I persisted on upwork from july to sept before i got an offer. Infact i changed my tactics to looking for job they needed a Nigerian and got an offer in a week, after that job and got a 5 star review i kept getting nice jobs. I get Amazon offers so easily now cos most jobs i now get are on their platforms.

Am looking at taking that experience to fiverr.

You know it only makes sense when one has a backup plan and an alternative source of jobs too...
I guess I'll just keep trying and trying.

The bolded was copied directly from your first statement. And that was what elicited my response. Your postulation doesn't hold true for all.

I understand that you might be trying to help people but you should also be realistic. Let's face it, fiverr said videos help buyers to understand the services you render. They didn't say videos help rank your gigs.

The Cisco report you were quoting was comparing text and video content. Yes, video contents rank better on Google but on fiverr, nobody can beat their chest and say, "I know how this works". So, don't raise people's hopes with information that is not factual.

I'm not an authority on Fiverr matters. In fact I joined in June. If j emphasis on videos, then that's my perspective. It's the same perspective applicable to Upwork and other freelancing sites. It's just my perspective. If you say videos doesn't make any difference, then that's your perspective. In fact if you say keywords and a good gig description don't make any difference. It's still your perspective.
But as a new user of a platform, I'd rather advise people tick all the boxes and stand a better chance.
Thats my perspective and it's working for me. As very new as I am now in Fiverr , I'm rarely without orders on queue and I know how much I've made.
So I'm merely sharing my perspective not trying to "sell my gig"

You should have just said you are looking for people to patronize your video production services.

Since I created this account I am using now, I have never sent a proposal on buyer request page, neither did I buy review. It's been more than 2 years and all my gigs are on the front page of my niche. Not just the front page, but the first two lines. You know what? I don't have a gig video. So, don't mislead people because you want to sell your service.

Really? Wow... I don't know what to say to you, really.
But let me just tell you.
1. Your niche might require more of pictures than videos , range of which is very few. You can be doing "Storyboarding" "voiceover" "product promotion" "infographics" etc without a gig Video
2. You're comparing yourself to people who are just joining now that the competition has even gotten hotter and the internet generally now embraces more video contents than text (check Cisco report )
3. Even Fiverr advises users to have a gig video to increase their visibility chances and now you're wiser than Fiverr
4. Even if I'm promoting my video services, is it a sin to promote your offering? I've paid several people to do certain things for me, even from this post because I know it's importance.
5. Why do you think I intend creating videos for new Fiverriens from here when I gave 5 orders in queue that I'm battling to meet up with.
6. If you're not willing to assist people without collecting money, don't assume everybody is like you.

If you're on Fiverr and you don't have a gig video, you're simply wasting your time. My gig video got me more clients than me responding to buyer requests. And a gig video increases your visibility on Fiverr by over 200% which you need especially if you just joined.

Exactly oo. Imagine begging for account to be approved then I will start sending proposals when my gig is on Fiverr front-page for months. I even reject orders on Fiverr. I wonder how they cope on upwork

I even paid someone to get my account approved on Upwork o...and now nothing is happening. I'm using a Nigerian account though. Maybe that's where the problem is coming from.

Persistence is the secret of success in every endeavor.
Upwork and Fiverr both rock. I earn on both platforms.
Upwork provides you connects for 30 proposals monthly. So with 20 proposals you are only scratching the surface.
The proposals you have sent are still active and could still get you a client when you least expect.
My Guide :
1. Stay online regularly. Check your Upwork email (morning, afternoon & night) as it is easier to notice new notification there than in your messages section on Upwork platform
2. I have discovered that short Proposals tend to win more clients. Clients are busy people, if you know what I mean.
3. There are bad Clients, just as there are stupid Freelancers. Read client reviews and try to bid on Clients with above 4.5 rating with "Payment verified".
4. This is very Important. It sinks my heart seeing people bidding on clients who have already received over 10 bids. Come on; you really think a client will leave his business to read over 10 proposals while also chatting with 1 or 2 selected Freelancers?
5. God will crown your efforts in His own time
6. Keep learning and updating your skills. You are in a technology-driven business. Every second, what you know is changing and that is why there are lots of clients looking for solution on Upwork and Fiverr.
7. I will stop on this last point for now. Your niche should be market driven. What is the market demanding? Websites & Mobile App development is in much demand and that also drives an ever growing demand for SEO optimization and content provision.

I was even wondering if probably my proposals are invisible ni o or people just don't bother you read them simply because I'm new.

How do you got your funds from payoneer? Can you withdraw with your card? In naira or dollars? Dont fiverr do direct deposit? Like upwork i withdraw directly to my naija account within 10mins alert done ring.

Why is fiverr not doing same?

I did all I could to get my Upwork profile approved, I invested time in building my profile, took several tests and passed and I've sent 20 proposals already without as much as "Hey, what did you say you're selling again"
And my Fiverr is blooming. But I want to divest really.

I have always felt this too...I keep wishing I could fall. At a point I was wondering if maybe it was because I had no demon. Besides, if I decide to do it free, you won't value it. Worst still is 24hrs a day won't be enough for me to finish creating account for people that wants d freebie. So something's are better left for people who can make that sacrifice

This makes a lot of sense though. Nigerians on the other hand also like taking things for granted and before you know it Upwork will like others blacklist Nigeria. As I always say, if you see the need in something you won't be reluctant to part ways with money for it. I won't advocate doing for everybody for free too as the guy sef won't be able to handle the requests.
Helping is there but sometimes not everything good comes free and easy.

The person that created this thread didn't charge money from anyone. But you will see one guy charging fellow struggling youth money for simple favors. As if the 10k they want to collect can even feed them for three days.

The person that showed me the ropes on Fiverr didn't collect a dime. Despite the fact that we operate in the same niche, he still gives me updates and tips on how to improve my gigs. He even ordered from me and left a fantastic review. The appreciation I have for him supersedes cash and I'll surely repay him soon.
We rise by lifting others. Poverty has blinded our eyes in Nigeria and we think by charging for every little gesture we do, we're gonna get rich. No. You can't be rich physically when you're poor in mentality
