A Nigerian man recently shared a post on social revealing that a family member asked him to pay the school fees for one of their child because he does not have children of his own. In his post, the man recounted receiving a call from this family member, whom he described as someone he barely communicates with. He expressed his disbelief at the request, stating, “I just remembered this family member from my mom’s side I don’t even talk to called me to tell me that since I don’t have any kids and don’t pay school fees, why don’t I pay for one of her kids? Stupid woman.” He also mentioned that when he informed his father about the incident, his father was ready to confront the woman, saying, “I told my poppy, and he wanted to go fight.”

An eidetic, or photographic, memory involves being able to recall images, names, words, and numbers with extreme precision. If you are not born with an eidetic memory, there's no way to have one. But don't worry! While you may not be able to train yourself to have a completely photographic memory, there are certain things you can do to significantly improve your ability to recall information. Games, activities, strategies, and even lifestyle changes can all help! PART 1: Training your Memory to be More Precise 1. Practice taking an eidetic memory test. To test whether or not you have an eidetic (photographic) memory, you can take a pretty basic test. It involves looking at 2 images that are similar, and trying to superimpose them over one another. You can take the test online via the University of lowa. If you like it, talk to your doctor about taking a certified test. • If it turns out you don't have an eidetic memory, that's totally fine! This test is still a fun way to exercise your brain and improve your memory. 2. Use image associations. One way to help you remember something, whether it is the title of a book or where you left your keys, is to take a moment to visualize the item at hand. For example, if the object is a book called "A Thousand Splendid Suns," take a moment to visualize what a thousand splendid suns would look like. Having the image imprinted in your mind can help you recall the title of the book later. • Similarly, if you place your car keys down on the kitchen counter, try to imagine your keys doing something silly in the kitchen, like cooking or eating fruit in the fruit bowl. When it comes time to look for your keys later, you'll be unlikely to forget that silly image you created in your head. 3. Repeat names. Many people struggle to remember the names of people they have just met, even after only 30 seconds. This is likely because we tend to focus so much on ourselves (how we look, whether we're being polite, etc) that we neglect to listen to the other person's name. This can be especially difficult if you are being introduced to several people at once. • One way to combat this is to repeat the person's name right after meeting them: "Nice to meet you, Sam." If you didn't hear the name properly or couldn't catch how to pronounce it, be sure to clarify this right away to avoid having to ask again later. • Another way to remember names is to associate the new name with somebody you already know by that name. If you don't already know anybody by that name, then try to think of a character in a book or film with that name. Making this kind of association can help you recall the name later. whytevardy:I no right I don't know the sort of attraction that would even make that fiancee fall for the mother in the first place |
Hello, lovers and the romantically curious! Welcome to today's episode of Love and Life, where we take your wildest stories and try to make sense of the madness. Today's episode will have you screaming at your phone screen but don't just take our word for it. The Story: My Mother is in Love with my Fiancé I am 25 years old and still live with my parents. I wouldn't describe their marriage as ideal. My father constantly accuses my mother of having extramarital affairs, and, to be honest, he isn't entirely wrong. My mother has a preference for dating younger men, and more than once, my father has sent away young men who show up at our home pretending to seek employment as drivers. Since I spent most of my life in boarding school from JSS1, / don't know my mother as well as I'd like, apart from what I see during the holidays and hear from my younger siblings. All I know is that she is fashionable, beautiful, and a socialite. My father, on the other hand, is more family-oriented, while my mother rarely cares about us. We've come to accept her as she is, and whenever I'm home, I tell my father not to worry too much about her behaviour. After 26 years together, he's used to it. My father is the one holding the marriage together-my mother doesn't seem to care. Although I've long known about my mother's weakness for young, virile men, I never imagined she would be capable of sleeping with my boyfriend. About three months ago, I brought my fiancé home to meet my parents. After finishing school before me, he travelled to England to further his studies and returned four months ago to propose. Since his family knew me well, I wanted my parents to meet him and support our plans to spend our lives together. Three weeks later, his parents came for the formal introduction, and we began planning the wedding, set for December 18. During this period, I unexpectedly saw my mother and fiancé leaving a hotel together, where she casually pecked him on the lips before driving off. My fiancé confessed everything when I confronted him, claiming he doesn't understand how he ended up in that situation. He says my mother had invited him to discuss wedding plans... A 14-year-old from Snellville, Georgia, US, has emerged as the winner of the 3M Young Scientist Challenge after creating a portable device aimed at detecting pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables. Sirish Subash distinguished himself with his Al-powered sensor, earning him the top award of $25,000 and the esteemed title of "America's Top Young Scientist." Like many inventors, Sirish was driven by curiosity and a straightforward question. His mother often reminded him to wash fruit before eating it, which led him to wonder whether this practice made much difference. He discovered that 70% of produce carries pesticide residues linked to potential health issues such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease-and that washing only partially reduces the contamination. He said, "If we could detect them, we could avoid consuming them and reduce the risk of those health issues." Follow up with all the updates on Dyshus |

President Bola Tinubu has restricted Ministers, Ministers of State, and Heads of Agencies of the Federal Government to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys. No additional vehicles will be assigned to them for movement. The cost-cutting measure was announced today in a statement signed by the President and issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy. In January this year, President Tinubu took significant steps to reduce government expenditure by reducing his entourage on foreign trips from 50 to 20 officials. For local trips, he reduced it to 25 officials. He similarly reduced the Vice President’s entourage to five officials on foreign trips and 15 for local trips. In the directive issued today, President Tinubu also ordered all ministers, ministers of state, and heads of agencies to have at most five security personnel attached to them. The security team will comprise four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer. No additional security personnel will be assigned, he ordered. President Tinubu instructed the National Security Adviser to engage with the Military, Paramilitary and Security Agencies to determine a suitable reduction in their vehicle and security personnel deployment. All affected officials are expected to comply with these new measures immediately, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of these changes. Interested in what's happening in Nigeria's politics? Bovi Ugboma, the stand-up comedian, has weighed in on the roles of husbands and wives in families. The actor was reacting to Kanayo O. Kanayo’s statement emphasizing men’s financial responsibility during a recent interview on TVC’s Your View. Bovi acknowledged that culturally, men are expected to provide for their families, but also stressed the importance of empowering women to pursue their ambitions and become financially independent. The comedian said if a woman’s passion drives her to provide, her contributions should be recognized and respected. Bovi also highlighted the practical benefits of women’s financial independence, citing scenarios where a woman can support herself and her family if her husband passes away or leaves. “You have to understand that even those of us who are providing, our egos are easily bruised, not to talk of you sitting at home and expecting her to provide,” he said. “And it is the spiral effect that is the issue. If you want to sit at home. If you want to do 50/50 with your wife, do it in peace. But understand that there are effects for your wives providing for you. “Generally speaking, man is the provider. However, if the passion of a woman has pushed her to a level she can provide, you must recognise that power in the woman. “I like a man who provides. That is what is cultural. If your woman is ambitious, then you have to find the middle ground. I provide everything in my home. “Personally, a man should provide for his family. I also believe in today’s world, a woman should be encouraged to chase her dream. “And if those dreams make her economically powerful then it is welcome. If a man dies what happens to the woman when she is not economically powerful? And if a man chooses to misbehave and say leave my house, what happens to the woman?” For context Bovi is married to Kris Asimonye Ugboma and they have three children. You know that feeling when everything just clicks? Like when your favourite playlist is on shuffle, and it magically plays every banger? Well, that's how some of our fave celebs describe finding the one. Whether you're crushing on someone or deep into a relationship, these stars spill the tea on how they knew it was real. Here's what they had to say- uncensored and totally relatable. A$AP Rocky and Rihanna First up, we have A$AP Rocky. In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, he gushed about knowing that Rihanna was the one. He didn't hold back, saying, Rocky said: "It's a lot of history between us...I was kicked out of this nightclub. They wasn't giving me no access to it... I was getting into it with the bouncers, and she came out. We just locked eyes. She didn't even know us, but she was like, 'Yo! Why y'all not letting him in? What's wrong with you?! Let that man in!", he continued. "I knew from when we were younger. We both did, I think," Rocky said of when he knew Rihanna was the one. "So it was only right when we got older. We just kind of reconnected." And let's be honest-if Rihanna is your girl, you definitely know! His advice? When your partner feels irreplaceable, and they keep raising your vibe, that's a major clue. Zendaya and Tom Holland (Allegedly) Okay, okay-so Tomdaya is still one of Hollywood's worst-kept secrets. But let's be real: the way Tom looks at Zendaya tells us all we need to know. While they haven't been super public, Tom dropped this gem during an interview about Spider-Man where Tom and Zendaya played each other's love interest: "/ have no rizz whatsoever, I have limited rizz," he started. "/ need you to fall in love with me, really, for it to work. So, long game. Probably making a movie with each other-it definitely helps when the characters are falling in love with one another, you can sort of blur the lines a little bit. That's kind of where my rizz is at. And, you know, I'm locked up. I'm happy and in love, so I've got no need for rizz." Simple but powerful. If being with someone feels natural, that's probably a sign they're the one. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s signing of the ₦70,000 minimum wage bill into law in July has stirred a lot of reactions across Nigeria. This new wage, which is a substantial 133% increase from the previous ₦30,000, is aimed at easing the economic struggles that many Nigerians face daily. However, the adoption of this change has been slow in several states. The Nigerian Governors Forum had previously raised concerns about whether some states could manage the new wage. In a positive development, six governors have stepped up to not only implement the ₦70,000 minimum wage but also commit to paying even more. Here’s a look at the governors making a difference: Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) On October 16, 2024, during an interview on Channels Television, Sanwo-Olu announced that Lagos civil servants would be receiving ₦85,000 as the new minimum wage, which is ₦15,000 more than what was set by President Tinubu. He expressed, “I’m glad to share that the minimum wage for Lagos is now ₦85,000.” He emphasized that it’s not about competing with other states but about what’s affordable and reasonable, especially given the higher cost of living in Lagos. Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers) Similarly, Governor Fubara has approved ₦85,000 as the new minimum wage for Rivers State, sharing this news in a statement on October 18, 2024. Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) Abiodun is also stepping up for Ogun workers, announcing a new minimum wage of ₦77,000, according to a statement from Tokunbo Talabi, the secretary to the state government, on October 15, 2024. Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo) During his campaign kickoff ahead of the upcoming election, Aiyedatiwa announced on October 12, 2024, that he would set the minimum wage at ₦73,000. Ahmed Ododo (Kogi) On October 7, 2024, Ododo approved ₦72,500 as the minimum wage for Kogi workers and even suspended the tax burden on this amount for a year. Muhammad Yahaya (Gombe) Finally, Yahaya signed an agreement with the state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress on October 15, 2024, committing to a minimum wage of ₦71,500. As Nigeria grapples with economic challenges, these governors are taking meaningful steps to improve the lives of workers in their states, showing that they’re committed to supporting their citizens during tough times. Popular movie star, Van Vicker celebrates his 21st wedding anniversary with a beautiful note. He took to his Instagram page to reflect on the journey so far with his wife, Adjoa as he shared some marriage tips with folks. Van Vicker noted that marriage is indeed a beautiful thorn of roses with lovely and trying times. However, he highlighted that at all times, what matters most is the will between the couple. Additionally, he noted that one of the things that matter the most is staying in love and not merely just falling in love. He wrote … “Today is my 21st wedding anniversary. I am grateful to God. Marriage is a bed of thorning roses😁 It has extremely lovely times and trying moments. In all moments, ‘THE WILL’ is key. Getting married to the ‘right’ person is critical (knowing the person substantially). Staying ‘in love’ is paramount (not just ‘loving’ your spouse) And finally, for me, it’s ‘the desire’ to want to stay married (in the absence of abuse). The culminated effect of these 3 points may transcend those thorns in the roses. Pricky as they may be, however, the internal remedies are sufficient to let you move to the next day and the next and for years. Regardless of the thorns love is STILL a beautiful thing. I have no regrets about being married and staying married. I pray for Grace to continue this beautiful struggle. I am blessed to have my wife Adjoa Van Vicker by my side all these years. Have known her for 30 years of life. Happy anniversary to us.” Tap in to catch the latest relationship drama on the Dysh App now!💃💘
