Achebe was simply an institution.

dayokanu: The biggest loudmouth in Nigerian history was the fictional writer who just died today Ashebe
You are simply a pathetic wastepipe. Achebe stood among the giants and was recognized. Unlike majority of pajamas cowards who lost sense of physical balance on the sight of a drunken soldier from northern region of Nigeria, Achebe forged a glorious path of determination and persevered.

TheBookWorm: I will always have respect for Professor Achebe, not simply because of his novel, Things Fall Apart, but for his criticism of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness.

I had to read that humiliating book, "Heart of Darkness," in my freshman year of college and I must say that I felt degraded as someone being of African descent. To make matters worse, I was the only black person in the class!

That is why I was happy to read Chinua Achebe's An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrad's "Heart of Darkness." It restored the dignity of Africans and people of African descent that Joseph Conrad took away in his novel.
Achebe’s critical essay on the Heart of Darkness constitutes the reasons why the Nobel Prize committee overlooked him for the prize.

It is funny Yoruba peeps always go for the skirts. Even the kidnappers among them are hell bent to catch one.

ilugunboy: The Biafran Chief propagandist is dead..who will wear his shoes? Chukwumerije?
At least, a punk such as you noticed Achebe was Biafran Chief Propagandist. I guess you know what Dr. Ahmed Ali had for your folks in Nigeria.

masonkz: Funny, you do realize that many gays also have sex with girls, meaning many are actually bisexual. Besides, you should be scared of the over-population that the country is surging into, despite the gay community. No straight person can just wake up one morning and decide..."Oh! I wanna be with a guy", just cos gay union exists. Unless the person was never really straight.

PS: One of your kids may be gay...you just may NEVER realise that, especially with your mindset..., just like my parents would swear I'm the straightest being ever...and, oh yea, they can still give you grandkids when you want. It's very easy.
You are seriously delusional, goofy and ignorant. I guess you know the acts of stupidity involved in the silly lives of homosexuals. What a despicable behavior to swing back and forth. If homosexuals do regard such antic as lifestyle, they are irredeemable dupes. Let me give you two names to study, they are Johanna Siguroardottir and Billie Jean King.

You must be wasting your time to remotely insinuate any my kids will end up homosexuals.

Our Yansh: Y A W N S... Wetin concern Bigot with Nobel prize??
The only bigot I see is Nobel Prize and its committee. After Achebe trashed the Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad and buried it with books such as Things Fall Apart, do you think the Europeans will give the nonsensical Nobel Prize to an African who supremely destroyed their seemingly superiority complex with a pen? The Nobel Prize committee has long realized that Achebe would have been the first person on earth to reject the nonsensical Nobel Prize if it is given to him. I shall not be surprise if the Nobel Prize committee decides to award the crap to Achebe posthumously
I think UNN should be named after Chinua Achebe; IMSU should be named after Pita Nwana; and University of Ibadan should be named after General Diya when he passes away.
Bros, any state university in Yoruba land could be named after General Diya not Unibadan which is federally owned. You should know that General Diya is an inherent symbol of the Yoruba.
The simple truth is that Homosexuality is a victimless crime.

Wether legal or illegal, many people will eventually end up being Homosexuals. Personally, I have always wondered what it was that would make a man attracted to another man. But again, just because I cant comprehend it does not mean that it is evil. I remember the first time I saw two men kissing inside Charles de Gaulle Airport, I was so stunned I think I stood there starring for a bit. Then as I continued living there, I noticed that this wasnt really the worst thing in the world. These people lived their lives and it didnt affect any other person around them. Now should we go deeper into the entirety of legalizing Homosexual marriages, I do have a portion that I am yet to come to terms with (& I would leave that out for now so as not to derail this thread).

In secondary school, there was this boy in my class that was very very efeminate. He walked like a girl, shook his a`ss like a girl, would stand like a girl (with a pose), he even looked girly. All through secondary school, we all teased and made fun of this kid. Looking back now, I wondered how that kid managed to keep coming to school for 6 years. It must not have been easy for him. I recently looked him up on facebook and showed his picture to my wife (even before tellingher about him) and her first comment was "why does he look like a girl".

I dont live my life by the bible. Not even the so called christians do. If they did, mensurating women wouldnt be isolated for 7 days because the bible callls them unclean. This is life as we see it. Its human beings we are talking about here not plants. A guy was almost killed in Benin or so for being a heamaphrodite.

Imagine that..
You once claimed to have been schooled in one of the most articulated curriculum in universe yet you come across as someone who could not differentiate a bowl of spaghetti from rice. Why would homosexuals embark on radical campaign on behalf of homosexuality? Have you ever seen a group of heterosexuals embark on radial and pitiable campaign on behalf of heterosexuality? My grandfather once told me that a person who says the truth does not need to have good memory.

The allusion of your mate in secondary school is purely subjective and a resultant of unwise mindset. Why would you condemn a weakling to female gender? Yet you want us to believe you are morally blind.

masonkz: And what exactly are you afraid of, that you would one day become gay?? How would the human race be extinct when most people aren't gay in the first place? Except you're saying all straight people are susceptible to turning gay.
I am not afraid of anything because I am an accomplished man who has reproduced my kinds on earth and my children will in turn continue the reproductive circle. Good to know you realized homosexuality is freaking life style which has no place in animal kingdom.

Why should the moronic gays and lesbians expect other human beings to perform one of the most important functions of their miserable lives on earth, thus, procreate?

I suggest you think beyond the ridge of your nose. If you assemble four gays in an Island and come back eighty years later, I bet you will find the Island empty without life. If this scenario does not mean extinction to you, I guess you are a jerk.

In any human setting where there are only adults without children is a sign of extinction, olodo.
If it was in another country; the level of attrocity commited by these old and wasted beings call Nwabueze and Williems did to this nation, they ought to end up there lves in prison or be stone to death.
The flipup in our constitution was created by them. Gani was shouting and pointing out these error but they wont listed due to emmediate benefit and reward for dancing to the tone of then govt. You will subject to pain and confess all evil did to this nation before you finally pack your load and join your team in hell fire.
You are just a bloody joker who has succumbed under the weight of tribalism. Who was Gani Fawehemmi in 1978? At best, Gani was a mere Daily Times legal columnist who has no identifiable private office in Lagos. You should remember that Nigeria was merely eight years removed from a bitter civil war.

It is unfortunate someone thought that Ken Saro-Wiwa was not a criminal. How does a criminal look for posterity sake? I read with amazement as Ken Saro-Wiwa has been labeled as real estate mogul. I know the history of Abandon Property in Port Harcourt and Ken Saro-Wiwa. Which Ogoni land did Ken Saro-Wiwa managed to rise to the status of real estate guru?

I can easily forgive anybody accused of embezzlement however I am not that forgiving when it comes to murder. Ken Saro-Wiwa was murderer and a person who bit off the finger that fed him.

Homosexuality is another form of human extinction. It is the most radical form of population control embraced by the Europeans and Americans. I must say that it is despicable act before humans and God.

Who are the ''us'' Mumu? Do you want people who don't eat of the Billion Naira food to fight for the 40-man laptop crew course. Your master hardly comes out into the open for public functions again and here you are (a nobody) boasting of strength. Abeg sit down work your Garri and plan what to do from 2015.
^^^Duru nwanne, you do realize what would happen if you unilaterally declare 'Republic of Igboland'? There are some that are just secretly hoping this would happen you know.
UN is a colonialist led Organization and colonial trappings will be left over nation states formed as a result of UN sponsored referendum. I meant that at the referendum conference organized by Nigerians, Ndigbo must adhere to issues that will lead to the formation of the Republic of Igbo land period.

I do not give a hoot about what other people in Nigeria will think about our move because Ndigbo are not in the referendum because of what the secrets others harbor.

It is unfortunate that people leaned on what transpired in 1966. Today’s Nigeria is not Nigeria of yesteryears.
Politics › Re: Should We Have A Referendum In Nigeria? by Duru1(m): 2:21pm On Mar 21, 2013
In the contest of Nigeria, referendum is a silly lazy man’s apology and shameless political copout. Nigerians agitating for referendum are silly denial artists. I am for the declaration of Republic of Igbo land. I do not want to hear about creation of 250 nations out of Nigeria because I do not give a ratazz if Nigeria is divided into 300 nations.

We all know our boundaries between nation states. In addition, we all know the degree of cultural affinity with each other in case the formation of a larger federation is needed.

If one had to go by the commentaries from the bigoted pajamas cowards from southwestern region of Nigeria on this board, it is safe to conclude that Abdullahi Maiagogo Gayawa, Magawata Goje, Hamisu Usman and Emmanuel Bassey were Igbo.

These moronic wastepipes from certain ethnicity in Nigeria simply can not change the spots on their skins. Since 1966 to date, they have always bent on labeling the victims of northern Nigeria’s sectarian conflicts as Igbo. These jerks have no balls and dignity.

Air bags have been known to kill very old people and children in USA. I guess it is human blunder to have a six year old baby on the front seat of a vehicle.
