The Guardian? I call a BullShit. The Guardian is clearly pro-PDP-cum-Southeast, especially when seeking and citing political and legal opinions and in its news reportage.

The glorious days of the Guardian of Lagos being the doyen of the Nigerian press, is long gone. Sorry.

None around that I'm aware of at the moment, TBH. But my mind just couldn't wait out any longer for several future iterations of the units to be released before I would make it step forward to me. smiley

In the meantime, dear gurus, I think my immediate task is to prepare to properly and optimally handle the 500V (450V max advised to be used, ) capability of the PIP5048GK I will receive soon. I will initially load in 10 panels totalling 3.2KW in 1s with a VoC of ~370V. The rated sweet range for MPPT is 120-450V.

The operation instructions stipulate that arrays to be connected should be ungrounded. The advice is to pass arrays through a combiner box equipped with an arrestor.

Can I get away with just using an arrestor, since I'm starting with a single string? If yes, which particular ones are advised for use in the coastal area?

If I must use a combiner box, kindly advice me on suitable ones. Thanks.

Cool, am planning to buy the 3kva version of the same series (hopefully by march), how do you go about the shipping or did you just use the expensive DHL shipping? Looking forward to read your experience on performance!
I wish you all I can wish myself with your own planned purchase.

MPP Solar wouldn't do shipping methods outside DHL (~USD235, three-day shipping) or FedEx (~USD199, five-day) for the unit. I opted for FedEx.

I'm indeed looking forward to the experience and share.

PoliticsRe: Court Orders Forfeiture Of N1.04bn Traced To Patience Jonathan. by duwdu: 6:43pm On Feb 01, 2019
Naijahit:
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured an interim forfeiture of the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira) only lodged in three deposits with Fidelity Bank Plc on 20th and 25th May, 2015.

The forfeiture order by Federal High Court sitting in Kano and presided over by Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa is consequent upon a motion ex parte filed by the Commission seeking for the interim forfeiture of the money, which was found in the Bank account of Magel Resort Limited, a company linked to the former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan.
The Commission had gotten an intel that a bank account domiciled in Fidelity Bank, had a huge sum of money that was not being used by anybody.

Upon receipt of the intelligence, the EFCC swung into action by conducting preliminary investigation, which revealed that Patience and some relatives of former president, Goodluck Jonathan were directors of the Company. Others named as directors are Oba Oba Tamunotonye, Goodluck Jonathan Aruera, Goodluck Jonathan Ariwabai and Esther Fynface.

In trying to trace the origin of the money, it was discovered that N500,000 was deposited on the 20th of May, 2015 by Fynface, who is alleged to be in charge of the Company, while N1 billion (One Billion Naira Only) was transferred in two tranches on the 25th May, 2015 from PAGMAT OIL AND GAS NIGERIA LIMITED a company that was not incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Ruling on the motion, Justice A. Lewis-Allagoa held that: “An interim forfeiture order is granted to the Federal Government in the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira Only) in the Bank account of the 1st respondent Magel Resort Limited 4011019546 which is maintained with 2nd respondent Fidelity Bank Plc”.

The court further ordered that the forfeited sum be deposited in the Treasury Single Account of the Federal Government.

PoliticsRe: Onnoghen: Osinbajo, NBA Ponder Six-point Resolution. by duwdu: 6:53pm On Jan 31, 2019
peacettw:
Ladies and Gentlemen, this again proves that we are not all equal as far as the law is concerned in this country. In a sane clime, the suspended CJN will be more concerned in going to the courts to clear his good name, to explain the source of the money in his account that he forgot and most importantly to fight the illegality of his removal. By opting for this "soft landing", he is unwittingly agreeing that he committed a crime and pleading for a pardon.

What really annoys me is the demand that the new CJN must be removed as well just to save face. The legal body is no longer concerned about the rape of our constitution, nor the precedence that has been set which will affect us all. Now they are more afraid of the possibility that the suspended CJN may go to jail and to prevent this they will rather sacrifice us all than let that happen. Cowards.

I may not stand with Buhari on a lot of matters but I really do pray that he rejects their demands. I am very much interested in how this man and his army of lawyers will wriggle out of this mess.
You're carried, peacettw! (As in, "Very well said!" )

Just wait until after the NJC meeting tomorrow to know if your impostor will still be a judge of the supreme court let alone AG CJN
Why are you always digging yourself deeper and deeper into your hole?

The NJC is NOT a court of law; it can only make recommendation(s) to the President regarding appointments to/discipline on the Bench.

If, as very unlikely as it is the NJC recommends a reinstatement of the suspended Chief Justice, the President can ignore it without consequences, just like Jonathan did.

God willing, we shall all be here tomorrow or any time after the NJC announces a decision, to appraise your usual chest-beating claims.

My take is that the NJC as a body will either call for/look into more evidence against its suspended Head or recommend his suspension, retirement and formal trial, or outright dismissal.

But hey, what do I know? wink

Racoon:
Given all the permutations & realities on ground @ present, Atiku will win the presidential election in a shocking way the APC never thought they will win the 2015 own. Many never give him a chance & will never see it coming.
Shortly before the 2015 elections, a close friend of mine opined that he feared that the PDP might win o; that what did I think?

I answered that it depended on who one asked, and that as far as I was concerned, the introduction of the Card Reader technology to be used for accreditation during the election, would make it difficult for much of the rigging machines that were previously prevalent, to be effective. My friend answered, "ah, OK."

The rest is now history.

Let me say it here again: The current INEC is dead serious about making the Card Reader ecosystem even more potent against the traditional rigging apparatus of any party. To me, that means the usual phantom vote numbers that would previously emanate from, say, the creeks, would be severely reduced during the elections coming up from about three weeks.

Now, you make of that what you may. Me, I don talk maiyon o.

But hey, what do I know?

Why Buhari may win presidential poll – Brookings Institution

By Timileyin Omilana
24 January 2019   |   3:12 pm

The Brookings Institution, a nonprofit public policy organization based in Washington, DC, has highlighted reasons the ruling All Progressives Congress presidential candidate president Muhammadu Buhari may win the next month presidential poll.
The institute in a publication on Tuesday said: “Buhari appears to have a slight advantage going into the election.”

The Institute said Buhari may win the poll because “APC currently controls 24 states of the federation while PDP controls only 11” and because the ruling party “has a strong presence in the two zones with the highest numbers of registered voters in the country, the Northwest and the Southwest.”

The Northwest and Southwest have approximately 20 million voters and 16 million voters respectively. Lagos and Kano States have the highest number of registered voters with 6.5 million and 5.4 million respectively.

The Brookings Institution’s report authored by Jideofor Adibe said the power of incumbency may also tilt the outcome of the votes in favour of President Buhari.

“APC equally has the advantage of incumbency, conferring them the ability to deploy key state institutions to serve partisan objectives.”

Nigeria heads to polls on February 16 and it is expected to be fiercely contested by candidates from 73 parties, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former Central Bank Deputy Governor, Kingsley Moghalu, Sahara Reporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore are part of the contestants aiming to end Buhari’s reign.

The organisation said it is still unclear if the security challenges, “farmer-herder clashes and the resurgence of Boko Haram and increasing insecurity”, the country is embattled in will affect the “electoral fortunes” for the incumbent president.

For Abubakar, the institute said, “his restructuring may have endeared him to some people in the South, it remains unclear how it will impact his support in the North, where restructuring is viewed with suspicion.”

While Buhari remains the frontrunner, The Brookings’s prediction on Nigeria’s future in the successful eventuality of Buhari’s reelection sounded ominous.

“Regardless of who wins the election, Nigerians are likely to have a tough time this year.”

Diezani’s N264m bribe: Kwara state INEC official convicted

By Adelanwa Bamgboye, Lagos | Published Date Jan 24, 2019 14:28 PM

Justice Mohammed Idris, sitting at a Federal High Court in Lagos, on Thursday, convicted a former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Administrative Secretary in Kwara state, Mr. Christian Nwosu, after he was found guilty.

Nwosu was found guilty of laundering N264million.

The court has however adjourned sentencing until tomorrow, Friday, January 25, 2019 by 12noon and ordered EFCC to ensure Nwosu’s presence.

“I find that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt in the manner required by law. I therefore, find the first and second defendants guilty as charged,” the judge said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned Nwosu for accepting gratification from former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

He was re-arraigned along with Tijani Bashir before Justice Idris.

They were charged with another INEC official, Yisa Adedoyin, who pleaded guilty to the offence and was convicted following a plea bargain.

Nwosu had initially pleaded guilty to receiving N30 million bribe from Mrs. Alison-Madueke to rig the 2015 general election results, but changed his plea to not guilty.
