You can market a product and spend the most money.. If the product is bad nobody go buy am at all ..... So it is a double edge sword |

ascendo: NEW API SN PLUS SPECIFICATIONS API Today’s modern engines are designed to deliver higher levels of performance, improved fuel economy and emissions benefits than ever before. Gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines are one of the more prevalent engine technologies that unlock the higher demands on today’s engines. GDI engines are sometimes susceptible to a condition called low speed pre-ignition (LSPI). A full range of Castrol’s products have been specially formulated to protect against LSPI and help you get the best from your vehicle.
1. What is SN PLUS?
API SN PLUS is the interim spec within the lubricants industry that supplements the API SN category for gasoline engine oil performance. It helps bridge the gap between current ILSAC GF-5 and future ILSAC GF-6 specifications. It was developed in response to auto manufacturers request to ensure gasoline direct engines have guaranteed protection against low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) events. LSPI is caused by high pressure build up in the cylinder of the engine which can damage your car’s engine.
2. How do I know I need an SN PLUS oil?
As of May 2018, no OEMS are recommending an API SN PLUS oil but check your owner’s manual to see if you have a gasoline direct engine that might benefit from an API SN PLUS oil. GDI engines are named differently by manufacturer (eg. GDI, FSI, SIDI, Eco Boost), consult your owner’s manual to understand what specific engine your car has. API SN PLUS is expected to be recommended by OEMs in 2019. A host of Castrol products are already API SN PLUS licensed and are ready to meet the API SN PLUS category needs when OEMs begin to require this product.
3. Does Castrol have products that meet API SN PLUS?
The core of Castrol products have been licensed by the American Petroleum Institute as meeting or exceeding the requirements of the API SN PLUS category. These products are
Castrol EDGE (Advanced Full Synthetic): 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 Castrol EDGE Professional: OE 0W-20, Castrol EDGE Professional 5W-20, 5W-30 Castrol EDGE High Mileage: 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30 Castrol EDGE Extended Performance: 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30 Castrol EDGE Bio-Synthetic: 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 Castrol GTX MAGNATEC (Full Synthetic): 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 Castrol GTX High Mileage: 5W-30, 5W-20 Castrol GTX Ultraclean: 5W-20 and 5W-30 You didn't really answer my question? Does it exceed it ....Yes or No answer...... That is what am looking for.. From your write up and explanation it exceeds it ....keep in mind the USA Castrol magnatec gtx we talking about ... Not edge... the castrol that you selling can just show me the bottle where it writes it exceed API .. That is 5w30 , if it does not write exceed Api am not buying it ... |

Avedonn: I sure 90% of Nigerian car owners use 20W50 for years and nothing happen to their car engine. For instance, if you take a market survey, the availability of 20W50 to synthetic oil is 1to 20.
So if 20W50/works for you, then keep on using and also if synthetic oil work for you keep using it as well. If they know better.. They wouldn't be using it and they will follow owner manual ...in the USA 20w50 is not even common oil .. It does not sell market ... 5w30 is the most common grade of oil ... and u can't tell me Nigeria climate is hot has an excuse.. When oil is been formulated climate is taken consideration and country.... And most cars in Nigeria are from the USA .. My fight is for people to follow owner Manuel at all times

Ikenna351: You just proved your position on 20w-50 oil for your vehicle wrong with the pictures you attached.
That's bluish smoke. A sign of weak Engine about to enter grave. The 20w-50 you have been using have ruined that Engine, as the picture you attached has proven (other factors may contribute).
This is why I mentioned earlier that most 20w-50 oil users or Nigerians that abuse their vehicles usually claim their engines or vehicles have no issues and running perfectly fine with the wrong oil or abusive maintenance, until they bring their vehicles to experts/specialists, only to be told their Engines or vehicles are Walking Dead.
There is nothing Wrong with 20w-50 oil weight, be it mineral or synthetic. It's not a bad oil. It's just not meant for all Engines, especially the newer or modern ones. It's too thick for them.
Ikenna351, Lion King - Monk. I weak for the guy.. For them to follow owners manual it is a problem..... It is even too late for him to switch over to owners manual recommendation... |

Avedonn: It's confusing. But what's the point of inscribing the date if they don't want people to understand. I don't think they are making it hard for people to understand.. I think it is to keep better track and prevent fraud. The numbers include factory batch number . Their customer service is on the label too that u can call ..And also it stated on their website that their oil is good for five years from the date of manufacture.. They are been transparent with their product |
