You can see that Google services were blocked in mainland China and moved to Hong Kong and their market share also declined after blocking Google in China.

Lots of opinion pieces about that online.

Im sorry to agree on this one that Google works in China. Even using Virtual Private Network is a crime in China. I see no much difference in what China is doing and North Korea.
radautoworks:

It's not the intellectual property theft. It's the censorship. As it is Weibo, Baidu etc have to acquiesce to government demand and censorship. That's why Google isn't as active. They are there though.

I was reading online today and found out that Baidu, the equivalent of Google and the largest search engine company in China has its research facilities in Beijing, San Francisco and Seattle and yet Google doesn't operate in China. What does the US gain from Baidu doing business in Us when their own tech company can't operate in China and also considering intellectual property theft which is one the reasons for the trade wars between US and China.

Just imagine, becoming a manager with just o'level certificate whereas in Nigeria that can't be possible if one doesn't have an MBA. This shows that experience and integrity matters more than one's certificate in the US.
FrankNetter:
I recently went to one Burger King (at Matteson) to get some food and I ran into an old time manager who I worked with a few times. When I used to work at Burger King (at Chicago heights), she wasn’t traditionally working there too but she got transferred there a few times when we were short on managers. So they would call her to work a particular shift for that day.

When I walked into the store she was excited to see me, I was shocked and surprised. This lady is older than I am, so I was wondering what the ruckus was about. She then asked me if I’ve got some time to spare that she needs to talk to me. I only came to get a chocolate milkshake but I told her I got a few minutes. Long story short, she told me she was being transferred to “my store” (at Chicago heights) to work permanently as the general manager and that she would like me to come work for her as a shift manager grin.

I was excited at first but I didn’t give her an answer. I told her we would speak on the phone. She gave me her number.

After a few days, I called her and after the regular formalities, I asked her what the pay rate would be, she said $11.50/hour when I start, then $12/hour after 30 days. I tried to bargain with her to increase it, citing my reliability and work ethic. She refused to succumb. I then told her to give a few more days to think about it. But I never called her back.

I don’t think it’s a good deal cos when I used to work there, the managers at suffer a lot. If someone doesn’t show up to work, you have to help out fill in the space, if food or money gets missing, na you dem go hold, if a customer wants to be rude, na you dem go insult.

The major thing that made me reject the offer was the pay. I could waltz into any nursing home or hospital to work as a CNA (I’m still a Certified nursing assistant, remember?) and start getting paid $13/hour for much less work but to pay someone $11.50/hour for the workload at Burger King is unfair. Maybe that’s the reason they are short on managers

This law is very bad, how can it be inhumane and against their will to keep people who are mentally unstable and need help in a facilty.
OyinbowithaTan:

Quasi political. People started saying that it is inhumane to keep crazy people in a facility. Also laws were changed that made it more difficult
to commit someone to a facility against their will. USA is loaded with these old hospital facilities that are vacant. They look like this,

Why was the mental health residential facility ended
OyinbowithaTan:

Not all but a lot. Big opioid problem. Also there used to be large scale mental health residential facilities in the USA. That largely ended by 1980.
Patients now get drugs to offset the problems, then when they stop taking the drugs they can't function.

What a system that favours some class of people.
Babyvet:

No some people are homeless because of debt and individualism. If one has high levels of debt compared to income ,credit it propbaly poor which limits your access to housing . If you lose your job and can not afford to make rent or mortgage pavement after a certain period you may lose your home . Without family or friend support , you may lose you may end up homeless.

Your last line statement is unfortunately untrue. Most of those big businesses are one man corporation, other people people who are there as board of directors are there for employment sake not necessary for team work. The final decisions are always made by the sole owner.
stonemasonn:
lol, but the reason humans are the most successful and progressive species is because of their ability to work together for a common goal. Their is even a myth in the Bible about the Tower of Babel, God was so worried about the capacity of human achievements when working as a team, he decided to afflict them with different languages cheesy.

The American system like the Tower of Babel God encourages individualism, that’s why many Americans are laden with debts and some are homeless.

Nigerians in diaspora have a lot to learn from the Jews and Asians.
Although I see some of the traits among the Igbos.

I really concur with you. What am simply asking are for possibilities of getting seed funding for startup not funding for expansion. Could it mean that sourcing the seed funding is near impossible for an immigrant starting a business.
Nig4Greatness:
....
This is where I question your knowledge about managing a business,if you ever being to a business school before I really wanna know what you were taught there.
You haven't heard the journey of a thousand miles starts with a step before ??.
Have you read how Microsoft and others even Jumia started business at all ??.
I doubt if you have started any business yet you are dreaming of getting million dollars funding (for ideas that are only existing in your head) from where exactly??.
Those multi million dollar businesses started as an ordinary or average business, the same little begining you despised so much.
Well it's good to dream but making those dreams a reality is another thing entirely.i wish you well.

Its unfortunate that many Nigerians in US won't form an investment community like the Asians are doing but rather will think of fellow Nigerians to dupe
radautoworks:

They're not getting government funding mostly. They form community groups that lend money to each other to set up (a lot of times interest-free). Same as the Asians in Texas and Muslims. Unlike Nigerians who try to take the JJC for what he has, these groups help you get a job, housing, transportation etc when you arrive and take care of each other. You hit the ground running. The wealth stays in the community. That's how they take over entire neighborhoods.

Yes, speaking from MANY experiences. unfortunately as someone else mentioned, I'm leery to deal with Nigerians overseas and a lot more cautious with them than other people.

This is exactly the answers am seeking. Are these situations intentional to make the black disadvantaged.
grandstar:

Black Americans are not as well educated as other races bar native Americans.

A good number don't finish high school which is their secondary school.

70% of black kids are born to single mothers and the men turn to crime in large numbers.

56% of black men in the city of Baltimore between the ages of 18-35years is either in jail, on parole, on probation or in prison at any point in time.

Jumia recently raised $700m funding from Goldman Sachs making it a unicorn valuing the company at $1.2B. This is an african company being funded by foreign financial company. I can tell you that foreign financial institutions are willing to invest in any viable idea in an emerging market even in the US. They are simply there to make money from ideas.
Nig4Greatness:
....

In as much as I love your enthusiasm and your optimism about your dreams and aspirations, you should know that those expectations are not just easy to come by in reality.
There are stiff competitions everywhere for funding and some of the conditions attached to such would probably turn You to slave working for them indirectly.
Beside, how many venture capitalists as you called them are ready to throw their money on some untested ideas and do you expect Canada to throw open their borders just because you have an idea ??..if you think in that direction, then rude shock awaits you.
Even when we talk about how easy it is to get loans from banks in the US doesn't means they just throw open their vault for you just because you have a business idea that has not been put to use.
They are many tech startups in Nigeria that started with nothing but they are doing fine now and progressing with some attracting foreign investors.Typical example of such tech startup is PAYSTACK.google them.they are less than 2yrs old.

How much stake do you think Bill gate has in Microsoft. Venture capitalist wouldn't earn dividend until after a break even period and the best thing that would happen to them is make exit or for the company to go public and sell IPO. I would rather have 10% stake in a multi billion dollar business than have 80% in an average business as a founder/shareholder
LUCAS99:

Venture Capitalist that will want 55% or more equity is that one a Venture Capitalist.

Some even want Perpetual Royalty for life.

God forbid if the business becomes successful then they can easily kick you out of a company you created through hard work.

You're better off requesting for a Business Line of Credit OR a Business Loan from the Big Banks.

US should introduce start up just like Canada to encourage new startup by immigrants and as the same time creating jobs for Americans.
Babyvet:

The US still has a lot work to do when it comes to immigration , lots of hardworking and contributing people can not be become legal residents through self petition unless they have lots of money to invest .You either need to be born here or need someone to petition for you. Also contrary to Popular belief , there are illegal immigrants who get green card but it’s mostly through marriage.
