@ stabilizer, it depends on the grid voltage supplied by phcn in your area, if above 180v a 5kva stabilizer wud suffice, if below 140v you need a 10/15kva central stab.

The above applies for a 48v inverter.
If yours is 24v, a 5kva inverter would serve ok even at 150v grid supply

get a victron 5kw, if you have close to 1.5m to spend on inverter

get a deye 5kw/8kw, if you have close to 1m to spend.

get a phocos [german branded ]5.5kw inverter if you have about 700k to spend on inverter

get a generic china brand inverter - powmr/sorotec revo series/anern etc...if your budget is about 500k for inverter

for battery, I recommend a 10kw or 14kw 48v lithium battery pack, ranges from 1.3m to 3m..depending on type/model

Edit; the victron isnt a hybrid so you are going to factor extra 300k to 700k buying a standalone 80 to 100amps mppt charge controller.

The other inverters are hybrids, they have inbuilt charge controller

yeah, 1.5kw, not kva with inbuilt 80amps mppt charge controller, also lithium battery compatible, only issue be say you need minimum of 6 panels of voc over 41v to work well, as its a high voltage hybrid

then a 1kva inverter will work ok for you. the only wahala is that the average 1kva inverter has 15amps maximum charge current.

if your fridge is inverter fridge, then 1kva inverter will serve ok still, as it has very minimal or no surge.

Just something to share and perhaps, any further enlightenment on this...

Considering the concern on the gas emitted by Tubular batteries and due to my constraints on having to assemble my batteries within the flat, I had to use H2S gas tester to be sure if it triggers but it didn't even though the batteries are in an enclosed make-shift cabinet..

So to makeup for the heat up, I had to install a fan that serves as an extractor and I could tell, the temperature therein is pleasing...

Does anyone have any objection to the whole concept please...

gas emitted by the battery is majorly hydrgen gas....& sulphuric acid fumes..the tester you bought is h2s = hydrogen sulphide, so not sure if your tester has a wide range to catch hydrogen gas.
my flooded batteries are indoors in a wide long passage with a window...the gas generation is only significant during the 4hourly equalization period which happens every 4 to 6 weeks.. ensure that ur charge voltage is 14.7/14.8volts and then equalization voltage is 15v to 15.5volts. you would be fine.

what happens most times is some people set the charge voltage at 15v or higher..and so the battery is boiling most of the time..thus generating above than normal hydrogen gas and acidic fumes. charging significantly above c/10 amps also causes the battery to boil and temps to increase

Nope, electrolyte is water that has already been mixed with acid.----you should never add this to a flooded battery in use, as it will distort the acid-water balance, making the electrolyte too acidic.
And corrode the cells inside...leading to premature battery death.

You abused the inverter. You didn't interpret its data sheet well and you do not understand some things about electricity.
Learn about:
Surge or startup power: Freezer goes on and off at intervals, at startup is draws up to more than 5 times its rated power.
Power factor: a 1kw load may draw 1.2kva. Inverter is rated 3.5kw at power factor of 1
Temerature: derating: at higher temperature total power draw should be reduced.
Voltage deratinng: if you're connected to mains and its available, you should derate load below 170V. Mains supply in some places can go lower than 150V in Nigeria
As Niyi put it, HF inverter is more prone to damage than LF inverter but more efficient. My old retired HF inverter (cyberpower) does not do more than 2.5kw even though it's rated 3.5kva

I DEcided not to comment again on the sorotec inverter isssh, am not the owner of sorotec, neither am i a part owner, nor does sorotec pay my bills in anyway, so he is free to port to any other inverter model that gives him joy---though am certain most low end HF inverters would also fail if subjected to the loads he described. Sorotec unfortunately only has a 1yr waranty and due to difficulties in tracking claims, this waranty is tied to the date of manufacture on the body of the inverter.

growatt cost almost twice as much as sorotec\, and have an office in nigeria, but they footdrag and delay when it comes to waranty claims and repairs.
felicity also has an office in nigeria, and from what i have heard, have better waranty claims turn around period.

After switching off all load from inverter and no PV power is coming in( night), the fan does not stop working. ------ might be an issue unique to your particular device, or perhaps you didn't wait long enough perhaps up to 5mins, mine doesn't behave like this



Once you put a load like electric kettle, microwave or cooker of abt 1.2kw on it, the load in kilowatt can fluctuate from almost zero to 1.8kw.-------------yes, the load meter on most budget inverters are not very accurate


When you put 2 of those load on it, the inverter switches off. I guess overload due to fluctuation. I guess the inverter was over rated to 3.5kw------- what size and type of battery do you have to load 2 electric kettles on your setup? .. most invertes get more inefficient as you are loading it towards the max capacity, and this is worse on budget inverters. 2ndly it might even be your battery sagging and tripping the LVD, if you are using leadacid batts or the bms cutting off if you are using lifepo4 battery etc, did you observe your battery voltage b4 the inverter turns off?

Many other issues I can't even remember.

Maybe, Sorotec use to make them good. When I bought my, the Sorotec logo was poorly printed on the inverter casing. I had to send the picture of the inverter & logo on it to Sorotec & they confirmed the inverter was made by them. It only worked for abt 4 months & died. I had to replace it with Felicity. Atleast, if anything happens to it within warranty, Felicity will take responsibility & repair it. That can not be said of Sorotec

Post a picture of the particular Sorotec model, lets see. I am a fan of Sorotec and premature failure by unknown causes isnt among its known faults.

I went against your advice and decided to have the battery refilled by a battery charger since it was brand new & they said it was still okay.

Using the bms as primary lvd and hvd disconnect is wrong and may lead to present and future troubles.

Why not save up, get an inverter + lithium battery, you could add solar panels if you get less than 6hrs of NEPA/grid daily..

quite stressful, I know about 3 easy to moderate options.
1. buy a timer switch and put it inline with the inverter, you can then set it to turn off the inverter by 9am when the sun is up and turn off grid charging by 4pm

2. If you have home wireless internet, buy a tuya wifi breaker and put it inline with the inverter, this breaker has timer functions as well as weather related commands -- such as turn off 2hrs or 3hrs after sun rise or sundown, turn off/on when raining/cloudy...etc

3. Get a battery based SOC turn off/on, this device can turn off ya charging based on your battery state of charge. this is a DIY device not off the shelf

This shouldn't be an issue, if you are using a decent hybrid inverter with adequate solar panels, just set it on solar priority.
if you don't have solar, switching off the inverter so as to use the charged energy in the battery is not a good idea, reeks of ignorance, batteries are not 100% efficient, worse leadacid batteries, they have about average of 75% efficiency while lithium battery has about 95% efficiency. so if you take out 1kwh from leadacid, you would need theoretically about 1.3kwh to replace this energy and may get as high as 1.7kwh, if theprocess starts and stops before the battery is full. while an equivalent lithium battery may take about 1.15kwh .

I need help here please.
I use a Growatt SPF 5000 ES,
Connected to 16s DIY LFP cells
And 16s 200a ANT BMS

At first, I set my charging voltage to 3.6 X 16 = 57.6v, float voltage to 3.5 X 16 = 56.0v,
but after so much information gathering here and there, I settled for 56.0v as charging voltage and 55.2v as float voltage.

But irrespective of the times I made the changes above, I am always having problems with the BMS. Sometimes it charges to 90% and stops charging, other times 38%, 68%, but if I reset the BMS, it will continue charging and eventually reach 100%.

This is now beginning to happen on daily basis, but before I go ahead and change the BMS to JBD, I want to be sure what could wrong please? I have sold the system to a client after few months use and I am beginning to look like a bad man now, energy initiates come to my rescue abeg

GROWATT ES 5000 specifically wrote in their manual to set float and absorb at same value, if using lithium battery, and you don't have the OEM serial cable for bms, so you now use USER profile for charging. try that and observe, if it persists, then issue may be from daily bms. are u triply sure that ur bms leads and terminals are kosher

I have used 2 generations of oneplus and their camera usually trumps anything around, even samsung. Only google pixel and iphone were strong contenders, and since oneplus usually retails at a fraction of the cost of these high end devices, makes it even more interesting.
