The youngest daughter of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and former Ambassador of Nigeria to Holland, Dr. Tokunbo Awolo-Dosunmu, says Nigeria will experience unprecedented growth if states are granted automony as was done in the first Republic. Addressing journalist ahead of a one day symposium to commemorate the birthday of the late Chief Awolowo, with the theme. “Awo,then and now: Politics,Economics and Education” would hold on March 3,2016 in Ikenne, Ogun State. She said, “It will be regrettable if the resolutions of the 2014 National Conference are abandoned because the recommendations would help us to move forward. One of the issues we need to get right is our federalism. That is first and foremost. Is this the kind of federalism that was bequeathed to our generation? I am not so sure. “The present situation where the states are subservient to the Federal Government is not healthy. I believe that we will do better if, as done in the First Republic, each region is granted autonomy. I feel that the prospects of receiving allocations from the Federal Government at Abuja make people to go to sleep and not to work hard.” Awolowo-Dosunmu also advised South-West governors to emulate the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, by making education more accessible and affordable. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/regional-autonomy-will-speed-up-nigerias-growth-awolowo-dosunmu.html#sthash.rxXYvYqz.dpuf |
According to social media tracking database Hookit, Cristiano Ronaldo popularly referred to as CR7, has made history on social media by becoming the first athlete to reach 200 million followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The Real Madrid of Spain, superstar play-maker has 109.7m followers on Facebook, 49.6m on Instagram and 40.7m on Twitter after a "meteoritic rise" in popularity. Ronaldo, now boasts more followers than prominent past and present NBA stars Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry's combined 187m. He may have lost to Lionel Messi in the race to a third consecutive Ballon d'Or in January but the star player easily trumps his long-time rival's 120.8m followers on social media, though the Argentine does not have a Twitter account. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/cristiano-ronaldo-makes-history-as-most.html#sthash.2seBW1ap.dpuf

Your take tho, but blimme no investor will come here if things get worse than this, remember what happened to Greece, if we can sort our economy woes from here those he's visiting for help can't either my take... ![]() SoNature: |
I was just surfing the internet jejely on my own when i stumbled of the list of 10 most competitive economies in sub-Saharan Africa of the 2015-2016 edition of the Global Competitiveness Index and what surprised me is that Nigeria doesn't make the list contrary to what Nigerian government is saying that Nigeria's economy is the best and fastest growing in Africa. According to the index, Mauritius tops the list ranking 46th out of 140 in the overall ranking and second on the list is South Africa that ranks 49th in the world. See Photo chart below: I believe it's time that President Buhari sit at home and put his economy team to work, because no investor will come and invest in an economy on the verge of collapse. His frequent worldwide is already taking its tolls on the national purse and the level of decadence in infrastructure is at an all high. Will you support a National Economic Conference as proposed by Prof. Wole Soyinka at this time? - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/nigeria-is-missing-on-top-10-most-competitive.html#sthash.lkJKQn4w.dpuf

This is a story that looks like something out of a horror movie, but it's very real, though it is a long piece but i bet you will not want to miss this for anything...It's the story of the survivors of a plane that crashed in the Andes, who had to eat the bodies of their dead friends in order to survive. One of the survivors wrote this haunting and deeply moving booking detailing their 10 weeks near death experience and journey to find help: Behind us, the fuselage grew smaller and smaller in the distance. Our friends watched from the wreckage of the plane as the two of us began climbing the mountain wall. I turned round occasionally to look at them until they were shadowy pinpricks, tiny black ants moving along a snowy white canvas. No wonder the rescue planes hadn’t seen us. With the white fuselage camouflaged against the snow, we were totally invisible. Finally, I could no longer see our friends, and I felt a rush of anxiety as the umbilical cord that kept us attached to them was severed. There were only 16 of us left now, out of the original 45 who’d been on board when the plane plunged out of the sky two months before. Would we ever see them again? I doubted it. We’d said goodbye with the first rays of dawn as we set out on our life-or-death mission. We wore several jumpers and pairs of trousers. We’d lost so much weight that we could easily wear them all at once. On my back was a makeshift sleeping bag constructed from the insulation fibres in the plane’s tailpiece. I also carried a rugby sock stuffed with our food: strips of frozen human flesh we’d cut, amid much torment and soul-searching, from the bodies of our friends who’d died. My friend Nando and I walked in our rugby boots, using cushions from the plane as snowshoes, and we each carried a length of rope and a metal stick. In truth, we had no idea what we needed. Neither of us had any climbing experience whatsoever. The mountain wall was nearly vertical, and the air was so thin that every few yards we found ourselves gasping for breath. As night swiftly devoured twilight, we could suddenly see nothing ahead. We didn’t know whether we were stepping on to firm ground or about to fall into a ravine. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/we-ate-our-friends-body-to-survive-for.html#sthash.lxlwmQWo.dpuf

Nigeria is a country rich in both human and natural resources, Our soil is fertile and we are so blessed with landscape that boost of the best tourist destination, which if well harness will be a source income for the government and employment for the teeming masses. My goal in writing this piece was to support the #BuyNigeriaToGrowTheNaira as a result of the current economy situation and the fall of the naira, selling at 400 naira to 1 dollar last week. We need to look inward, Obudu instead of Dubai, Think Ikogosi before Miami Beach. There are several tourist destinations in Nigeria but i will be listing top 10 destination: The Yankari Game Reserve: Yankari National Park; a home to wildlife in the state’s South-Central part. It houses a lot of natural warm water springs and it is the one of West Africa’s eco-destinations. Located in Bauchi State. Obudu Mountain Resort: Enjoy the temperate climate on the Oshie Ridge of the famous Sankwala Mountains in Obudu Mountain Resort. breathtaking views and more. Obudu Resort is located in Cross River State. Ikogosi warm spring: A geological wonder according to expert, in the heart of a smal quiet town of Ikogosi-Ekiti lies a warm spring, where cold and warm spring meets. The meeting point of the warm and cold springs is a unique attraction to tourists. In order to give tourists and visitors a long-lasting experience, a well-landscaped 116-hectare resort is located around the warm spring at Ikogosi-Ekiti. Olumo Rock: Olumo rock, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nigeria, West Africa, sits in the ancient city center of Abeokuta – a name which means “Under the rock”. Abeokuta was originally inhabited by the egba people who found refuge at the Olumo rock during inter-tribal wars in the 19th century. Olumo rock is located in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Oguta Lake: Oguta Lake is the largest natural lake in Imo State, South East Nigeria; within the equatorial rainforest region of Niger Delta. Oguta Lake's catchment area comprises the drainage area of the Njaba River and a part of the River Niger floodplain in the region south of Onitsha. Oh My God! This is so disheartening, A Disturbing video footage has been released by the ISIS of an 11-year-old child jihadi, identified as Abu Imara al Omri kissing his father's outstretch hand before going on to blow himself up in a suicide attack near Aleppo, Syria. Abu Imara, is seen saying his final goodbyes before donning a weapon and being groomed for his mission by another Islamice State militant. He is shown in the video inspecting the truck and being taught how to ignite and drive the truck, a weapon increasingly being used in attacks against forces loyal to president Bashar al-Assad. Islamic State propaganda continues to boast about young 'cubs of the caliphate' being sacrificed as part of a new generation of jihadists, with the extremist group encouraging mothers to send their sons into death. "As for you, O mother of lion cubs. ... And what will make you know what the mother of lion cubs is? She is the teacher of generations and the producer of men," an article in Dabiq read. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/suicide-11-year-old-isis-jihadi-cub.html#sthash.DrSowsM5.dpuf

This satirical piece, was written by Dr. Obinna Aligwekwe, a Medical doctor, social critic and commentator. He painted the true picture of the Nigerian state in this well written medically inclined satire. Once upon a time, in a far away land, there was this Doctor. His specialty was infectious diseases. He specialised in treating malaria, pneumonias, and any disease that could be called infectious in nature. Then, on this bright sunny day, Nkechi, a sickle cell patient, down with fever was brought to the hospital. Laboratory tests were run, and she was confirmed to have malaria. There were numerous malaria parasites in her blood. Nkechi had been to another hospital previously, but the labs were not functioning properly, so the diagnosis was missed. She only spent a few hours there as nothing much could be done. Our Doctor, having now diagnosed her condition accurately, spent the first two hours cursing the hospital that missed the diagnosis. After all the admonition to the patient never to use that hospital again, treatment commenced. Nkechi was commenced with the strongest dose of the strongest medication, even though her sickle cell condition required that medications to be given, be cross-checked carefully for allergies and side effects. Tests were required to monitor the malaria parasites in her blood, at least to confirm that they were reducing in number. The parasites were indeed reducing, but Nkechi was not getting better. Her father raised up this concern with the Doctor, but was reassured that all that was needed, is to get rid of the malaria. Nurse Bisi raised concern about Nkechi's allergy status, and the fact that being sickle cell, she needed other forms of treatment. Our Doctor reminded the nurse, that she was just an auxillary nurse, and did not have the training to teach him his job. Nurse Jamilla, another nurse called nurse Bisi into the privacy of a room, and further abused Bisi for having the impetus to ever challenge the Doctor over medical matters. Nkechi's condition took a turn for the worse. She was no longer making urine, was in severe pain, and was not breathing properly. Nurse Bisi, afraid of her earlier encounter, simply informed our Doctor, performing her duty as a nurse. Doctor asked Nurse Bisi to repeat the test for malaria parasites, and increase her dose of anti malaria drugs. Nurse Bisi remembered Nkechi had been coughing the night before, but could not bring herself to tell the Doctor. The previous encounter had mortified her. The test results were out. The malaria parasites had almost cleared, but Nkechi was almost comatose. Doctor was informed. Doctor declared that he was actually winning, that it was the remaining parasites that needed to be cleared before Nkechi would start taking a turn for the better. When Nurse Bisi finally found the courage, she told him about Nkechi's cough. His response; "its the malaria". He ordered that the medicines continued until the final test. Next day, the final test was being done. The results came out two hours later. There were no malaria parasites. The Doctor was informed. He was all smiles, waving the lab report in the air. He called both Nurses Bisi and Jamilla. He was going to examine Nkechi, as he was so sure she would be better. When they arrived at her bedside, Nkechi was no longer breathing, her eyes wide open, and her body quite stiff. The Doctor was furious. He cursed the previous hospital where Nkechi had been, blaming them for not starting the treatment on time. He cursed Nkechi's parents, for not going for pre-natal counselling. "How can two AS couples be marrying themselves in this age?", he fumed. He abused Nkechi for allowing mosquitoes to bite her. An autopsy was done. Nkechi's malaria was successfully treated, but she died of Hospital Acquired Pneumonia, severe anaemia and dehydration. Doctor is currently meeting with his lawyers, to defend himself in a case of criminal negligence of the economy...,sorry, patient. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/satire-misplaced-ego-picture-of.html#sthash.PjoAeM9e.dpuf

Pope Francis, who was on a six-day visit to Mexico, has ended his trip to the country with the pontiff saying Mass at the border and laying flowers at a memorial for the migrants who have died trying to cross it, that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is not a Christian. Pope Francis questioned Trump's faith due to his election promises to deport illegal immigrants from the US and build a wall at its border with Mexico. “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” Pope Francis said, when asked about Mr Trump by a reporter on board the papal jet as it returned to Rome. The businessman supports a proposal to deport the more than 11 million illegal immigrants estimated to be living in the US and to build a “great wall” along the country’s southern border to keep migrants out. Launching his presidential campaign last year, Mr Trump claimed Mexico sends “rapists”, criminals and drug-traffickers to the US. The pontiff’s comments drew an angry response from the billionaire, as he spoke at a rally on the Kiawah Island golf resort in South Carolina, two days before the state votes in the third US presidential nominating contest. Mr Trump said the “primary goal” of Islamic State militants was “to get the Vatican” and “that would be their ultimate trophy”. “If and when the Vatican is attacked, the pope would only wish and have prayed that Donald Trump would have been elected president,” Mr Trump told a packed ballroom in a golf club house. Christian vote The businessman, a Presbyterian, leads the polls in South Carolina by a 16-point margin on average. He has been trying to win over evangelical Christian voters to secure victory in the southern states. Mr Trump escalated his criticism of the pontiff at his rally, using the kind of attacks that have characterised his bombastic campaign. Although he told the rally that “I like the Pope”, he scolded Francis for his remarks, saying that it was “really not a nice thing to say. “For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful. I am proud to be a Christian,” he said. “No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man’s religion or faith.” He also described Pope Francis as a “very political person”. He accused the Mexican government of using Pope Francis “as a pawn” against him, adding that Francis “didn’t see the crime and the drug trafficking” on his visit or the “horrendous” economic impact of illegal immigration into the US. The latest joint poll from the New York Times and CBS News showed Mr Trump maintaining a commanding 17-point lead over his closest challenger, Texas senator Ted Cruz, in a national survey of Republican voters. Mr Trump has 35 per cent support against Mr Cruz on 18 per cent, the poll shows. Florida senator Marco Rubio is in third place with 12 per cent, followed by Ohio governor John Kasich on 11 per cent. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/donald-trump-is-not-christian-pope.html#sthash.Ac4K9pSi.dpuf

OMG! You will not believe the horrifying ordeal of this 83-year-old Kenyan man, Joseph N, during the crisis that greeted the december 27, 2007 Presidential election that was won by incumbent President Mwai Kibaki against Ralia Odinga. The chaos lasted two months, and left at least 1,130 people dead and displaced up to 600,000 people in the country. The elderly man was ordered to join in when a group of young men gang-raped his daughters. When he refused, they stripped him of his clothes and took turns raping him as well. The man, only identified as Joseph N., spoke of how a group of 50 youths attacked his home and raped him and his two daughters, both of whom later died as a result of the assaults. 'They said, "If you don't want to do what we are telling you, you will be our wife". Six boys took me aside and told me to UnCloth. I refused. 'They did a very bad thing to me. They made me their wife; they made me a homosexual.' Joseph N. reveals one of his daughters contracted HIV as a result of the rape, and died in June 2014. His second daughter never recovered from the injuries she sustained in the attack, which included being shot with a poisoned arrow, and she died in May last year. Joseph N now cares for some of his grandchildren, but has been suffering from chronic health issues since the January 2008 attack. Several victims describe how the perpetrators used foreign objects during the rapes, inserting everything from guns to bottles in their vaginas. One survivor from Mombasa told of how she was raped using a gun, while another was so badly abused with sticks that her uterus had to be removed. Another woman, identified only as Mwanaidi H. was raped by officers of the General Service Unit (GSU), the para-military wing of the Kenyan Police Force, when she was seven months pregnant. She was subjected to such brutal rape and assault that her baby died inside her. Nyasiongo F., aged 24, was gang raped with her then 12-year-old sister, who was subjected to such a violent sexual assault she suffered a brain injury. 'The man was so violent with my sister because she was screaming. He hit her on the head with his fists and she fainted,' she told HRW. 'She was in a coma for six months. She is not okay mentally. She does not know how to use a toilet. She faints often. 'Sometimes she gets violent and breaks things in the house. I became pregnant following the rape and I live with her and my son. We have no relative to help us. It is very hard on me.' - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/kenyan-father-who-refused-to-join-his.html#sthash.sQEaRAnW.dpuf

Wow! Check out this futuristic sleek, affordable British-built hydrogen-powered electric city car, that will start running from today in the United Kingdom. The electric car will reduce emissions, with just water coming from its exhaust, and it even has DeLorean-style gull wing doors. Called Rasa, the green vehicle runs on electricity generated by hydrogen fuel cells and gives the equivalent of '250 miles to the gallon', according to its backers. Despite hydrogen being a highly-flammable gas, Rasa's makers Riversimple insist the car is safer than conventional petrol models because the gas is contained in a pressurised tank and dissipates upwards in the event of a crash. This tank, fitted in the boot, has been designed to be placed away from the engine and is strengthened to withstand crashes. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/futuristic-car-that-runs-on-thin-air.html#sthash.I18WtBng.dpuf

This is an open letter/note written by Dr. Obinna Aligwekwe, a social commentator and medical doctor, who resides in the United Kingdom to Innoson vehicles and other Nigerian brands as the the #BuyMadeInNigeria goes viral.... Note to Innoson Vehicles, and Other Nigerian Brands It is very obvious that there is a wave of support going on for indigenous brands. To be honest, this forced patriotism came more out of compulsion necessitated by the downturn in prices of Oil, our mainstay, but hey, it is here anyway. Which ever way, people have been forced to look inwards. Please, do not make the mistakes Nigeria has been making. Demonstrate to us that you are capable of reasoning beyond the now. Prove to us that beyond the temporary flow of the naira and kobo, you are capable of leaving a legacy that will last generations. Because, lets not pretend, the average human being, would rather drive a Mercedes Benz or BMW, sport a Rolex wrist watch, don wears purchased from Harrods and spray designer perfumes. The average human is less bothered about how Benz, BMW, Givenchy, Marks and Spencer and all the likes started off as small as you. What catches their eyes is the EXCELLENCE in the finished product. To even stand a chance of becoming a lasting brand, that excellence should be your watchword.........ALWAYS. Show us that #BuyMadeInNigeria is not mere blackmail occasioned by a loss in Oil fortunes, but a desire to rise and shine. Show us that the temporary patronage and profits is not about Naira and kobo, but a priviledge to lay a lasting legacy. Show us that the present compulsion to buy your products will not always be as a result of lack of choice, but will eventually go down as a veritable alternative. Ford did it in America, Karl Benz did it in Germany, Toyota did it in Japan. Some of these outfits had more humble beginnings than you do now, yet today, some lives are incomplete without possession of these products. Patronage should be a balance between patriotism and value for money. If one gives way, the business dies. You have the priviledge of having patronage in your hands, it will not be like that forever if you don't up your game. YOUR TIME STARTS NOW!! - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/madeinnigeria-open-letter-to-innoson.html#sthash.R8EyxsLZ.dpuf

When will the track come out abeg..LMAO! President Muhammadu Buhari has said Nigeria was starting all over again to rebuild the economy. He said that Nigeria had relied so much on oil, stressing that with the fall of oil prices, it had become imperative to diversify the economy. The president spoke Tuesday when he received a team of British Members of Parliament led by Hon. Chi Onwurah at State House, Abuja. “We are going to rebuild Nigeria, and there are vast opportunities for Britain and us. We share very close ties, and our expectation from you is high”, he said. President Buhari lamented that Nigeria has found herself in a phase of development, “which is not a very welcome one. We are disorganized because we relied on mono-economic product for too long, and now that oil price is down, we have to go back to agriculture and solid minerals. Tin, columbite, cocoa, groundnut, and others, used to be the basis of our economy, but then, oil came, and everybody began to look for cheap money. Now, we need to start all over again.” Also speaking, Hon. Onwurah, Nigerian-born MP for Newcastle, said the team was in the country “to promote positive engagement between Nigeria and the UK, since we are stronger when we build on ties of the past.” She said the mission of her team was to amass support for the economic progress of Nigeria, as well as promotion of trade and diversification of the economy. Also on the delegation made up of three MPs was the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Paul Arkwright. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/nigeria-economy-we-re-starting-from.html#sthash.e5rke1jg.dpuf |

A former Senate President, David Mark, on Monday petitioned the Inspector – General of Police, Solomon Arase, alleging that some gladiators in the forthcoming rerun election in the Benue South Senatorial District, were planning to assassinate him. Mark, who is contesting the February 20 poll on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, told the IGP that he uncovered the plot through intelligence gathering. He specifically alleged that three top members of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (names withheld to avoid litigation), hired the services of cultists to unleash terror in Benue South and in the process target him (Mark) for elimination. The former senate president, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Paul Mumeh, explained that “credible sources listed the cultists hired for the assassination to include the notorious supreme Vikings Squad from Jos, Plateau State and the dreaded in Makurdi Benue State.” The statement noted that Mark’s petition to the IGP signed by his counsel Mr. Ken Ikonne, alleged that one (Okpokwu Ogenyi) is the arrow head of the plot. In the petition, Ikonne told the IGP that “it is obvious that (Ogenyi) knows more about the assassination plot than he has revealed.” The petition, according to the statement reads, “Our client has therefore instructed us to petition you (IGP) to as a matter of urgency apprehend and interrogate (Ogenyi) to throw more light on the details of this grave assassination plot before he and his associates carry out the dastardly plot. “Only yesterday (Sunday), Police said to be attached to (the State Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu,) fired several gun shots into the family house of Senator Mark in Otukpo. “No reason was given for the unprovoked attack and no arrest has been made. A couple of weeks ago, (Benue State chairman of the APC Mr. Abbah Yaro) was quoted as saying if Senator Mark wants, let him win the election in seven out of the nine local government areas but no returning officer born of a woman will dare declare him.” The statement added that the PDP Chairman in the state, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, had petitioned the Benue command of the Nigeria Police over the unhealthy political activities of APC in the state ahead of the election and asked the authorities to prevail on members of the party to allow peace to reign. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/my-life-is-under-threat-david-mark.html#sthash.NDBGTQXm.dpuf

Quote of the Day: “If a Plantain boy became a super star (Timaya) and Bread girl became an international celebrity model (Olajumoke) overnight…Friends just try to challenge yourself and those around to grow and overcome challenges. Keep the hustle real one day, you will get there” – DukeTunde. About a week or so ago a relatively unknown Olajumoke Orisaguna walked into the photo-shoot of international act Tinie Tempah by renown Photographer TY Bello. She became a star and social media went crazy. Fast forward to this week, she has been featured on many international magazines and most recently on CNN. Her success came with many offers and even a luxury home courtesy of Sujimoto Construction. The most significant thing about her rise from zero to a celebrity overnight is “Being at the right place at the right time,” not that she knew people who count. Many still marvel or let me say are jealous of Olajumoke’s new found stardom, because they felt she stumbled of success easily, my dear if you belong to this category of people you’re dead wrong. She didn’t rest on her oars, feeling helpless, dressing down or waiting for help to come. She does what can put the next meal on the table before “her photobomb” breakthrough. Not everyone will have success tossed at him/her the Olajumoke way though, but the key in achieving success and going further in life is “IDENTIFYING THE PEOPLE WHO COUNT” and “TO BE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF PEOPLE WHO COUNT.” Don’t just sit there and believe miracle will happen. Showcase your talent and watch people who matter key into your ideals and ultimate rise to success. I once made a bad mistake - Well, i have probably made countless more, but this one is relevant and sticks in my mind. I worked on a surveillance maintenance project for a company and on one occasion during the lunch break, i ran into the big boss himself having coffee with an assistance in my unit who didn't show up for work for two days. i spoke angrily, hoping the chairman will scold him, but i was thrown out! Imagine LOL. I only got to know he's a relative of Oga after the incident...what i am driving at here is, don't look down on people as you never can tell who is holding the ACE or DANGOTE card that will give you access to the next level of success. Finally, do things properly – go through the appropriate channels and don’t hide in wait for a miracle that may never come. SINGING: In Patoranking’s voice “ Nobody wey no fit to make am o.” Do have a blissful week out there…………….. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/monday-motivational-kit-yours-may-not.html#sthash.nDnRh0DI.dpuf

Science is truly shaping the world, If the new robots developed by Scientist who claimed they were inspired by the way cockroaches 'the ultimate survivors, are capable of squeezing into any tight space uninvited. Then it's good news for those trapped in collapsed build or even earthquake victims. The palm-sized robot has a similarly tough but flexible exoskeleton to the much-maligned insect, is ideally suited to scurrying rapidly through tightly-packed debris. Its soft legs and articulated shell allow it to compress to more than half its size, so it could squeeze through the narrowest of cracks. TECHNOLOGY: You can now print a working 3D gun. See HERE This would allow rescue workers to find and reach survivors stuck in confirmed spaces beneath collapsed buildings. Two researchers at the University of California, Berkeley's Department of Integrative Biology studied cockroaches as they developed the robot. They examined in particular how their rigid but jointed exoskeletons allows the insects to invade almost any space. 'Our discoveries from cockroaches inspired the design of a soft, legged hexapod robot named "compressible robot with articulated mechanisms" (CRAM) that we built using laser-cutting, laminating, and the folding of exoskeletal-like plates,' said Kaushik Jayaram and Robert Full, from the University of California's Department of Integrative Biology who conducted the study. To measure the limits of the insects' abilities, the two reserachersconstructed an obstacle course for American cockroaches. They found they are capable of slipping through a space smaller than a quarter of their standing body height in less than one second. They do this by compressing their exoskeleton. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/scientist-builds-robo-roach-to-help.html#sthash.BOVtrXa7.dpuf

Jose Maria Garcia, a 19-year old born with both ovaries and testicles and has both male and female s*x organs has given birth this morning at the Amisola Maternity Hospital, reports the Manila Times. Both babies were also born hermaphrodites, displaying physical characteristics and private parts of both genders, a “miraculous event” according to Dr. Xi Huan Chow, Medical director at Amisola Maternity Hospital. “We are privileged to experience such an unusual birth” he told reporters, visibly happy with the turn of events. “Hundreds of people have come to witness these miracles of nature. Both babies are extremely healthy and vibrant with life,” he explained with enthusiasm. Jose Maria Garcia, the mother and father of the two children, admits the birth was not expected at all. “I have never had any s*xual experience with someone outside of myself. I was unaware that I could impregnate myself, but I would never go back even with what I know now. The grim images of amputated limbs, shattered bones and skin ravaged by burns of victims of the two female suicide bombers who blew themselves at the internally displaced people (IDP) camp in Dikwa in Borno State that killed 51 on Tuesday morning will only remind you of this lines from legendary Afro beat king " them leave sorrow, tears and blood, there regular trademark." Such cases have become a familiar sight in the hospitals of Maiduguri, northeast Nigeria, since Boko Haram Islamists began their deadly insurgency nearly seven years ago. Some 17,000, if not more, are estimated to have been killed since then. At least as many have been injured. So if this new report according to Huffington Post is anything to go by Sean 'Diddy' Combs the big man at Bad Boy records paid for the assassination of 2Pac, and his manager, Marion Hugh 'Suge' Knight, and that Suge avenged Pac by killing Christopher 'Notorious B.I.G' Wallace. See the article as published by Huffington Post below: The Los Angeles Police Department has solved the murders of rappers Christopher "Biggie Smalls" Wallace and Tupac Shakur, according to a documentary featuring retired LAPD detective Greg Kading, who once led a special task force that investigated those two-decade-old shootings. Based on his three years working the cases, Kading claims that Sean "Diddy" Combs hired Crips gang member Duane Keith "Keffe D" Davis to kill Shakur and his manager, Marion Hugh "Suge" Knight, for $1 million. He alleges that on the night of Sept. 7, 1996, Keffe D's nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, pulled the trigger. Only Shakur was killed. Kading alleges that in retaliation, Knight hired Bloods gang member Wardell "Poochie" Fouse to kill Biggie Smalls for $13,000. Biggie Smalls was shot to death on March 9, 1997, just six months after Shakur died. Over the course of investigating, Kading says that he essentially trapped Keffe D into a situation where he had to give a verifiable confession about the events that led to Shakur's murder or else face severe charges for another crime. "If his intention was to just get away with it, so to speak," Kading told HuffPost, "it would have been very easy for him to not include all the details that he did." These extra details, according to the documentary, include the allegation that Combs hired Keffe D for the crime. The documentary, titled "Murder Rap," originally premiered in 2015. Based on Kading's 2011 book of the same name, it's available on iTunes now and will debut on Netflix in the spring. The LAPD assigned Kading to reinvestigate the rappers' murders in 2006, soon after Biggie Smalls' mother, Voletta Wallace, sued the department in federal court. Wallace's wrongful death lawsuit centered on a popular conspiracy theory that the police covered up an officer's involvement in her son's murder. The civil suit estimated losses at $500 million based on Biggie Smalls' earning potential. It was Kading's task to disprove the theory posited in the suit, along with many others swirling around. Kading claims that once his team found enough evidence to exonerate the LAPD, the re-investigation of the murders was essentially dropped. In 2009, the department took Kading off the task force due to an internal affairs investigation on a separate matter. Though he was eventually cleared in the internal matter, the image of a "rogue cop" stuck. In truth, over the course of his 25-year law enforcement career, Kading received the LAPD's Medal of Valor and its Police Star for heroic action. He also achieved the highest ranking for an investigator that the LAPD gives. In 2010, he retired from the department. The next year he published his book about the rappers' case. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/new-documentary-claims-diddy-was-behind.html#sthash.4ABdgApr.dpuf

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra on Thursday threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable if the Federal Government failed to conduct a referendum in the South-East. MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups, including the Indigenous People of Biafra, are demanding a referendum in the region to enable the people decide, through voting, whether they wish to secede, or remain in Nigeria. The Biafra activists claim that majority of people in the region would vote in favour of a separation from Nigeria. In a statement, which was made available to our correspondent in Enugu, MASSOB said it had concluded plans, with other pro-Biafra groups, to disrupt governance in the country, if the Federal Government would not conduct the referendum. The National Director of Information, MASSOB, Samuel Edeson, who signed the statement, said the agitators would fight the Federal Government with ‘everything’ at their disposal. He said the group intended to instigate civil disobedience, and strikes, particularly in the South-East, and Lagos. Edeson said, “MASSOB and other pro-Biafra agitators will make Nigeria ungovernable if the Nigerian government failed to conduct referendum in Eastern Nigeria. “We shall use everything at our disposal to fight the Nigerian government, especially through civil disobedience. “We are going to call for ‘sit at home’ in all Biafran land and Lagos.” The MASSOB spokesman further spoke of plans by the group to drag former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the International Criminal Court for ‘atrocities’ he allegedly committed against ‘Biafrans’ since 1970, as well as other ‘crimes’. - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/biafra-we-will-make-nigeria.html#sthash.hk8L6z0K.dpuf

This is good one coming from the Nigerian Police, as the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has revealed that there are plans to introduce the use of stun guns for officers, who are on assignment in within the city. 'Stun gun, is a incapacitating weapon that momentarily disables either a beast or a person with an electric shock' The IGP, who made the revelation at the commissioners’ of police conference held yesterday in Abuja, said with the use of stun guns, cases of accidental discharge and deaths would be reduced. He said persons, who resist arrest and behave violently can be shot at without grievious bodily harm. The IGP explained that in order to improve the conduct of police officers in this new year, monitoring teams have been put in place to watch over and report errant officers for the required punishment to be meted. The conference, the IGP noted was meant to help the police evaluate the national patterns of crime with a view to fashioning pathways that will guide policy activities in 2016 by drawing on lessons from the previous year that can enhance the operational capabilities in the 2016 policing year. Issues that dominated discussions at the meeting included the rate of kidnappings nationwide, deployment of personnel in areas liberated from insurgents the northeast, cattle rustling, armed robbery and other highly organised crimes. The IGP, however, reiterated police commitment towards adapting to the changing situations across the country. “As strategic police managers, the task of assuring the safety of citizens of this great nation is not only sacred, it is one that we must consistently dedicate ourselves to in the passionate and optimal manner. “In the increasingly complex global space, where policing is now driven by citizens’ consent, intelligence and technology, we can no longer afford to stay dormant.’’ - See more at: http://www.duketundesblog.com/2016/02/nigerian-police-set-to-introduce-stun.html#sthash.3J8UajcD.dpuf
