It is no news when a container weighing between 20ft - 40ft falls off a bridge at Ojuelegba, Lagos, Nigeria, crushing whatever vehicle is underneath. And yet, nothing seems to be done about this.

On Sunday, January 29, 2023, a container weighing about 20ft fell off the Ojuelegba bridge crushing a commercial bus beneath it, killing nine people, including two children. An eyewitness account said the truck driver was trying to overtake a bus on the bridge when the container fell off the bridge.

This is one of the many occurrences, and it begs the question of what the government is doing. Three members of the same family were killed in 2015 by this same occurrence. Another two people on June 19, 2018. Four people were killed on September 20, 2021, and a middle- aged man on April 2, 2022. There have been many other incidents in other locations across Lagos and the country. What is the government doing about this?
