Havesomesense: Endeavor that your name enters 2nd list.
In my school (Federal) every eligible graduate of Law that didn't make first list usually makes the second list. Really? But I was made to understand that there's a slot usually allotted to individual universities. So what if they've exceeded the slot? I'm also a product of a Federal University. Secondly, pls how long does it usually take for them to release the second list? The first one was released barely two weeks ago. |

xcelpro: Go to the dean of your faculty , professor or any senior Lecturer of your faculty and tell them that you really want to go to law school. They will help you out if you state genuine reasons and convince them rightly. Also, do know that is not all the students in your set whose name have been shortlisted to apply for law school will apply due to financial reasons and other challenges. Hmmn...while you are right with your last assertion, the first one cannot work, except of course you are well connected, which I'm not. |
NYSC › Law School Quota System Palaver by Dstar434(op): 7:57am On Aug 26, 2021 |
Good day peeps. Pls I want clarifications concerning this topic. The number of graduates from my faculty far outnumbers the quota given to us by the Nigerian Law School. To make matters worse, there are over 60 candidates on ground from the previous set, thus after the previous ones were considered, the remaining slot was only enough to cater for First class and 2:1 graduates in my own set. The rest of us weren't considered. So pls I will like to ask for advise from Nairaland who have been in this position before, or Know someone who has. How was it resolved? Any hope for the supplementary list? Because I heard a second list (supplementary) is usually released, except that candidates may have to pay more than earlier shortlisted candidates. Secondly, if I decide to proceed for NYSC, What are the likely places or establishments I can be posted to as my Place of Primary Assignment? (Considering the fact that I haven't been called to the Nigerian Bar). God bless.
Mods Pls help move to front page for better reactions. |

Education › Nigerian Law School Releases 2021 Results: 1,326 Fail Bar Exam by Dstar434(op): 7:04am On Jul 07, 2021 |
1,326 fail bar exam as Nigerian Law School releases 2021 results
The Nigerian Law School has released the results of its 2021 final bar examinations with 1,326 candidates (representing 22.98 percent) failing the exercise. The results of the exams, which are a prerequisite for being called to the Nigerian bar, were released on Tuesday.
A breakdown of the results showed that a total of 5,770 students sat for the exams. While 20 students representing (0.07%) came out with a first-class, 432 (7.49%) had second class (upper division).
Further breakdown of the results showed that 2,172 (37.64%) students had second class (lower division) while 1,725 (29.90%) narrowly escaped with a pass.
According to the results, released by the council of legal education, 35 (0.61%) students have conditional pass while 60 (1.04%) students were absent.
The release of the results was earlier fixed for July 3 but was rescheduled to Tuesday by the council.
The results were said to have been released by the council ahead of the call to bar ceremony billed to hold between July 27 and 28 respectively.
This year’s outcome means more students failed the exams when compared to the results of January last year in which 632 out of the 2,515 students that participated in the examinations did not pass.
It is also the highest figure of students who failed the exams since 2017.
In November 2019, 1,230 law graduates failed the exams, which is an increase from April the same year, where 724 failed.
In August 2018, 965 students were recorded to have failed the examinations, representing 16.51 percent of the number of candidates who took the tests at the time.
In 2017, 596 (representing 28 percent) of the students that took the exams at the time failed the exercise.
Candidates can check their results here. https://lifestyle.thecable.ng/1326-fail-bar-exam-as-nigerian-law-school-releases-2021-results/

AyamSad: I'm in my finals and I just found out that I will be carrying over two courses in my extra year . My results just came out.
The saddest thing is that it's even an elective borrowed course from physics. All my mates that borrowed it failed it too. If only I could see the future. I feel doomed and depressed. Regret is eating me up!
I could have done a simpler course. God what led me to physics?
I've been passing all my courses until now. How can I handle this? Just a question pls. Aren't electives supposed to be courses meant to help you meet up with the requisite number of credits for graduation. Are they meant to be carried over? |

hazan041: Please dear nairalanders I need your dearly advice
Am a student from a university here in Nigeria, it happens that I got 3.39 as my first gp which makes me unhappy but I didn't allow it to depress me... So the following semester I got 4.75 and now out of 8 semesters in total.. Am done with 4 now and my cgp totals 4.26 ... I have four semesters left.. Can I make it to 4.5? And what gp do I need to keep for each semester left to achieve that.... Thank you
Note: Don't talk about how grade doesn't matter in my life, am quite aware too as am not even planning to work with the degree Actually, it is still very much possible. Like someone earlier said, u can even still make 4.6 upwards. Just hard work and prayer, and you will eventually smile. |

LordeCalifornia: I can see you are determined to make a 2.1.
The good news is that it is actually very possible for you to make a 2.1, but you would have to do what you have never done before, you would have to get a GPA you have never gotten before.
basically, a 4.5 in both semesters of 500L would suffice, but you cannot gamble with that, so what you would do is, you would have to aim for a 5.0 in both semesters so that you would be on the safest side.....
dedicate all your time, all your energy, all your focus, all your strenght this 500L to your books, study like your life depends on it, let your relationship go on hold for now.
you would graduate with a 2.1. Thanks man |

OP, make the calculations yourself with all the courses you're to offer in the last sessions by assuming Grades or GPAs you should target to get it accomplished.
May God help.... best of luck man Thanks man. |

TheGenius001: My friend the truth is, no one can actually do that without requiring what I am about to ask you for. If you know you want a genuine answer to your question, Give me the analysis of all your GPA since your first year.....
For Example; Year and semester............total quality points/ Total Credit Units
1st Year 1st Semester ----- 98/21 = 4.67 1st Year 2nd Semester------- 100/22. = 4.55
2nd Year 1st Smester------ 105/21= 5.0 2nd Year 2nd Semester------- 94/19 = 4.95........4th year
If you're able to give me all the GPA, then believe me 100%, I will tell you wether it is possible or not. 100 level: 2.32 and 3.41 respectively 200 Level: 2.34 and 3.52 respectively 300 level: 3.48 and 3.72 respectively 400 level: 3.29 and 4.04 respectively. Thanks. |
