Biafra Isn’t Only About South East – IPOB Lists 6 States That Will Join ‘New Republic’ The Movement for the Actialization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) yesterday faulted President Muhammadu Buhari for recognising only the South-East geo-political zone as states canvasing Biafra’s independence. While the group said it was a good omen in the first instance for the President to acknowledge that Biafra had become a household name in the east, they disagreed that Delta, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Edo, Bayelsa and Cross- River were missing out. The groups said the Federal Government goofed by forgetting that the five eastern states, namely, Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi, were neatly knitted with their neighbouring South South zone in the old Eastern region. The newly appointed MASSOB leader in Delta state, Chinedu Amaifeobu supported by the Zonal Commander of Security, Ignatius Adili-Ajana, in Asaba yesterday said the South East and the South- South states were abinitio tied by the same umbilical cord. According to him, the two geo-political zones were bonded by the same cultural, spiritual, moral and religious heritage, hence, the government of Nigeria would not hound them out of Biafra. He said: “We urge our South-South brothers and sisters not to be deluded by the divide and rule antics of the Nigerian government but remember the sons and daughters of whom they are.” http://www.newshelm.com/2016/11/biafra-isnt-only-about-south-east-ipob.html cc lalasticlala |

At about 2am on Sunday, November 6, 21-year-old Solomon Odekunle was seen stumbling out of a popular hangout, Piper’s Bar and Grill, in Ottawa, Canada, with blood gushing out of his neck. Eyewitnesses interviewed by the police said few steps away, he collapsed on Coventry Road. He was later pronounced dead in the hospital. Solomon was stabbed by a man, who has been identified as 27-year-old Joe Ndikuriyo. According to Ottawa’s CBC News, he is the 17th victim of homicide in Ottawa this year. Reports indicates that Ndikuriyo is a Burundian national. Even though the police in Ottawa have said they were still piecing together the timeline of events that led to the victim’s death, reports suggest he was stabbed during a fight between Ndikuriyo and another individual over a woman. The victim, whose father is a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Lagos according to residents of their neighbourhood in Fagba, Lagos, was admitted to the University of Ottawa in 2012 to study Economics. When Punch visited his parents’ house at Rotimi Williams Estate, Fagba, on Thursday, a domestic employee explained that Solomon’s father had travelled while the inconsolable mother had relocated temporarily from the house. It was learnt that the father had flown out to Canada after learning of the tragic murder of his son. http://www.newshelm.com/2016/11/photo-redeemed-church-pastors-son.html cc lalasticlala

Jigawa State Government has disclosed that some teachers said to have gone for in-service courses in universities across the world, have graduated but has since refused to report to their place of work. The action of those teachers compelled the government to further suspend indefinitely in-service training courses and set up special committee to find those involved and other teachers receiving salaries without coming to work, Vanguard reports. The government was furious that the teachers betrayed its trust by remaining abroad when their expertise was needed back home. Lamenting the development, the Head of Service, Mohammed Inuwa Tahir, told journalists yesterday that some workers spent 14 to 15 years studying. He said: “What kind of degree course does a worker spend 15 years studying and still collecting salaries. “Our government will not condone laziness and unfair act by some workers who have the habit of completing their study and refusing to report back to their place of work.” The officials said the screening committee was established to fish out absentees and ghost workers, contrary to some insinuations that it was set up to witch-hunt workers. http://www.newshelm.com/2016/10/teachers-sent-abroad-for-training-have.html
