FG's approved Amnesty Charter: The amnesty package proposed by northern elders and approved by the presidency is as follows: 1. A ministry of Northern affairs must be established like the Niger Delta Ministry. 2. Each Boko haram member who embraces the amnesty will receive an initial cash reward of 3 million naira to start up a business. 3. Boko haram members who embrace the amnesty program will be giving a house by the FG 4. Boko haram leaders who embraced the amnesty program will be giving a cash gift of 20 million naira each and other juicy packages will also follow 5. Selected boko haram members from each zone will be taken abroad for training, just as the Niger delta militants enjoyed. 6. Each boko haram member will be on a monthly salary of N100,000 for a period of 3 years. 7. FG must rebuild borno, yobe and other state they claimed the JTF destroyed. 8. Security contract will be given to Boko haram leaders to secure the north. 9. JTF will be completely withdrawn from the northern states, where boko haram operates. |
I culled this from an activists Facebook Page. I hope we will coment in a matured way. Thank you. "OPC got 2.4bn monthly contract yesterday, their own settlement. Niger Delta militants have been settled. Boko Haram leaders are now getting 20m each and a house while their members are on 3m and properties. It is now the turn of the east to be settled. Looks like that is the only way to get something good from this government of Jona and Yar'Adua. It is now a government of the militants." What do you guys think of this trend, "should we continue in sin so that Grace may abound?" |
Jenny and Jide, can you both, please, quit fighting on someone else' thread. What is really wrong with Women? Even in a faceless forum, you people still find a way to beef each other and carry malice for so long. |
jennykadry: I don't know the woman, I just don't think a woman should marry a man that is still married and on top of that, blame the first wife for her husband's misfortune. A fellow woman with five children? Ganging up with a man who deceived you to fight another woman whose sweat you are enjoying now.....Those who have never faced mis-fortune are the ones who are quick to tell the bereaved "I know how you feel". Jenny, I believe that your life has been well sheltered from a young age. Please try not to be judgemental of other people's woes. She realised that there is a problem (even with her grammatical errors), she came to NL too seek for help not condemnation. |
It is only a matter of time before another sect rears its head. GEJ, does not have what it takes fight corruption let alone terrorism. SMH for Nigeria. |
Op, If it were me, I will first get a good lawyer. Then I will help GTB make a free advert by taking this story to virtually all the social networks that I visit. The world is global village now, and am very sure that the Free Publicity I will give them will get the notice of someone at the top, who will see to the Resolution of this Gbese (for lack of a better word). |
Don't stigmatise people leaving with HIV/AIDS; your action towards them could help extend/terminate their life.
Mazi, I hardly comment when reading interesting stories on NL, actually I critique in my mind with writing anything. But I really do feel bad about what Chifawu did. Sometimes we think that we are in Love, but it is only in adversity that we really know what Love means. |

chaircover: From sister to sister, I am begging you to please find a good time soon and tell your husband about your investment before he finds out . . . thats assuming that he doesn't already know but just pretending that nothing is happening.Madam CC, thank you for this ohh. Bebe, you are feeling secured now, forgetting that your hubby may not have even thought of the angle you are thinking. But you may be unwittingly giving him ideas as to how you want him to relate with you. Sometimes, women are the architect of their own misfortune. You have sat down in your private corner and thought of all the things that can go wrong, but why not give Thanks to God for all the things that are Right presently. You are there fighting Unseen enemies (in the form of other women), but you may be forgetting that the seen friend(Hubby in this case) is worth far more of your love and loyalty than any strange woman. God forbid it, what if after all these plans for a secured Future, you wake up one day and see that all you have planned are just heap of rubbles (maybe house catch fire or one brother or even son wakes up and sell off your house?). My dear, plan for your future, but in all things Put your Trust in God and not men or wealth. |

Why do you always resort to Gutter language? Don't you have home training. Even if NL is a faceless forum does it warrant you to disgrace your parents, and make all their effort at training you look nought. Or were you raised up in the Gutter with other filthy beings. Even at that, you can choose not to remain in the Gutter, but I guess it is your choice. |
bebe2: [quote authorGood for you. It seems you all have it figured out. But don't forget that Sometimes the Best Laid Plans do go wrong. I will say, be honest with hubby and tell him you already acquired a property for yourself incase he "messes" up. Let's see bhow that goes. Beacause I know that if Hubby were hiding money or his investment from you and you come here to open a thread on that, all the women in the house will bare their fangs and abuse the living daylight out of anything tagged "Male". |
Please NL, everything does not have to degenerate to Tribal wars. Abeg, Biko, Ejo...... |
kingoflag: My friend shut up!My dear, tone it down. what is your beef with anything Igbo. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, if he says that Igbo men don't marry more than one wife that is his opinion. If you say that they marry a thousand wives or have a thousand concubines, that is your opinion. Please try to be civil when you disagree on anything that has to do with Igbo. |
bebe2: if it goes well it hus a plus 1 to our properties. this is for my own peace of mind. I WILL TELL HUBBY WEN I FEEL COMFORTABLE TO TELL HIM.My dear when will you ever feel COMFORTABLE TO TELL YOU HUSBAND ABOUT YOUR PRIVATE INVESTMENT? Double standard exists in the world of Marriage. If your husband hides his investment from you, you will call him a wicked man who has ulterior motives, but if you hide your private investment from Hubby, you are only protecting yourself from the UNSEEN. WOMEN ![]() ![]() |
kingoflag: Sure, whateva....when you ready you'll agree that it was an Igbo coup. Some of us have accepted this fact and have chosen to move on, stay there dey deceive yourself. They allowed them escape indeed. How? drinking tea with Michael Okpara or by Zik refusing to go back home even though every head of the Commonwealth countries were chilling in his country? Oh, oh, oh, I forget... escape like how Jaja Wachuku must have escaped even though soldiers surrounded his house and had a tete a tete with him on his front porch with his son in attendance while Akintola was mowed down in front of his family? Ah, ok, I get you now.Like I have always maintained you are entitled to hold on to your opinion. |
kingoflag: Whats this gotta do with the price of tea in China? Only the most evil hearted of people will justify what Igbo civilians were subjected to during the war, so, when will people like you accept the faults of the Igbo officers during the first coup and stop trying to justify it? Do you even understand why yall keep going round and round? You want DayoKanu and co to accept that the civilian casualties suffered horrible treatments and that their deaths was wrong but that the murder of all top non-Igbo politicians was right, proper and just.... bro, you go wait tire.please you can just click on my posts and read. I have never tried to justify the first coup, and I have said it a number of times, some of the actors of that coup bungled it by allowing top Igbo politicians to escape. That was actually what gave other tribes the right to call it an IGBO COUP. Moreover I cannot start arguing about intent here, because only the officers know what they were thinking. |
dayokanu: It wasnt an Ibo coup but the 2 non Ibo Premiers of the North and West were killed while the only 2 Ibo premiers were sparedDayo, I have simply refused to comment further on this first coup issue. Because the lines are blurred, and we can argue about intents from now till tomorrow and nothing will come out of it. But in our former arguement, you somehow justified the POGROMS AND THE GENOCIDE of the Igbo ethnic group based on this first coup. I still find it hard to believe that someone who has the capability to read this wide, will equally have the mindset of justifying evil, all in the name of winning an arguement. Dayo, even some of the actors of that ill fated war such Black Scorpion later regretted the role they played. |
T9ksy: I stand by my statement- ojukwu 419ed his people. Please, do you really believe that the whole Igbo race will be so foolish to be Justifying Ojukwu's action after so many years of Post civil war? Do you consider the Igbos Morons that they couldn't clearly see through Ojukwu's "rougish" intention, after all these years? Or, it will have to take your say so, for the Igbos to realise that Ojukwu pulled a fast one on them? Please quit crying more than the bereaved. If Ojukwu had really tricked the Igbos into loosing millions of lives in the ill fated civil war, it won't be you that will point it out to the Igbos. |
I was just coming back from somewhere now, and I saw a particular street (I stay in Aba) blockaded by a police van, I was wondering what was happening. But when I drove near to the place I found out that Moslems where having their prayer section. This and the tone of this thread got me thinking, if it where in the North that Christains where having their prayer sections would the mobile police be protecting them? Down here in the South, we treat our Moslem brothers with dignity. But up there in the North, the view us with so much Hatred. This is a food for thought. |
dayokanu: The answer to the bold is YES.Dayo, I remember that we both have argued this particular point on another thread. At the bold part of my post, you will notice that I am not sounding aggrieved about the July Counter coup that equally took Ironsi's life. I am talking about the subsequent killings that happened in the North after the July coup. I am talking particularly about the POGROM that took place. Dayo, I am not going to go into this arguement with you again. If deep down in you that you JUSTIFY THE POGROMS AND GENOCIDAL KILLINGS that took place before and during the war, then I don't know what else I can say. If you can boldly say that the North was right in CUTTING UP PREGNANT WOMEN AND BRINGING OUT THEIR UN-BORN BABIES TO CUT UP TO PIECES, then I don't have anything else to say or any point to argue about. |
debetmx: All what am saying is that, when Ifeajuna and d rest killed other people's leader your people were rejoicing, they kill ur pple u call it genocide. Like I wrote in my earlier post d ibos have "em selves 2 blame. Acknowledge that, then we can move from there and talk abt Gowon but we shld address ojuiku's intransigence first. If d ibos wanted seccession what about d efik, ijaw, kalabari, ibibio and d rest. Ojuiku arrogated all power, will decision and direction 2 himself. Am not on this thread 2 talk abt abiola or obasanjoI am sorry but I don't debate matters based on sentiments. You are very much entitled to your opinion. |
debetmx: Did I lie? The truth is now tribal slurs? The boys from d rising sun never cease 2 amaze me. They started d first coup, they killed other people's leaders, Zik ran 2 d carribeans, ironsi was not @ home when they came 2 arrest him and which party did he attend after maimalari's cocktail party?I need an answer. Ifeajuna and donatus okafor, after killing Tafawa Balewa ran 2 michael okpara (a man who they were supposed 2 kill after all ifeajuna kiiled his brigade commander, maimalari who had escaped frm okafor). Michael okpara told him 2 run away. The northerner did their own coup, the ibos people called it pogrom. Ojuiku invaded d mideast, massacred d midwest and looted d central bank, on their way 2 lagos, they call it liberation not realising that they were under ojuiku's bondage. The Federal troops go 2 biafra, they call it genocide. It seems d ibo bois play by different rules. Anam chi kwanumy dear, your likes have succefully derailed this thread. The topic was about Gowon writing a memoir, but you and your likes have dragged the issue from Aburi Accord being implemented 90% (which prompted me to post the whole transcript of the Aburi Accord), now you want us to go back and forth about the First Coup. Whenever a thread is started and it has anything to do with the Biafran war, your likes will jump into the fray and do all their best to derail the thread. If you must know, I (an Igbo man) equally believed that the execution of the first coup de 'etat was flawed. The initial plan by the Coupist was to carry out a total cleansing of the "Filthy" political landscape. But some of the actors of that ill fated coup bungled it. By allowing Azikiwe, Michael Opara and some others from the East to escape death, they inevitably gave a Ethnic coloration to the a coup. BUT DOES THAT WARRANT THE SUBSEQUENT KILLINGS THAT TOOK PLACE AFTER THE JULY COUNTER COUP? NO. Does that warrant Gowon not keeping to the Aburi Accord? No Does that make the Genocidal killings Right? No So when you want to argue History do so Objectively and not because of Tribal sentiment. I for one will not come here on NL and support what IBB did in 1993, (Annuling an election that was widely acknowlegded as free and fair) because a Yoruba man was involved. |
debetmx: Defending his people by running 2 Ivory Coast dressed like a wowan.God bless Hitler, he did d respectable thing while ibos take a hike. He was not d first ibo man anyway. We remember Ifeajuna after killing other people's leaders, ran 2 Michael Okpara b4 gun running poet Pius Okigbo took him 2 d seme border. My dear you can believe what you want. But am not here to entertain your tribal slurs. I deal with objective presentation of arguement and my question wasn't actually directed to you. Thank You. |
kingoflag: "HISTORY SHOWS THAT OJUKWU NEVER PLANNED OR WANTED WAR? GO READ WHAT WESTERN ANALYSTS HAVE SAID ABOUT THE PERIODS PRECEEDING THE WAR. but Ojukwu obviously tried to call Nigeria's bluff, thought hed made enough alliances and CERTAINLY WENT TO ABURI WITH EVERY INTENTION OF GOING TO WAR IF EVERYTHING HE WANTED WAS NOT GIVEN TO HIM .Ojukwu wanted to be a President within a country ruled over by another President ----how the hell is that possible? |
kingoflag: If you dont wish to join issues with me why are you doing so now? Whether Ojukwu or Gowon: I DO NOT CARE ABOUT EITHER so you can keep you adulation to yourself about who was "proud" or who "looked down on who. Im talking about what Ive read, and which Ive quoted severally on this forum at various times with links to boot. I have never disagreed with why Ojukwu went to war, so what the hell are you telling me that for? Maybe it is you that should be the one to take time to read the transcript again, re-read my post, comprehend it, stop being sentimental with your replies, and finally, grant yourself your own wish and try not to join issues with me.Please forgive my curiousity, I will like you to once again put up the link or title of the books that supports your initial assertion that OJUKWU WANTED WAR. Moreover you are still stating that Ojukwu went to war in this last post. History makes me to understand that Ojukwu was forced to defend his people against external agrression, how does that equate to going to War. Am only interested in reading the account of History that states that OJUKWU WANTED WAR as you initially asserted in the earlier post I quoted, for I am a student of History. |
I have never really given it a thought. But I now know that I have been spending heavily on calls. 500 to 700 daily. Sometimes more. But I think I will now be mindful of how I spend money on recharge cards. |
kingoflag: "History shows that Ojukwu never planned or wanted war" ?I will never wish to join issues with you or argue with you. But please take out time and read the transcript and please also quote the "western account of history" where it states that Ojukwu wanted war and that his ultimate aim was to be a President. I have had and read different account of the war, from Igbos and Yorubas alike. If you say Ojukwu was proud because he considered himself intelligent, I will agree. If you go on to say that Ojukwu felt that he can look down on Gowon because they are equal in rank , I will agree to that. But to say that Ojukwu WANTED WAR was a far cry from the truth. You can furnish me with the title of the book or the version of western history that suggests that Ojukwu wanted war. Even the West, especially Britain knew that what Ojukwu was fighting for is far better thanj anything they could ever wish for Nigeria. And unfortunately we are still struggling to attain Ojukwu's Ideal. |
This thread struck a chord. I have such a "married woman" friend. But there is something we guys don't understand, it is a very thin line between the frequent calls and the actuall intimacy (aka s,ex). In my case, the my married woman friend claims she really love her husband and can never cheat on him sexually/physically. But she wants me to visit her in school and maybe pass the night in her room. The problem is that I Don't Trust Myself not to do anything. Though I have tried to gap her, but I am always wondering what could make a man leave the emotional needs of his very se,xy young wife unattended. Married Men, abeg try and pay more attention to that woman that you have paid her bride price. You may not appreciate her, but some young hot dudes already be eying what you have got. A stitch in time saves nine. |
debetmx: I would never have declared seccession. I would rather have held out for a better deal for my people. Better still, i would have taken my case to the UN to conduct a plebiscite to determine if the easterners wanted to be administered in Nigeria or Biafra. Lastly he could declared seccession in the newly created southern central state which contained only ibos.I have said it else-where, even if Ojukwu did not make the Ahiara Declaration another Ranking Soldier would have, and Ojukwu may even have a mutiny on his hand. The situation that time warrants the East to go there seperate ways, since it was obvious that Nigeria did not accept them (even now, have the Igbos really been accepted in the so called one NIGERIA?) Ojukwu's hands were forced he did the best under the circumstance. Moreover why will the Nigerian Army still resort to the use of Force, if they really wanted the East back to the union called Nigeria. Gowon could have still called for another round of Dialogue when he found out that he has goofed. As the then Eastern governor, Ojukwu did the best he could given what was on ground. |
tomakint: Ojukwu was right afterall! May his soul continue to rest in peace! He clearly fought against a 'too powerful central government' at Aburi, many thought he was being too heady but we know better todayWhat the MEND & Niger Deltans have been fighting for all this while, was what Ojukwu forsaw. But Nigeria needed to "teach the Igbos a lesson, by wasting 3million lives". The question is, Why is the Niger Deltans agitating for resource control? Why have the rest of Nigerians suddenly woken up to the fact that the Northerner Elites have a BORN TO RULE MENTALITY? Why are we fighting for true Fedralism today? Why are the intellectuals clamouring for a SOVERIEGN NATIONAL CONFERENCE? Was Ojukwu actually Head strong in insisting on the Aburi Accord? Answer these questions objectively and you will know whether Gowon actually need to explain in a Memoir what actually went wrong. The same way Nigerian of my Generation has been waiting "in Vain" for IBB to explain what went wrong with June 12 1993 election. |
RIP, Mr Awolowo. Death comes to us all. |
Lt.-Col. Ojukwu: I will object completely to that last one. We started by agreeing that nobody can effectively command the entire Army. Any attempt to put somebody and say he commands the entire Army is 'eyewash' it does not work, not in the present circumstances. Therefore, we must accept that the Army would be Regionalised whether we like the name or not we all understand what we mean by that. I do not think what we need at the moment is Supreme Commander because Supreme Commander does involve commanding. I think what you need is a Commander-in- Chief who is just titular so that people will take orders from people, at least, they have confidence in. Whoever you put in Lagos, I say this, will not command the loyalty of the East if that person is not acceptable to the East, this is the fact of to-day. So many things have happened and we do no longer trust each other. Lt.-Col. Hassan: This is taking us back on the whole issue of Nigerian history.... Lt.-Col. Ojukwu: I said there should be a co-ordinating group to which each Region would send somebody but just for the facade of Nigeria there should be a titular Commander-in- Chief not a Supreme Commander which involves and which means somebody who commands over and above the various entities. Perhaps after we have created and generated certain confidence we could again have a Supreme Commander but it is not feasible to-day this is w hat I am saying. Lt.-Col. Hassan: With respect, to summarise the whole thing the Eastern Region will not recognise whoever is the Supreme Commander in the form of association we are now in and it means a repetition of the whole history of Nigeria when the politicians were there, to strive to put either a Northerner or an Easterner at the top. It must be an Easterner for the Easterners to believe or a Northerner for the Northerners to believe. To summarise, the Eastern people will not recognise anybody in Lagos unless he is an Easterner. Col. Adebayo: I do not think we should put it that way. Mr. T. Omo-Bare: I would like to make a statement. I would like to request with respect that we adjourn to private session and iron out this matter because there is a lot involved in it. We cannot sit here on this round table and divide Nigeria because the talks are moving towards Regionalisation of everything and I do not think it is safe and we are right to divide Nigeria up on this table. If we retire into private session we might be able to thrash it out there. We will be able to say everything in our minds and then come back with a Resolution. Lt.-Col. Gowon: If that is agreed we can retire then. THAT IS THE END OF THE TRANSCRIPT OF ABURI ACCORD |
