If you're planning to attend CCNA training and are thinking of paying an Institute then hold on on that thought.
For CCNA, you really wouldn't have to pay to pass it. You can self study online and can watch videos on CCNA online. Tons of them on youtube.
If you have a good and reliable internet connection, then please join us. Trust me, you never know until you try.

I find dis useful. I am not IT savvy, actually studied Cooperative Econs & presently work as a call center agent. Recently, i av bin thinkin of ways to chart a career path as i dnt really see my present job as a career.

I av bin in talks wit some on training i can do to chart a career. I met wit som1 in an IT firm who suggested i do CISCO & have bin considering making payment until i come across dis thread.

The person i met is d Manager of HiiT Plc (IT Solution firm, providing trainings in cisco & sometin he called compat A+ not sure if i got right & other stuff) in Ibadan located close to my office wit branches in Abuja i am sure.

He suggest i do cisco to fit into Telecoms though i couldn't get clue on d specific positions to fit in.

I check on one of d IT guys in my office to make in-depth inquiry but i was unable to meet him. I will ensure i see him.

Mikky is right? You need to have a chat with the guys in the system and find out which skills are in demand and which company requires them.

I remember after my Masters in UK, i was looking for a job and could not find one and i knew lots of people were getting IT jobs without IT degrees.I had a chat with one of the guys and he explained to me which skills were in high demand. I figured out lots of companies were using Microsoft servers and active directory was in use a lot.I went for my Server training,did the exam and tailored my CV towards a Microsoft server role. I got a job 8 weeks later and i progressed from there since i was in the system. Now i am not saying thats is how it's going to be in Nigeria.All i am saying is you will have a better chance if you have IT skills that are transferable.

do you have friends that work in telecoms? can you do some research, using your present telco you are serving with as a call centre assistant, and then write on a sheet of paper the various job roles/positions that you think you can fit in in a telco company?

when you do that, then you can streamline on what you need to do to qualify. The main thing is "Getting in first"...

Sir, I must confess dat u guys are molding me & I am beginning to see how to do things differently. I will meet one d IT guys in my office today.

Being a Call Center Agent. I really nid to drop d headset where you talk & work like a robot & being micromanage. You might be shown d way out 4 not meeting certain KPI's. I don't think dats wat i will like to do in the future. Doesn't seem like a career. Hence, the nid to chart a career path.

It depends on the certification that you are doing. you need to ensure that the skill is high in demand in Nigeria.There are many certifications out there which i feel is not in high demand in Nigeria. for example, i don't think a lot of companies are using System center in their organisation in Nigeria (i might be wrong) so doing a cert on that might still not help in securing another job(IMHO).

I don't know how it works in Nigeria but you need to try and figure out which one is in demand. i know lots of Nigerians were doing cisco a lot back in 2006-2009 but i can't say if that is still in high demand than some other Microsoft certifications.

I av bin on a cross-road wit regards to dis same issue. I spent my little NYSC allawee on some courses & till date, I am yet to see how relevant those certificates are to me despite having them on my CV.

Recently, i want go for another certification because of d bad labor market. But i pause & think if dats wat i really nid, though i present work as a call center agent.

I am thinkin of either stayin on my present job & garner enough experience or continue searchin 4 jobs which may not be related to my present experience.

Ensure your basic computer skills especially excel is top notch, and keep praying for opportunities. Update your LinkedIn profile if you have one.If you don't have one, open an account immediately. Try your hands on project management courses or business analysis. If you have an aptitude for tech, try to learn Oracle SQL.

Thank you, sir!!! I will improve on d Excel skill. I already have a LinkedIn profile. I have a project management certificate though I am yet feel it impact since I completed d program & have it on my CV (did it with International Project Management Professionals-IPMP during my service year & it bears Certified Project Manager).
I can't really say i have aptitude for tech. I actually have problem with calculations & it seems d Oracle SQL you mentioned will b full of formulas.

God's willing d response & mentorship i would get from here today will mark d end of paying national & international CV Writers my hard earned money & still not getting interviews.

Bro, i have CV's dat are acclaimed to b d best, edit my skills to match job specifications & apply on time but still hardly get interviews.

I have realise dat only God factor & connection from high places can give one job.
