thereturnoflucy: Similoluwa on Fire: Sister of Ooni’s wife steals show with backside at royal event – Kabiyesi Olowa of Igbara Oke makes it rain on her
A trending video sighted by KikioTolu News has showed the moment Similoluwa, the sister of Olori Moronke Naomi Silekunola, wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was dancing to the music of popular Nigerian Fuji singer, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, at an event.
The Olori’s sister, who has her striking resemblance, joyfully moved her waist from side to side as other kings who were present at the event stylishly stole some looks.
NwaNimo1: A syndicate of Nigerian unemployment fraudsters has been busted by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies in the United States, court documents seen by Peoples Gazette said.
The suspects, identified in court filings as Quazeem Owolabi Adeyinka, Ayodeji Jonathan Sangode and Olamide Yusuf Bakare, were broken up last week, with authorities saying they stole over $2.6 million in bogus unemployment insurance claims.
The suspected Internet crooks used an address in Hyattsville, Maryland, to rake in about $1.4 million in unemployment benefits from California, Arizona, Maryland and North Carolina. At least $1.2 million of the theft was received from California’s Employment Development Department alone, according to court records seen by The Gazette.
They filed about 200 unemployment claims with California’s EDD using a single address on 75th Avenue in Hyattsville, and the department was deceived into approving 97 of the claims, according to a complaint filed by John C. Collins, a special agent with the U.S. Department of Labor. Mr Collins said the ring was jointly investigated by the FBI, Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General and state law enforcement authorities.
“Based on the size of the apartment, the investigation has concluded that a high number of UI applications associated with this address is unreasonable, and thus an indicator of fraudulent activity. “(Bank of America) records show that 142 UI claim profiles using the 75th Avenue apartment address issued a total of 175 prepaid cards from the states of Arizona, California, Maryland, and North Carolina,” Mr Collins said in the complaint filed in California.
There were several attempts to claim bogus unemployment insurance using the same address from Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Texas, Washington and West Virginia, court records say.
The suspects filed claims that they had lost jobs as an accountant, dance therapist, computer consultant, librarian or other occupations, and used untraceable IP addresses, the complaint said.
Federal authorities said they observed that international scammers and con artists were taking advantage of the high volume of COVID-19 cheques being sent out to cushion the effect of the pandemic amongst Americans.
It was not immediately clear whether or not the suspects had contacted their lawyers. The development marked the latest in an increasing spate of arrests being made by U.S. authorities over fictitious unemployment claims and other fraudulent activities linked to Nigerians.
In May, the FBI held Bidemi Rufai, an appointee of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State while trying to fly to Nigeria out of New York. He has since been remanded in prison.
In July last year, Ramon Abbas, widely known as Hushpuppi, was arrested in Dubai and extradited to the U.S. to answer years of Internet fraud activities targeted at Americans. He has also remained in custody.
In 2019, Nigerian businessmen Obinwanne Okeke of Invictus Group and Allen Onyema of Air Peace Limited were indicted on charges of multimillion-dollar fraud. Mr Okeke has since been convicted and sentenced to prison; while Mr Onyema’s case has been pending before a federal court in Atlanta, Georgia.

Golden147: Good afternoon everyone.. Please I'm kindly in need of advice... ignore my typing ERROR.. There's this girl I love and I want to settle down with her. She's still in school while I'm still in school too. She's 22 while I'm 24 nd also in final YR and we both love each other..my mum has supported me to marry her. I proposed to her and she said yes...I plan going her house next month next to start official martial rites but I'm afraid. Here is my reasons
She's the only girl and the last daughter in a family of 5boys. Ever since we started dating, she's in 100l then, all her school burdens are on me..I take care of her and mine own...with this people around who knows about our RELATIONSHIP ask me to marry her to avoid story that touches the heart..which he has accepted , her mum nd dad have accepted it too. My major concern about this girl is that those his brothers are not willing to do anything, istead the came asking me for small small money when I'm back, knowing fully I'm just dating thier sis....most times the my girl always feel ashamed of her brothers nd keep cursing them. The can't even call her on phone unless she calls them...nd the will keep asking why she didn't call them all this while knowing fully thier sister is in school nd not working.
I have thought about this over and over again, how do I marry from a family that can't even assist in anything...I know marriage is not always Rosy, what if something happens tomorrow nd I needed thier financial support..the can't render to me. I discussed with my mum nd she told me I'm marrying thier sister who is well trained nd not the brother..that I can decide not to give them money again... But I'm very sad over this It's only the father and mum that acknowledge I hay been trying to see their sister through school expenses, including food and wears. I discussed with my woman, she started crying, saying she knows her brothers are such a disgrace, telling me how she may commite sucide if I didn't marry her... She cried that she can't visits her house again... that her only hope will be to start prostitution which she can't see herself do that nd that's why she is going to commite sucide if I eventually leave her, all her social media handle is full with my picture, including her profile pictures.
Please what advice do you have for me.... should I let go of this girl, I don't mind letting go all I have already spent...I just want to make sure I won't regret the marriage tomorrow...I have already discussed with my mom nd we plan on going her house officially by August ending..but I'm still very worried.
Yea. Cos you are yet to enlighten me, nd whoever cares to know, why you think it's noise.
Well, it appears that Niger Deltans are happy for any exploitative arrangement so long as it does not benefit Igbos. All hell will have been let loose if Igbos were to be involved. However as it stands now, Niger Deltans appear to be happy with the status quo, especially where they are positioning themselves to be the 3rd power block in Nigeria, behind Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba. Niger Delta is mostly unbothered.
Veqtor: Tompolo is an overfed dog that's become lackadaisical with his duties.
Peacekeeping my foot... peacekeeping that comes from ghana-must-go bags, while the Niger-deltans are still being ripped off by the north.
The Pib thing isn't something to be quiet about.
They giving oil producing communities a meagre 3%, while North is taking 30% for "searching for oil in the Arid north". As if that's not enough, they added a clause to make some northern states oil-producing, simply because pipelines pass through them... meaning, they'd still partake in the 3% Pib allocation. Is this not cheating of the highest order? And tompolo will take peanuts and keep quiet, just like most of the south south leaders. Na juju be that.
If he can no longer do the needful, someone, whose blood is hotter, should probably take over.
Nairaland is doing well, it is a pro masses forum that reflects the state of the average Nigeria cut out from various tribes
So discussion, debate would continue to flow as life goes on.
Some would tell you it is not what they used to know, actually this is the reflection of society itself nothing artificial here because of the anonymous nature.
Buhari has patterned a style of tribalism and nepotism as the way forward for this country, you might see this reflecting on the views and instincts of the commenters on this forum because it's president is leading the nation in that direction
Another president may come tomorrow bring good policies, treat everyone equally, the views about Nigerians might also change in that direction
Summary
Nairaland would continue to exist for ages because it is a platform to discuss life, policies, seek knowledge, etc
It is basically a reflection to society
I don't think the op referring to the views espoused here.
Anyway, I'm sure Seun is a young man and the forum will continue also long as he's alive. Nigerian businesses typically suffer from legacy issues. Once the founder dies, things go South for various reasons. The heirs only seem to be surviving on assests. Look at Abiola, Ojukwu, Odutola, Okotie Eboh, Akwiwu etc. The only one that seems to Buck that trend is Rabiu. His son appears to have taken the business further than his father.
Furthermore, social media platforms like this tend to last as long as its format is still relevant. Look at what happened to Hotmail messenger, Yahoo chat, bbm etc. Anybody here old enough to remember Nigeria.com form 1999/2000?
What is dysfunctional Owerri people? Some of you that call yourselves Igbos should be ashamed of yourselves!
Maybe you should calm down and read again. I said "some dysfunctional". This does not imply all Owerri people a dysfunctional. Same way saying "some loud" Lagos people does not imply that all lagos people are loud.
A lof people don't know that Nigerian Army and police used to have some of the tightest bands in Nigeria, signed to major labels, playing Highlife, Funk, Afrobeat, Juju and Soul
MansoryMX: How do we deal with this issue now! Because it is obvious and the hand writing written boldly on the wall.
Buhari better sit in power forever because the moment he vacates that throne, all Fulani should follow him back to Kastina State or else face mass killings.
I think that's what his idea is. I can't, for the life of me, see how Buhari will leave that seat in 2023
Next time don't compare Anambra with Ikwerre you can say Onitsha vs Ikwerre or Nnewi vs Ikwerre, or Nsukka vs Ikwerre, or Anioma vs Ikwerre, Anambra is a state, Ikwerre is just another Igbo sub group get that fact first
selemempe: I just saw this picture of Wike and Obi Cubana and it got me thinking again of what could have been if Ikwere didn't start denying their Igbo identity.
I'm from Enugu but we all in igboland know and appreciate how successful Anambra business men and women are. People like Arthur Eze, Innosson, Ibeto, and younger monies like Obi Cubana, Emoney, Jowizaza etc remind us all how far Anambra has come since 1970 when they got 20 pounds like the rest of Igbos.
Also, With oil money which Rivers state commands and with political power in Rivers state firmly in the hands of the Igbo subgroups, the Ikwere could have been in competition of wealth with the Anambra and imo state elite. Igbo society weddings and burials could have been taking place every weekend in port Harcourt if they were integrated with the rest of Igbo nation The swag of being Igbo would have placed Ikwere and the Igbos of Rivers state in the national limelight like it does for the Anambra group.
Port Harcourt could have been the Lagos of Igbos because of the port and oil....and Lagos would not have the high number of Igbos it has today.
What Igbos lost in 1970 still gives me pains. Ikwere officially left the Igbo ethnic nationality in 1979 and took with them some other Igbo groups carved into Rivers. They all are now playing creek, isolated politics and living that creek, isolated culture and only identify as Igbos when it suits them individually.
I know Ikwerre people very well. Their ways, culture and lifestyle is very alien to Igbos. Even other tribes from other states know the Ikwerre and their notoriety. The closest you get to Ikwerre in Igboland are some dysfunctional Owerri people living in the city centre. Let me just leave it like this.
