (pharmaceuticals, health insurers, airlines, seed producers, food processors, military contractors, Wall Street banks, internet service providers); or intent on creating local monopolies (food distributors, waste disposal companies, hospitals).

This means workers are spending more on such goods and services than they would were these markets more competitive. It’s exactly as if their paychecks were cut. Concentrated economic power has also given corporations more ability to hold down wages, because workers have less choice of whom to work for. And it has let companies impose on workers provisions that further weaken their bargaining power, such as anti-poaching and mandatory arbitration agreements.

This great shift in bargaining power, from workers to corporations, has pushed a larger portion of national income into profits and a lower portion into wages than at any time since the second world war. In recent years, most of those profits have gone into higher executive pay and higher share prices rather than into new investment or worker pay. Add to this the fact that the richest 10% of Americans own about 80% of all shares of stock (the top 1% owns about 40%), and you get a broader picture of how and why inequality has widened so dramatically.

Trump-Juncker 'talks about talks' met with scepticism

Another consequence: corporations and wealthy individuals have had more money to pour into political campaigns and lobbying, while labor unions have had far less. In 1978, for example, congressional campaign contributions by labor Political Action Committees were on par with corporate PAC contributions. But since 1980, corporate PAC giving has grown at a much faster clip, and today the gulf is huge.

It is no coincidence that all three branches of the federal government, as well as most state governments, have become more “business-friendly” and less “worker-friendly” than at any time since the 1920s. As I’ve noted, Congress recently slashed the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%. Meanwhile, John Roberts’ supreme court has more often sided with business interests in cases involving labor, the environment, or consumers than has any supreme court since the mid-1930s. Over the past year it not only ruled against public employee unions but also decided that workers cannot join together in class action suits when their employment contract calls for mandatory arbitration. The federal minimum wage has not been increased since 2009, and is now about where it was in 1950 when adjusted for inflation. Trump’s labor department is busily repealing many rules and regulations designed to protect workers.

The combination of high corporate profits and growing corporate political power has created a vicious cycle: higher profits have generated more political influence, which has altered the rules of the game through legislative, congressional, and judicial action – enabling corporations to extract even more profit. The biggest losers, from whom most profits have been extracted, have been average workers.

America’s shift from farm to factory was accompanied by decades of bloody labor conflict.

The shift from factory to office and other sedentary jobs created other social upheaval. The more recent shift in bargaining power from workers to large corporations – and consequentially, the dramatic widening of inequalities of income, wealth, and political power – has had a more unfortunate and, I fear, more lasting consequence: an angry working class vulnerable to demagogues peddling authoritarianism, racism, and xenophobia.

We're just curious to know the reason why most black Americans are average, why they don't go beyond being famous in only sports or entertainment. We want to see more black Americans as investors, investors, entrepreneurs and global leaders just like the Indians and Chinese.

It is the environment that controls the mindset, if you are in an environment filled with negativity your mindset will be attune to it, and vice versa.. One of the problems i have noticed in the black community is a "GENERATIONAL MINDSET" due to their environment (sphere of contact) which has grown to be a culture for them, it is passed on from generation to generation. They look down on themselves and blame Racism/white supremacy for their misfortune. More so most of them dont have a Father figure in their lives, most grew up with a single mother, and their Daughters also do same having children with no father which is hard for this young kids to think out of the box cos their environment does not encourage analytical thinking.

I believe the issue is more of mindset that than environment. I wasn't born with a silver spoon, yet I've kept my dreams alive and never to settle for less. I have read several books which has helped shaped my mindset and given me different perspective and to be very liberal in conceiving ideas. I may not be where be where I want to be, but am getting there. When ever I remember the story of Chinedu Echeruo who sold his sofware to Apple for $1b, I believe can achieve even more than that. Is a pity that the blacks are not goal oriented and innovative.

I always talk to these little kids when I have the chance and I am hurt by their goals which are very modest. The change has to start from the parents and family in changing the mindset of the next black generation in the US.

I have been pondering seriously over this. Is as if there is a conspiracy over the black race. Hardly do you see a black inventor or tech entrepreneur but rather, they are known to be sportsmen/sportswomen, musicians, dancers or basketballers. Is it actually the environment that has so much influence on the blacks or the wrong mindsets. I'm hopeful that one day there will be black tech entrepreneurs in silicon valleys, if a black man could be a president then certainly the black race can achieve anything.

So presently I am in Missouri for a project, I have traveled 70% of the entire state but I noticed something about black and white environment. I was in an all white region around Hannibal , kingdom city, I went to do some shopping at Walmart and its was pure white folks , everyone minding their business a serene environment , clean and no hassles.

I traveled to another region I didn't know it was mostly a black region , when I got to the Walmart at that location it was chaos , loud mouth, weirdos,thugs, heavily armed police on the scene etc. I began to think personally that there is a big gap betweeen black and white in all ramification of life.
