Every human being was born with a blank slate; nobody came into the world as an encyclopedia, though everyone was born with a seed of greatness planted deep inside him/her, but if you don’t get it right from start “that golden blank slate will become a worthless piece of junk.”

Galley Beggar Press invites entries to its inaugural Short Story Prize. The prize’s declared aim is ‘to sponsor nothing more and nothing less than exceptionally good stories’.

Submissions are open to published and unpublished writers around the world. The winning author will be invited to choose from a cash prize of £500 (US$784) or a year of editorial support from the directors of the Press. All long- and short-listed stories will be published electronically.
