Perekule the first was renamed pepple when the British presence became strong in the period of his reign. Ofcourse you want to bring out interview with THE BRITISH.

Opobo is Opubo hano (the chieftaincy house) he was appointed to rule.
The British renamed every godamn thing in the world...
Is there any historical record that says perekule was renamed pepple

Ekealterego:

Brother, this is not just a review, it was a special notice academically sponsored, Cambridge published and University of Swansea backed rejection of a fraud.

The book was about Bonny, which at that time became a tool for propaganda rather than true academic work.

Going through its one by one

1. University of Swansea and Cambridge University thought this was a roadside and hungry beer parlour historians that wrote the history about Bonny.

This is a very disappointing little book. On picking it up I thought that
Ibadan University Press had taken the enterprising step of publishing a history
of one of the most important Niger delta towns, written by a local historian who
had not been trained at a University.

2. Here, it states that Algoa falsified the original manuscript and history with his own fantasies.

I hoped and assumed that Dr Alagoa's
contribution would be restricted to scholarly annotation, and perhaps a separate
comment. But instead, Mr Fombo's manuscript, originally acquired by Professor
Anene in I963 and now in the Africana Collection of the University of Ibadan,
has been completely submerged by Dr Alagoa's new text.

3. Alagoa being a fraud again rewriting history and replacing academic history with his own falsification. A serious academic crime
What is worse is that
the new text is neither very scholarly nor very interesting. As the title suggests,
it is a chronicle, and a bare one. There is virtually no attempt at interpretation
at all, just a sequence of kings and events.

4. Alagoa failed to use references (Biggest academic sin) and decided not to use original history

The references which are made are mostly to secondary sources, and almost completely ignore the main source for
the Niger coast, F.O. 84 (Slave Trade).
There are no references given for the photographs, a characteristic regrettably common in Nigerian histories. Thus
this book does little but reveal the need for a proper history of Bonny, a worth-while project for which there is abundant material. In it, this chronicle will deserve a footnote. In the meantime, Ibadan University Press could consider giving us Mr Fombo's original text. Then perhaps they could follow it up with the work of other local historians such as E. N. Amaku of Calabar.

5. In case you don't understand, Alagoa was fraudulently replacing some key people, names and ethnicity with his own. That is what they meant by "bowdlerize".

But let us have the original script intact, before the scholars bowdlerize it out of recognition.

In summary, Bonny's history was fraudulently rewritten by Alagoa. What a shame! They called him a roadside historian while committing academic sin.

Lol. You’re fighting an uphill battle. My post history shows that I am both very much Igbo and a man (most names are unisex in Ngwa, if you don’t know). There is really no chance that you have here, and it’s amusing. You’re really giving yourself hypertension over this. It’s unfortunate how much you’ve indoctrinated yourself with your own ideals that you are spending countless hours lying to yourself and being angry with someone who isn’t angry with you (a.k.a me).

Years of “Igbo bu Igbo” and “Igbo bu otu” knee-jerk reaction has culminated into this sadness. All I really need to do is kpooru; di d’ele, because you’re doing this to yourself. Nwanne, free yourself from the shackles of your own self-indoctrination.

Alright. Let me come and finish addressing the rest of your post.

#1. While it is true that Ndoki villages have ancestral relations with other Igbo-speaking culture groups, the existence of Ijaw elements in Ndoki as well as historical relations with Ijaw cannot be denied. As a case in point, one of the Ndoki village groups has some Ijaw-derived place names. Even more so the name "Ndoki" is a name adopted from an Ijaw expression. However, you are correct. Ndoki are not Ijaw in diaspora.

#2. Opara Ndoli was neither a king nor a founder. Opara Ndoli was simply an Opara (eldest male member). As was the culture of the people, Ndoli, being an Opara, held sacred authority and served as a custodian of the community. It was his responsibility to interpret the communal laws, settle disputes and officiate any of the ceremonies, rights and rituals of the people. Currently, oral traditions state that Opara Ndoli never made it to the final destination. He died at the last sojourn. Actual kingship did not manifest in Bonny until the time of Asimini. It was during their interaction with the Portuguese that Asimini effectively became the first king of Bonny. Or, perhaps it is better stated that the shift towards monarchy began at this point, and Bonny's history as a kingdom starts here.

#3. I already covered that earlier.

Your item #4 is duplicated (you have two #4s). So I will simply answer as such:

#4.1 No problem here. The information is correct.

#4.2 Today's Ibani music is undoubtedly Ijaw. At the very least, Ibani music is dominated by Ijaw cultural themes, from the style of play to the instruments used. Bonny's current musical culture is heavily connected with the canoe house system that was introduced some time later in Bonny history. In fact, one might be able to say that the music culture is as a result of the canoe house system. However, details about the music culture prior to the introduction of the canoe house system are scant and not enough to develop an idea of what music was like in Bonny's earliest days. Nwutam was also introduced later in Bonny history. By the time it was introduced, in fact, the canoe house system was already firmly in place. Hence why the Ibani Nwutam performance is rather distinct, while in the Ngwa-Ndoki axis, Nwutam is just a masquerade. Owuogbo is not an Igbo festival. Its origin is Ijaw. The owu-named performances you see in Abia and Imo are as a result of cultural diffusion.

#5. Bonny and Opobo are both Ijaw-speaking and Igbo-speaking populations (Opobo leans more heavily toward the Igbo-speaking side).

#6. I already addressed that.

#5 (you repeated your numbering again) This is actually not a lie. It's a truthful statement. BUT... it does not do much to further your premise since Ibani is just as much connected to Igbo as it is to Ijaw.

How no one saw all this Red flags littered her back then Surprise me.

He didn't say so, your white man said so.

And by the way, the only reason ndoki even have some ties with Bonny was because Asimini married off his granddaughter Kambasa off to an ndoki man to Foster trade relations with the hinterlands, Kambasa didn't like that place, and once her father died she returned back to okolo-ama leaving her husband behind.
Your white man didn't even mention that because he didn't know how to communicate with the locals in the dialect so he just gather few facts to HURRIEDLY arrange a report or thesis.
If not for Kambasa marrying an ndoki man, the few IBO freemen wouldn't have been free.

Research Work in the Ibo Region from the Archive of the Colonial Offic in the U.K. (there are at least two of these.

Report on Ibo Language by Mr. N. W. Thomas, 1913 from the National Archives of Nigeria

In fact, there are many more that I can share, but this should keep you busy initially and help you expand your learning and understanding of Igbo culture, language, history and identity.

The history of "Igbo identity" is complex, but I will try to sum it up. For some people who have conversed with me here on NL, this may sound like a repeat (but I think it is worth repeating).

Igbo identity is the end product of two thing. 1) The effort Europeans put into classifying and grouping communities for the purpose of effective colonial administration. 2) The shared Biafran experience. #2 is more significant than #1, but #1 actually drew the initial boundaries.

Thanks to the efforts of colonial administration, British anthropologists and ethnographers, we got a categorical definition of what "Igbo" was. For example, it is because of their effort that (Naija politics notwithstanding) we can easily recognize an "Igbo group". It's not hard, and this is thanks to the categorical definition that they provided. By the 1920s, nationalism was starting to develop in Nigeria. We saw our first set of "Igbo Union" during this period. So at this time, it was clear that some people starting to accept the categorical definition to describe themselves.

The Biafran experience is when it really solidified. The categorical definition was finally transformed into an ethnic definition by the end of the war. Igbo people (categorical definition) provided this ethnic definition by themselves, and have continued to perpetuate it (in an often fanatical manner).

So there isn't a single "starting point". It's really just the culminating effect of various events in the past.
This is trash.
A total Bullcrap
