Goldenheart002:
Good day mama, my almost 8months LO is a belly crawler, he doesn't go on all four and I'm not really bothered cos I believe he will correct himself as time goes on but ppl have been telling me it's bad, like I shouldn't allow him. I was advised to lift his chest wit turning stick every time he crawls on his belly. Dis sounds so weird and funny to me, I don't know wether to get angry or laff cheesy cheesy grin grin grin. Pls mamas that has experienced dis, what do u think? Will he go on all four at will? Or is there anything I can do to help him?

Cc all mamas
Let me share my experience, my baby is 7 months has not really gone on all fours to crawl, he does a push up like position to raise his head up moves his bumbum back and front like a swing or dance. grin

If he wants to move forward he 'swims'(i guess that's the belly crawling part) he started swimming on reverse shocked always tried to move forward and gets frustrated at it, just this week he has found a way to swim to the front grin when he was trying to get close to my phone. I just noticed again that he holds something up like his edge of his cot and goes in a kneeling position.

I have been told that different children different system, that some do the swimming position like your baby, your baby might not be an all fours crawler you might just wake up one day an see him standing with support.

My point is just leave him he will find his way.

So it's uncalled for and she teaching somebody else to disrespect and disregard her mother in-law is called for? I wouldn't let my Mom in-law of 75 sweep Omugwo or not let alone my mom.
No vex mama, she don accept correction kiss

The sweeping is not the issue here

Abi you didn't read the part where she advised the other woman to lock her door with enough snacks so if the MIL knocks she should ask the woman to go fix her meal by herself?

What is wrong is wrong! There's no need sugar coating it! Shikena!
I have been following the posts on the matter and I saw everything

Wahlahi we like overflogging issues on this thread.

Someone gave an advice, it did not go down well with everyone, she was corrected, she accepted correction. We all saw it.

For mamas to let it go iro ooo, we must revisit the issue again and again.
Quoting directly or throwing subtle jabs at the advise or advisor why is that?

Saying she lacks manners and respect over a post she has accepted correction for and moved on. This is also wrong.

Make I kuku dey carry my load dey go ojare grin grin

Back to observation mode.

And you're happy your Mil of 75 years picks up a broom then bend down to sweep your house for you every morning? Smh for you, from your write up you lack manners and respect. Imagine the kind of advice you gave to your fellow woman, she should lock herself up and tell mama to enter kitchen and cook. Msheeeeew like say if her husband flings her out for disrespecting his aged mom you'll be there to take her in....as if you sef no go grow old one day or have a daughter in-law.
Mama I think the 'lack respect and manners' part is uncalled for on top what na?

It's not an abomination if either a MIL or mum sweeps for a new mother during omugwo. Is it?

Thank you.

@ Droyal, this is the picture. I think i’ve used the one from Netherlands too. That one from Mexico forms seeds if you mix it in pap and gave my baby terrible loose stool.
Eby22:
Same product, same company, different countries. There is slight variations in their nutritional composition though.
Thanks mamas. I will be on the lookout to avoid the Mexico brand, the major thing I used to look out for is production and expiry date.

Please Mamas that use Nan milk, I observed that there are two types in the market. One is made in Mexico with a gold cover and the spoon is inside the milk. The second one is made in France and the spoon is on top of the seal and has a white cover for 1 and 2, and gold transparent cover for stage 3.

My baby started taking the one from France but Dh mistakenly bought the on from Mexico and we had loose stool until I figured out the reason. Immediately I switched back to his usual one, his stool changed.

We need to be observant with all that is going on now. The regulatory bodies seem to be asleep. Check expiration date and manufacturing date and country. Observe the pack of your product so you can easily detect changes.
Mama please can you post pictures, the NAN I have always seen is made in Netherlands and has a gold and transparent cover and spoon inside. Never even knew there's Mexico and france. Thanks.

Sorry i'm just answering. No, the Oloja phc is quite different from ambode phc. Follow queensow description to get to the ambode phc, i feel that one will be straightforward and easy to locate for you. You should be able to get the vaccination on a tuesday. If you have further questions, pls feel free
Thanks God bless.

It's Ok to get your next vaccination at 7wks as they usually give after the age and not before, we also took our 6wks vaccination where we were already 7wks so No fear. As per the health centre in somolu, from oshodi you can join a bus going to yaba then alight at palmgroove. Use the pedestrian bridge and cross to the other side, then from there you can take bike or keke to the place/ask for directions though we used Oloja phc but the one in somolu will be easier for you since you're coming from oshodi.

cc queensnow
Thanks about the immunization question and the description

Is the oloja phc different from the one they call ambode health center?( I thought it was the same) If yes pls kindly post descriptions. Do you have an idea if it's still Tuesdays for the rota? Don't mind my questions pls. thanks

Not coming from osodi direct but I will surely pass through osodi when going.

Thanks a lot.

Good day mama's pls I want to ask, my baby was born 14th feb and 6 weeks after is supposed to be 28th March, he was given his first set of vaccines on 17th at the hospital and the nurse wrote on the card that his next vaccination appointment is 4th April (which is 7 weeks) I didnt notice till after I got home. Although the nurses said we can take the vaccines at any health center close to us after the specified age not before.

I did ask my mum she said maybe it was an error in dates but I can take him when he is 6weeks or after depending on which day their immunization falls and tell them he is already 6 weeks.

What do you think pls ( sorry my question sounds somehow)

Secondly, please I need description to ambode health center in shomolu, I read they are giving rota for free. I don't know that area well. Pls I need description from Oshodi and any other info will be appreciated. Cc queensnow, imurboss, All Sabi mamas.

Thank you.

Those commenters that said visiting your mum without informing you isn't an issue do not understand basic family etiquette. The man is the eye of his extended family while the wife is the eye of hers, you should contact him before making a move. Him not knowing about your move is undermining the person of the man which is not right.
Oh reallly grin

What won't I read on nairaland.

So his MIL needs to take his permission/ inform him before visiting his own bereaved mother shocked shocked . Is his MIL his wife? I thought marriage brings two families together.

If he's feeling undermined or uneasy that his mother inlaw visited his mum without informing him then the OP has a problem.

I felt the op was petty when I read his initial post, reading his later posts where he said he should be the one the MIL should start commiserating with him not his mother confirmed my suspicion.

Someone that can make an issue out of this will make issues out of other things and call them 'nasty things'.

For those that are living in Lagos, I can help you with the alfalfa leaf with the help of my younger brother to deliver it to you. Forget the tab. Its very good to soak the leaf yourself. I believe before 3 months you will confirm BFP but follow my instructions n how to use it and also make sure you take folic acid with pronatal vitamin everyday. It works like magic.
Hello ma pls how do I contact you I need the leaf for a friend.

Please if anyone knows the local name of the alfalfa leaf that the agbo women will know pls kindly share, thanks. I have tried getting the local name to no avail.

B.S

I am the kind of person that believes every pregnancy is a miracle so when I became pregnant with my son even when we were still trying to get a hold of the whole kpekus stuff I knew it was a miracle.

Pregnancy was not complicated except for some personal non medical issue which I prayed about and was resolved

On the morning of the 13th I saw small blood and water and headed to the hospital, meanwhile I have been having contractions for about 2 weeks it comes and goes.I got to the records room told them I was having contractions and I saw water plus small blood then I was told to go to labor ward. I explained to the doc on duty and he and the nurse were like am I sure it's contractions. I guess I was too calm, they checked my vitals (BP was normal) and he examined me and said I was finger tip but because I am due already (40 weeks 6 days) I would be monitored so I was given a bed space and told I would be checked again later that evening to see if there was improvement and he asked if I had any questions.

Between the morning and evening different deliveries took place, different shouts twin births etc. The person beside my bed didn't even make it to delivery room, the doc just checked her and shouted "head on p" and they all came rushing at her she delivered right there on the bed, I was too nervous to look the doc even suggested I go to another ward because he saw fear in my eyes and he knew I was a first timer.

Evening came fast and around 10pm I was checked again and still finger tip dialated meanwhile I had lost the mucus plug( or part of it as I would know later) so my husband was called to buy some stuffs, catheter was inserted and injections in it then I moved to another ward. Overnight I was having the contractions at steady intervals saw some more mucus.

Morning time the docs were having their ward rounds and when they got to my bed their boss checked my folder and saw that my BP at some point during anc was 130/ 80 something so he pointed out to the younger doctors that it's important to note such BP during anc, he asked for my BP that morning and the nurse that checked my vitals said it was already documented, I saw it and it was 145 / 100 I guess, he ordered for a urine protein test I did it and was negative, he checked my eye balls and made a comment to his younger colleges that 'she's even lucky'. He wrote a drug for me to take to bring down the BP and said they have to move me back to labor ward.

Got down there they removed the catheter and I was 4cm, when I saw he wanted to burst membrane with the instrument I stiffened that's how the doc vexed that I was wasting his time that he ll leave me for next 4 hours blabla bla because I said he should give me few seconds to recover another doc(a senior one) walked in and asked what was going on I explained I told him to just chill for some secs, he calmed me down and said he will do it for me that it's not painful and will make labor faster he just inserted his fingers and the instrument and I just heared pim plus small water coming not painful at all he said 5cm and that cervix is ripe etc etc,

About an hour later he told the nurses I would be augmented and my husband was called to buy some stuffs oxytocin, etc By 2.30 I was given two injections in my bom and the drip (oxytocin was injected in the drip) was passed very slowly just drops. Contractions were coming steady,( the railings of the hospital bed suffered from my hands) by 5pm I wanted to poo but I remembered they said we should not push until we are told to but this one was pupu I felt, I passed strong feaces out I called out to them doc came to check me I was fully dialated and I was moved to delivery room, they told me to push when the next contraction comes, drip was passed and they drained my bladder,

I pushed they said I didn't push anything (shuu push that I felt from head to toe) I later heared them saying I was too tight but the chief matron said they shouldn't cut me yet because of bleeding, contractions stopped I was sha praying past 5, 5.30 I was resting /pushing no show, they were saying my baby is staying too long there, they were all saying they can see my baby's head.

By 5.50 I believe a strong contraction came and they all shouted continue pushing your baby is out, I was torn at that point and my beautiful prince was placed on my chest for few seconds he was now carried and was screaming his lungs out placed under one warmer and cleaned up. I was now hearing them say I actually tore too apart from the epi they gave me, I rested for some mins and then the student nurse wanted to stich me somehow the nice doc that burst my membrane ended up stitching me and to be honest the stitching seems to be more painful t, I screamed that place down ( despite the fact that I was given about 3 injections there) the doc was telling the student nurses that I had a 4 th degree tear, my vagina is still undergoing the healing process.

Baby was checked for jaundice after 24 hours ( I guess it's a routine to have the babies checked before discharge by a paed) was later admitted to NNU for phototherapy after few days was discharged, I broke down because baby was crying when he was placed there, the heat was too much I guess ,even his skin peeled.

All in all I give glory to God almighty the giver of life for the wonderful experience to hold a new being. It has ended in praise.

Safe delivery to all waddling mamas

Cc lioha

Hello,
Kindly recommend a superb maternity (ante natal) hospital to me biko, i'm in my second trimester.

I live in Okoko, and the hospital i registered in (Elphy) doesnt put my mind at ease... the environment is too dirty, their equipment very unkempt. The ATS given to me, I felt the pain for as long as 4 days onward. it's my first preg, and I want to take necessary precautions.

Pls recommend nice maternity hospitals around ojo/Festac.

Thanks in anticipation.
Hallo sis, I stay around ijanikin axis and getting a good/standard private hospital in this our area is somehow, there should be good ones though you just need to search and ask so many questions.

You are at okoko, I will suggest you use igando general ( their maternal and child center) easily accessible, on the main road no traffic, that's where I registered accessibility is superb, I shunt at igbo elerin come out at first gate and straight smooth bus to the igando clinic, so you shouldn't have problems from okoko. I think I have heared or seen that elphy hospital before it's quite popular but I don't have reviews about them.

You just have to deal with crowd that's all.

If it was a subsequent pregnancy I may have said register at this Lagos govt primary health centers.

If you are not comfortable with them pls change that clinic.

Why do you want to go all the way to festac? Traffic along that mile 2 route is very very unpredictable with the construction and everything how will you cope with ANC days.

Be patient with yourself, take some minutes out. Extend some of your agitations on written paper in place of that "etc",now ask yourself if you were to attend to somebody of this problem, how and what would you do?! Write out the available plans to make to shift to annul the nervousness,, you may also wish to write out certain issues that one in such condition should discus on an appointment with a doctor. Please take your time to do this, come back again and let us continue our discussion. One hour the most is okay for this!

pls enlighten me, after paying d 17k and donation of blood what is d next thing? Is there any other payment ? Is d 17k for d test?
According to what the account peeps told us the first day we registered.

You pay in 3 phases.

1. 17k which covers
Delivery pack- 10k
General investigation(tests) - 3k
Scan -1,500
Folder -500
And some other things I didn't write down

2. 13,200 I think they said this one can be paid after the first one before delivery, it covers
Admission pack
Admission gown
Sitz bath
Sanitary pack
SMS alert ( yeah they send SMS to remind us of
clinic days ) this one is 500naira.
Underlay
Misellenous.
They gave mamas coconut oil to be used in the delivery room and sitz bath after paying this 2nd installment.

3. Delivery
Normal delivery 19,000 ( Diet- 4,500 , accommodation 4,500, balance of delivery pack etc)
C/s - 79k ( theater - 25k, anaestetia -20k, pharmacy- 29k and some other things I didn't write down)

Total is like 50k normal delivery and about 110k for C/s but I believe there are other tests scan or drugs apart from this first set the doc may want you to run or buy later during checkups, you pay for that.

If you are refereed from Health center, you pay 13500 at the first booking instead of 17k.

After paying and donation you do your tests, scan and you present the results the day you are given on your card. Try and get a donor they seem to take that thing serious.

And when you come for your appointment, when you drop your card make sure you write your name on the list where you drop your card and come early.
