I hope Buhari has stopped operating that Midland bank account, same account that mysteriously has 2.8billion deposited then removed in 1984/85. Can't his daughter in the UK manage his account or Buhari doesn't trust her? Could it be for medical reasons? |

BlackHuman: This is disastrous, Let's just say approximately all states in Nigeria are owing Wether P.D.P or APC or XYZ.....Madam Ngozi Iweala has thrown d economy into a big mess..Havard my foot. Yeah, Crude oil price has gone south so States can't afford to pay workers. It shows how stupid dis country is, anyway d Blame stops at Jonathan's Desk. He is/was d president and he should have grown the balls to fire or atleast sanction NOI for her terrible job performance. ....Pls as from now on, let no government appoint any "foreign expatriate" to man the affairs of this country. Havard, Yale, World bank-Mean nothing.....We need "real nigerians" with indegenous, homebased work experience. Who really understand d problems facing the country and have practical solutions.......Not people who work based on textbooks they read in school. You read the article I suppose, digested it and your brain came up this. Is NOI responsible for managing the economic affairs of the given states.? Did the states claim that they did not receive their allocation? Why are some states able to pay and others owe? If you do not start asking questions of your local politicians from ward councillors to LG chairmen to state governors but instead "robotically" scream FG then you will continue to languish in penury and debt because these politicians will keep milking you dry and blaming the FG. |

Scholes007: This labour force self...yea Abia owes the workers in ABSUTH but it is not more than three months...The primary and secondary school teachers have got at least their march salaries. Those in Abia state civil service have been paid their April salaries...I see no reason for strick considering our economic situation now...maybe the ABSUTH could jst give a 1wk warning strick Your post is annoying and insensitive. Are you trying to say that they should wait for 1 year before complaining. How do you expect them to cater for their families without salary for 3 months. Even if you are still in secondary school you should be able to understand that. What economic situation is one considering when states like Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi with much lower allocations have managed to pay their staff and execute more projects. How can a state with an IGR treasure like Aba, oil producing communities (13%derivation, NDDC) be owing salaries. Abia state has an extremely irresponsible government. |

I keep saying that we need to put pressure on the state governments to perform.
Their under performance directly affects the populace the most.
Most governors just sit like sloths waiting for FG allocation without any thought at generating revenue. |

This is what state governments should be doing.
Generating revenue and striving towards self sufficiency.
Not collecting FG allocation, sharing it and stretching their arms out for more without any attempt to grow their economies.
That is why many state governments are in heavy debt.
Anambra is really moving in the right direction. |

Lagos has been the capital of Nigeria since 1914 till 1991. Way before Akwaibom came into existence.
And prior to that was the major British colony in West Africa even in the 17th century.
For someone to wake up and start showing pictures of painted kerbs and Lagos skyline, fraudulent PPPs and substandard architecture in a megacity that is centuries old.
And worst of all go ahead and compare it to a state that is a few decades old is extreme stewpidity. Which further buttressed the monumental failure Lagos is.
Before you scream allocation.
Lagos IGR more than makes up for this. The FG presence in Lagos is unparalleled as virtually all the major bridges are FG owned and serviced as well as different FG ministries. The private companies apart from taxes have a cooperate social responsibility that Lagos heavily benefits from.
So what does the state do with all the IGR. Where is Lekki international airport?
Wher is Eko Atlantic?
Where is Lagos light rail?
No standard sport facility in a megacity.
These are the projects we should be asking of, not Brown 3 story buildings built for friends and tagged estate. |

DanNafada: I am neither a Gynaecologist nor a Surgeon and I do realise nobody is infallible. However, every reasonably competent doctor will know severe anaemia or blood loss with lower abdominal or pelvic pain, especially in a young woman, should scream pregnancy - even if the patient denies a history of pregnancy. Appendicitis hardly ever causes severe blood loss. A quick pregnancy test probably would have save her life. Sad story. May her soul rest in peace. Spot on. Ruptured ectopic may be missed if one relies on patient history alone. However, that unmistakable pallor with abdominal pain in a woman of child bearing age should always prompt one to probe for ectopic pregnancy. A Pregnancy test is a fast and simple test. Ultrasound throws more light. However, i do not know the full details so i cannot apportion blames. |

texazzpete: Sadly, you TANoids are relentless in your quest for im'becility. Did I say anything about the origin story of the bill? I pointed out that the current FOI that was passed was sponsored by Abike Dabiri. You go on to confirm that it indeed was sponsored by Mrs Dabiri...so why insult your betters?
Whether or not GEJ signed it into law, the fact remains that the heavy lifting was done in the legislative, and a bill that was weaker than originally intended - and weaker than the version OBJ rejected - found its way to GEJ for signature. Even OBJ would have signed this version of the bill.
This whole discussion stemmed from your desperate bid to tie GEJ's signing of the bill to his nonexistent 'fight against corruption'. FOI bill was passed in 2011, yet the NNPC cabals, Oil bunkerers, solid mineral crooks, ministerial embezzlers and state-sponsored scams were still allowed to run unimpeded.
You cannot revise history. We voted out this Government for their ineptitude towards the fight against corruption. Continue to shed salty tears up until you see GMB take the Oath on May 29th. Lol You said GEJ MERELY signed the bill. Which is absolute bunkers cause he could have killed it just like OBJ but didn't. All the information the public has on the happenings in the various arms of government stem from that bill. How will you fight corruption if you do not even know it's origins. OBJ government was much more corrupt and yet no one was shouting cause everyone was shut out. |

texazzpete: You TANoids keep yapping about the FOI bill... Yet BudgitNG is constantly being refused in their request to get details of the salaries paid to legislators and PWC could not get access to the NPDC and CBN accounts.
LOL
GEJ merely signed into law the FOI bill that was passed by the legislative, a bill sponsored by a member of the opposition (Abike Dabiri). Giving GEJ credit for the FOI bill is just laughable. Please don't display your ignorance. The FOI bill was one of the oldest pending bills since 1999 till passage. If know anything about the bill, then you will know that OBJ refused to sign it in 2007. So GEJ could have done the same but chose not to. What you wrote is very laughable because the original bill is older than Abike Dabiri. Even though she helped push the course. Read below. Tortuous Routes to Passage Since 1999, when the journey began, the bill held the record of being the oldest legislation to pass through the legislative process in the National Assembly. Aside the fact that it encountered stiff resistance from successive administrations starting from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former members of the parliament, had struggled hard to scuttle its passage. The closest the bill came to enactment was in 2007, when it was passed by both chambers of the legislature and sent to Obasanjo for assent, but he refused to sign the bill. Today the rest is history but nothing seems to have changed. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/nigerians-and-the-freedom-of-information-act/202967/ |
