Politics / Re: Tinubu Lied About Bringing Enron And Econet To Nigeria by dwas: 12:50pm On May 31, 2022
Buckeyemedia1:
Read what you pasted again, he did not bring them, ENRON in a letter dated June 9th 1999, ENRON International showed interest in working with Lagos State.

A month later Enron formed ENPH a special purpose Vehicle to construct & operate power plants in Lagos State.

The following month Lagos State went into an MOU.

From all facts above, it was a private company that wanted to set up business in Lagos State, he did not bring them.

Giving Walmart a private business looking to invest license to operate in Lagos State doesn’t mean you brought them.

With all due respect, all you brought Sir, was digital Agbero, LCC, Lekki Consensus Company & Toll gate, @ the fastest growing part of Lagos State to collect levy on your behalf.

I'm not surprise, it's because Lagos state doesn't make noise like Obi. The facts speaks for itself.
Just as Lagos State partner with China Harbour to build Lekki deepsea port, subsequently will be raking in 20% of profit once operation. The like of you will attribute it to federal government.

Tinubu is on a higher level far above Obi

He who charges must also prove.

Can you enumerate for us what Tinubu achieved as a two-term Governor in Lagos?. I am aware that Lagosians can not drink water from taps powered by their government nor do they have succor from filth and traffic gridlock.

Please list em.

Morning my brother,
You enquire to know what Tinubu did for 8 yeear as governor of Lagos State. Ok

Economy.
During Tinubu term in office, several economic policies were initiated. The first of it's kind was Privatise State government businesses through PPP and other method. Eko Hotel and some other major businesses of state are sold to private investors to manage. Lagos State only holds between 30% to 40% of shareholding. Those businesses had always been making losses until the Lagos state privatised them. Evidence is the Billions of naira to Lagos state government as dividend.

Lagos PPP has also help a long way. Tinubu signed and started the Lekki Free Trade Zone with the same model. He only brought investors and give them land to develop the infrastructure, Lagos state has 25 to 30% in the profit once operational. Today you have the like of Dangote refinery and over 100 foreign companies with FDI in billions of dollars. They will all pay personal income tax to state government.

Lekki deep sea port is another example. Lagos state signed with Tolaram and China Harbour to build about $3billion port in lekki. Tolaram and China Harbours hold 75%, Lagos state government hold 20% while federal government hold 5% through NPA.

Eko Atlantic is another feasible example. Bar beach was a disaster that was waiting to happen but Tinubu turn it to opportunity for Lagos state. The sea was eroding the coastal road. All occupants along the coastal area abandoned their building and fled. Tinubu took the matter to Obasanjo the president but he was turn down. He manned up. That's what gives birth to eko Atlantic. It's also a Private Investment with Lagos state holding certain percentage. Billions of dollars is also flowing in. America Consulate just announced the kick off of their 500million dollar structure in eko Atlantic. When fully operational, Billions of naira will be paid as taxes to state government.
These are just a few on economy.

SECURITY
Tinubu initiated Police Trust Fund where public can co join state government to fund police. That gave birth to Rapid Respond Squard. Money raised were used to buy Harmon vehicle, and other securities apparatus.
LASMA was also initiated.
The goal of Government was to ensure a safer environment for investor to come, invest and recover their investment.

TRANSPORTATION
I don't need to bore you with long BRT, the Train track, Water way etc were all design and some started by Tinubu

LEGAL
There was massive judicial reforms in Lagos state that all the state came to learn and adopted including Federal government. ADR, Office of the Public Defender, etc

Then you can now talk of road, power etc.

When Tinubu started, Lagos was making 600 millions naira per month, but with the vision and policies set, Lagos is making over 50billion naira per month. Federal government did not make Lagos. Lagos governors work hard.

Now to Peter Obi.
I may not know what he did in Anambra, so help list them.
Innosan motor and other industrialist have no business coming to clear container at Lagos port and transport same at almost a million naira per trailer, if any governor in the east could just engage private investors to build port in Anambra. They are all waiting for federal government.

Let's support Soludo as he promised to build one.

More importantly, ESN should stop the menance in the East if you want investor to come in. Without a safer environment, even Soludo with all the wonderful ideas will not be able to achieve anything.

Don't excuse the lazy governor with expropriation. Federal government can't just expropriate state property. By the way, the land belong to the state as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria.

Even if it's so, at the least, let them bring in investor first, if Federal stop the investment, it will be on record.

Cross River State was creative and set up TINAPA as a free trade zone. It has not worked till today because of FG stumbling block.

So it is not a thinking cap matter. It is a political matter.

It also has to be a deliberate FG policy to have Ports in other part of the country work

Blaming others but your government.
How did the federal government stop Tinapa. Hold successive government Imoke and Ayade responsible why they abandoned Tinapa.

Tinapa started and inspire Tinubu to kick start Lekki Free Trade Zone.
You know why Lekki Free Trade Zone works, because Tinubu ensure successive governor in Lagos continue the project. Lagos Policies around the trade zone was consistent.
While other states abandoned projects once a new governor is sworn in, Lagos continues.

So if Tinubu imposes to ensure continuation, which dividend you are seeing today, don't ascribed it to federal government.

Lagos is working hard, please accord it it's right respect

NPA will only get 5% of the profit while Lagos the initiator will get 20% of the profit. The rest 75% go the tolaram group and china harbour the investors

Odia! No qualms.

Tell the Government in those state to be creative like Lagos.

Lagos State facilitated the creation of the Lekki Deep Sea Port. The Port is privately owned for at least 45 years.

Shareholding thus;
China Harbour and Tolaram 75%
Lagos state is 20%
Federal Government is 5%

Therefore, it's not the federal government building the Lekki deep sea port. They only have shares because of the law enabling federal through NPA that territorial sea belong to federal Government. That's the only reason that federal government is involve.

If you must know, Lagos state has many of such Private partnership initiatives she earns percentages from. While Lagos government is being creative, your governors are lazing around waiting for FG to do everything for them.

What stops River states from partnering foreign investors to build rifinery
While they earn certain percentage from the deal. Lagos is not your mate.

What did Tinubu do for Lagos other than mismanage it's treasury?

Are you aware Lagos doesn't even have pipe borne water supply?

Are You aware over 70 percent of it's inner roads are dirt roads ?

Are you aware Lagos doesnt have sewage treatment of any capacity?

Are you aware Lagos has no proper govt health care facility?

Are you for real?
How old are you? Except you are either a baby when Tinubu was governor or you lived outside Lagos state, if not, you must be clueless to ask these questions.

Let me school you.

In 1999, when Tinubu came in, Lagos state generate barely 600million naira per month.
Tinubu led government realised that inorder to librate and expand the economy of Lagos state, it has to partner with private businesses.
Private businesses took substantial shares of state own investment while Lagos state maintain reasonable shareholding, e.g. Eko hotel. The result is alarming, within few months 600 million naira to 1billion plus per month.
Today, there are many of such private partnership like, Eko Atlantic,
Lekki deepsea port (20% profit goes to Lagos state), Lagos free trade zone ( That's where Dangote refinery, petrochemical and fertiliser plant are located) to mention just a few. Lagos state currently generate over 800billion naira every year.

How does this benefit you?
Either you are in Lagos or not, you benefit. If you are in Lagos, especially if you are into trade or services, some of the foreign investors companies buy directly or indirectly from you. When building their factory, they buy building materials with their money from abroad. If you are teacher or pepper seller, you still benefit because someone paid by those company will have money to buy your pepper or pay school fees for their children, in turn, the school where you teach pay your Salary.
If you are not in Lagos, at least, the very worst, the VAT and the company income tax collected by federal Government and share to your state government came from those companies.

Talk about health, Lagos State has the best functioning health care services in Nigeria.
So come with facts and figures. Do not join those that hate for no reason.

Yes. Lagos can do better than this, but it's commendable what Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done. Just a few tips of BAT

Nevertheless, let's not politicised this incident.
BRT remains the safest means of commercial vehicle. There is no means of transportation that can not be used to perperate evil either by hijacking or collaboration by member staff of the operator.
In every good things around us, there is always a judas and saboteurs.
We should always watch out and be vigilant, more importantly, pray never to fall victim. Uber, bolt, yellow buses, taxi, BRT, Train and even plane can all be used.
If you're in doubt about aeroplane being used, read stories about 9/11 in the USA. How did the terrorist got guns into the plane, subsequently hijacking it. There was a compromise by member staffs.
May God protect us all.

Nobody is destroying Lagos bro.
Protesters have a right to protest and the government have a duty to protect its assets.

What I expect Sanwo-Olu to do is invite the parties involved in organizing the protest, provide facts and figures about the dangers involved.

Suggest better ways to handle the situation. For example, provide a park for protesters with full security and also encourage them to be on uniform.

If I didn't see thugs coming out of BRT last year then I wouldn't have said the government brought the destruction upon themselves. Sponsoring thugs against the protesters was where the whole thing started. These people capitalized on the protest to settle age long differences against the government.

With the suggestion above, I think all parties will come to a consensus and will respect each other's view and aim.

This will even go a long way to vindicate the Lagos state government as a respecter of human and constitutional rights.

In addition, we held a protest against PHCN in my area which we got into trouble for because some people destroyed glasses. We payed for the damages and restrategized by organizing a bigger protest but before embarking on that protest, we informed the police and they followed us to the scene.
Everything went peacefully due to police presence and the DPO was very happy with the initiative.
Trying to stop protests will make you look like you're hiding something.

Protesting is your right, but do we need it at this current fragile economy situation. Lots of people are hungry, any opportunity under the guise of protest will only result to violent, looting and destruction.
For your information, those claimed rented tugs are just as the same as all other people that took part in the looting. Check around the world, any protest that extend beyond 10days usually result to violent and looting. Check US last protest or protest in Europe.
Are those also hired thugs.

Moreover, it's a fifty fifty chance. Head or tail. The probability of winning is very high. 1/2. People in the gamble world play more difficult odds like 1 in 1,000 chances. That's out of 1000 outcome, only one wins. So 1out of 2 is a very good odd my people.

Anyone that goes for 1m is very poor mentally

How I wish you and Sowore lead the protest. Nigerian Police, please do not fail to do the needful. Anyone seen gathering in the name of protest should be arrested immediately.

You guys can't continuously be destabilising the economy of the state in the name of protest.

Note that most of the celebrities including Sowore have their money in dollar. They are second citizen abroad, don't let them destroy the one you have.

What has any of them done for the masses except for their benefit.
Check out DJ switch before Endsars and now.

They are attention seeker. Don't fall for their tricks.

KRSWon:

But it was perfectly fine for Buhari to gather people and protest whenever he lost an election?

What if the government of the day had shot dead Buhari and his followers then?

When people have gotten tired and fed up and are protesting innocent people getting murdered, robbed or exploited by police, that's when protests suddenly become a problem?

The question is what are you protesting against. Sars has been disbanded, what else again.
Let me tell you as my people say, heaven will fall, it's not only on one person. It will affect you and all your love one too as long as they are in Nigeria. Destabilising an economy has serious repercussions of hardship

Anyone seen protesting in Lagos Endsars should be arrested and prosecuted. How long are we going to be destabilising the already tense atmosphere.
DJ switch and Sowore businesses are not in Lagos.

The question is what is the end game in this. What is their purpose. Are there still Sars ? Have they ever thought for once what resulted outcome could be.

There many people hungry these days that any unrest in Lagos would be immediately hijacked. Shops and businesses will be looted. Why creating such unrest and inflicting pain on others.
