The new propaganda images released by ISIS in Libya, claiming to show the execution of three spies by a disabled man in a wheelchair was on Tuesday by the Libyan arm of the terrorist group. The new images were released, just as U.S secretary of State John Kerry addressed world leaders in Rome on Tuesday, pressing for more direct action against ISIS in Libya. The Wheelchair bound executioner was seen in one of the images crucifying one of the men kneeling in an orange jumpsuit while tied to a rope in Sirte, central Libya the town of late Libyan leader Muammar gaddafi. Sirte is the group's only stronghold in the North African country. Another image shows a man with what appears to be a bloodied and battered face, tied up and 'crucified' on the structure. A note taped to his body reportedly reads 'spy' A third image shows a man without a note, however, it is not clear whether or not this is the same person or whether he is dead or alive. ISIS forces have attacked oil infrastructure and established a foothold in Sirte, exploiting Libya's current power vacuum where two rival governments have been battling for supremacy. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/isis-wheelchair-executioner-executes.html#sthash.qfl2514r.dpuf

According to new reports, Osama Bin Laden was inspired to carry out the 9/11 deadly terrorist attacks on the World trade centre by Egyptian pilot, Gameel Al-Batouti, who crashed EgyptAir Flight 990 into the Atlantic ocean in murder-suicide on October 31, 1999, killing all 217 people aboard, including 100 Americans. Bin Laden (L) Pilot Gameel Al-Batouti (R) The experienced pilot, 59, who was flying from Los Angeles to Cairo, overrode the flight's autopilot and sent the plane nosediving into the Atlantic Ocean. While terrorism was considered as a possible motive, investigators found he had been facing disciplinary issues at work and was about to be banned from flying transatlantic routes. When Bin Laden heard the news of Al-Batouti murder-suicide, he said: 'Why didn't he crash into a building?'. Two years later, precisely September 11, 2001, his suicide attackers carried out the single deadliest terror attack on U.S. soil by flying two American airliners into the World Trade Centre. Two more planes were hijacked, one of which struck the Pentagon, while the other crashed into a field after passengers overcame the terrorists. In total, almost 3,000 people were killed. The idea was formed in its entirety when bin Laden later met with the attack's principal architect, Khalid Sheik Mohammed, who had been independently considering hijacking U.S. planes. Mohammed was captured in Pakistan in 2003 and is currently serving terms in Guatanamo Bay - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/911-attacks-bin-laden-inspired-by.html#sthash.rcA63EaQ.dpuf

Wow! This is a plus for Africa and a BIG thumps up to Uganda for this feat, It goes further to show the can do spirit of Africans... Ugandan engineers have built a solar-powered electric bus that they say is a first of its kind in East Africa and think it will revolutionize the automative market in the region. The Kayoola, as its called, is a 35-seater that can run for up to 80 kilometers on two power banks that can also be recharged by solar panels installed on the roof of the bus. Paul Musasizi, chief executive officer of Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC), the state-funded company behind the vehicle, says with the potential for solar power in Uganda, it only made sense that engineers started to leverage the energy source for cars. “The bus is purely electric and our idea is to test the strength of solar energy in enabling people to move,” he told a local newspaper. he company built the prototype with funds from the Ugandan government. But KMC is hoping to attract investors to the project to start producing the buses for the mass market by 2018 at a retail price of $58,000. Typically, 35-seater buses retail between $35,000 to $50,000. “As we continue with developing concepts, we are also studying the market,” Doreen Orishaba, one of the engineers in the project, told Uganda’s Observer newspaper. “We want to see that we don’t make vehicles for stocking but for production on orders.” This is not KMC’s first foray into energy efficient car-making. Last year, the company introduced the Kiira Smack, a petrol-electric hybrid that it said would come into the market by 2018 as well for a $20,000 price. But analysts were doubtful at the time of the project’s commercial viability. The price could prove prohibitive, they argued, in a market that sells an estimated 20,000 cars a year. Additionally, in a part of the world where electricity is not a widely available commodity, electric dependent cars could put undue pressure on national grids. But by using solar as a power source for the Kayoola, KMC may have found a way to overcome that challenge in this instance. “Uganda being one of the 13 countries positioned along the equator, gives us about eight hours of significant solar energy that can be harvested,” Musasizi says. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/ugandan-engineers-builds-solar-powered.html#sthash.aC3J8ctW.dpuf

A rare skin condition that leaves a brother and sister in India looking like they're in their 80's have left their poor parent baffled and at the same time dejected. 7-year-old, Anjali Kumari, and her 18-months-old brother Keshav Kumar, have wrinkled skin, suffer pain in their joints and swollen faces. But their parents, Shatrughan Rajak, 40 and wife Rinki Devi, 35, from Ranchi, in Jharkhand, eastern India, and oldest daughter Shilpi, 11, do not suffer from the disease. While the siblings are teased for their looks and are often stared at on the streets they dream of a cure; but doctors in India believe they suffer from a form of Progeria as well as a disease called Cutis Laxa and claim there is no treatment. Father Shatrughan, a laundry man earning 4,500 Rupees a month (£45), said: ‘We dream there is a cure for my children. People in our community call them ‘old’ and it’s heartbreaking. We’ve tried to get help from our local doctors but they have told us our only hope is from overseas.’ After Rinki gave birth to her first daughter Shilpi, who was normal, they were quick to build their family, but when their second daughter Anjali was just six months old she was rushed to hospital with pneumonia. ‘After she recovered from pneumonia the moisture in her body just seemed to dry up and her skin loosened,’ added Shatrughan. ‘We took her back to our doctor at a government hospital but they said there’s no cure for her and her life was in the lord’s hand. They added they will let me know if there’s a cure but I never heard from them again. Ever since she’s aged very quickly.’ - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/agony-of-poor-indian-family-who-gave.html#sthash.5Bis7CL9.dpuf

Since the 1980s, the Italian town of Ostana had not seen the birth of a single baby. But last week, a dream came true, as the mayor of the small town said. A baby was born. The first in 28 years. According to La Stampa, the town has only 85 inhabitants, including newborn Pablo. Its population has continuously fallen —a fate shared by many other Italian towns and villages. "The real decline started in 1975, with 17 babies between 1976 and 1987, when the last boy was born — until little Pablo," Mayor Giacomo Lombardo was quoted as saying. A party will be held to celebrate what he hopes will be the start of a reversal of that trend. But the population decline will be hard to stop, no matter what ideas Lombardo comes up with. Younger Italians in particular say there are few attractive job prospects in rural areas. Many have moved to cities, leaving their hometowns to the elderly. Ostana, which is in northern Italy, has only one shop, a bar and two restaurants, according to the Italian news site the Local. Some parts of northern Italy have been hit harder than others. But the south, including the island of Sicily, has faced more dramatic demographic changes in recent decades. Reactions have seemed panicked at times. Another Italian town, for instance, recently made it mandatory for its inhabitants to attend a health check. The expressed goal of that initiative: slow down death rates to keep the town alive. Skeptics joked that the idea came close to "making it illegal to die." Last year, Gangi, a town on the island of Sicily, had yet another idea: Its council decided to sell about 20 houses for less than $2. At least 50 people applied for the opportunity. There was a catch, of course: The buyers had to agree that they would renovate the properties. Although Gangi still has 7,000 inhabitants, its leaders fear that it might soon face the same decline as Ostana. The arrival of baby Pablo has certainly been welcomed in Ostana, according to the mayor. "It's great to finally have someone born here, and it shows that our efforts to reverse population decline are slowly working," Lombardo was quoted as saying. Lombardo has tried to create jobs in order to prevent other young people from leaving the town. Pablo might be the first indication that his strategy is working. His parents wanted to move away several years ago but stayed after they were offered the opportunity to work at a mountain refuge. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/unbelievable-first-baby-born-in-ostana.html#sthash.1OnoswhM.dpuf

Down winding paths through dense jungles, Gerald Mukisa kicks up the dry leaves noisily with his feet to provide warning sounds, noting that the late afternoon heat is "snake time". The forest is calm. Only the sound of insects, birdsong and the rustle of monkeys in the jungle canopy above disturb the air. It was here in the thick woodland of Zika forest, some 25 kilometres (15 miles) from Uganda's capital Kampala, that the mosquito-borne Zika virus was first discovered in 1947. The virus, linked to a surge in birth defects, is "spreading explosively", World Health Organization chief Margaret Chan said this week. An emergency meeting on the outbreak is due on February 1. Mukisa, who has worked to guard the forest for the past seven years, only found out about the virus that takes its name two weeks ago. "A few people who live nearby the forest and have heard about it are getting worried," he said. "Many others don't know about it." Days ago, the tropical Zika forest was a little-known reserve visited only by bird watchers and scientists. "Students come every week, coming from all over the world," said Mukisa, 50, proudly showing off a guest book with signatures and comments from the US, Canada, France and Germany, among other countries. "There are so many types of trees, and all sorts of birds." Most local cases of the virus were mild, resulting in rash, fever, and red eyes in a small fraction of cases. Global health authorities barely took notice until an outbreak on the Micronesian island of Yap in 2007. An outbreak that began last year in Brazil has been blamed for a surge in birth defects with thousands of babies born with small heads, an incurable and sometimes fatal condition known as microcephaly. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/into-zikas-heart-ugandan-forest-where.html#sthash.PgjTfglA.dpuf

Good morning beautiful people, By now you must have heard about Dr Tope Aluko, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary in Ekiti State, who opened a can of worms yesterday on yet another Gate (Ekiti State Gubernatorial elections 2014 or lemme just say EkitiGate), While we still have so many opened Gates from #DasukiGate to #NimasaGate that are yet to be closed. The internet have gone crazy since last night, with a thousand and one questions, memes and many insinuations. Check out what Dr. Obinna Aligwekwe, a medical doctor and social commentator per excellence has to say about the many gates and state of the nation today below: I dont know where to start; Perhaps I would start with life first. May the souls of all those who perished in those sadistic attacks by Boko Haram find peace. And in simple English: THE WAR ON TERROR IS NOT YET OVER. Now to Ekitigate: Dr Aluko's "confession" will not shock any Nigerian who reasons deeply. People have been rigging elections since the days of OBJ. Once in a while, we oohh and ahhh over those whose petty quarrels force them to come out in the open. There are many rigging machines in State houses all over Nigeria where the traducers are still chummy in their collective rape of the people, that required synergy in oppression still very much intact. Will I justify or rationalise Dr. Aluko? Definitely not. Here is a thief who has confessed, and brought evidence with which to nail himself. Ordinarily that should be the very last interview he would be granting as a free man, in a very long time. But we all know that may not be the case. In any case, anybody who is caught should face the music, for that little chance for progress. But time would confirm if Dr. Aluko acted out of contrition, or simply carried out a hatchet job to nail a criminal for a crime that has been committed virtually all over Nigeria. Nigeria would likely benefit from the former, but the latter? Let me just say, this is not the first time election riggers have confessed. The previous riggers did so before a sitting president, and NOTHING happened. No...., scratch that.....something did happen, they have remained relevant in politics ever since. The sad issue here is, like I said before, its the drama that Nigerians like. We love the smell of good soup, but do not appreciate the effort used in its preparation. We want to jail EVERYBODY, but pay lip service to the process that will ensure that. Take a look at the timeline below: - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/the-dawn-of-gates-in-nigeria-when-will.html#sthash.ZMW6mZ38.dpuf |
Hello Lovelies, Have you ever wondered about the story behind your automobile's logo? Okay let's take a peep into the stories behind the origin of some of the world's best car logos, from the three-pointed-star logo of the Mercedes-Benz to Ferrari horse and more. Mercedes-Benz Logo Origin The Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star is commonly known to symbolize the use of the company’s engines on land, sea and air. But the star first appeared on a personal note written in 1872 from company founder, Gottlieb Daimler, to his wife. Mr. Daimler used a three-pointed star to mark the location of his family’s new home in the town of Deutz, Germany. His sons adapted the emblem as the Mercedes-Benz logo from 1910 onwards. Ferrari Logo Origin The Ferrari "Prancing Horse" made its first appearance on the warplane flown by Francesco Baracca, an Italian flying ace who died during World War I. In 1923, when he was still a race car driver, a young Enzo Ferrari met Baracca's parents following an motor race. Both for good luck and out of respect for their son, they suggested Ferrari use their son's prancing horse badge on his race cars. Enzo added a yellow background - it's the official colour of his hometown in Modena, Italy - and the horse's tail was redesigned to point upwards instead of down. BMW Logo Origin Despite the popular myth, the BMW logo does not represent a stylized airplane propeller. The blue and white logo is borrowed from the Bavarian flag, nothing more. The misconception began in the 1920s, when an advertising agency used the BMW Roundel as the spinning propeller of an airplane - before it built cars, BMW was busy piecing together aircraft engines. The ad must have been a good one because, for decades since, almost everyone assumes the design and colours of the BMW logo are rooted in aviation. Chevrolet Logo Origin Did the Chevy "bow tie" emblem originate in a wallpaper pattern? Louis Chevrolet himself said the emblem was inspired by wallpaper in his hotel room during a visit to Paris in 1908. His wife, on the other hand, had a different story to tell. Mr. Chevrolet's wife later said her husband had spotted the design in an advertisement in a Sunday supplement. Apparently the 'borrowed' design had legs, because the Chevrolet logo is one of the world's most iconic. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/01/origins-of-car-logo-from-mercedes-benz.html#sthash.1Hxyv1zD.dpuf

With the recent outbreak of the 'Zika Virus' responsible for birth defects in newborn, the World Health Organization (WHO) has just released a statement that the virus is now spiraling out of control. The Zika virus is "is now spreading explosively" in the Americas, the head of the World Health Organization said Thursday, with another official estimating between 3 million to 4 million infections in the region over a 12-month period. "The level of concern is high, as is the level of uncertainty," Dr. Margaret Chan, WHO's director-general, told her organization's executive board members. "We need to get some answers quickly." The lack of any immunity to Zika and the fact that mosquitoes spreading the virus can be found most "everywhere in the Americas" - from Argentina to the Southern United States - explains the speed of its transmission, said Dr. Sylvain Aldighieri, an official with the WHO and Pan American Health Organization. After first being detected in 1947 in a monkey in Uganda, Zika was most often found along the equator from Africa into Asia - See more here http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/01/zika-virus-is-spreading-exposively-who.html |

Six gunmen suspected to be members of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), have stormed a hotel in the west African city of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, taking hostages and burning vehicles in what the French embassy described as a terrorist attack. The gunmen stormed the five-storey Splendid Hotel in Ouagadougou's business district, burning cars outside and firing in the air to drive back crowds before security forces arrived, prompting an intense exchange of gunfire. Some of the wounded arrived at a local hospital, but there were so far no confirmed reports of deaths. The attack would be the first by Islamist militants in the capital of Burkina Faso. Gunmen stormed a shopping mall in eastern Baghdad killing at least 18 people and took an estimated 75 more hostage, after blowing up a car bomb. After detonating the bomb then opening fire on crowds, the gunmen holed up in the shopping centre in the Baghdad al-Jadida district, amid fears they were wearing suicide belts. However, Iraqi commandos landed on the roof, where they clashed with attackers inside, killing two and arresting another four. ISIS has now claimed responsibility for the attack, which would mark a step up in coordination for an attack in Baghdad, which ISIS has previously only subjected to crude suicide bombings. A police official said the attackers entered the mall and when security forces got too close, they killed three hostages. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/01/isis-claims-responsibility-for-deadly.html#sthash.hjXDNW8R.dpuf

Just like the chambers of secret in JK Rowlings Harry Potter Hogwart's school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, You won't believe there's a vast Chambers of Secret 100ft under London. It was hand-built to protect thousands of people from terrifying bombing raids by Nazi Germany during the Blitz in the Second World War. But the existence of the underground shelter beneath Clapham Common remains a complete secret to the vast majority of Londoners, even those who walk above it every day. The shelter 'village' lies 100ft below ground and is made up of 1,300 tunnels and is big enough to cater up to 8,000 people, and have now become a special exhibition open to the public.
