NSEstudent: Cool. Question now is, is there a sim slot? If yes, can can easily access it? Is there a specific model with both Sims or all the new ones with esim have it?
Lastly, how you wan take get Sim wey you go put there? You go register Sim as per normal and put there? External sim= Physical sim, and that's what's active right now on the device. The Esim is not active. I was there when they inserted the physical sim into it. It requires unscrewing of the device. |

I just realized mine has both physical and esim. You can also check yours in the settings. The physical sim is the active one at the moment, but it can be switched in the settings.

Hullabaloon: I did a speed test with normal Airtel data and I got this. Does it mean the speed is good in my area? If you are getting 62mbps even without the ODU outside, by the time they hang the ODU outside in a strategic position, you will be getting faster speed. Airtel is so terrible in my area that i thought the ODU would fail to improve the situation. But once the ODU was placed outside, i started seeing speed that i thought was impossible. |

Mykcool: Please where’s their office in Abuja? The one close to me is calling 70k. I am considering changing the hertz6 I got a month ago as I get really poor speed. Get it at their office at Ajesa Street, Wuse 2. That's their HQ. You may also get it at the office at Sticks & Stones plaza, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse 2 or the one at Oando filling station, Wuse Zone 1. It's best you get it at their HQ instead of their other outlets. The reason is that, the HQ has a quota they are allowed to sell per day in order not to pile up devices for onward installation, and they're more professional. So, go early before they meet their quota for that day. Their other outlets over sell the device and are unable to meet up with the timeframe for installation. |

Czsamanie: There's really no way to make sure one gets the hard sim one na.. Abi how.
When you pay, they don't give you the box na. The installer brings it with him.
I just paid at their office in Ikeja, and they told me their installer will call me.
Wanted to even tell them that it's the one with hard sim I want o, but I'm sure they'll just say it's what they send from their office bla bla that I will see, or they may not even know about it sef.
Airtel keeps changing the process around this ODU thing, one staff told me they just change the payment and registration method yesterday again. I got a payment link via my email, then proceeded to Paystack on my phone. I guess it wasn't like that before. They originally registered an Esim variant for me, but it failed to come up, even though it was up on their system. I had to return for a swap, that's when they changed it to a physical sim variant. At the point of registration, you can let them know you want the physical sim variant. |

pheranme9: First review and personal observation so far.
The ODU router pulls better network than the regular router and it's 5G enabled.
I don't have 5G in my area so I'm not getting the full speed.
The battery last around 2-3hrs as it powers 2 devices simultaneously the indoor and outdoor unit.
It presently cost 25k from Airtel office but it's really scarce. (They're currently on promo).
If you're getting the ODU you need to subscribe directly from the mobile app for atleast Months after purchase.
When you want to purchase be careful not to get the esim alone variant. Get the physical sim so that you can remove the sim and put in another router or your tweaked mifi that works with Airtel unlimited.
I didn't do any proper installation I placed it somewhere in my room the last speed test I did got around 18mbps.
I think that would be all for now The emboldened is the reason why you are getting poor speed. In my own case, there's no Airtel base station anywhere near my estate. In my house, I bearly get 1 bar of 4G. When I first tested the device in my compound, I was getting 10Mbps, I even thought they erroneously subscribed a 10Mbps plan on the device because it wouldn't go past 10Mbps. But the moment the installer installed the ODU by the roof's face board, facing a base station that is kilometers away, I started getting constant 50-60Mbps. Fortunately, the base station has 5G, so I am getting 2 to 4 bars of fluctuating 5G reception. |

Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by dustmalik(m): 4:45pm On Sep 30, 2025 |
saint2ace: My guess exactly. Oh well let's keep our fingers crossed, yours should be back up soon. I installed mine some 40mins ago. Unfortunately, there's no Airtel base station in my estate. The nearest Airtel base station is far from my location, so the installer had to mount the ODU close to the roof's face board, facing towards the base station. I am getting different speeds, depending on the speed test service i use. What has been consistent is the upload, which has been very poor. For instance, on speedtest.net, I get a constant 50+Mbps download and 1 to 2Mbps upload speed. On fast.com, I get an average of 20Mbps download and 5Mbps upload.

nani667: Another month gone.. Just resubscribed ✨️
Three months in and I am yet to experience any downtime 🫱🏻🫲🏼 It's good that you are enjoying it and it's been consistent. What I was trying to say is that, Nigeria, as it's today, is not ideal for Fibre. Overseas, you can't just wake up and start digging anywhere you like. You must take permission from your local council office, which has all the plans and schematics of the location. If you try it without their knowledge, you will be arrested and prosecuted. But in Nigeria, anybody can just decide to dig anywhere and end up destroying fibre cables and nothing happens to the person. Service providers will then have to mobilize to that location to carry out repairs or change the damaged cables. Sometimes, it takes weeks before they're able to trace and replace these damaged parts. So, just pray that nobody damages the infrastructure that supplies your location. These things happen very often. Fibre is the best internet connection, but the most vulnerable in Nigeria, because of our laws. |
