I'm very curious and suspicious as to how you knew UCAP would pay 50k. There was no precedent from div yield and payout ratio and there is absolutely no other metric you could have used to calculate it, except......

People tend to spend disposable income on pampering themselves with foreign exotic brands like KFC. However in an economy where disposable income has been on the decline, people will still want to have a good time, but also conserve scarce disposable income. The number one causality in situations like this is always overpriced foreign brands with cheaper substitutes that have equal or better quality.
Its simple economics.

Obasanjo's regime started the National integrated power project. It involved the construction of power plants in many locations across the country. One thing the project did not envisage was the security of the pipelines that would convey gas to these power stations. No these power stations or the gas pipelines supplying them were not built aeons ago, they were built very recently. Security remains a very vital issue in ensuring stable power in Nigeria.

This is wrong. We're only producing a little more than 3000MW because our generating companies are producing almost nothing. They all have breached pipelines. The transmission companies can convey 6000MW, the distribution companies are dishing out metres at an excellent rate, its just the Gencos that are messing up.
Besides in case you haven't noticed, power has been privatised in Nigeria. The only portion the FG controls is the Transmission.

Buhari's survival or not is irrelevant. Even if anything happens to Buhari, Fayose must account for that N1.2 billion poultry money he used to build houses in Ibadan for his mother, and the ONSA money for soldiers in the North east that he used to pay Ozekhome and buy houses for his sister in Abuja. He must account for everything.

I don't think so. I think Buhari is a very old man with old ways that won't change. He's very weary of who he trusts and very uncompromising. A lot of the people Osinbajo has been hobnobbing with recently are people who have serious corruption and national security issues around their necks. But the difference is that Osinbajo recognises the need to compromise when it is necessary, something Buhari can never learn. That's the reason the likes of Wike and Fayose and pretty much all of the governors of the Southern states will never get any kind of visit from Buhari. Except the ones he trusts, like Amosun and Oshiomole. Its no coincidence that those are the only southern states he's visited during his tenure.

We really need to put ucap's result into proper perspective. From a payout ratio of more than 80% last year to just over 40% this year. Excellent for the company but not so good for the shareholders. A lot of the others will follow the same pattern, especially the struggling banks. They will retain alot of their earnings. Instead of looking out for excellent dividend for FY 2016, lookout instead for improved q1 results and the rallies that will follow. Don't be too quick to sell when you see results with abysmal dividend. Wait and see the q1.
