You've probably heard the term "emotional baggage." It's sometimes used to describe the phenomenon of carrying past trauma or so-called negative experiences through life, relationships, or a career. You may see this reflected in someone's posture as if they're carrying around an unbearable weight. It may even prevent them from moving forward in life. Everyone carries unprocessed emotions from experiences. to some degree. However, emotions that aren't dealt with don't just go away. They can affect: * the way you think about yourself * how you react to stress * your physical well-being * your relationships with others After all, emotional baggage gets its name from somewhere, right? Let's unpack the layers of how and where emotions get stuck, so you can release what's weighing you down. What does it mean to have 'trapped' emotions? Perhaps you've heard of people crying during yoga, massage, or acupuncture treatment because of a tender spot that, when activated, appears to lead to an emotional release. Though some may refer to trauma being "stored" or "trapped" in the body, that isn't necessarily a scientific way to put it. However, the symptoms of traumatic stress can manifest physically. This may be because the brain associates this area with a particular memory-often on a subconscious level. Activating certain areas of the body may trigger these memories, according to Mark Olson, PhD, LMT, the owner and director of the Pacific Center for Awareness & Bodywork. "Emotions are constantly being generated-subconsciously or consciously-in response to the reactivation of memories or unsatisfied goals," Olson says. "The touch to X area is simply a reliable stimulus to reconstruct the pattern associated with that traumatic event." Touch may bring up emotions, or a memory may create sensations in a particular area of the body. While this is usually associated with a bodily location, Olson believes that everything is happening in the brain. If you ever interview job candidates, you need a Non- Negotiable List. This list is used during the interview process to help identify "warning signs" that candidates aren't a good fit for the organization or position. When a candidate shows one of these warning signs, he or she is no longer considered as a potential hire. We used a Non-Negotiable List quite effectively at my old company, curbing our turnover by over 90% in one year. The genesis of the list were the many occasions where on the heels of a new employee not working out (fired or resigned), one of the interviewers would say something like "You know, when I interviewed him/her I noticed he/she... (Fill in the blank with any of the items on the list below.) When it comes to interviewing, trust your gut. This list will help you start creating a list of your own, using warning signs for behaviours that clash with your company culture. 1. Could not look me in the eye. 2. Could not answer the most rudimentary questions succinctly and directly, but instead provided a wandering and vague "answer." 3. Did not show up to the interview on time and appeared not to have a legitimate excuse. 4. During the first conversation/interview, asked about how many vacation days or work breaks were allowed. 5. Did not know what the organization does and/or what my job function was. 6. Bad-mouthed their current or last boss/employer. 7. Exhibited a high degree of drama when discussing their current or past employment experiences. In an attempt to encourage users to upgrade to newer iPhone models, Apple raises the cost of replacing an out- of-warranty iPhone battery. Apple has indicated it will increase the service fee cost for replacing a battery in an older iPhone handset, so users of those devices are being urged to replace their batteries immediately. Apple announced by adding a paragraph outlining the price increase to its website for iPhone battery replacements. The webpage states, "The current out-of-warranty battery service fee will apply until February 2023. Effective March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will be increased by for all $20 iPhone models prior to iPhone 14." When purchasing a new battery from Apple, an iPhone 13 owner would have to pay $69. The tech giant will charge $89 starting in March. Older iPhones, some iPads, MacBook laptops, and some international markets will all see increases in battery prices. All iPhone 14 battery replacements are covered by warranty and are therefore free of charge if necessary. But after a year from the date of purchase, when iPhone 14 handsets start to lose their warranty, Apple will charge $99 to replace the battery. View article Link |
Why spend a fortune on perfume or cologne when you can make your own for cheap? Brand name perfume/cologne are costly why spend that much when you can create your own fragrance with vodka and essential oils? Instead of wearing a fragrance that everyone else wears, you can make your own unique blend. Your own aromatic creations also make a thoughtful gift. Step 1: What You Need to know Ingredients: * Vodka (the higher percentage of alcohol, the better) or Everclear if you can get it * Essential oils*, fragrance oils**, infused oils, even flavour*** extracts (make sure it's pure) such as vanilla extract distilled or spring water * glycerine (this can be found in pharmacies) You can also make your own perfume oil. **Fragrance oils are synthetic and are less expensive than essential oils. ***Quite a few perfumes use food flavours in them, so extracts are an easy way of incorporating them into your own creations. Sterilize the bottles and jars in the dishwasher, especially if you are reusing bottles. They need to be clean and sterile. Step 3: Add the Alcohol Measure 1/4 cup of vodka/Everclear and pour into jar. This is where the magic begins... Add approximately 25 drops of essential/fragrance oil. * write down the oil and the number of drops Take the next scent and repeat as above until you have added the approximate number of drops. Feel free to add more or less to create the desired fragrance. If you are just starting out and don't know which scents to try. You can divide the alcohol into smaller volumes and try different combinations, experiment, be creative, and have fun with it. Once you are happy with the fragrance that you've created, it is time to let it age. Place it in a cool dark location for a minimum of 48 hours, up to a month. Now that the fragrance is ready, it needs to be diluted. • Add 2 tablespoons of distilled/spring water. If you are making a perfume spray, add more water. • Add approximately 5 drops of glycerine; this helps preserve the fragrance View article link If you have any questions just leave it below

Weekend jobs can be undertaken for a variety of reasons. You may be a student looking to support yourself through a degree or gain valuable work experience, a stay-at-home parent working weekends to boost the family's income, or someone looking for additional work alongside existing employment. Whatever your reasons, there are now more options than ever. Traditional roles of the past, such as hospitality and retail, have been supplemented by work-from-home opportunities and the rising gig economy, where workers are hired on a temporary or freelance basis. The most appropriate jobs for you will depend on whether you're looking for ways to make money on the side, for weekend jobs that offer maximum flexibility or to build your experience in preparation for a future career. The following list offers 10 of the best weekend jobs around, each with individual benefits suitable for a range of circumstances. Hospitality Work Restaurants, hotels, pubs and clubs all receive a higher footfall at the weekend, and so demand for labour is higher then. The type of roles available range from waiting and bar staff to front of house and security. Hospitality requires excellent customer service skills and can often be a demanding environment to work in, so it is best suited to outgoing, patient and friendly individuals. Tutoring If you think you have valuable skills and knowledge to share, tutoring can be one of the most rewarding side jobs for extra money. There are several options available, most of which do not require a formal teaching qualification, though you will need to prove suitable knowledge of your chosen subject. Online tutoring networks, such as Superprof, allow you to register as a private tutor, set your rates and choose face- to-face or online tuition. Alternatively, you could make tutorial videos and upload them to a digital learning community like Skillshare. Freelance Work If you're looking for ways to make money on the side while building a professional portfolio, one of the best weekend jobs is to offer your skills as a freelance service. There are many skills commonly sought on an ad-hoc basis, such as copywriting, proofreading, graphic design, digital marketing. photography, and web design. Websites like Upwork and PeoplePerHour allow you to pitch for advertised freelance opportunities. Earning potential for beginners is generally quite low, but the more experience you gain, the more likely you are to land the higher-paying jobs.
