austino100: Obviously, i hit a nerve. I stated facts. I didn't abuse you. You are in no position to advise him. Unless you have made the kind of money he made or you are a money manager, you have no idea how to maintain/invest such amounts. Keep your advice to yourself. Better yet, use your own advice and become a billionaire if it is that easy. With regards your statement about "comprehension and joining this forum before i was born"..... Firstly, how old is Nairaland? The same ignorance that made you think you can advice a stranger about how to spend his money is the same one that has failed you. You do not know my age so what makes you think i am as young as you think? When you were buying your 1996 Honda Accord, did people "poorer" than you tell you not to buy it? Did they tell you to invest it and continue "flagging danfo bus upandan"........Hopefully you'll get the sarcasm but i believe my point is clear. 1 Like |

Travel / Re: Is There An Order From US Authorities To Deny Nigerians Visas? by EbolaParasite: 1:19pm On Aug 04, 2018 |
tonylaw07: I feel your pain but lets be real, this may hurt but its the truth. You were denied because the officer saw reasons that indicate you may abscond. The elderly woman you mentioned was probably denied because of several reasons too. It could be her previous travel history showed she was spending 6 months or more indicating she may not return to Nigeria this time or maybe all her children are in the US and she has no ties to Nigeria anymore. The Naval officer you mentioned too could have his faults. A manager in one of the oil companies was denied recently and everyone was saying its because of US policy. Meanwhile, this man had his family in Maryland and they had overstayed. When he got denied, all he told people was that they are denying everyone even though he knew why he was denied. There are genuine cases that also get rejected but that has been the case since several decades ago. If you guys really think they are denying everyone anyhow, please go to the airport everyday and see how FULL DELTA flights to Atlanta are......I also know a lot of people that recently got visas. Your answers to the questions asked probably made no difference. Things like ties to Nigeria, marital status, age, who you work for, travel history bear a lot of weight. 5 Likes 1 Share |

madjune: Identity crisis? Self hate? The issue here is about wizkid but you seem so hard pressed to condemn the Nigerian diet. Mr Nutritionist, if 80% of the Nigerian diet is fatty, then 99% of the American diet that you are preaching is also fatty. America currently has an Obesity crisis and you have the audacity to use America has an example. You are so ashamed of your self, you choose to condemn your own people. Wake up and stop worshipping those that don't give a crap about you. Now back to the topic. Like i said before, there is a difference between good health and malnutrition or drug abuse. Wizkid looks ill. This has nothing to do with diet. He is obviously on drugs and most people know this. 1 Like |

Lyoncrescent: The person is trying to tell you that your information is stored on a secured server. Meaning it is slightly harder for hackers to steal that information from their servers. It doesn't mean they can't though. What he failed to tell you, and where he is wrong is with the http issue. Even though their server is secure, if you use an http connection to send information to their server, the information that YOU send over that http connection to their server is not encrypted. What this means is that if you have a computer that has been compromised either with trojans, viruses etc and you decided to enter your username and password on the http connection, that information can be intercepted while you are sending it over. IF it is https, it is encrypted and makes it harder to steal. So https is still very important although it doesn't guarantee anything. If a keylogger is installed on your computer, http or https, everything you typed on the site can be stolen. With regards to those saying Nairaland is now secure, this is incorrect. It is YOUR CONNECTION to Nairaland that is secure so that when you enter usernames and passwords, it is encrypted. As far as your information stored on Nairaland server, unless Seun comes and tells you about the security in place, you have no either if it is secure or not. |

bigtt76: You are wrong. The law states that if you graduate before 30. As long as you got your undergraduate degree before the age of 30, you HAVE to serve if you intend to work in Nigeria. If you graduated from a foreign university at 22. Even if you come back to Nigeria at the age of 55, the law requires you to participate in the NYSC because you obtained your degree before 30 years of age. It is not your current age when seeking employment but your age at graduation that exempts you. 7 Likes 1 Share |

aribisala0: Care to mention the biggest investment made recently in the industry? Capital investment has been down significantly the last 4 years. Yes , oil price has something to do with it as well. How many rigs are currently operating in Nigeria drilling for oil? I mentioned my background so you know where im coming from. You keep refuting my statements with no evidence to show its wrong. Politics / Re: President Trump Laughing Behind Buhari As PMB Signs Papers: Caption Photo by EbolaParasite: 1:15pm On May 01, 2018 |
aribisala0: I meant your response. Read my post again. I already stated they have operations in Nigeria. Are you aware that crude exports from Nigeria to the US were completely stopped a few years ago? They only recently started exporting minimal amounts again. The US is producing record amounts of crude and they have astronomical reserves. That is what i mean by they do not need our oil anymore. Sure Exxon and Chevron bring in Tax revenue from their operations in Nigeria but it is insignificant when you compare it to tax revenue from other sources. Exxon and Chevron are private companies. Even though the US will always support American companies, the point is that their presence in Nigeria is no longer a big deal. Companies have stopped investing in the oil sector. Do you know how much Shell for instance has divested? My guy, shakara is over. They have other options. Gone are the days when Niger Delta threats will significantly affect oil price. |
Politics / Re: President Trump Laughing Behind Buhari As PMB Signs Papers: Caption Photo by EbolaParasite: 12:47pm On May 01, 2018 |
aribisala0: Insignificant. They already have operations in Nigeria, Yes. The point is that Nigerian oil is no longer crucial to the U.S. Not even just the U.S, as a whole, we can no longer do shakara because there are ABUNDANT alternatives all over. There are discoveries being made everywhere else. Niger, Chad, Senegal, Ghana, etc Not to mention the astronomical reserves in the Permian Basin and the rest of the shale plays in the US. The shakara is over. Those days are GONE. |
