eastOFwest: I don't quite understand what you mean by expensive. Here is the registration body for social workers - https://www.basw.co.uk/membership/membership-types I've been told that you can apply for jobs in England with your Nigerian degree but you'll start at the bottom of the ladder at about £30k - £35k per annum as a permanent worker. England will be much easier than Scotland because there is way much demand in England and you might be interviewed by a Nigerian, other African or other black person. They will also require an extensive check on you - https://dbscheckonline.org.uk/faqs For you this will involve an international check too. |

Cousin9999: But you'll have to get them hooked first and you don't want to end up with a fat ugly depressed 60 year old woman. Green card is a US thing. |

Yinkasuccess: Ok, this is one of the professions where everything depends on your luck. Someone might be willing to take a chance on you straightaway or you might end up applying endlessly, or might not be able to move forward until you get a UK qualification. I'd advice you to seek out the UK Society of Engineers or a similar body and see if there is any category of membership open to you. Obviously you'll have to make sure you have all the details of projects you've worked on in Nigeria, and it'll help if they are easily verifiable. You can start applying from Nigeria. Forget what anybody says, everything depends on your luck and how much self believe you have in yourself. |

Cousin9999: Actually, if you are hot then you can actually catch a very hot babe from any race if your bed game is tight. If you're that way inclined, then I'll advice you to hit the gym before you come here. Eat lean meat and reduced carbs (complex). Get as built as you possibly can and it's the babes who'll be making moves at you irrespective of your accent etc. |

Mindlog: Most definitely. I'll confirm this but it appears that it might be your only option if you have your first degree from Nigeria. |

Goddys: Lol. It all depends on your game. Lots of lonely women in UK. Flattery and charm will get you everywhere. |

TheLasyBuddha: A lot (and I mean a lot) of Nigerians work in Social Work in England. They are constantly looking for people. Do you have a degree in Social work? Where is it from? I know that people with social work degrees from South Africa go straight into jobs |

Most British politicians cannot afford to buy these properties. Tony Blair can now afford to buy in these areas since he got very rich, but not when he was Prime Minister. Gold plated Bugatti sports cars is another facet of rich central London. But I need to keep this post within reason length wise. Here are a couple of pictures. They are mostly foreign number plate cars flown in from the Middle East by their owners for servicing every summer :

From Quora in 2018. Below is the answer I found to the above question from a Joe Hall who has lived in UK all his life. What should I know as a Nigerian before immigrating to the UK? - That you are black - That you will be labelled an “African” - That you may not get jobs you are qualified to do due to your ethnicity/colour - That your African name may be the reason you can't find work. - That your accent may be the reason you can't get a good job. - That there are lots of opportunities in the UK despite of the setbacks you may encounter. - That you may find a good job straight away. - That it is often easier for black people to find a job in the public sector than in the private sector. But there are no hard and fast rules. If you are a likable person they may give you a chance as the first black person they have hired. - That unemployed people can claim unemployment benefit indefinitely for years. - Most Nigerians live in London - That you will feel at home in London - 3 bedroom houses in the worst areas of London cost £300k to £450k to buy - Nigerians also live in the Thurrock area of Essex just outside London, where £450000 gets you a much nicer house than you can get in London. - You can live anywhere you like in London without bother from anybody if you have the money. - That Nigerians and other African school children in the UK do better than whites and Asians at school. - That of all the black nationalities living in the UK, only Jamaicans are more likely to find themselves in prison than Nigerians. - That you can get deported if you get yourself in trouble. - That the British courts have powers to strip drug dealers and other criminals of all their assets following a conviction, if the defendant is unable to explain how he lawfully aquired his fortune. - Some tradesmen in London earn £150k per annum. So if you are well educated but can't find a good job in your own field, if you are good with your hands don't dismiss the trades as beneath you. ( By trades I mean Carpenter, plumber, gas man, electrician, car mechanic etc ). A trades job will pay the mortgage. - Medicine and Nursing are the only professions in the UK where you are guaranteed to get a job if you are qualified. But for Medicine you need to pass a tough English language test before you can register to work as a doctor as a non-EU migrant. ( EU doctors who speak poor English are asked to sit the test as well, if their work collegues feel their poor English could put patients lives at risk. The test is compulsory for all non-EU doctors ). - The gem trade in the UK is not a regulated profession. So some African cleaners in the UK pay for their children's private school fees by dealing in diamonds. - Even if you are only doing a menial job in London, it is very important to buy a house or flat. There are millionaire cleaners, bus drivers and other low paid workers in London. They aquired that million or two buy buying a property on a mortgage that has grown in value to over a million pounds. - Robert Mugabe's mansion in Zimbabwe costs £7.5 million. But in London you won't get much for £7.5 million inspite of all the controversy about him. Here are some houses in London currently on sale for £7.5 million. Enjoy! 6 bedroom house for sale, £7.5 million, Marylebone, central London ( the one with the plants ) : 1 Share
