We had absolutely no game plan or whatsoever. What is the point of taking over aged players if you're going to get embarrassed?? USA should've scored more sef. Our attack is just plain blunt. I expect nothing from these guys against Ukraine. |
Danielnino00:I am well aware of that. So why use the likes of Gomez, Matip and Robertson as examples then? |
andrew444:Bros it'll take at least a decade of constant breathtaking improvement for us to be in the conversation. |
Please God no...Rochas is the last Igbo man I want to be president. We have people like Moghalu, Soludo, NOI, etc not this comedian. |
andrew444:Yeah of course. |
BascoVanVeli:Klopp's go to formation is 4-3-3. Samu will be signed to play on the wings. Klopp also viewed Coutinho as a wide player. I remember reading somewhere he laughed when he heard Barca was paying 100m for Coutinho because he wouldn't fit in a 4-3-3 and couldn't replace iniesta in a 4-4-2. Epl would be good for him from a financial angle. I'd prefer Liverpool to Barca sha because I know how crazy barca fans can get. Here's the article I was talking about Report suggests Jurgen Klopp was amazed that Barcelona were willing to offer €100 million for Coutinho JACK O'TOOLE El Pais journalist Diego Torres has reported that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was 'amazed' and 'broke into hilarity' when he first heard that Barcelona were going to offer €100 million for former midfielder Philippe Coutinho. Torres, who wrote The Special One: The Dark Side of Jose Mourinho, has been covering PSG forward Neymar extensively this season but he has now shifted his attention towards his international teammate Coutinho and his January move from Liverpool to Barcelona. Torres suggests that Coutinho was never fit enough to operate under Klopp's pressing system of football and that leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah was brought in to compete with the Brazilian while Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino were deemed 'undroppable'. Torres wrote: "When the club raised the possibility of signing Mohammed Salah, the coach told the management that he thought it was fine but that the position should be played with Coutinho. Never with Mané or Firmino, whom he judged unquestionable. "In Liverpool offices were not surprised to see that the leaders embraced as if they had won a title when on 6 January closed the transfer of Coutinho to Barca for 160 million euros, a record after Neymar and Mbappé. Never the sale of the third most expensive soccer player in history meant less sacrifice and more benefit for a major club. [b]"Explosive and decisive in short spaces, Coutinho lacked the heart and lungs to perform consistently in the great spaces of the midfield. In the physical tests that simulated situations of the game, after two sprints of 60 meters Coutinho could not recover without remaining half a minute completely stopped. Too much, given the tactical demands. With the emphasis on permanent dynamism, Klopp discarded Coutinho to integrate the midfield in 4-3-3. Even when he placed it as an end, he found that it disengaged in the folds. During several days he tried a 4-2-3-1 to place him behind the point, with a smaller radius of action to avoid suffering. If he played as a second point he could stay off the hook without generating serious imbalances, while the rest of the team was ordered 20 meters back. But the 4-2-3-1, in Klopp's opinion, did not allow the team to occupy the spaces in the most efficient way possible. "Barça's first offer for Coutinho amounted to 60 million euros, about a year ago. Klopp's reaction was perplexing. He thought that Barcelona had the three attack squares covered with Messi, Suarez and Neymar. "When they told him that [Josep] Bartomeu would sign [Ousmane] Dembelé to replace Neymar and offer more than 100 million for Coutinho to act as relay for [Andres] Iniesta, his amazement broke into hilarity. According to an employee of the English club, Klopp was blunt: "Coutinho is a fabulous forward but he will never feel comfortable in 4-3-3 as an inside; and much less if he has to play in the post of Iniesta in the 4-4-2 that [Ernesto] Valverde practices in the defensive phase, where the longer runs should be done by the wings. Iniesta is a long distance runner. Coutinho no. "[/b] When Coutinho eventually sealed his £142 million move to Barcelona, Klopp said that the club did everything within their means to convince the player that remaining part of Liverpool was as attractive as moving to Spain. He told Liverpoolfc.com: “It is with great reluctance that we – as a team and club – prepare to say farewell to a good friend, a wonderful person and a fantastic player in Philippe Coutinho. “It is no secret that Philippe has wanted this move to happen since July, when Barcelona first made their interest known. “Philippe was insistent with me, the owners and even his teammates this was a move he was desperate to make happen. “Despite that, we managed to keep the player here beyond the summer window, hoping that we would be able to persuade him to stay and be part of what we are looking to do. “I can tell the Liverpool supporters that we, as a club, have done everything within our means to convince Philippe that remaining part of LFC was as attractive as moving to Spain, but he is 100 per cent certain his future – and that of his family – belongs at Barcelona. It is his dream and I am now convinced there is nothing left at our disposal to change his mind. “Philippe has made a fantastic contribution to this club over his five years of service and as disappointed as we are he doesn’t want to extend that, the relationship we have for him means with a heavy heart we wish him well. “The player remained dedicated and committed to helping us win matches, producing good performances and training hard each day at Melwood after the summer window had closed, despite failing to convince us to allow him to leave during that period and that level of professionalism reflects positively on him. “Of course, it is totally understandable that supporters will be disappointed; this is always the case when you have to say goodbye to someone special. But, as hard as it is sometimes to accept, it is part of life and part of football – individuals have their own dreams and their own goals and objectives in life. “Players will come and players will go, that is football, but as a club we are big enough and strong enough to continue with our aggressive progression on the pitch, even when we lose an important player. We have never been in a better position in recent times, as a club, to react in the right way. We will use our size and strength to absorb moments like this and still move forward. “I have been here long enough now to know in the history of Liverpool, key players have left before – but the club always goes on. You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it. “I have so much belief in the talent we have here already and even more faith, together with our owners, that we will make continued investment into the playing squad, which will allow more growth and more improvement. “So as we bid farewell to Philippe, we continue on our path of progress and development as we work towards our common goal of bringing trophies back to Anfield.” |
andrew444:Liverpool are now much bigger than they were when these guys joined them i.e Coutinho. Samu is obviously better than Seyi Ojo at the moment. |
andrew444:Yeah but Ox mostly plays as a CM na |
alekside:I get your point. Klopp will need to rotate but it's a big ask. I'm personally surprising Shaqiri played as little as he did. Those guys fitness levels are crazy!! |
Wijnaldum and Mane were at a higher level than Samu is at the moment when they moved to Liverpool(more experienced as well). Wijnaldum scored 11 league goals as a CM at Newcastle in his first season before moving to Liverpool. This also came after being captain of PSV and scoring 14 league goals from midfield too. Mane was chased by Manure and Arsenal before he signed for Liverpool. Infact Van Gaal made him his top target that season and did everything in his power to get him. Samu is super talented with massive massive potential. However, people should remember he'll be up against Mane and Salah if he signs for Liverpool. All these examples of Gomez, Matip and Robertson makes no sense at all. The caliber of competition they faced is child play compared to what Samu will. Truth is if Samu moves to Liverpool he won't become a regular until one of Salah or Mane leaves. Expecting a Robertson and Gomez like breakthrough is a bit crazy. |
alekside:Who were they competing with?? Samu will be competing for a place against Salah and Mane but who incase you've forgotten finished joint top scorers in the league. It's easy to bring up these names but the level of competition they faced is not anywhere close to what Samu would If he moved to Liverpool atm. |
cc12:Very balanced as well in terms of player profile... |
andrew444:Nah. I think he would do well as a striker. |
andrew444:He has improved naaa. I don't like his behavior too but the guy can play for Liverpool. Besides we all know he won't do that under Klopp |
andrew444:Memphis is good. I think he'll make a good striker too. His versatility is what Klopp might like. |
PetroDollax:This was translated from a Dutch site. Story can't be found now but thank God for Cybereagles. Mystery Ghanaian juggles with birth dates Dominic Adiyiah: teens or twenties? By: Michiel Schoo Published: Today 02:13 Update: Today 03:27 The new striker of AC Milan called Dominic Adiyiah. Only nineteen of the Ghanaian competitor Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Or not? About the actual birth of Dominic Adiyiah nothing is known. In Ghana, no official public records kept. His passport was based on birth certificates in his country on almost every street corner, as they wish, can be completed. Since no one can rely on. These four dates of birth Adiyiah that are to be found. 1. Birth of a professional In 2004 delivers the Feyenoord Academy Football Academy in Ghana the first generation of players off. The 17 - and 18-year-old boys need a place to go after the soccer development. Salgado Feyenoord in the first division gives them that opportunity. In order to run the team well, the young school-Feyenoord slowly mixed with the adult players. Dominic Adiyah, as his name is currently being written, is such a mature player. Adiyah is not trained at Feyenoord, as he claims. He trained at Babies Corners, a club in Kumasi where Feyenoord have them working. In 2002 Ghana News Agency describes how Dominic makes the winning hit for the highest youth team Corners Babies against the eighteen year olds from Hearts of Oak. If Feyenoord (Salgado is the name deleted) in the Premiership in 2004 to receive her PhD, Dominic begins to name. Contemporary accounts are to be found on the Internet. If his current age is correct, he would then have 14 years. More real is that he is 21. For a 14-year-old in the Premiership is not even in Ghana. 2. Birth in Europe After the season 2006/2007, he was elected most valuable player. Dominic leaves the same month to Kpando Hearts of Lions. In that season he is second with thirteen goals in the score list. In August 2008 he comes to the big time where many African footballers dream of: the professional contract in Europe. The Ghanaian press reports that the 22-year Adiyah for Fredrikstad FK in Norway leaves. If his age right now, national media were there when the next lot. And while the news came of his own agent. 3. Birth on Internet In September 2008, for the first time a Wikipedia article on Dominic Adiyiah put online. Striking is the extra "i" in his surname. The career of Adiyiah argues along the same clubs as where Adiyah played. In Ghana, the spelling of a name is not as important as this. Thus the name of the former Ghanaian President Kufour by Ghanaian media also frequently written as Kuffour. And former Feyenoord player Gyan in Ghana is also known as Djan. For Dominic is convenient that he now has a new name, because nothing is known about Adiyiah. Adiyiah online encyclopedia, according to the first born in 1985. Less than two weeks later, the article is adapted. Dominic was suddenly born in 1989. That remains its official birth. 4. Birth of a topper To the surprise of many dives Adiyiah in 2009 in Ghana squad for the under-20 players, five years after his debut in the Premiership. During the World Cup in Egypt Dominic plays a fantastic tournament. He is top scorer and voted best player. Not long afterwards he deserves a transfer to AC Milan, reportedly for more than one million euros. When nineteen he awaits a great future, they think in Italy. But in reality Dominic Adiye (i) ah all his summit. How much better he is and how long his career lasts, nobody knows. But a youth player of nineteen, he is certainly not. Some of your fellow countrymen agree as well. https://www.goal.com/en-gh/news/4375/comment/2013/04/22/3922897/the-goal-lounge-age-cheating-why-is-africa-a-major-culprit Age cheating in Ghana is almost as bad as that of Nigeria. |
Starboytwo:What about the legitimate 19 year olds that has had his opportunity usurped by a 26 year old?? You think that's fair abi? This is how folks will defend Yahoo boys because "country is hard" yet not realizing that those guys are making it even harder for legit young men to do anything. Nigerians is the problem of Nigeria. Bad leaders did not fall from heaven. They came from the masses. The masses can make a change but we all know the average naija folk is all talk. How else can you have a president like Buhari for 8 years?? |
Humility017:I'm telling you. That squad is beyond crazy!! |
khiaa:This one na tales by moonlight. You believe this story? |
chrisooblog:When Sepp Blatter was against it saying it would affect the flow of the game (which is what is beautiful about Football) people criticized him. I'm starting to think he was right. |
Earthquake3:People don't understand. We are an arrogant set of people with low standards when you think about it. |
I think from a Google search back in 2007. I was looking for another Nigerian forum (Cybereagles and Kickoff was my ish back then). I opened an account years later after high school. Back then - it was highly respected. Foreigners always said the smartest naija folks were on here. |
There's a difference with a hungry young person with a confirmed old man pretending to be young. All this "player looks old because of sufferhead" no follow. Until we start being honest with ourselves and keep harassing NFF(like has been the case over the last few weeks) 2050 will come and we'll still be talking about the same issue on the same scale. |
minfelix:The Ghanaians had their own age cheats on that squad. Adiyiah himself was one. |
zoboizee:They should be progressing in combating the issue of age cheating in our U20 team. The fact that nothing has changed since the 80s is disgraceful. |
forgiveness:You mean with Rodgers?? Puel got sacked. It'll be cool if he stays for one more season at Leicester. I have a good feeling about this their squad (provided they keep the likes of Tielemans and Maddison). |
elyte89:It'll change soon. I just hope Rohr will play Mikel as a DLP so Ndidi can buzz around. Think we'll get the best out of him that way |
forgiveness:No doubt. That's why I was just looking at folks that were criticizing Puel. Puel tried to make him improve his allround game hence why he was played as a b2b destroyer. |
forgiveness:Dude is a monster I tell you. We're blessed to have him! |
Yahoo boys apologists about to storm these threads. They are just as bad as armed robbers, corrupt politicians, etc. You can deceive yourself trying to justify their nonsense but it won't work. 250k is too small. Some of the victims of these clowns actually die. |
