Good evening to all the auto gurus in the house.
I was on Benin-Ore expressway earlier today enroute
Ibadan from Asaba and I noticed that the gear of my car
(RX300) kept vibrating whenever the speedometer needle
got to the 160km/hr(100miles/hr) mark.The car itself
didn't vibrate at that speed though and the gear selection was very smooth until that point.I also realized that the
gear vibration was more marked when going uphill. It
occurred thrice so I left it between 120 and 140 till I got to
Ore without any issue.The other parts of the trip were at low speed due to the nature of the roads.
Is this a normal phenomenon for that Lexus brand or
something is wrong with the gear box?Car is less than 3
months in my care and I have been paying adequate
attention to the manufacturer's instructions.

Apparently he is just one of those small boys hanging around auto shops looking for a means of livelihood. He is not the owner of those cars he displays on N/L as exemplified by his attitude. I once challenged him over thesame issue with an Acura Mdx I was interested in. I eventually bought my cars elsewhere.

@Siena:Been wanting to raise this issue with you boss.Bought this Nissan Xterra 2002 model last month together with my RX300.Every was fine with it until about 2 weeks ago,when the Service engine soon light was coming on intermittently for about 3days the become permanent afterward.Scanning threw up the knock sensor error code and the guy said he wanted to remove the sensor but I had to fix an appointment as the sensor was hidden somewhere within the engine.I got in touch with NISSPART, bought the specified engine and gear oils from him and narrated the situation but he told me not to worry as most of those xterras I see in Naija have the Service engine soon lights on due to bad fuel in this country as corroborated by you and that they respond poorly to fuel addictives.My madam uses it for her weekly itinerary(work,drop and pick kids from school,shopping and church).No distant journey. Just seeking a third expert opinion,can she continue using the car?

@:modestdude: lemme apologise about my late response.I got mine from Cotonou too and I went there myself.You must be prepared to go yourself with a trusted hand.You don't even need to take much cash.With 20k you can first secure the car of your choice and go back to sort out the balance and delivery at your convenience.Am not a professional car dealer though.

This thread brings to the fore lies that had been peddled in the past about paramedics undergoing the same depth of courses as doctors in the universities.A good grasp of anatomy should let us know that the number of sperm cells produced per one ejaculation ranges from between 200-300millions out of which only ONE cell(champion) fertilizes the egg.The remaining millions are then destroyed due to their ultrashort life span.
In vitro fertility procedures encompass sperm collection and isolation of viable spermatozoa which are then stored in the sperm bank. You can therefore get thousands of male producing cells from one ejaculation.The bottom line is that it is not as if the donor must release sperm everyday or for every recipient.The theory of malnourishment therefore is not valid here.

@OP: Bought mine last month(2001 RX300). I think what happened to me is what is being replicated here.The metallic ring attached to the car key MUST NOT rest/pressed on the transponder(the black rubber base of the key) while turning the key in the ignition when starting the car. I had a similar issue which was brought to the attention of my age long technician and he said I have to change the car's ignition.I was trying to work out a visit for the change when my wifey pointed out this instruction from the car's manual which I had abandoned inside the glove compartment. Till date, the issue has been resolved. Try this before getting a mechanic sir. If it doesn't work, then get the car scanned.

It is no news to say that the health care industry in Nigeria just as the state of our nation itself is moribund.
Nigeria is a land full of hardworking, honest and honorable people a.k.a. the goodies. Yet, it is equally full of lazy, indolent, neurotic, deceitful and now, self-deceiving people a.k.a. the baddies.
The crux of the current state of our health care system as well as our nation is the the tilt of balance is now overwhelmingly in favour of the baddies.
Some of the reasons for this abysmal situation is the chronic exodus of the goodies and the apparent nonchalance of the goodies in the affairs of the system couple these with the self-propagation of corrupt and equally indolent leadership, phenotypic religiousness of the followership that has over glorified grace (unmerited favour), then, anything goes. More so, as the entire nation as lost its senses of shame and value.
Now that democracy is the order of the day, majority should always and in all instances carry the day. Common sense can simply be outvoted by nonsensical majority. ..How dare persons with murder cases on 'their heads' be nominated and I dare say 'win' gubernatorial positions! ........
Such is the state of affairs in our nation and alas its health care system. A state of democracy devoid of justice, probity and equity. A state where the 'ayes have it' based on the decibels of their noise as against the logic of the 'nahs'. A state where we've forgotten that the empty vessels make the most noise.
That we the doctors in the system are now making noise, the people now assume us to be empty!
An amorphic or aemoebic body called 'JOHESU' wants this democratisation to consume the remainder of the health care system.
Johesu is an amalgam derived from professionals in the Nigerian hospital (public) with the singular exception of the Medical doctors. Johesu amongst other wishes, want the headship of the public hospitals open to the majority, they want equity across professions in pay and titles but not a tution or responsibilities.
A. Firtly, Lets compare and contrast tuition.
1. Most universities offer basic degrees following 4 academic sessions (pharmacy 5 academic sessions). However, Medicine and surgery bachelors is offered only after a minimum of 6 years not academic sessions!
2.Note we have a common ground of the first or preliminary year. This however is also quite different: the other students have the luxury of a pass mark of 40% as against 50% for the budding medical mind!... who Must pass all his or her papers at one sitting and is unable to 'carry over' the failures into higher classes.
Did I forget to say that the entry marks into the university are also not the same and the lower marks favour the Johesuits who may have 'sat' secondary school leaving examinations multiply too.
Again it is noteworthy that even amongst the Johesuits, the vast majority are non university schooled but then who cares! ?
3. Still, these differences becomes more significant when one takes into cognisance that 1 academic session consists of just 2 semesters each of 15 weeks i.e. 30 weeks per year for 3 years for others, 4 years for pharmacist as against our own 52 weeks year for 5 years. This is an open but forgotten truth the translation of which means the medical mind is trained after the preliminary year for at least 260 weeks or almost 9 academic years cramped into 5! Note, only  noble, stable and intellectual minds can survive and thrive under such!!
4. The course contents are also different. The training of Johesuits I dare say lack the requisite exposure to human patients in clinical training as compared to that of medical students. The skills for patient-doctor interaction are not taught to them simply because they are not and can not become doctors be it by tution or democracy.
I agree to a downside of our high entry, intense persistent training, it can make any brilliant minds arrogant or cocky.
Nonetheless, our Oath as doctors eventually makes us respect our clients as our focus primus and we thus become more selfless. We are even bound from self advertisement which makes Johesuits even more vocal!
B. Lets compare the jobs we do in the hospitals.
The focal point of the hospital is the patient.
The focal point of the patient's visit is the consultation with the doctor (medical not academic) which aims to alleviate the clients complaints.
That the hospital employs record staff, nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists and pharmacists in drones should not and can not subsume or subvert the doctor's duties, responsibilities and commitment to the patient.
E.g.
* Can the 12 disciples replace Jesus the Christ!
* Can Okon the waiter having meritoriously served for decades  (and no formal training) become the chef in a restaurant?
* I know of many hardworking and honest graduates who serve in banks as Security guards: when can they become our banking/ account officers, bank managers or even the CBN governor. Can longevity of service or proximity to the bank without tution assure them of this responsibility. If it does (sic) what happens to the bank and its innocent clients?
C. Lets look at title.
Not every medical doctor is a consultant.
First you go through house job or internship. To become one, yes you have been grilled in no where else to an accredited university.  Then, you work under observance and guidiance at a time your peers are already 3-4 years in their own practices. Certainly therefore the new medical doctor is no juvenile even if a youth! Thus, entry into his/ her job can not be at the same salary grade/ level with persons of lesser entry/ tution/ qualifications or responsibilities.
After the internship, it then takes about 6 to 10 years to qualify to become a Consultant by daily hands-on experience and 3 tier fellowship examination. He/ she then gets appointed as a Medical consultant employed to 'see' patients. This is obviously at a time equivalent to the zenith of the carriers of the Johesuits.
Are the Johesuits qualified to be called consultants?
Who are they to consult with?
Why?
Some nurses (a global phenomenon) are now acquiring more academic training to include Ph.ds just to become known to colleagues and patients as Doctors. These academic appellations nonetheless can never translate such title holders to medical doctors, responsibilities or pay!
Similar ''mago mago'' occurs whereby nigerians now become graduates from distant affliated school or equating the Bachelors and the National Diplomas.
Against some want to become directors.  Noble as this may seem on fave value because it may give a sense of accomplishment before retirement perhaps or simply ensure high pay packages. Deeper thought will soon reveal the clumsiness of this. How many directors should there be in any given hospital?
D. Lets look at headship of the Nigerian public hospitals.
This scenario is only in question in the public domain only. No private establishment or its clientele question that age tested governance by the medical doctor. It's simply a case of 'he whom the cap fits'.
Yes, others may desire the cap too: in yoruba ''ki ni obo fi se ori ti inoki o se''. Again some argue,  if I can't where the cap, no other should! However:
* Should non-combatants head our military?
* Can a medic become chief of air staff?
* Can the canteen manager of 30 years service in the CBN aspire to be CBN governor.

@mydex93: As a good student of the Bible, you should realize that the personality of a man of God will still dictate his ministries and activities. Take the ministry of Prophet Elijah who confronted an evil king for example. Moses was a stammerer and that's why a spokesperson (Aaron) was provided for him despite all the exploits he eventually left in his wake.

You have to be hopelessly ignorant to be lumping or infer that the God of the bible and allah are one and the same. I laugh when some people say,' we serve the same God'. The arabic word for God is even Illah not Allah so allah must mean another deity.
God CANNOT be an author of confusion and maintain double standard as dictated by the teachings of Christianity and Islam.
As a father with two children, will you tell one to :
1. Marry only one wife and tell the other to marry four?
2. Tell one not to kill for any reason(Exodus20:13, Deutoronomy5:17,Luke18:20,Romans13:9,James2:11) but tell the other to kill for Islam because it is a command and the surest way to heaven.(sura9:19,Sura9:29).Infact some muslims protested against killing (S4:74-80) but mohamed convinced them that it's a command from allah (S16:10-12).
Furthermore from the quran, submissn to allah is not just in praying and fasting but obedience to the order of killing(Sura4:74-77)
Finally, Hadith of Kanz Al-muttaqi,vol II pg252-286 says, 'swords are the keys to paradise. kill a tithe collector,killing is better than prayer and fasting,fighters are better than traders and cultivators'.
Jihad is ordained for Muslims (Sura 2:216)

3. Tell one that when he dies will come to him in heaven and occupy some of the mansions already prepared for saints by Christ(John14:2-3) but tell the other that his fate after death is uncertain cos it is at the discretion of allah and that the only sure way to heaven is to kill for Islam.

4. Tell one that marriage is for life and the only room for divorce must be due to adultery(Matthew19:7-9, Mark10:9) but tell the other that once he's tired of his wife, he can say 'talac' three times, put her away and that's final.

5. Tell one to pray anytime, anywhere(even on the toilet's seat. Matthew 6:5-15) but tell the other one to pray five times daily facing the east and after washing some parts of the body.

6. Ordained one 'wifeless' prophet to die and woke him up again after three days for onward ascension to heaven but allowed the other prophet (who philandered and even married Zainab the wife-to-be of his adopted son,Zaid {Sura 33:37,Sura 33:36}to die and not wake up again.

7. Tell one that there no marriage in heaven after death(Matthew22:30, Mark12:25) but tell the other that there are 72 virgins waiting for him to marry when he gets to heaven(Sura44:54,Sura52:20,Sura55:70)

I could go on and on but by now it should be very obvious that God and Allah CANNOT be the same being going by ordinary common sense. Point 2 above should be a pointer to why some fanatics bomb themselves and others as it is their belief that it is the surest way to heaven and this explains the violent nature of moslims. I don't blame suicide bombers because they are only obeying the true dictates of the quran. Any moslem that says otherwise is not practising Islam. QED
