GAZZUZZ:Again sir, from experience or little experience... Reading is fundamental...... I will read the owners manual.. Anything outside that is a waste of time ....... |
GAZZUZZ:Sir , I rather be safe than to be sorry... I will rather follow owners manual at all times.. The car manufacture are the ones that make the engine , so they are in a position to know better... I will not gamble with my hard earn money ... . Another example is 2010 Camry..... And you can honestly tell me using 20w50 oil will not result in bad mpg
|
Smartchoiice:Marketing and stating facts go hand in hand.. I was very ignorant at first and didn't get my facts rite ..but after during researching the answers I was looking for or the facts that I was looking for was rite under my nose .. The owners manual.. Which u can easily be found onGoogle rite from Toyota.. It cost zero dollars to look it up.. I mention how my old manager was using 20w50 oil for my Elantra and I end up selling most of my cars.. So below is the owners manual of an 07 Elantra..... ..... READING IS FUNDAMENTAL ...........READ YOUR CAR OWNERS MANUAL AT ALL TIMES.........
|
GAZZUZZ:For the fact that the previous owner has been using 20w50, the damage has already been done... If the car is a Toyota or corolla ..5w30 is the rite oil regardless of weather conditions or how hot or cold the weather is ..now let's take for an example owner manual of the most popular car driven on Nigeria road ...A corolla 2003 to 2005 Corolla . So whether sludge or no sludge damage has been done ..or better fuel economy has been comprised due to fact that 20w50 is too thick .. And one of the major reasons why people are crazy about corolla is because it is good on fuel ....
|
oluwaleokey:Have preached this so many times.. 20w50 is totally wrong oil for the car.. If your car is a Toyota especially a corolla.. For all types of temperature 5w30 is the recommended per owners manual... a lot of uneducated and road side mechanic will tell you 20w50 is the rite oil, even though the owners manual states 5w30. They will tell they have been using 20w50 and their car runs ok ..but due to their ignorance they are burning more fuel.. Bottom line is just a matter of time before you will need engine replacement ..Continue using the 20w50 or 5w40 till the engine smokes out.. Once you get a tokunbo engine , you can than start with proper oil grade .. |
MyMouth:My brother it is too late..20w50 is the wrong oil for that car.. Continue using 20w50 oil until the engine finally gives up. 20w50 should have never been used.. You will need to get a new engine .. And once u do that follow owner's manual and use 5w30.. Coolant issue ..It is too late to start using coolant now . Am sure the damage is already done.. No point, continue using water.. Once u a ready to change engine ,have them check the radiator .. If it looks good ,than start using genuine coolant.... Good luck |

luvinhubby:Better to buy from a reputable seller, than go by the batch code.. Coz there are lots of fakes out there. To the point that it will look like the original with the batch code and date. You be surprised |
obinnanelson4:One of my uber driver and mechanic advised me to do it ..have not done it yet ..Am not in a rush at all ... since the drivers are not complaining about me doing it .. And trust me my drivers can complain o.. They don't pay for vehicle maintenance at all ...So bottom line it is not bothering them enough to complain |
obinnanelson4:I really don't know.. I was just advice to switch my size 14 and tires and rims to 15 .. To give better better ground clearance... |
donuba61:All my Mobil 1 extended perfoemace USA import is 17k naira ..5quarts. And also USA Castrol 5w30 is 13500k Oil filters for corolla, Matrix, Camry, Vibe, Yaris, 2k ...
|
Macemy:17k .... Am out of 0w20 ,but I have 5w20 ,just like what the manual says ,you can use 5w20 for now , but on your next oil change switch back to 0w20 |
Macemy:Type of oil depending on engine ....v6 5w30 ......V4 engine 0w20
|
Macemy:17k .. |
donuba61:5w20 .... I sell them and not only that I use civic from 03 to 04 for ehailing. I import them directly from the USA
|
obinnanelson4:I have three civic on uber.. I was advice to change the rims and tires from 14 to 15 .. It will give it better ground clearance and 15 size tires are cheap compare to 14.. |
MoonlightDrive:I just follow manufacturer advice.. Transmission cost too much to be using anyhow fluid... And buying Tokunbo transmission nay try your luck at ladipo... Most Auto parts that are sold in Nigeria is hard to tell the miles on them .....This is why I tell people to always read their owner's manual.. It will save u in the long run |
radautoworks:Looks nice .... Next am in Lagos I will try your food ... do you have cocoa bread and beef patties |
GAZZUZZ:Auto parts business, I will never do am again. Physically demanding job.. And ladipo boyz go frustrate you tired . It's like a Cartel ...never would I do that again... Very time consuming.. |
mammanbawa:This Toyota frame issue has nothing to do with weather bro ..recycle steel or low quality steel or both ......
|
mammanbawa:. Also I forgot to mention early to middle 2000 ..Toyota pick up trucks had a huge frame issue .. The frame was prone to rust ,not because of weather.. They had recall because of that, this I believe was the Toyota Tundra at the time .. When buying pickup trucks at the time people I was told to stay away from Toyota pick up trucks because rusty of frame ... When steel are recycle they are not has strong .. .. When I was doing auto parts in Japan in early 2000. After the cars are dismantled, meaning the cars are strip off to skeleton bones .. The skeleton of the car is than compressed with others cars and than ship to China to be recycle.. And it sold per ton to china. China had huge demand for steel and the demand outweighs the supply .. So that was the reason for recycle steel |
mammanbawa:The steel are not as strong as before ..some cars are prone to rust not weather related ..if you look at some Benz near the door side above the tire.. It is prone to rust, very rusty.. Likely the steel they use on those part of car could not hold the test of time ... picture below is an example of rust am talking.. Few Benz that I bought in the past were like.. Most of the owners stated that side of the car for Benz is prone to rust... The second pic is actually a Benz that I bought.. The owner stated that the garage during the winter.. He said Benz tend to have those problems
|
GAZZUZZ:Let us not forgot how many Nigerians are ready to pay for top dollar car with no rust... whether rust or no rust dey go price am the same way ...unless the rust is so bad that the frame is damaged , in most cases they just paint over the frame ...sometimes too the rust is not even from the snow or weather related ..... Keep in mind a lot of cars are Bern recycled and the steel are sold to China... because of some car company using recycle steel to make their cars.. At times the quality if the steel is not strong enough over time .. And it than gets easily rusted over time .... |
