Properties › Re: My New Apartment Has No Network Signal Indoors And It Is Affecting My Work by Dshocker(m): 12:28pm On Jun 13 |
babaidan: Good evening everyone.
I need advice regarding a house I recently rented through an agent.
I have not stayed in the apartment for up to 3 days, but I have discovered a major problem that is seriously affecting my work and income. There is virtually no mobile network inside the house. MTN, Airtel, and Glo all fail indoors. I have tested multiple phones and networks in every room, including the parlour, kitchen, and bedrooms. The only way I can get a little signal is by opening the door or going outside. As I write this, my younger brother and friend are outside late at night trying to get network access. I also use several phones and a laptop for my work, so this issue has already affected my productivity and earnings. The building is relatively new, and this problem was never mentioned by the agent before I paid. Had I known that there was no usable network inside the apartment, I would have seriously reconsidered renting it because my work depends heavily on internet access.
My questions are:
If I report this to the landlord and agent and they refuse to refund my money or provide a solution, what are my options?
Can such a matter be reported to the police, or is it strictly a civil matter?
Does this situation give me any legal grounds to seek a refund or compensation, considering I discovered the issue almost immediately after moving in?
I would appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar or has knowledge of tenancy and property matters in Nigeria.
Thank you The landlord might be using network receptor or jammer to frustrate yahoo boys out of his house. |

Sports › Re: South Africa Goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams Laments Lack Of African Support by Dshocker(m): 10:51am On Jun 13 |
Bobloco: South Africa captain Ronwen Williams has expressed disappointment at what he described as a lack of support from fellow African nations following Bafana Bafana’s 2-0 defeat to co-hosts Mexico in their opening 2026 FIFA World Cup match on Thursday night, Saturday PUNCH reports.
The result leaves South Africa with work to do in Group A as they pursue a place in the knockout rounds.
Speaking after the match, Williams admitted he was surprised by the volume of African football fans who appeared to back Mexico rather than an African representative on the global stage, and called for greater unity among Africans during major tournaments.
“Africans have always supported other African countries in every World Cup tournament, but I can’t figure out why our own case is different,” Williams said. “Many Africans supported Mexico, not us, the South Africans. We almost shed tears, but it’s truly sad.”
"As Africans, let’s stand for each other, let’s stand together.”
While some supporters sympathised with the goalkeeper’s sentiments and agreed that African nations should rally behind one another at international competitions, others offered a contrasting view.
A number of social media users from countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Zimbabwe argued that recurring reports of xenophobic attacks on African migrants in South Africa have weakened the sense of continental solidarity, with several referencing past incidents involving foreign nationals living in the country as having shaped how other Africans view South Africa.
Some openly stated that they had supported Mexico in the match, citing those tensions as a factor in their decision.
https://punchng.com/south-africas-williams-hurt-by-lack-of-african-support/ Goalkeeper is lying to himself that he doesn't know the reason why other African nationals supported Mexico. |

Romance › Re: One Broke Week Revealed What Four Years Could Not by Dshocker(m): 10:43am On Jun 13 |
Kalatium: The story is not really about shawarma.
The shawarma is simply the evidence. The real issue is what it revealed.
For four years, one person had quietly made it a habit to think of two people every time he bought food. He never saw generosity as a transaction. He never calculated whether he would get the same treatment in return. He simply shared because he cared.
Then one difficult week arrived. This is not a year, not even a month o, just a week and it revealed a lot about her.
When she bought food only for herself, turned her back, and ate alone, what hurt was not the shawarma. It was the realization that the spirit of the relationship might not have been as mutual as he believed. In a single moment, he discovered that what he saw as "us" may have been viewed as "you and me" all along.
This is why people are reacting so strongly to the story.
Most people are not imagining themselves missing a shawarma. They are imagining all the sacrifices they have made for others, only to discover that the same energy disappears the moment circumstances change.
One of the hardest lessons in life is realizing that some people appreciate your effort without ever intending to match it. They enjoy your generosity, your kindness, your loyalty, your support, and your consistency, but they never see those things as responsibilities they should reciprocate. To them, receiving becomes normal while giving remains optional.
The truth is that relationships are not built during seasons of abundance. Almost anyone can be loving when everything is going well. Character reveals itself when sacrifice becomes necessary, when convenience disappears, and when somebody must choose between their own comfort and showing up for another person.
A relationship does not become one sided overnight. It usually happens gradually, through hundreds of small moments that seem insignificant on their own. One person keeps giving. The other keeps receiving. One person keeps understanding. The other keeps expecting understanding. One person keeps making adjustments. The other keeps benefiting from them.
Eventually, a moment arrives that exposes the imbalance.
The shawarma was simply that moment.
Men can learn something from this. Consistency is admirable, but generosity should not blind you to reality. The goal is not to find someone who enjoys what you provide. The goal is to find someone who values you enough to stand beside you when you have little or nothing to provide.
Women can learn something from it too. The strongest relationships are not built on what someone can do for you. They are built on reciprocity, consideration, and the willingness to show up when circumstances are less than ideal. Sometimes the smallest gestures communicate the deepest loyalty.
At the end of the day, everybody wants to feel chosen, appreciated, and valued. Nobody wants to discover that their importance in a relationship was tied primarily to what they could offer.
The saddest relationships are not the ones where love ends.
They are the ones where one person eventually realizes they were investing in a partnership while the other was simply enjoying the benefits.
What do you think? Was this story really about shawarma, or was it about something much deeper? That is why, in all you do, make sure you marry a kind woman. |

Romance › Re: What You Should Do If A Lady Sleeps Over In Your House But Didn't Wake Up.. by Dshocker(m): 5:45pm On Jun 12 |
giftson102: *What should you do if a girl comes for a sleepover at your house and suddenly refuses to wake up?*
The first thing you should do is Stop panicking and start thinking.
This is not the time to start deleting chats, calling your friends for “advice,” or trying to secretly move her out of the house. If someone is unconscious and not waking up, treat it as a MEDICAL EMERGENCY first.
Here’s what you should do immediately:
🥢 Try to wake her up calmly. Call her name loudly. Shake her gently. Check if she is breathing. If she is not breathing or struggling to breathe, call emergency services immediately.
🥢 Call for help. Contact a hospital, ambulance, trusted neighbour, security, or family member. Do NOT stay alone trying to “handle it quietly.”
🥢 Report yourself immediately. Yes, YOU should be the one to contact the police first and explain what happened. In situations like this, silence and delay can create suspicion later.
🥢 Do not attempt to move her secretly. Trying to carry her out quietly or hide the situation can make things worse legally.
🥢 Preserve everything. Chats, call logs, CCTV footage, food receipts, ride history, and timestamps may later become very important.
🥢 Do not pour water, alcohol, or random substances on her. Panic has caused many people to worsen emergencies.
🥢 Cooperate fully with authorities and medical personnel. Stay calm and tell the truth clearly.
Many people do not realize this. A simple sleepover can turn into a police investigation within hours if something goes wrong.
Sometimes it may be alcohol. Sometimes medication. Sometimes an undisclosed health condition. Sometimes something more serious.
That is why adults must be extremely careful about: 🥢 Who they invite home 🥢 What substances are consumed 🥢 The condition of everyone present and; 🥢 the importance of safety and consent at all times
One carelesss night can change lives forever. Not every emergency is a crime. But your actions immediately after the incident can determine whether you are seen as responsible or suspicious.
Now let me ask you honestly If this happened in your house today, would you know the right thing to do first or would panic take over you before the police even arrive? No justice for poor man in Nigeria, 60% of people in prison are innocent. |

GodCovenant: I start seeing this girl; the worst thing I hate is when someone helps or assists me when it comes to women matters. She works at the same place as my friend. When I went there to see my friend, I saw her. She was showing interest in me, and I wooed her because of her big ass, like normal. And at the beginning she was not playing along well enough, normally playing hard tricks. But me, I don't fall for that shit... I back off.
So all of a sudden she called me. And was showing interest. I know at once my friend has gotten involved even though he didn't tell me. But I noticed a sudden interest.
When I query my friend, like, I know you have talked with this girl. What did you tell her he first denied because he knows I don't like that? He said he only asked her about me, and he told her why she was not reasoning things. I know he was telling her things normally I wouldn't say.
Since then this girl have shown so much interest that I had to nack her. The problem now is she is madly in love, but I am not feeling the same.
I'm now the problem. I have stressed her so much her big ass has reduced in size.
I have shown all signs for her to get the message, but the more I show her, the more interested she is in going to church to pray, thinking she is the problem.
My friend has talked to me. I was like, "What is the plan?" I'm very considerate with words that come out from my mouth. I don't just say things anyhow or make promises.
The pressure was so much that I wanted to see her again. But this time while I was there. There is a way she talked to an elderly man who was the security of where she works. He called the old man, and talked to her disrespectfully.
It gets to me deeply. I was like, "My instinct never failed me; it's just that I mostly question it or don't follow it." For her to talk to that man like that, it says it all.
My intention for the relationship has been misdirected to something I don't plan for, and my friend is spearheading the whole thing for what she has said to her about me. Using he for she, and she for he... Ooomo, better go back to school, rather than chasing a girl with phat-ass. |

My name is not important. I am 34 years old. I have been married for 4 years. I have two children. And I am sitting in my kitchen right now typing this while my husband is in the living room watching football like everything is fine.
Everything is not fine.
HOW WE MET Emeka and I met in 2017 at a mutual friend's birthday party in Lekki. He was charming, funny, well dressed and spoke with the kind of confidence that makes you think a man has his life together.
We dated for 2 years. He was attentive, romantic and consistent. I genuinely believed I had found the right person.
When he proposed in 2019 I said yes without hesitation.
That was the beginning of everything.
THE BRIDE PRICE CONVERSATION
Three months before our wedding, Emeka sat me down and told me the truth about his family's financial situation.
His father had died years earlier leaving nothing behind. His mother was a petty trader in Anambra surviving on whatever his elder brother could send monthly. There were no savings. No family contributions. Nothing.
The bride price his family was supposed to bring to mine was 1.8 million naira plus items.
His family could raise 200,000 naira.
I watched this man cry in front of me. He held my hands and said he did not want to lose me over money. He promised he would pay me back. He promised things would change. He said he was embarrassed but he trusted me enough to be honest.
I was moved. I thought it was brave of him to tell me the truth. I thought I was choosing love over tradition.
I quietly moved money from my savings and gave it to his uncle to present as the family contribution. My own family never knew. They collected the bride price happily and blessed our union.
I paid for my own bride price.
I have never said that sentence out loud before.
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE WEDDING
The first year was manageable. We were still in the honeymoon phase and I told myself we were building together.
But something shifted quietly. So quietly I almost did not notice it happening.
Emeka stopped asking for my opinion on things. Small things first. What to eat. Where to go. Then bigger things. He made a financial decision involving a land purchase without telling me. When I raised it he said he was the man of the house and did not need my permission.
The man of the house.
The man whose bride price I paid.
He started coming home late without explanation. When I asked questions he accused me of being controlling. When I cried he told me I was too emotional. When I brought up our finances he said I always wanted to make him feel small.
I have never once thrown the bride price in his face. Not once. But somehow he seems to know it lives in the room with us. And instead of gratitude it has turned into resentment.
Like I stole something from him by helping him.
THE INCIDENT THAT BROKE ME
Four months ago we had a fight about house expenses. I handle most of the bills because my salary is higher. I asked him to at least cover the children's school fees consistently.
He looked at me and said:
"You like to feel like a man so much. Oya now. Be the man."
I stood there in silence. I did not cry until he left the room.
This is the man I paid bride price for. This is the man I protected from shame in front of my family. This is the man I chose.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
We are not separated. We are not in counseling. We are doing that very Nigerian thing where you carry pain with a straight face and perform happiness for the world.
My mother calls every Sunday. I tell her everything is fine.
My friends see our pictures on Instagram and send heart emojis.
Inside this house there are two people living like polite strangers who share children.
I do not know what I am asking for exactly. Maybe advice. Maybe just to be heard. Maybe I just needed to say the truth somewhere even if it is to strangers.
But if you are a young woman reading this and a man is asking you to quietly cover what his family cannot provide, please think carefully. Love is real but so are consequences.
I loved this man completely. I still do somewhere underneath all this pain.
But I am exhausted.
I will be reading every comment. Please be kind. I am not as strong as this post might make me sound.
