The first time I came to terms with how dangerous the "Oga's Wife" mentality is was in a barbershop. A Nigerian mother of three kids recounts how her husband flew to America for cancer treatment but faked his death and started a new life with another woman.

A relationship adviser, Dr Gbadebo Adeoye on Instagram shared the heart-wrenching story on his page following an anonymous narration from the woman.

Appearing on the latest edition of the Business Untitled Podcast, the ‘OBO’ crooner lamented the “boxing” of all African artists into the Afrobeats genre regardless of their musical styles.

He said: “The first place that accepted African music outside Africa is the UK before America later joined. The UK termed African music Afrobeats.

“Afrobeat is a sound that was originally pioneered by Fela Kuti. But now all African songs are termed Afrobeats. If an African artiste sings pure R&B, sounding like SZA, Summerwalker, they put them under Afrobeats. If an African rapper rapping like Drake, they still put them under Afrobeats.

The controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, on Monday, filed a notice of appeal challenging the six months maximum sentence given to him by a Federal High Court, Lagos.

Mr Okuneye was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on four counts bordering on naira abuse.

He pleaded guilty before Justice A.O. Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos.

Justice Awogboro, on April 12, sentenced Mr Okuneye to six months imprisonment without an option of fine.

The judge while sentencing the convict said the judgment should serve as a deterrent to others fond of abusing and mutilating the naira.

However, counsel for Mr Okuneye, Bimbo Kusanu, filed a notice of appeal, praying the Court of Appeal to set aside the maximum sentence.

Mr Kusanu is asking the court to replace the sentence with an option of N50,000 fine on each of the counts.

The counsel stated in the notice of appeal that the trial court imposed the maximum sentence on the appellant, who had no previous criminal record of conviction.

He stated that there were options to impose a lesser sentence by the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA.

He averred that the sentence imposed by the trial court against the appellant was punitive and contrary to the mandatory provisions of the ACJA.

The appellant stated that the trial court did not consider the positive antecedent of the appellant, who did not waste the time of the court by pleading guilty to the charge.

He stated that the appellant honoured the invitation of the respondent on the first invitation.

He said that the trial court failed to exercise its discretion judiciously and judicially in sentencing the appellant.

He explained that such an act had occasioned a miscarriage of justice against the appellant.

A bride requested a divorce 24 hours after their wedding after her husband violated the ‘one rule’ she'd had for their big day.

A lady has taken to social media to share her unsettling dating experience, wherein the man who took her on a date requested a refund after footing the bill for their meal.
The lady, whose identity remains anonymous, recounted a peculiar encounter with a man she went on a date with, where he asked her for a refund after covering the bill for their meal.
According to the lady, they both had agreed to split the bill at a sushi restaurant. However, when her card was declined, the man offered to pay for both their meals.

Despite this seemingly generous gesture, the lady was taken aback when the man later requested that she transfer her half of the bill back to his account.

In her post, she detailed the sequence of events, mentioning how the man appeared to be calculating the cost of their meal and made a remark about trying a dessert she ordered “maybe one time.”

Despite her card being declined, she attempted to make light of the situation by joking with the waiter about needing to insert her pin due to tapping too many times.

After the man paid for the meal, the woman received a text from him the following day, requesting reimbursement for her half of the bill.

“Had a date. Went for sushi. I got a few dishes and he seemed to be counting his coming through. I got some strawberry cheesecake mochi and he said ”that looks nice. I’ll try it maybe one time. Spend enough today ahahaa

Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer, Simisolo Kosoko, better known as Simi, has revealed her thoughts on a very much controversial topic – the comparison between herself and her fellow superstar husband, Adekunle Gold.

Speaking to African Folder during an exclusive interview, Simi described the comparison between her career and her husband’s as ‘Shallow’ while responding to a question thrown at her regarding her thoughts on her career being compared to that of Adekunle Gold.

She said although the comparisons are expected, they do not hold water since both of them do entirely different things and are on a different journey.

“What gets to me about this question is the fact that I am married to an artist, people then take my life, my music, and compare it to my husband, the father of my child, which in all honesty, I feel is a little ignorant because we are not the same. Gladys Adija, an ex corper, disclosed in an interview with PUNCH that she served in Plateau state and worked hard to save her NYSC allowance.

She said that she had stayed with a friend who lived close to her primary assignment location and tried to avoid incurring additional costs.

Despite just using N8K each month, she said that she saved N320K from her NYSC allowance.

Her media interview went like this:

“During my stay in Plateau, I had the privilege of staying with a long-time acquaintance who resided near my primary assignment location. She happened to be working at a nearby establishment, which made it convenient for both of us. I approached her with the request to lodge at her place temporarily, and she graciously agreed to accommodate me,” Gladys said.How was your experience with the NYSC scheme?

“By the end of my service year, I was able to save around N320,000. Despite only spending N8,000 of my monthly allowance and saving the rest, I still struggled to meet my friend’s standards of living. To make ends meet, I took on cleaning and washing jobs, as well as tutoring children for extra income. Though my friends mocked me for my frugal lifestyle at the time, I am grateful for where I am today. Nevertheless, while I was serving, my child was in the care of my parents. Therefore, my NYSC experience was not a pleasant one, which is why I always advise women to avoid engaging in premarital sex.”

How did your friend react when you were unable to meet her standards?

At the end of each month, my mother would send me food supplies to sustain us. Additionally, I managed to have some income through a part-time job I held, the proceeds of which I used to purchase essential household items. I did my best to contribute within my means, while also ensuring my friend’s needs were met. However, as I began to realize that I was unable to participate in certain activities that required significant expenditures to save up, I started refraining from social gatherings.

Whenever I received invitations to hang out, I would politely decline, stating that I had commitments such as attending Bible study or being preoccupied with other responsibilities. Consequently, I earned the nickname ‘stingy coco’ from some individuals who were unaware of my financial constraints, because most of them didn’t know that I was not stingy and that I was going with my plans.
