Though i do agree that Android devices are largely just as good as the Apple iPhone. But there are still some key reasons why you should choose the iPhone over an Android device any-day.. Check out some cool reason why you should pick iPhone over Android devices: Guaranteed software updates for years. iOS is the only platform that guarantees you'll get software updates with new features throughout the life of your device. In fact, Apple supports old iPhones long after most people stop using them. For example, the latest iOS 10 even works on the iPhone 5, which launched four years ago. Android phones rarely get that kind of support. Many manufacturers stop issuing Android updates after a year or so, if you're lucky. That means you're likely to miss the latest and greatest features that come to Android each year. The best apps, first. Both iPhone and Android have a robust selection of apps, but iPhone still tends to get the best apps first. Developers tend to make more money from the iPhone, which is why it often gets preference over Android. The latest example? Nintendo's first Mario game, "Super Mario Run," will be an iPhone exclusive when it launches later this year. No "crapware" from your wireless carrier. Carriers have a lot of control over what appears on Android phones, and they use that leverage to stuff the devices full of apps and services you don't need. Even worse, those apps are often impossible to delete from your device. The iPhone never comes with carrier crapware. The software is exactly the same no matter which carrier you buy your iPhone from. The best support if you have a problem. Apple has a vast network for customer support. Just walk into an Apple Store and someone will help you with your issues. It gets messy with Android phones though. In most cases, you have to deal with your wireless carrier if you have a problem with your phone, not the manufacturer, which means you're working with people who aren't as well-versed in how your device works. But you love to stick with Android, then then this will be good news!... Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/10/4-reasons-why-you-should-pick-iphone.html#Yl7w6WL8Mmd4rerw.99

Check out a letter written by a pained husband to a popular online gossip advice column: “We exchanged vows in a colorful wedding a few weeks back, even though I highly suspected that my wife was already pregnant with another man’s baby, but I married her anyway.. My suspicions became true when we recently visited a family doctor for routine check ups. The doctor said she was four months pregnant. My Christian values ensured that I and my wife did not engage in sexual activities before tying the knot, therefore cementing my belief that she cheated on me. I have since been heartbroken because I feel that I was cheated into marriage. I am seriously contemplating opting out even after sacrificing time during courtship and spending on a costly wedding. Despite caring for my wife I cannot forgive her because there is no trust in our relationship.” Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/09/omg-husband-waits-to-have-sex-until.html#zAfcCrB9E5Kmb6cy.99 |
Wow! AT&T says it has developed a new technology it calls AirGig, which links up to standard power lines and uses a special transmitter to deliver super-fast gigabit internet wirelessly. The project is only in its early test phases for now, and AT&T hasn't announced where and when it'll deploy it publicly. But based on the company's blog post announcing AirGig, it sounds like AT&T will likely target rural areas at first. Gigabit internet is several times faster than the standard broadband most people get in their home. The AirGig project attaches antennas to existing power lines and uses a millimeter wave frequency to broadcast gigabit internet to devices. AT&T wouldn't describe exactly how the technology works, but would only say it's not tapping into the power of the power line. AT&T says AirGig is several times cheaper than standard wireless internet because it's cheaper for the company to deploy and deliver. It can also be used over open wireless spectrum. AT&T isn't the only company exploring wireless gigabit internet. Google, Facebook, and the startup Starry are all experimenting with ways to bathe the world in super-fast wireless internet access. For now, the technology is clearly in its early days, but it has the potential to create more competition among companies for broadband access and provide broadband to underserved areas. If what these Astrophysicists who have been calculating when the sun will destroy the earth is saying, is anything to go by then this is no good news as 'Armageddon will come sooner than expected. Although the date range in which it is likely to happen is some 3.5 billion years from today — admittedly some time away — the process will happen far quicker than originally expected. Jillian Scudder of the University of Sussex says that the sun is brightening by 10 per cent every billion years. When the sun is 40 per cent brighter, it will have melted all the ice caps and stripped all moisture from the earth’s air. According to Business Insider, the sun survives by burning hydrogen atoms into helium atoms in its core. It burns through 600 million tons of hydrogen every second —but as the sun’s core becomes saturated with this helium, it shrinks. This causes nuclear fusion reactions to speed up, meaning that the sun spits out more energy. In short, it’s going to get a whole lot warmer. Scudder told the website: "Once hydrogen has stopped burning in the core of the sun, the star has formally left the main sequence and can be considered a red giant. It will then spend about a billion years expanding and burning helium in its core, with a shell around it where hydrogen is still able to fuse into helium. “The predictions for what exactly will happen to Earth as the Sun brightens over the next billion years are pretty uncertain. But the general gist is that the increasing heat from the sun will cause more water to evaporate off the surface, and be held in the atmosphere instead. “The water then acts as a greenhouse gas, which traps more incoming heat, which speeds up the evaporation.” Fortunately, the earth is likely to be hit by an asteroid long before then. According to new research featured in Psychology Spot and reported by Good Housekeeping, the age-old saying about getting your intelligence from your mother turns out to be true. The report says, babies are born with conditioned genes that work differently depending on whether they’re from your mum or your dad. And when it comes to intelligence, well it seems you get them directly from your mama. People used to believe cleverness (or lack of) were from your mother and your father, but actually that’s not the case. Allow us to explain the science bit, for anyone who switched off during biology, or who listened but didn’t get it anyway (blame your mother!) You see, intelligence genes are located in the X chromosome and since women carry two, that means children are twice as likely to get their intelligence from their mum. And even some of your dad’s clever genes do sneak into yours, they likely won’t have any impact on your brain because they only work if they come from your mum. “If that same gene is inherited from the father, it is deactivated,” reports the study. “Obviously, other genes work the opposite, are activated only if they come from the father.” Still not convinced you and your mum are an intelligence match? The Medical Research Council Social and Public Health Sciences Unit in the United States did a study on mothers back in 1994 and interviewed 12,686 young people between the ages of 14 and 22. Their questions focused on the children’s IQ, race, education and socioeconomic status. The best predictor of intelligence? The IQ of their mother. So next time you flunk an exam or drop a did-you-really-say-that? dumb comment, it’s totally acceptable to blame your mum. Science says it’s all her fault. Do you agree you got your intelligence from your mother? Drop your answers in the comment section or tweet at us @d_duketee Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/09/you-have-your-mum-to-thank-for-your.html#Y8OxpkCpKpRcSrLc.99

A family fled their home after dozens of deadly spider known as the banana spider, believed to have a bite that can kill within a few hours - also causing abdominal cramps, hypothermia, blurred vision and convulsions as well as long and painful erections in males burst out of a bunch of bananas they bought from their local supermarket. Ashley Gamble, partner Sophia Newcombe, and their two daughters were left terrified after dozens of Brazilian wandering spiders - among the most venomous in the world - emerged from a nest that was stuck to banana they’d bought from their local Asda. The arachnids spilled onto the family’s kitchen floor in what they said was like “something out of a horror movie”, The Sun reported. The spiders are found throughout South America, particularly in Brazil, but have also been known to travel to North America and Europe in bananas. Mr Gamble reportedly try to suck the unwelcome visitors up with a vacuum cleaner, but is terrified he may have missed some of the poisonous arachnids so fled the house with his family. The forklift truck driver is now staying with his parents and is refusing to return to the house until Asda pays for it to be fumigated. Asda has apologised to the Ashley and said the incident was “extremely rare”. But the 28-year-old said they had ‘fobbed him off’, first offering him a refund for the bananas then telling him the spiders would “die soon anyway”. “It’ll cost hundreds of pounds to have the house fumigated and I just don’t have the money,” he told The Sun. “There is no way we’re going back until the house is completely cleared. “I just can’t risk it with the children.” Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/09/deadly-erection-causing-spider-forces.html#d1iJHHjesFWgpSkK.99

Mother Teresa the founder of the Missionaries of Charity of Kolkata who died in 1997, who was revered for her work with the poor in India, has been proclaimed a saint by Pope Francis in a ceremony at the Vatican. Tens of thousands of pilgrims had flocked to St Peter's Square for the Mass and canonisation. Two miraculous cures of the sick after Mother Teresa's death in 1997 have been attributed to her intercession. Many pilgrims arrived at the Vatican before dawn on Sunday to get a good spot among the masses for the ceremony. Cardinal Angelo Amato read a brief biography of Mother Teresa's work, then asked the Pope to canonise her in the name of the Church. Pope Francis responded: "After due deliberation and frequent prayer for divine assistance, and having sought the counsel of many of our brother bishops, we declare and define Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint and we enrol her among the saints, decreeing that she is to be venerated as such by the whole Church." A Romanian hacker nicknamed "Guccifer" who helped expose the existence of a private email domain Hillary Clinton used when she was U.S. secretary of state was sentenced on Thursday to 52 months in prison by a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia. Marcel Lazar, 44, who used the alias online, had pleaded guilty in May to charges including unauthorized access to a protected computer and aggravated identity theft after being extradited from Romania. Lazar's public defender, Shannon Quill, was not immediately available for comment. Lazar has said in interviews he breached Clinton's private server at her home in Chappaqua, New York, but law enforcement and national security officials say that claim is meritless. Lazar is believed to have hacked into email accounts of about 100 victims between 2012 and 2014. They include prominent political figures such as former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a relative of former President George W. Bush and Sidney Blumenthal, a former Clinton White House aide and an unofficial adviser to Clinton. Clinton is now the Democratic nominee for president. Iceland has been forced to bow to pressure from elves and uncover a supposedly enchanted elfin rock after highway workers accidentally buried it - infuriating the mythical creatures, reports said Tuesday. The angry elves were suspected of causing a series of mishaps after the rock was covered over when workers cleared away the debris from a landslide, the Morgunbladid daily reported. Iceland is no stranger to bending to the will of its elfin population. Construction sites have previously been moved so as not to disturb the creatures and fishermen have refused to go to sea because of their warnings: in Iceland, elves are part of every day life. Sveinn Zophoniasson, who works for the Bass road construction company, told the paper that his woes began in August 2015 in Siglufjordur, close to the site of the so-called "elfin lady stone" that was covered with earth following efforts to cleat a mudslide from a highway. After the landslide was cleared, the road was subsequently flooded and a colleague of Zophoniasson who came to clear the route was injured. Then industrial machinery began to fail and a journalist who came to cover the growing chaos fell into a mud pool and had to be pulled to safety. "Nobody even thought of the rock," even though the area is regarded as a sacred place in local folklore, said Zophoniasson. The decision was made that the Iceland Road Administration would unearth the rock -- an artefact according to a 2012 law to protect Iceland's elfin heritage -- and it was subsequently cleaned with a pressure washer last week. Elves are described by the hundreds of people who claim to have seen them as simple, normally peaceful creatures that look like humans -- but smaller. In order to clear his name in the ongoing corruption-related charges against him, Chief Olu Falae has submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) an email correspondence between him and a former chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih. Chief Falae tendered the email as an evidence in the probe linking him to N100m election funds as the EFCC close in on him. In the said email, Chief Anenih mentioned that he was acting on the instruction of former President Goodluck Jonathan to disburse the funds. A source at the EFCC told The Punch that in the email dated March 2015, Anenih informed Falae that N100m had been approved by Jonathan and would be handed over to him (Falae). “In the email, Anenih told Chief Falae, who is the chairman of the SDP that N100m had been approved by President Jonathan as part of the agreement between the PDP and the SDP ahead of the presidential election. “He further urged Falae to provide an account which the money would be paid into,” the source said. The N100m, which was said to have emanated from the imprest account of the ONSA in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It was paid into the account of Marreco Limited, a company where Falae is chairman. The fund was credited into the company’s United Bank for Africa Plc account, 1000627022, on March 25, 2015. Former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki is still under detention trying to clear his name. Spokesman for Falae, Mr Alfa Mohammed confirmed that Falae had submitted all correspondence between Falae and the PDP. “We had a letter of agreement between the PDP and the SDP regarding cooperation between the two parties for the election. “There was an email from Anenih stating that Mr. President (Jonathan) told him to transfer the money to that effect. “We have submitted everything to the EFCC, but the EFCC has not deemed it fit to invite Anenih which shows that it is people within the All Progressives Congress that are just trying to rubbish the image of Chief Falae, who has served meritoriously as a permanent secretary, a SGF and a finance minister,” Mohammed said. Mohammed went on to say the PDP still owed the SDP about N70m and it was unrealistic of the EFCC to ask Falae to return the N100m, adding that Falae could not have known at that time that the Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/08/arms-deal-scandal-drama-as-olu-falae.html#T3cyz2Mm9FFP4mCI.99

According to reports, The South Korean ministry of health and welfare made an announcement urging the citizens to have more sex following a 5.3 per cent drop in new born babies in the first five months of 2016 compares to the same time in 2015. Among the "emergency measures" to enthuse its populace into starting, or growing, their family are financial support for couples seeking fertility treatment and extra paternity leave for parents welcoming a second child. Health Minister Chung Chin-youb said, The government prepared such emergency measures with a desperate mind that we must exert all possible efforts to block the current low birth rate that continues to decline But these still fall short of transforming the sense of defeat felt by youths into a sense of hope, or to console the working mums who shed tears during our policy debate. The BBC reports that South Korea's birth rate has plummeted since the 1960s despite billions of pounds worth of government spending. The government will spend up to £44m on the new measures, according to the Korea Times, although there are fears that state policy will not be able to over power a corporate culture seen as "family-unfriendly" Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/08/please-have-more-sex-south-korea-urges.html#4Sob1DpW0M5mjIV2.99

Google will rank mobile web sites that display annoying pop-up ads and other distractions lower in its search results starting early next year, the web giant announced today. The move is intended to combat jarring experiences that sometimes force themselves upon users when they're navigating to a page on their phone or tablet that Google marks as "mobile-friendly." Those surprises include showing a popup that covers the main content of the page, displaying an alert bubble or other elements (called interstitials) that the user must dismiss, and placing content "below the fold," requiring users to scroll down to see it. "Pages that show intrusive interstitials provide a poorer experience to users than other pages where content is immediately accessible," Google product manager Doantam Phan wrote in a blog post. "This can be problematic on mobile devices where screens are often smaller. To improve the mobile search experience, after January 10, 2017, pages where content is not easily accessible to a user on the transition from the mobile search results may not rank as highly." As part of the search algorithm changes, Google will also be retiring the mobile-friendly label. It says more than 85 percent of sites currently displayed in its mobile search results meet the mobile-friendly requirements. Sites that don't will be ranked lower in the results. The changes could potentially affect a vast number of mainstream websites. Yelp, for instance, often shows a full-screen advertisement for its app on the mobile version of its website, requiring viewers to scroll down in order to read reviews. January's changes won't penalize mobile pop-ups that Google determines to be unintrusive or provide a public service. Those include pop-ups advising users of a site's cookie policy, or age verification pop-ups for sites with objectionable content. Italy began the painful task of burying its dead Saturday following a massive earthquake - as aftershocks rattled the heart of the country and the death toll climbed to 290. In Ascoli Piceno province, a state funeral was held in a local gym. Thirty-five coffins adorned with flowers and framed photographs sat in three rows for victims from the town of Arquata del Tronto. Taped at the foot of each coffin was the name of the deceased printed on white paper. Before the ceremony, family members clustered around each coffin, one teenager sitting on the floor next to one, weeping inconsolably. One family encircled a coffin with peach-colored flowers and held each other in a long embrace. Bishop Giovanni d'Ercole led the ceremony, telling the painful story of a little girl who was saved from the rubble, her sister found dead on top of her, apparently shielding her sibling. "They were holding each other, between them in embrace, both death and life," he said. "A lot of the dead were children. So a thought to you young people -- we are now living in a time of war ... The earthquake is like a war because nature does not forgive. We have to defend ourselves because it is wise. We must have a dialogue with nature and never provoke nature," he said. But he also said that after the tragedy, the communities affected would be given new life: "A new spring and a new birth come." YUCK! Firemen in Norway came to the rescue Friday of a man who climbed into an outdoor public toilet to retrieve a friend's cell phone, after he got stuck in the tank. Cato Berntsen Larsen, 20, was able to climb through the toilet seat opening to recover the phone lying at the bottom of the outhouse, but was unable to climb back out again. "First we tried to get the phone with a stick but that didn't work. So I jumped in," he told daily VG. "I was down there an hour, I was panicking," he said, adding there were "animals" crawling on his body. Overcome by nausea and vomiting, he tried in vain to pull himself of the tank, and which is only emptied once a year, according to VG. He ultimately decided to contact the fire brigade to help end his ordeal in the small town of Drammen outside Oslo. "It was a fairly easy task for us. We sent a four-man crew with a chainsaw and they cut open the front of the (plastic) toilet," fire brigade spokeswoman Tina Brock told AFP. The rescue was a "first" for the local fire brigade, she acknowledged. "It was pretty full down there." The phone was not recovered. Famous Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, last week called on the attendees of the United Nation's World Humanitarian day to re-think the refugee crisis. Read her powerful speech below: “Nobody is ever just a refugee,” said the novelist and non-fiction writer, delivering the keynote address at the event in New York. “Nobody is ever just a single thing. And yet, in the public discourse today, we often speak of people as a single a thing. Refugee. Immigrant.” Sub-Saharan Africa is home to more than a quarter of the world’s refugee population, about 18 million people fleeing conflict in the Central African Republic, South Sudan, Somalia, and elsewhere. In my language, Igbo, the word for ‘love’ is ‘ifunanya’ and its literal translation is, ‘to see.’ So I would like to suggest today that this is a time for a new narrative, a narrative in which we truly see those about whom we speak. Let us tell a different story. Let us remember that the movement of human beings on earth is not new. Human history is a history of movement and mingling. Let us remember that we are not just bones and flesh. We are emotional beings. We all share a desire to be valued, a desire to matter. Let us remember that dignity is as important as food. Adichie, the author of Americanah and several other books, has a personal connection to migration. Her parents were displaced during the Nigeria-Biafra war and lived as refugees for three years. She proposed a new way of thinking and talking about those in need. Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/08/nobody-is-ever-refugee-powerful-speech.html#Pqk3EaDorElf4Maz.99 |

Her phone was constantly vibrating with new notifications from men aged between 30 to 50. Within a month of signing up to three websites - Craiglist, We Love Dates and Your Lovers - Tashion agreed to meet her first admirer, a 40-year-old married doctor, for a coffee. She said: 'I had been completely open about being pre-op transgender and really didn't think anyone would be interested in me. 'Since living as a woman from age 16 I'd never experienced that acceptance. I yearned for it.' Tashion first came out as gay at 13, but quickly realised that she was in the wrong body, and started cross-dressing three years later. She says: 'I'd been bombarded with messages and seemed to attract a particular man. Older, married and usually with children. 'Of course I felt a bit guilty, but when I met them and talked through their back stories I actually felt sorry for them. 'These men were closeted and not able to express their real selves. I'd been there and could sympathise.' Four months after uploading her digital profile, she took the next step and started having sexual relationships. Tashion explains: 'I took it slow at first, enjoying their company and keeping it casual. But in April I took the plunge and decided to start sleeping with them. This King Penguin from Edinburgh Zoo was recently promoted to Brigadier in the Royal Norwegian Guard. The Penguin named Sir Nils Olav III was awarded the prestigious title during a special ceremony at the zoo with 50 of Norway's guardsmen in attendance. Sir Olav III marched down the line of soldiers standing at attention before he was presented with an insignia on his wing and saluted by an officer. His march was a fairly slow one, so he probably will need further ground training, but he eventually completed the task at hand, even if he was a bit distracted. Edinburgh Zoo has a long history with penguins and Norway, and in 1913 the Norwegian family of Christian Salvesen presented the zoo with its first ever king penguin. Nils Olav I was adopted by Norway's Guard in 1972 and named the army's mascot. His name is a combination of Major Nils Egelien, who organised the adoption, and the then-King of Norway, King Olav. During their lives, Sir Olav I, II and III have seen a gradual move up in the ranks, first from Corporal to Sergeant, eventually Colonel-in-Chief and, finally, Knighthood in 2008. The Edinburgh Zoo says Sir Olav III is regarded very highly among the Norwegian guardsmen and has received these honours due to his "outstanding service and good conduct" Read more at http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/08/king-penguin-to-brigadier-in-royal.html#Vw1Aa3hoSuOWaiKs.99

'Selfie Lovers' beware, You may be inviting pains while taking selfies, according to this new report, repeated selfie taking may lead to an orthopaedic problem termed as selfie elbow. This was first reported when a TV journalist in the US developed a nagging pain on her elbow. On visiting the doctor, she found out that the pain was actually caused by her love for taking selfies. The constant movement and positioning of her elbows in weird ways, while taking selfies, led to the pain, which was caused due to overuse of her muscles and nerves. Technology is undoubtedly helping us in our daily lives, but, we have reached a point where we tend to use gadgets extensively, and in ways, that may be detrimental to our health. Lets take a look at how excessive usage of technology and gadgets can actually harm us: Radiation from gadgets: Almost all gadgets – cell phones, iPods and iPads, laptops, microwave ovens, etc, emit radiation. While studies have not proven any direct link between cancer and radiation from gadgets, some research has shown that constant exposure to radiation, over a period of time, may affect human cells, that might possibly help tumours grow. While there are alternating theories to this, some studies have also shown that cell phones could possibly reduce sperm count, particularly for those who keep their phones in their pockets for a long time. Insomnia: The constant exposure to the light emitted from gadgets such as mobile phones, laptops, iPads, and others, can interfere with our body’s natural ability to process daylight, and understand when it is time to sleep. The light suppresses the release of melatonin, which is the hormone responsible for sleep, hence affecting our circadian rhythm. This is the same with playing video games, or even watching TV before going to sleep. Increases risk of infections: We constantly keep touching our mobile phones, and, as we go about our daily business, end up transferring disease-prone germs like E-Coli on to it. When cell phones change hands, so do the bacteria. A study conducted by London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Queen Mary, University of London, found that out of 390 cell phones and hands that were sampled to measure levels of bacteria, 92 percent of the cell phones, and 82 percent of the hands had bacteria on them. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: The repetitive motion which is involved while typing or texting on a cell phone, or laptop, can lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Also known as video thumb or swipers thumb, this is characterised by soreness or cramping in the fingers, wrist and forearm, which is often caused by the overuse while typing. This happens when a specific nerve that is located in a tunnel in the wrist gets squeezed by tunnels around it, which get inflamed. This results in pain in the hand and wrist, which can progress to the arm and neck, if not treated. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is common in people who constantly use their fine motor skills. Obesity: More and more children, right from a very young age, are getting addicted to gadgets, and often, prefer playing video games or browsing the internet, to going out and playing. The same is happening to adults as well. This sedentary lifestyle, coupled with unhealthy eating, can lead to obesity in the long run, which in turns causes a range of illnesses - from diabetes and high blood pressure, to cardiovascular diseases and even cancer. Stress: Its not just physical strain that can result from too much time spent with technology - a Swedish research team from the University of Gothenburg has found that people using Facebook constantly, and for long hours daily, are at a higher risk of developing stress, depression and mental illnesses. Social comparison, where the kind of photographs and posts of vacations, children or professional and personal achievements that friends put up, cause jealousy, the constant need to compare one’s social life with others, the need for likes and comments on posts and photos, cause stress and, sometimes, may lead to depression. Too much time spent online also leads to neglecting other duties, which again, can cause stress. Hearing damage: We tend to take our music with us wherever we go, and this constant exposure to loud noise using headphones, can raise the risk of ear damage and subsequent hearing loss. While our ears can take high decibles for a short period, prolonged exposure to loud noise, is harmful. And earphones take the noise directly into the ear, hence causing damage to the ear drums.
