OrlandoOwoh: In what other way did you want Jonathan to thwart the electoral process other than the one displayed by his minister and member of his party, Orubebe? When will you realize that Jonathan could not rig the election having been rejected by Nigerians?
God bless the Presiden. I don't really understand what you wrote or its relevance to the discussion. |
Car Talk › Re: Help! My Mechanic Is Driving Me CRAZY by eaglechild: 12:08pm On Jun 06, 2015 |
I just could not resist commenting after going through this thread because i've had a similar experience but a different outcome.
I can recall that years ago when I got my first car I needed to have the compressor changed. So I got to the expert following a recommendation from a friend. The mechanic checked it out and confirmed I needed a new compressor and told me the amount. I replied that it was ok by me and asked him to tell me when it was convenient for us to go pick it up.
He gave me a funny look and told me he doesn't work that way and he would simply make a call and it will be delivered if not I was free to go buy it myself but he will not give any guarantees. I simply played along with him and he did a very good job at the end.
Looking back now I do not bother to accompany any mechanic to get any car part. It is absolutely unnecessary, all you need to do is have an idea of the price and get someone trustworthy as a mechanic that will deliver good service.
I think hoodboy may have been a victim of transferred aggression. From the good reports on Gazzuz his honesty and competence seem not to be in doubt.
He may have been in a bad mood or you struck a wrong cord inadvertently. It happens and both of you should just move on peacefully. |

lexy2014: if buhari had done d same 4years ago, would that have qualified him 4a nobel peace prize? If buhari had conceded defeat would that have conferred on him d status of a hero? I don't think so Buhari was not a sitting president in the ruling party that has been in power for close to two decades and has the ability to thwart the elections in his favour but refused to interfere with the electoral commission and electoral process. In other words GEJ could have done all that but chose not to. Imagine how difficult it was for Buhari to concede defeat in his relatively less powerful position and the carnage it caused. Now picture if he was in power. That is the typical African leader for you and that is why GEJ stands out. |

abatically: Majority of Nigerian owners don't know and don't care if Toyota is killing the venza. That is a wrong assumption. We wanted to get a vehicle for my mum and that was the singular reason we struck off the Venza. I also know an owner that got hers brand new and wants to sell for that same reason. On the other hand, if one is interested in a buying a vehicle one always tends to notice its presence more. |

lexy2014: there's a lot of hate and emotional talk on NL which doesn't give room 4 mature intellectual discourse. I don't believe in projecting hate or using insults 2 make a point. D election was a contest btw 2 sides. D rules were clear, winner takes all. just like in a football match, d side with d highest score wins. Conceding defeat isn't a made in heaven act, its just rare in africa. GEJ did d right thing. Does that make him great or a legend? I don't think so. If buhari defeats BH, does that make him great, no. He is just doing his job. If he makes d economy work, he is just doing his job. Nothing special Contesting the results that were obviously marred by gross irregularities albeit on both sides will still have been under the rule of law. However, it would have led to very frayed nerves and post election violence with loss of human lives and property. A further dip in the already troubled economy and regional instability. His ambition wasn't worth that. If only Buhari had done the same some four years ago many lives would have been saved. |

RiffRaff: ... In other news Brenden Rodgers of Liverpool FC conceeded defeat to Arsene Wenger when he lost 4-1 to Arsenal FC at anfield... Let us give him a Nobel Prize.
I didn't run a red light in traffic yesterday.. I think i deserve a Nobel prize... Add a Grammy, Oscar, Emmy, Mtv Mama, Vma, Brit & a couple of other awards to that.
If everyone were to get a Nobel prize for simple act of common sense, then their will be nothin special about it cuz the whole world will have one. Oh well, from the way psychophants are going about trying to elevate mediocrity (GEJ), it seems common sense is a scarce resources in Nigeria. A Nobel for accepting to vacate a Public seat you were ELECTED & then VOTED OUT of cuz your administration was shambolic? Hahahaha.. Nigeria is a joke country with plenty comedians. A Nobel for a man who was dancin skelewu a day after 200 girls were kidnapped under his watch. A Nobel for a man who does not give a damn and says "Stealing is not corruption"
I am starting a petition to have it stopped.. I will make sure i dedicate everything i have to stop this fraud and celebration of mediocrity. Whatever reccomendation they get about GEJ should be thrown in the garbage where it belongs. GEJ does not even deserve a nomination, let alone actually winning one... Rubbish of the highest order! You need to meditate more on your username. |

Denn: This car is giving a lot of blue, red, yellow and white smoke.
I suspect issues with the MAF sensor and crankshaft position sensor.
The lower bushings also need detailed inspections.
The car is a Toyota and was not manufactured in Nigeria . I would implore you to check why the interior seat was changed from black to the present colour. Seems JFK was assasinated during its manufacture in the factory....( his head seems to be sticking out from the exhaust) lol! This has got to be the most sarcastic piece I've read in a while. |

Actually Toyota is about to kill the production of Venza.
Most buyers found it to somewhat overrated in terms of value for money. With the highlander in a similar price range most people just ignore the Venza.
Apparently Americans don't like wagons.

Paper weight opposition. Your view on the role of opposition is definitely based on APC's pull him down methods. The opposition works to shape the government for the better and in this case it has worked. The government was arm wrung into visiting those victims because of the wide spread condemnation. |

grandstar: America refused to assist Nigeria because of gross human rights violation by the army. This should not just be swept under the carpet as insensitivity by the Americans.
The outrage of over the impunity of the police by the callous murder of the head of the Boko Haram sect was the foundation of the present insurgency.
The military simply added fuel to it by the extermination of civilian men after hit and run or IED explosion by the terrorists.
Once a bomb goes off and a commander is killed, civilian men around the area are rounded up and kill them. What do you think the siblings and relations of these ones will do? Join the terrorists! While extrajudicial killings are bad your second paragraph is not entirely true. These people are terrorists who are willing to blow themselves up, they are not for justice as we interpret it but want to rob people of their fundamental rights to education and religion. Whether their leader was tried or not it would not have changed a thing. |
