You develop a brand ,takes time and patience...

My BMW e46 speeds normal, but when on still if I apply more pressure on the pedal it will come out with white smoke. After that nothing like smoke even if am on motion and on high speed nothing like smoke. I do top my oil virtually every week, because the oil do go low.
O boy....that is not a good look at all ...I had similar issues with my elantra ...the oil was shorten and there is was no leak to be found.. My driver kept topping oil every three weeks ,after a month.. The topping turn to every week or so .. Omo I had to ring the engine ...
So in your case omo u have to either ring the engine or buy new engine... those cars require proper maintenance, and most Nigerians can't maintain regular Toyota cars ,so na luxury cars dey want maintain... goodluck bro.. Wish u the best

New engine on my mind. But, cash no dey now. So, na 2019 things be that. Cause I ring the engine for 2016 and i believe the guy who did it tried.
If not for this overheating stuff, I wouldn't be too worried until I gather money for new engine. Some people for Alaoji spare market have equally told me that most engine they sell as Belgium there has been worked on before packaging it for sell.
Nigerians are just too selfish sometimes.
Thank you for your advice.
No problem... ....for future sake, try and invest in better coolant. Look for sellers that import the real stuff ..you can find them on nairaland... I had bad experience looking for coolant.. Am hoping my cars will manage themselves till I import my own

What of after using coolant, and you just see it flowing out through the coolant reservoir tank and within a week, you have been forced to use over two bottles of coolant?
At the same time mechanics keep suggesting one thing or the other?
what do you advice?
..

My personal advice ...just buy new engine... just close your eyes and buy new engine......
The elantra that was ' ring' I bought most of the parts for it in USA pic bellow.... And the mechanic that did the ringing is pretty gud, I like his wrk... but at the same time, am keeping my fingers crossed that the car will last me till I want sell am ..that is my wishful thinking...
Once a mechanic starts messing around the engine of a car.. My brother just know that you are playing with fire ...with the use of fake parts in the country, that engine most likely will never be the same ...the mechanic that my car, he said he has never seen original parts like mines before.. He said and I quote
" he no dey for market at all " .
I try and advocate for people to just do basic car maintenance. But most will tell me na because I want sell market to them . So those that will take advice, will take advice.

Car Talk › Use coolant.... Not water by dru23(op): 8:54am On Nov 04, 2018
Good day nairalander ... I met a fellow uber partner few days ago ... I try educating this uber partner about his car overheating problem... I ask him basic questions like does he use coolant or water... he said he uses water ...I said to the young man, oga use coolant nxt time o. It will reduce the wear and tear on your engine... He said to me that because I sell engine oil , I want to sell him coolant too ... I said well I don't have coolant to sell for now ,but I will start selling soon ..
The young man just looked at me like I want scam... I just left him to be ... we do have a very long way to go in this country.. I hope the link below help..

When it overheated, did the needle touch the red line? I am just so confused.
is there no one in the house who can help me make sense of this nonsense?
I even have always checked to see if oil is mixing with water but it's not. yet they asking me to change top gasket. One even said I should change radiator and top together, as if the money tree dey my backyard. Another said i should just be gathering money for a new engine.
Wish you the best of luck bro ...that engine will need to be rebuilt or replace... do basic maintenance on your car ..your car and wallet will thank you.

My guess is that the engine is gone ...this is one of the major reason I tell people to use coolant ...using coolant would have prevented this problem.. ..the major function of a coolant is to help cool down the engine.. Coolant works a lot better than water... so imagine just water alone boiling inside the radiator, it is over working engine and you will end up replacing the radiator.

The picture below is for my 07 elantra... I had to spend 150k to "ring" the engine ..smoke was coming out and oil drying up very fast.. But I was fast enough before further damage. If you look at the picture below, on the top of the engine is the thermostat.... You see how rusted it is ..this is due to the use of water instead of coolant... so I had to buy another for 5k and spending a total 7k plus workmanship.... Don't be penny wise and pound foolish

Driving under Normal conditions.. You may have a high oil change interval..using a car as uber. Stop and go traffic.. Intra city urban driving? That's considered severe driving.. 5k miles is ideal.
We can agree to disagree ...so in that case with Mobil extended performance will change oil at 10k miles on severe driving condition ....now flap that on the other side... what will be the oil interval if using mineral oil either on normal driving or severe driving....

I don't agree with the guy that says give it 5 years... I will say give it 6months ... we Nigerians don't value maintenance culture at all ...until we put value on those things, will continue to fail in every aspect on things...
I was driving through third mainland bridge few days ago. The first thing that came to mind.. How are they maintaining this bridge? I shook head and continue driving...

That's not a yardstick for maintenance in Nigeria. The system connives to destroy our cars. No good engine oil, no good fuel, so how will these cars last longer. Even 2005 Vw Passats and Boras have all gone. Go to Mm2 and Kano domestic airport and you will wonder if it is the same terminal that has an international airport. Anything government will not last because money is being made if it goes bad
My brother even if there is good engine oil . How many will actually buy it ? We Nigerians just like to Manage things... simple things like coolant they refuse to buy it...

This is the type of result you get in you car cooling system when you use ordinary water instead of engine coolant. Treat your car well and you'll spend less on repairs.
Ha .. I hope they hear o...... People don't realize the importance of coolant in their cars ..especially uber partners...
