I've checked very well, there is no specific visa class for immigrants startups, most of the similar visas are employment based visa. See Canada startup visa https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/start-visa.html
Nig4Greatness:

Check uscis website very well, you will find what you are looking for.

Please give me the link to a US startup visa. I'm only aware of EB1(a) for extra ordinary talent, EB5 for investor investing $500k and $1M and E2 visa for countries that are treaty to US.
Babyvet:
They already have that category already. I have talked about it in previous posts. But they need an immigration that benefits the masses something similar to Canada skilled workers program, not exactly like it but something similar.

But using only their name on the TSA watch list is not enough. Using their biometric should be the best form of identification.
EgunMogaji:
I'll try to find the link.

One I remember was because his name matched to some list. The other I'm not sure but they have both sued the federal government.

The constitution guarantees us free travel without unnecessary delays or interference.
TravelRe: American, US Based, And US Aspirant Derailer Thread by Dremca(m): 10:33am On Aug 29, 2018
US should introduce start up just like Canada to encourage new startup by immigrants and as the same time creating jobs for Americans.
Babyvet:
The US still has a lot work to do when it comes to immigration , lots of hardworking and contributing people can not be become legal residents through self petition unless they have lots of money to invest .You either need to be born here or need someone to petition for you. Also contrary to Popular belief , there are illegal immigrants who get green card but it’s mostly through marriage.

What natural disaster does the west coast area suffer
Backfornow:
We saw quite a bit of people migrating from Puerto Rico in my state when that hurricane hit.
In my area we dont worry about hurricanes, our fears are tornadoes or what is also known as cyclones and in the winter time blizzards.

I believe this car will soon be auctioned as a result of flood and may make its way to Nigeria after the insurance company must have indemnify the owner. This brings me to asking if using insurance is mandatory in the US and its there a law created to enforce that because I've read that insurance is a BIG BUSINESS in the US
radautoworks:
Oh, Houston always bounces back. This is the third flood we've been through while I've been here. All good.

Outside my place last time when the water started receding. Whole place flooded except our house and the people next to us smiley

Yes, nairaland is the best forum regarding privacy but I'll urge Spyder880 to contact seun and the moderators of this forum to be more active in punishing those who breach the laws on this forum just the way travel section has a very active moderator.
mightguy:
for me. An open forum like nairaland is the best. Jst that if it was possible to ave a mod in here which u knw it ain't possible and also to hide our identity.
PoliticsRe: . by Dremca(m): 11:19am On Aug 26, 2018
Have you considered facebook closed group, with that you can choose to add the right people and remove them when they violate any rule and also facebook group makes post go viral attracting the right audience.
spyder880:
I understand that everything is difficult, but I don't come along thinking anything will be easy. Arguing abuse and insulting is a normal. But failure to sanction offenders is making it worse, encouraging more people to join. I can't wait for the moderators to make up their mind on what to do to those who must break the laws.
PoliticsRe: . by Dremca(m): 11:02am On Aug 26, 2018
its difficult to create a several website without having people to argue, abuse, and say all sort of things. It boils down to the audience your website target.
spyder880:
I hear you. I will also invest in a website next, or find one where I can moderate the comments. The moderators here are clearly overwhelmed, or lack interest.

theamerican can respond to this better than me
Izognok:
Honestly, why are you doing this to Nigeria? Why not focus on the intent of this thread? Are you planning to overstay when you get there? Why ask for people who did such foolish act? Your intent in this thread is questionable.

Guy, you can make it nicely. When you travel to the US and return, you have better chances of making it. What you need to do is scout for opportunities when you are there. It is a land of opportunities. No doubt, it is. You always have a return ticket with visiting visa; therefore, do not over stay. Return home and re-strategize if you spot an opportunity while under visiting visa.

Believe me, the US loves Nigerians. They know we are very intelligent. They like many things about us. Take advantage of that.

Our accent, our native attires, our Nigerian necklaces, our very bold ways of responding to situations, and our charisma are what they love about us. Leverage on these things.

I can give you tips on how to go about things legally and intelligently. You can make it. No need to announce "working codedly" publicly under a visa type that makes it illegal. Foreigners read nairaland every blessed day.

On this thread, there are 2 or 3 people who you should send PMs to for advice. If you read through very well, you can easily spot them.

Be good. If you must ask because of desperation, please, do it with the person privately and stop embarrassing us on public forums like this. We have our reputation to protect. Thanks!

Keep to the intent of this thread.

What's this global entry all about. Please explain it in a lay man language.
LUCAS99:
I do have global entry membership but the membership requirements is very strict.

It involves a Comprehensive FBI Background Check including a 10 year look back period which involves a Background Check on every employer you have worked for plus every where you have lived for the said period.

I only had a Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct Charge which was dismissed by the District Attorney and I explained that to the TSA Supervisor during my interview.

It took about a week for my Background Check from the FBI to come out Clean and I was subsequently approved and my Global Entry Membership Card was mailed to my home address.

I believe it cost about $100 for the Five year period that is valid.

I also have CLEAR.

Global Entry + TSA Precheck + CLEAR= No wait in line during air travel.

I need a sane country where my idea and creativity will pave way for my success and not having to bribe someone for me to be successful. Until son of nobody becomes somebody without knowing somebody, that's when I'll appreciate Nigeria.
Izognok:
What about how does the world view the unguarded and leaking mouth president of the country you want to go? Do you think as terrible as the world makes it look like, that Nigerians can elect such a man who does not know how to talk? And we think they are perfect. Lol!

I have read many of your comments and I like your zeal for success. However, this kind of question should be avoided. Please, kindly focus on the good side of your country. The US you want to go has got her own issues and bad sides too.

The US is a land of opportunities, but Nigeria is a land with hidden treasures. Opportunities are common in the US, but in Nigeria you will get treasures. Treasures are uncommon. So, when you get there, do yourself a favor: Find a way back home to hunt for the treasures in the future. Treasures are rare and scarce, but they last very long. Every Jack/Jerry thrives where there are abundant opportunities, but very few go after treasures.

Let me give you examples of the American citizens who are already positioning themselves to hunt for treasures in Nigeria.

1. Beyonce was in Nigeria one time, and she sang our national anthem without reading from the paper. She knows every Nigerian who attended elementary or high school in Nigeria can sing it by heart. So, she had to learn it by heart. We all know our national anthem, but do most Americans know theirs?

2. Beyonce has promoted the Ikorodu kid dancers many times on her twitter and IG pages. Ikorodu kid dancers are kids based in Lagos.

3. Drake and Wizkid Collaboration

4. Diddy and Wizkid Collaboraion.

5. Just yesterday, Janet Jackson released the visual of her latest singles. Check out the number of views under 24 hours. Check the youtube link I have included below. Janet and her dancers wore ankara (Nigerian attire, I think it is from Yoruba). And can you see those men who opened the song with the yoruba talking drum? That is one of the main heritage of Yoruba. The talking drum cannot be seen anywhere else without talking about the Yoruba culture. It is a yoruba drum from ages. And it talks. Any sound you can make in yoruba, it will give you. Even Ron Kenoly and Don Moen used it in one of concerts in Nigeria. Can you hear what the talking drum was saying/singing?

"Asiko ope, Jene ti de"
English translation: Thanksgiving season, Jene (Janet) is here. Jene is a way of saying Janet in Yoruba.

OK these people are entertainers. I agree. What about the young billionaire and boss of facebook, Mark Zuckerberg who was here to invest heavily in digital business in Nigeria recently. Mark walked, jogged in Yaba, and not even in Lekki, Ikoyi, or Victoria Island. Yaba. Do you know that Lord Luggard lived in railway compound in Yaba? Yaba Vs Ikoyi. My brother, Mark is a treasure hunter. He found his treasures in Yaba and not in Bourdillon, where Jagaban resides.

And let me remind you Emmanuel Macron, the French president who was in Lagos recently. Where did he go after saluting our president? Fela's Shrine - of course to go and feel Afrobeat. Fela Anikulapo Kuti is a treasure even after his death. Everyone asked Macron why the Shrine? That was when he said he was an intern at the French embassy some years back, he lived in Lagos for about a year, and he discovered tresures in Nigeria.

Talking of Afrobeat, Janet's song was introduced with Afrobeat. Wizkid has taking afrobeat to the US too. I will not be surprised if the song Diddy is directing for Wizkid presently has afrobeat touch. Do you know that people are beginning to call him Oluwa-Diddy? Adding the yoruba prefix to his name. Lol And let us not forget that Femi and Seun, the boys (children) of Fela the legend are masters of Afrobeat, and they have performed all round the world. I remebered Alicia Key's tweet when she hailed Femi that she was feeling the vibe of one of his singles. Lol.

I can go on and on.

No matter how we see Nigeria, this nation is great. Let us leave common opportunities and Silicon Valley for common people. Great men hunt for treasures. When you mention Nigeria, mention treasures.

The first treasure in Nigeria is her people. Dremca, you are one. The truth is that the US government knows too that we are treasures. And I believe that it is why they are not rigid with their visa interviews. 2 mins interview. Is that the way to conduct an interview? They know that no matter how terrible any Nigerian they give a visa, there is high probability that he/she is a gift. I do not support scams, but I am telling you who we are. We are treasures.

Until we know who we are, then, we will be celebrated. Not saying you should not pursue your dream in the US, but just know that Nigerians are treasures. Please, stop asking questions like this. Just focus on what you want to achieve.

Blessings!

A nairalander narrated how he was duped by a Nigerian for the first time he came to the US in one of the US thread I've read. Am yet to hear inspiring stories of any Nigerian billionaire who has motivational stories to tell the young ones of how they made it from nothing to something. Even the politicians who are elected to lead us run a get-rich-quick scheme once they are in government.
radautoworks:
I shared so you could see that our biggest hurdle a lot of the time is us. Specifically, other Nigerians over there who either have a "crabs in a bucket" mentality or a superiority complex.

In my experience, you will have more successful dealings with non-Nigerians overseas. Yes, inflammatory but that is my conclusion in 23 years.

Some may be rigid in accepting a different view.
Ayodejioak:
I'll have to somewhat agree with what radautoworks mentioned earlier on this. The way you carry yourself in diaspora has a lot of influence on NOT only you as a person but also your immediate relations, and even your country of origin as a whole.

I cannot recollect how many times I've been jokingly asked about the Nigerian prince scam, advance fee fraud and other '419' inspired questions. As much as some consider such question a weakness, I actually see it as an avenue to correct another white man's misconception of the country.

In the cause of my interactions, I've learned to put them on that level where they cannot fathom the fact that I come from the same Nigeria portrayed by CNN and the rest of the world as the abode of the worst! I tend to make sure that at the end of our discussion, all they can see is that invisible halo hovering my head and them planning their next visit to the country

One more thing to remember is the fact that fidelity mean so much to them and they tend to trust and relate to you based on your motives with them, even within the shortest period of time.

This is the simple weakness these so called 'Yahoo boys' capitalize on and go further to exploit their vulnerabilities and harvest their innocence. You'll be surprised how much of these boys play mind game as opposed to diabolical methods which is conceived by the gen pop.
