tbaba1234: Taribo burning top players for pace
Even in his prime, he did not do that.
A football game lasts for 90 mins not 10 secs.. A 35 year old football player would normally not have the legs to sprint continuously in a match. Didn't the president of Partizan Belgrade say Taribo was 40 instead of the 28 when he played for them but he didn't mind because he performed very well? |

charlesemeka85: Southampton move for Spezia striker David Okereke.
The Daily Mail says Southampton are set to make an approach for €15m striker Okereke.
The Saints will pull the trigger on a move for the Spezia striker.
The 21-year-old Nigerian bagged 10 Serie B goals and has also been linked with West Ham and Crystal Palace among other European clubs. I think he was a back up option to the other guy they were chasing |

TheGoodJoe: I have asked this question before. Can't Etebo play on the left midfield? Sometimes, you do not need to make personnel changes to make tactical switches. During the game, move Etebo to the left wing, move Mikel to a deep lying role and move Iwobi to 10. Said the same thing as well. The lineup that started would've scored before Ighalo and Musa came on. Player roles was where Rohr got it wrong. |

komekn: Tega is too old he hit 22 in April so he is ready and willing to play for the SE.
In my opinion he is better than Eze although he needs an uninterrupted full season of competitive first team football. Either in the EPL or the Championship. Onomah is still eligible but competition is crazy. The likes of Foden, Maddison, etc are all ahead of him at the moment. Now would be the perfect time to get him. |

Rockyrascal: i watched their qualifying games and since then I had it in mind they will be the under dogs in this tournament...the host must win against Dr Congo hence Egypt should be wary of them. I tell you. I'm just praying we can avoid then somehow at the knockout stages. |

kushercain: I agree with your points, I still feel our team needs atleast one more creative midfielder. Someone that has the eye for key passes because our front line is already good at making runs it's even like they're on speed Agreed. I think that should be the area Rohr works on after AFCON. |

kushercain: Exactly. I don't see why he put in Chukwueze in the middle when he should have subbed of Simon. At least Mikel has midfield presence and would stabilize the midfield. Rorh got that change wrong, hope he's taking notes sha. Simon may not have been fancy, but he brings workrate to the right wing. He was always going to play 90 mins. Samu was brought on and moved to the middle mainly so we could hit them on the break. I'm surprised Rohr was brave enough to play him there as I've said it's one of the reasons why dropping Nacho wasn't a bad idea. Mikel would've stabilized the midfield true but we were defending deep anyway so Leon could just float the ball long for Onachu to knock down to Samu or out wide to Musa. |

EPL was poor as at the time Celestine Babayaro joined. It was below the pecking order. 7th for that matter. What position was Ligue un when Taye Taiwo joined?? |

TheGoodJoe: Sad the 4-3-3 was not looked into back then to a large extent. I remember calling for it or asking for Okocha to be moved to a more offensive role while Oruma creates. But tactical ideas for most national teams then was so limited, so we did not get to enjoy Oruma in the national colours enough. Yep. From the few times I watched him - I felt he might have done a job as a CM. His workrate seemed decent enough and his passing was good. Imagine if he was converted like Pirlo was... |

komekn: Oruma's quality never truly appreciated in the SE, top player.
One of his best games for me was against Ghana in the AFCON he was outstanding.
The never ending rivalry on and off the pitch did not help his career in the SE, in my opinion. If only he came after Okocha or we somehow played a 4-3-3... |

TheGoodJoe: I think Rohr’s conservative stance is hindering the progress of the team when it comes to developing our lethal nature upfront. If he was more adventurous, he should have started Osimhen ahead of Onuachu with Musa/Onyekuru with Iwobi in the middle and had a good go at the Burundi team from day one. Just like we saw Aina yesterday and Ebuehi in the Argentine game, Rohr has a habit of putting his foot on the brakes in his selection.
We can not know how good Osimhen is if he does not give him a quality chance. Glad Ighalo is back and I hope we take a good lead early in the game for him to give Osimhen a nod. I believe he we will be impressed with Osimhen if given a nod. He offers more movement upfront and will give the midfield and wingers better passing options. Musa was Ill remember?? Ighalo also wasn't fully fit. Rohr stuck to his word and started the fittest players. |

Earthquake3: If you need to build up then you need Balogun and Mikel in the midfield
Otherwise it's like asking Ekong and Omeruo(non ball players) to do a very difficult task Agreed. That's why I think it'll be difficult to bench Mikel. I noticed Etebo was playing in front of our CBs. He doesn't have the passing range to play that role. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by edi287: 8:38am On Jun 23, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe: I wonder if he even watched the game. If he did, he would not even ask because those passes from Musa were awful. However I would excuse Musa because he was not playing with his natural foot. He was repeatedly forced to use the outside of his right foot. His first cross wasn't that bad. Someone with better movement would've gotten to the end of it(Samu and Iwobi were the ones in the box). Musa at the moment is ahead of Onyekuru. I love Onyekuru but Musa has been pretty consistent since the world cup. |

Joebie: Comot sentiments. Etebo had a good game. It wasn't Mikel's day It will difficult to bench that guy. I would've liked him outwide but we have my boy Samu there. You can't afford to leave out a player that possesses his stamina and workrate. |
