Romance / Average Naija Lady Doesn't Think Of What She's Bringing To A Relationship, Why? by duke4ever: 6:13pm On Sep 22, 2012
Could it be blamed on our culture or system of upbringing. We witness cases where mothers will tell their female kids: Adaugo, you will marry a rich husband! Adaoma, you will marry obodo oyibo husband. What will this child be thinking afterward? That her life is dependent on a man or what? Can some say something we don't really know here.

TalkingBird:

Fulfilled prophecies indicate they will surely happen.

For a book that could tell 100's of years before science discovery that the earth of spherical and hangs upon nothing, what else do you think.
The Bible is scientifically accurate. It even contains information that was far ahead of its time. For example, the book of Leviticus contained laws for ancient Israel on quarantine and hygiene when surrounding nations knew nothing about such matters. At a time when there were wrong ideas about the shape of the earth, the Bible referred to it as a circle, or sphere. (Isaiah 40:22) The Bible accurately said that the earth ‘hangs on nothing.’ (Job 26:7) Of course, the Bible is not a science textbook. But when it touches on scientific matters, it is accurate. Is this not what we would expect of a book from God?

A BOOK OF PROPHECY
The Bible contains numerous prophecies, many of which have already been fulfilled. Consider an example. Through the prophet Isaiah, who lived in the eighth century B.C.E., Jehovah foretold that the city of Babylon would be destroyed. (Isaiah 13:19; 14:22, 23) Details were given to show just how this would happen. Invading armies would dry up Babylon’s river and march into the city without a battle. That is not all. Isaiah’s prophecy even named the king who would conquer Babylon—Cyrus.—Isaiah 44:27–45:2.
Some 200 years later—on the night of October 5/6, 539 B.C.E.—an army encamped near Babylon. Who was its commander? A Persian king named Cyrus. The stage was thus set for the fulfillment of an amazing prophecy. But would the army of Cyrus invade Babylon without a battle, as foretold?
The Babylonians were holding a festival that night and felt secure behind their massive city walls. Meanwhile, Cyrus cleverly diverted the water of the river that flowed through the city. Soon the water was shallow enough for his men to cross the riverbed and approach the walls of the city. But how would Cyrus’ army get past Babylon’s walls? For some reason, on that night the doors to the city were carelessly left open!
Regarding Babylon, it was foretold: “She will never be inhabited, nor will she reside for generation after generation. And there the Arab will not pitch his tent, and no shepherds will let their flocks lie down there.” (Isaiah 13:20) This prophecy did more than predict a city’s fall. It showed that Babylon would be desolated permanently. You can see evidence of the fulfillment of these words. The uninhabited site of ancient Babylon—about 50 miles [80 km] south of Baghdad, Iraq—is proof that what Jehovah spoke through Isaiah has been fulfilled: “I will sweep her with the broom of annihilation.”—Isaiah 14:22, 23.
Considering how the Bible is a book of reliable prophecy is faith strengthening, is it not? After all, if Jehovah God has fulfilled his past promises, we have every reason to be confident that he will also fulfill his promise of a paradise earth. (Numbers 23:19) Indeed, we have “hope of the everlasting life which God, who cannot lie, promised before times long lasting.”—Titus 1:2.

Risky_man: Two things here.. either she is not into you or she is seriously in love with someone. The only thing you can do is to just give her some space, stop calling her for some while and also stop sending recharge to her (coz it looks like you trying to use material things to get her). Just keep your cool, what will be will be.
Thanks your advice. Nope, I wasn't trying to entice her with material stuff. I was only sending her the credit to find out if lack of money was the reason she wouldn't call or text. But it persisted. I will heed your advice

Romance / My Challenge, My Love: Please Advice by duke4ever: 12:15pm On Sep 10, 2012
I've known this girl for about 3 months now. Everything about her has been hard -- from getting her number to going out with her, was all work-work. I knew her through her elder sister who I met at a friend's party. I was reluctant @ first when she(her elder sis.) mentioned her name thinking she wouldn't look good as her elder sis. I decided to check her on FB using the name she told me, but lo and behold, a beautiful damsel! Sent a request she welcomed. Sent her a msg she responded well. Requested to know her further she declined. I noticed the apprehension in her, I decided to tell her about her elder sis as my good friend and little about myself too. She accepted to open up a little. We got talking and chating, but getting her number & meeting her was another rigour, though it finally worked after 2 months of relentless effort. We live in different states but a distance of 2hrs drive. Our first meeting was splendid. She expressed her happiness afterall. But my problem with her is that she hardly picks my calls. If she misses my call she won't borther to flash me for a call back. I send her a msgs morning and night, she won't send one back even in a whole week. She chooses when to pick my call and when not to. If we both happen to be online at same time she won't borther to say hii, when I do first she may not respond till I logout. We rarely talk this days and am afraid anything meaningful will come out of this without proper communication and other constraints. As a normal naija girl, she gets credit from me once or twice a week, but will never think of atleast sending me a msg on her on own volition. When I asked why, she would reply, 'nothing'.
Planning to see her again but honestly am so confused and don't know if it worths the effort am investing, like, my time and resources. Is this just her nature or still another girls' thing at guys.
Pls, professional advice. Thanks!

Religion / Re: What Does The Jehovah Witness & Watchtower Magazine Teach That Is Wrong ? BEWARE by duke4ever: 6:26pm On Jul 08, 2012
Though Nineveh repented and was spared, it later
relapsed into wicked ways. Through the prophets
Nahum and Zephaniah, Jehovah predicted its
destruction. Speaking of “the city of bloodshed,”
Jehovah declared that he would destroy Assyria
and make Nineveh a desolate waste. (Nahum 3:1; Zephaniah 2:13) In 632 B.C.E., Nineveh was destroyed, never to rise up again. In a similar way, the world today is guilty of wanton
bloodshed on a far greater scale than that of
ancient Nineveh. For this and other reasons,
Jehovah has decreed that the present wicked
system of things will come to its end in an
unprecedented “great tribulation.”—Matthew 24:21, 22. Still, Jehovah has held back the promised
destruction so that sincere people today, like
repentant ones in Nineveh, can repent and be
spared. The apostle Peter refers to God’s patience in
these terms: “Jehovah is not slow respecting his
promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with you because he does not desire any
to be destroyed but desires all to attain to
repentance.”—2 Peter 3:9, 10, 13. www.wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2004725?q=slowness&p=par

frosbel:

Simple , the answer is in the same verse you quoted but you omitted it.

"Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. 4 Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5 The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth." - Jonah 3:3-5

Two things to note here :

1. Jonah ....proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”

2. The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.

Surely this is easy , right.

If the Ninevites remained steadfast in sin and rebellion, in 40 days they would have been destroyed.

Instead, a fast was declared in the entire city and the citizens repented of their wickedness. This is why the judgement which was to happen in '40 days ' time was never carried out, because the people repented.

Let us read the rest of the chapter :

" When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. 7 This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh:
“By the decree of the king and his nobles:Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink. 8 But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. 9 Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.” When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened. - Jonah 3:6-10

Two things to note here again :

1. When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.
2. When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.

If they had not repented , in 40 days Nineveh would have been destroyed.

Also we both agree that after a long period, they went back into their wickedness and were ultimately destroyed, this was the beginning of the end of the Assyrian empire , Nineveh was it's capital.

In the same way, shouldn't it occur to you that the predictions were made owing to the component signs Jesus said his followers must be on the lookout for @ Matt.24:4-17. Do not forget that it was not simply because Niveva turned from their sinfullness, but all can be attributed to Jehovah's patients with them because the time for its destruction elapsed. It is the same patience that Jehovah is excercising even in our time and age for we read: '9 Jehovah* is not slow respecting his promise,+ as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he
does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all
to attain to repentance.* + 10 Yet Jehovah’s* day + will come as a thief,+ in which the heavens will pass away+ with a hissing noise,+ but the elements* being intensely hot will be dissolved,* + and earth+ and the works in it will be discovered.* +2 Peter 3:9, 10, 13.

true2god: i have vouch not to discus jw issues but i just culdnt stand their blatant falsehood as their light keep brighter and brighter. The truth of today, to a jw, might become false tomorrow in the next edition of watchtower magazine. While attacking the nazi's for persecuting dem in ww2 in almost all their watchtower magazines, for not assistin in the war efort, they neva mention the allied forces persecutin dem as well cos nazis lost the ww2. If d nazis had won, the watchtowr write-up on ww2 incidence would have been the opposite. This is pure hypocricy perfectly crafted to brainwash most jw without questioning. And if u dare question too much u will be disfellowshiped and finally shunned for challengin any wrong watchtower teachin. May God let mature men reason well.

Romance / Re: By This Assertion, Are Many Ladies Bitches? by duke4ever: 8:26am On Jul 08, 2012
cog1: The very essence of that write-up is not in any way to classify all women as bitches,
Rather it distinguishes, sets apart the finer, all encompassing qualities of the ultimate wife material
As opposed to a naughty woman.
To make issues clearer,a naughty woman is said to ride in a man's car, spread her legs for the man, spend his money et al,
Now a wife material may do the same things basically.
But what sets them apart is the fact that the naughty woman can't help the man achieve anything like a wife material can,
Naughty woman can not push him to be successful like a wife material can,
Naughty woman is only a leech, that falls off when she has sucked the last drop of his blood!,
Wife material showers him with positive energy as opposed to naughty woman who depletes his emotional reserve
By constantly keeping him on his toes running around to please her,
Wife material sticks with him through June-July!Naughty woman runs away at the first sign of rain,
Wife material complements him, naughty woman is rude and sarcastic and always throws unnecessary challenges his way,
In summary, the wife material possesses an abundance of superior intrinsic qualities which are sorely lacking in the naughty woman.
So the writer is saying,if you see any lady with these admirable qualities, wife her.
That is the essence of this write-up.
Blessed evening.

Most sensible post so far. Welldone bro.

Any bitch can spend a man's money,
ride in his car, lay up in his crib, order off the menu,
and spread her legs, but only a real woman can help
a man achieve his goals in life, support him when he
broke, constantly pushes him to be successful,
shower him with positive energy, complement him on a regular, and never kicks him while he's down.
Instead, she lifts him up, if you find a woman like
