PDP Primary Election: Why I Stepped Down For Atiku Abubakar - Tambuwal (Video)

Sokoto state governor and presidential aspirant during the People's Democratic Party (PDP) primary election, Aminu Tambuwal has stated why he stepped down for Atiku Abubakar during the presidential primary election that was held on Saturday, IGBERETV reports.

Tambuwal's stepping down made it possible for Atiku Abubakar to win the PDP Presidential ticket against Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike who came second in the election.

According to Tambuwal, after considering the demographic aspect of Nigeria's elections he had to step down in order to ensure that PDP wins Nigeria's 2023 Presidential election.

Tambuwal said this during a meeting with PDP leaders.

"Tambuwal: For PDP, I have a question. And all of us here are PDP. Are we looking for zoning or winning?

Tambuwal: No, I didn't hear you

Tambuwal: We want to win the election?

Audience: Yes

Tambuwal: Now, with due respect, what I am going to say, I don't mean any offence.

I see my leader, Olisa Metuh coming. I am going to use your state as a reference point (he points at Metuh). And with due respect, the people of the Plateau, I will use your state as another reference point (he points at the audience).

We had an election in Anambra State. The governor of Anambra State won the election 112,000 votes. The person next to him - the PDP candidate secured about 53,000 votes. The third - the APC candidate had 24,000 votes. The fourth - YPP candidate had about 20,000 votes. Put together, in that state election (governorship), we had about 220,000 votes in between four political parties.

Jos Bassa Federal Constituency, Plateau State, where PDP won, the PDP candidate had about 40,000 votes. PRP had 37,000 votes, then APC had 26,000 votes. If you add this, it is close to 100,000 votes (Federal Constituency Election).

So, demography is an issue. That was why after the election, I appealed to PDP to look at these elections and be studying elections and bye-elections as to progress towards 2023.

APC took their ticket to Katsina in 2015 where the last president of PDP, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua died in office in 2010. Five years later, APC, out of strategic thinking , with Bola Tinubu and the rest of them. I was part of it. We said we are looking for how to win. We must get power before we share it. And deliberately, we took APC ticket to Katsina and gave it to Muhammadu Buhari. Yes, Atiku Abubakar contested, Musa Yar'Adua contested, Sam, Rochas Okorocha. But we all knew where we were going. Because we were determined to win.

And let me tell you, had APC given that ticket to somebody from South. In particular, South-South , we couldn't have won.

Go and check the election result of 2007. In 2003, President Buhari had 11 million votes but in 2007, he had 7 million votes against Yar'Adua because they are from the same Katsina. And he couldn't win him (Yar'Adua).

Now, this is for PDP. In the South as at today, PDP is in 8 government houses. APC is also in 8 government houses, leaving 1, that is Anambra.

In the North, APC is in 14 government houses. PDP is in 5 government houses. And they have the President.

I have given you this analysis, so that together as leaders of our party who are working towards winning election. Not zoning, not winning ticket. Yes, you can share ticket because you can tear it and everybody can take his piece and go to his zone. But you must plan to win election. That is the reality of it. It is not anybody's making."

2023: Atiku Dances Victoriously After Winning PDP Presidential Primary Election (Photos, Video)

Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal has said that the insecurity in South-East is being fuelled by President Muhammadu Buhari's exclusion of the people of the zone, IGBERETV reports.

Tambuwal said this while meeting with delegates from Imo State chapter of the PDP on his presidential aspiration.

The Governor who promised to quench insecurity in the region by incorporating them into his administration if elected, added that people from the zone feel cheated because Buhari left them out in the scheme of things.

He said;

“Buhari has shortchanged the South-East. I was the one who advised Saraki to choose Ike Enweremadu to become his deputy in 2015. There is a complete case of exclusion of the people of South East. The head of the ten most important parastatals are not from South-East, including the CBN governor.

“None of the service chiefs is from the South-East. The president, the vice president, the Senate president, the deputy senate president, the speaker of the House of Representatives and his deputy is from the South-East. Under my watch that can’t happen. Every part of this country will be carried along.

“South-East and Imo State in particular can’t be excluded. The PDP will win back Imo when I become president. Igbo people are industrial. You will find a partner in me. We are working together with our brothers in Sokoto. We have restored normalcy now in Sokoto State. I will be a president for all Nigerians.”

Anambra State governor, Professor Charles Soludo has said that he inherited a “red treasury and pervasive insecurity” from his predecessor, Willie Obiano, IGBERETV reports.

Soludo said this while speaking on Thursday May 19 during his presentation of the N170 billion revised 2022 budget proposal to the Anambra House of Assembly. The Governor said his administration would take steps to overcome the “humongous” challenges confronting it.

Soludo said;

“We have seriously started reforming our system of tax administration to significantly ramp up our internally generated revenue over the coming years. In the meantime, the dire needs of Ndi Anambra and our transformation agenda cannot wait.

“We are working on a mixture of financing options including debt that is ring-fenced to fund bankable projects and/or infrastructure with impacts on the economy to guarantee efficient and effective service delivery to our people while ensuring fiscal sustainability over the medium to longer terms.”

The Governor also disclosed that his administration would partner with international developmental organisations, the private sector as well as the federal government to achieve some of the projects of his administration.

Soludo added;

“We are reforming our processes and ramping up our active engagements to maximize the benefits of such partnerships.

“For example, we have budgeted to meet our counterpart funding requirements to access federal and development partner funds.”

On insecurity, he said;

“We have chosen to confront the foundational issue of security head-on and expected that those profiting from the lucrative criminal enterprise would viciously fight back, and they have.

“Criminals taking the seven local governments of the (Anambra) South Senatorial Zone hostage were the most acute. They are testing our will and resolve. (But) let me assure you this: Anambra will win.”

A video of a Police officer in Lagos state who claims to be a man of God, asking for a bribe and also speaking in tongues, has gone viral, IGBERETV reports.

A caged lion was displayed at the burial of popular businessman, Timothy Anyiakaudu Egwuh of Ebe village, Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Saturday, IGBERETV reports.

Former governor of Lagos State and APC presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu, has stated that no nation can experience rapid development without steady electricity, IGBERETV reports.

He made the statement recently while speaking to youths at a rally held to support his presidential ambition at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

He criticized president Muhammadu Buhari for tagging Nigerian youths 'lazy' after failing to provide steady electricity to Nigerians.

A Congolese prophet has married four women, all virgins, in a colorful wedding in eastern Congo, IGBERETV reports.

Prophet Zagabe Chiluza reportedly married the first wife before marrying the four, claiming that he adopted the idea of polygamy from the Bible, using Jacob, who had four wives, as an example.

According to AfriMax English, the man of God always shares scriptures from the Holy Book to prove polygamy isn’t a sin. “I have one wife already and today I’m going to marry these four. They will join the first wife,” he said on his wedding day.

He claimed the idea of marrying more wives originated from the Bible.

“Jacob had many wives Leah and Rachel, then Bilha and Zilpa…four wives for one man,” he said. Zagabe said he got saved in 1986, and during the wedding, while addressing the guests, he said; “I’m glad to have five wives.”

The man of God encouraged others to practice polygamy, saying men from his church marry only virgins. According to online sources, Zagabe Chiluza’s four wives were all virgins when he recently got married to them at his church in eastern Congo.

A video which captured moment a suspected yahoo boy (internet fraudster) stole panties from a building in a residential area has been shared online, IGBERETV reports.

The unidentified suspected yahoo boy, entered a waiting car after carrying out the act and sped off.

Khafilat Kareem, better known as Khafi, is facing a misconduct hearing for going for the Big Brother Naija reality show in 2019 without being authorised by the Met police to do so, IgbereTV reports.

Khafi, who worked as a police officer in the UK at the time she took part in the reality show, said during a misconduct tribunal that she appeared on the show to "promote the Met Police globally".

The misconduct tribunal heard that hours before going on the show, PC Khafilat Kareem called one of the Met's most senior officers asking him to reverse an order for her not to do so.

She was eventually evicted from the show after 77 days.

The Met said she went on the programme "without authority".

At the hearing at the Empress Building in west London on Monday, April 25, PC Kareem, who is now married to Gedoni whom she met on the show, admitted she took and surrendered her laptop to the BBNaija organisers.

But she denied allegations of breaching standards in respect of "orders and instructions" and "discreditable conduct".

PC Kareem also denied an allegation she failed to declare a business interest in relation to publicity and promotion of the TV show.

Khafi took unpaid leave in 2019 to appear on the show as she saw it as "as a chance to promote the Met on an international basis", the panel was told.

However, line managers felt it was not within the best interests of the officer or the force.

Anne Studd QC, for the Met Police, told the tribunal: "Having seen the UK episodes of the show, concerns were raised.

"But, PC Kareem said Naija was not like the UK version. She saw it as a chance to promote the Met on an international basis.

"Looking at the website and information provided, Ch Supt Jason Gwillim concluded it was not in the best interests of the Met or the officer and it would put her in a compromising situation.

"He explained the rationale and stressed she was not to take part in the show.

"Gwillim's impression was that PC Kareem was disappointed but understood. She took the period of unpaid leave."

Although permission for the leave was granted, she was told not to take part in any further auditions, interviews or shows, the hearing was told.

On 30 June, PC Kareem texted Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist and later called him to say that she had travelled to Lagos to take part in the show.

Mr Twist told the tribunal in west London that he had "never been faced with these circumstances before" and felt it was "most unusual" a PC was contacting someone of his rank on a weekend.

He explained he was aware of previous decisions to refuse PC Kareem's request to go on the TV show and said he wasn't in a position to review any decision on a Sunday.

Mr Twist said: "I got the impression she was phoning hoping I would change the decision.

"I got the fact she was in Nigeria I got the strong sense she was going to do it, but she did not say as much."

Mr Twist said his core concerns were over PC Kareem's mental health, the Met's public image and her conduct within the house.

He said: "I was worried about her mental health, we have no ability to support or intervene in the Big Brother house.

"We had no idea what security was in place around the Big Brother house and something awful could happen there or she could be targeted as a serving constable.

"Over the years a number of people who come out of the Big Brother house are reported in the media to have suffered mental health issues.

"Knowing the UK version, this is something we wouldn't want a serving officer appearing on."

PC Khafi Kareem saw a psychologist after the show due to the "adverse" media attention, the tribunal heard.

The tribunal heard she was invited to appear on Good Morning Britain - but was told not to do any unauthorised media interviews according to the BBC.

Senior pastor and founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has appealed to women in abusive marriages to leave while they are still alive, IGBERETV reports.

He made the appeal during a church service held shortly after the death of gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, whose husband, Peter Nwachukwu, has been accused of physically abusing her in their marriage. Man Arrested While Fleeing With Two Children Abducted From A Church In Ogun (Photo)

A middle-aged man, Sakiru Famuyiwa, was on Friday, April 15th, arrested at Ijeja area of Abeokuta by men of the Ogun state police command for stealing two children during a church service, IgbereTV reports.

The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by policemen at Ibara divisional headquarters that, while Good Friday service was going on at celestial church of Christ Ijeja, the suspect and one other who is now at large, sneaked into the children department and stole two children who are two and three years old.

On their way out with the stolen children, a vigilant member of the church sighted them and raised an alarm, consequence upon which the congregants pursued them and apprehended one of them.

Upon the distress call, the DPO Ibara division, CSP Nasirudeen Oyedele, quickly moblised his men and moved to the scene where the suspect was rescued from angry mob who were about to lynch him.

The state police public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed this to newsmen, said the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to anti kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation. He also ordered that the accomplice must be hunted for and brought to book.
