A woman, Woye Ella, has sought for divorce after her husband attempted to set her ablaze.

Ella on Tuesday, filed a petition against her husband in an FCT Customary Court in Garki, Abuja, to dissolve her marriage.

The businesswoman stated that her husband usually overreacts over little provocation.

She added that sometimes her husband would become very hostile and chase her with a dangerous object like a screwdriver and knife.

“It got to a point that he poured petrol on me to set me on fire, it was my neighbours who saved my life that day.

“He was overpowered by our neighbours and was taken to a nearby police station where he was detained for four days, till his father came from the village to intervene.

“When he was asked the reason for his actions, he couldn’t mention anything tangible,” she said.

Ella also told the court that she eventually moved out of the house for fear of being killed by her estranged spouse.

She prayed the court to order her husband to vacate the apartment in which they were living, prior to her exit.

The petitioner also claimed that she is the owner of the property.

“I bought the land and built the house myself,” she said.

Nollywood star actress Ini Edo has explained how her best laid marital plans went horribly wrong. In a podcast on Buzz the actress revealed that she got married at 26 because she thought by 31 she would have been done with childbearing so she could concentrate on her career.

But then, the best laid plans could go horribly wrong as over six miscarriages dashed her plans.

” Getting married at 26 I thought by 31 I would have been done to face my career squarely but life didn’t pan out that way. I have had over six miscarriages, I don’t like going into it. Hendricks was killed on Saturday near the southern city of Gqeberha after assailants ambushed his vehicle and opened fire.

According to reports, the imam had just finished officiating a lesbian wedding before he was killed.

A police statement said Hendricks was in a car with another person on Saturday when a vehicle stopped in front of them and blocked their exit.

“Two unknown suspects with covered faces got out of the vehicle and started firing multiple shots at the vehicle,” the statement reads.

“Thereafter they fled the scene, and the driver noticed that Hendricks, who was seated at the back of the vehicle was shot and killed.”

The imam ran a mosque intended as a haven for gay and other marginalised Muslims.

His killing has stirred anger from the LGBTQ+ community.

Hendricks, involved in various LGBTQ advocacy groups, came out as gay in 1996.

He was also the subject of a 2022 documentary called “The Radical,” which gave an insight into his queer choice as a clergyman.

Hendricks previously alluded to threats against him but insisted that “the need to be authentic” was “greater than the fear to die”.
