I have a little problem I'd like your insights on. My Benz c320 used to trip off at quarter tank thereabout like it ran out of fuel. I had it checked out thinking the gauge was bad or something. The tank was opened and there was fuel in it and the gauge was pretty accurate. The rewire took just worked around with it and told me the problem was over but the problem persists. I got in touch with another rewire who diagnosed the vehicle and told me to replace the pedal sensor as the vehicle was stalling and I thought it was as a result of the fuel problem, upon replacement the vehicle stopped stalling but as regards the engine going off the same rewire asked me to change the entire tank. One of the rewires think the fuel pump/sending unit is the culprit while the other one(the one that diagonised and asked me to change pedal sensor too) thinks it's the entire tank. I am genuinely confused about the rewire to go with as I don't want trial and errors.

the actuator of your injector nozzle is either bad or the nozzle pipe itself is clogged preventing return of fuel to the other half of your tank on the left side.
It's the return that moves fuel into the active side on the right which in your own case makes the car go off once you use up the fuel on that side.
Ask your mechanic (not rewire) to check for fuel return and if absent, let him trace the point of obstruction.
Don't waste your time, energy and money on pumps or another tank. It is not something you diagnose either.

I used to gravely dislike that CUV till I got one for my client last year.
Although, it was the 97-2000 model, it when I sat in the car I started falling in love with it the more. And that when i discovered RX330 although being a newer and more beautiful car was a car which Lexus really cut corners to build.

The leathers in RX300 was softer, plusher, more comfier, the car stands taller and the audio system was either pioneer or nakamichi audio. The pioneer was base system yet, it offered a subwoofer under the front passengers seat which produced great sounds, bringing the nakamichi took the car to another level.

Comparing with my RX330's base pioneer system with NO SINGLE subwoofer I feel I was ripped off.

You killed it with this analysis bro, but I'm sure you wanted to type '99-2000. The first entrant Rx300 berthed during that period, not before.

it depends on the type of liquid. Is it oil or water?

there is nothing like electric carburetor in golf 3. ALL golf 3s have single point injector system.

i totally agree with you. that's exactly what my mechanic said. my coming here is to know whether it is rectifiable or I should just go for another tank.

You have a bad fuel filter, even if you change or wash d tank the problem will not go away.

not true. The fuel filter is one of the things I replaced when I got the car last december before this issue came up.
Besides, a bad filter won't wait till the fuel gauge gets to midpoint before malfunctioning.

@inze: thanks bro. I thought he was exaggerating when he said its a day's job to remove the tank and that's why he said it is better to replace instead of managing it. He's of the opinion that washing might not totally solve the problem.
I got a quote of 25k for the tank and he's talking 5k for workmanship.
Please,is there any special washing unit or the regular car wash guys are just OK?

I drive a c280 1996. Nice ride with considerable power. My car goes off when the fuel gauge is exactly on half tank. it happened almost four times with adverse loss of energy, time and money until I discovered it occurs when the fuel tank is on half.
Now, I fill up the tank regularly with no trouble but it's tasking stopping regularly for gas when on long journeys which I do constantly because of the nature of my job. A kazeem recommended replacement of the tank with cost implication of 30k.
Any contrary opinion please? Thanks

As a first time car user, I will advise you stretch yourself and up the savings in your hand to 800k then go for a correct and clean tokunbo golf 3 which is fuel efficient, reliable, cheap to maintain, rugged, with readily available spare parts.

@OP: why are you even contemplating buying a car with starting issue. Let the owner resolve the problem and add to the cost of the car. That way, you avoid unnecessary headaches.
That is why I cannot even think of buying naija used cars. If it is a tokunbo Micra that my budget could handle, then so be it.

Bros, you might need to consider going below your fixated price.
This beautiful car has been on display since June incurring cost at keeping it(warming, washing etc). It's better to let it go on time with minimal profit so as to guard against redundancy.
