Pay deduction scam rocks Nigeria police Adelani Adepegba Some police officers at the Finance Department of the Nigeria Police Force have been arrested for tampering with the payment vouchers for police officers and illegally deducting monies from the salaries and allowances of police personnel. The pay officers from seven state commands were alleged to have tampered with the official amount approved for each cadre of the police personnel, which reportedly stalled the payment of the new salary structure for the rank and file. The development came just as the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, and 14 other seniors officers were re- deployed from the Force Headquarters to state commands and departments. Ojukwu, an assistant commissioner of police, was transferred to Imo State as officer in- charge of the State Criminal Investigations Department on Monday. The redeployment affected eight deputy commissioners, three assistant commissioners and four chief superintendents of Police, in the first major shake-up by the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, since assuming office. The officers were alleged to have deducted about N20 ,000 each from the salaries of the rank and file, while the pay vouchers of senior officers were muddled up in a manner that would make it difficult to know the actual monthly take home pay. Police officers from Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Lagos and two other state commands were said to have been invited to the Force Headquarters to write statements on the illegal deductions from the salaries of their colleagues and other senior officers. A source told THE PUNCH that the officers connived with a very senior officer in the Budget Office at the Force Headquarters to perpetrate the scam which was noted to have been a common occurrence in the police whenever there is an increase in salaries. The source said, "Many officers who observed the anomalies in their payment vouchers have been writing petitions. We discovered that some people were paid more than others and this made us to be suspicious that the pay officers must have siphoned part of our salaries. The officers are being quizzed now." When contacted, the Acting Force Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajayi denied the alleged scam, saying that it was just mere rumour. http://odili.net/news/source/2010/oct/26/814.html |
From your statements it's obvious y'all know nothing about your airforce. |
Seems the cat has 'cut' some people's tongues, or may be they're brooding from recently suffered pain. Let's just say they've got football malaria if anybody asks. |
enemies have been emasculated. |
^ only boring ? More like pathetic, hopeless, worthless and pointless thread. |
you certainly woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning . |
Whether lucky o, abi na locker o, 3 points and +3 goals added to the stats. I don't know why but i'm beginning to like Chamakh, he doesn't harbour any fear for the opposition defence when running at them. I wish he could learn to shoot on sighting goal and not adopt that infamous in-the-box passing we're Known for. PS: Sagna was the ish last nite, he and Nasri made our right wing/their left extinct for City . |
i don't understand this glo thing. Is there an ip address and port i have to use together with the gloflat so i can access my micro bundle ? My 1k is just going to waste. I think MTN is miles ahead of all these networks cos their own things are automatic and sharp, sharp. Even though a bit expensive i'll stick with mTN cos this glo is all talk no action |
Thursday, October 21 , 2010 Disquiet in IBB, Atiku Saraki’s camps By Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja The endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by four governors and leaders of North-Central is currently causing disquiet in the camps of three other presidential aspirants — Gen. Ibrahim Babangida; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Dr. Bukola Saraki. Babangida, who is also a former military President and Saraki, the current governor of Kwara State, are from the zone. The governors’ decision is said to have jolted the former dictator and other aspirants. The leaders of the zone, including the four governors — Gabriel Suswan (Benue), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Ibrahim Idris (Kogi) and Aliyu Doma (Nasarawa) — met at the official residence of the Senate President, Mr. David Mark, in Abuja on Tuesday. They said after the meeting that they had agreed to support Jonathan and his deputy, Alhaji Namadi Sambo for the Peoples Democratic presidential ticket in 2011. The other leaders of the zone at the meeting were the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Bala Mohammed; his counterpart in Sports, Alhaji Isa Bio; the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Baba Agale; as well as former national chairmen of the PDP, Chief Bernabas Gemade and Dr. Ahmadu Ali. Senator Tunde Ogbeha; the Minister of state for Information and Communications, Mr. Laban Maku; his counterparts in the Niger Delta and Interior ministries, Mr. Sam Ode; and Mr. Humphrey Abba, were also in attendance. Our correspondents learnt that the strategists in the camps of Babangida, Abubakar and Saraki met separately in Abuja on Wednesday and Thursday to plan on how to counter the decision by the North-Central leaders. None of the members of their campaign teams was ready to speak officially on the matter when our correspondent went round their offices. But a source in one of the camps said, “We were surprised at the development but you know in politics, you must continue to strategise. We have met and we have worked out ways to checkmate the so-called leaders of the zone.” An associate of Abubakar, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, however, said the position of Mark and others were meant to mislead the President and his deputy. Kwande, in an email statement advised Jonathan and Sambo not to fall for the “antics of Mark,” who he said, was laying claims to a political clout he did not have in the North Central He added that the President of the Senate did not have the political influence to deliver any zone to the President. Kwande described the leaders of the zone who met in Mark’s house as a “coterie of influence peddlers.” According to him, the Middle Belt cannot speak with one voice in a moment of political crisis, let alone single out one leader capable of dictating the thinking and minds of the entire North-Central. Also reacting to the governors’ position, Saraki said as one of the leading presidential aspirants of the PDP, it was out of place for anyone to call on him to withdraw. He said Mark and his “co-travellers” could had realised that he (Saraki) was a threat to Jonathan’s ambition. A statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of ABS, Alhaji Garbadeen Mohammed, said, “We view this statement as misleading and a reflection of the growing panic from those who feel threatened by Saraki’s increasing acceptability, not only in the North Central, but across the entire country. “For record purposes, at no time before, during and after the meeting was any call made by any of those present for Saraki to withdraw from the presidential race. “This much has been confirmed at least by two of the governors who were at the meeting. Consequently, the press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the President of the Senate is a complete distortion of what transpired at the meeting.” The statement went ahead to commend the Senate for throwing away the President’s bill seeking a fresh amendment to the Electoral Act. He said, “The Senate’s decision to reject the changes is in line with the popular wishes of Nigerians and will go a long way in strengthening our democracy.” Meanwhile, Jonathan has reacted to the claim by Mallam Adamu Ciroma that the North would frustrate his 2011 presidential ambition. In a statement by the Director, Media and Publicity of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, Mr. Sully Abu, the President advised Ciroma not to play God. He said that the least Nigerians expected from a man of Ciroma’s stature was to help build the country and repair ethnic and sectional faults. The statement reads, “Alas, Ciroma has taken on a rather divisive role. Insisting that he is speaking for the North, he has been playing the politics of division in a way which would not edify the country’s unity. “This insistence flies in the face of overwhelming evidence of the yearning of all Nigerians, including those Ciroma said he is speaking for, to see change in the way this country is governed and especially in their material condition.” On zoning, Jonathan said the circumstances of his ascension to the Presidency and because of his legitimate ambition he was entitled to contest just as other aspirants. “Any loyal party man should have the discipline to abide by the decision of the party,” he added. http://odili.net/news/source/2010/oct/22/898.html |
Ed, was wondering when someone would come with that ten man excuse. I repeat we will still have beaten them with 11 men. This was as someone rightly said vintage arsenal especially second half. And btw didn't they return yaya to midfield at a point. Against cesc on a mission? He wan die? He was ineffectiv they sent him back. Nasri thoroughly humilated barry today, I wish somone will make those clip thingy. Over and over again. As at 60 mins, the city players were totally dead beat. How do you get the ball off Arsenal in a game where are midfield was top notch? We came into the half with 4 yellow and still whooped them in the middle. That is not beans at all. Against a collection of over 6 ft mandingos. Abeg ogbon ju agbara lo jare. Still one more time ONE TIME FOR LUKASZ!!! where would you play Nasri? who would you leave out at his expense and why?I'd fit him right in the hole that'd be left after that Unbelievably unpredictable Russian has been shipped back to Siberia ![]() |
Me is not shouting hurrah just yet cos ten man city is not the best test for assessing your team. I thought Clichy was a fast runner but Richards got me thinking other wise. We were lucky Yaya was thrown back into defence after that incident if not i don't think that Midfield would have had a field against the physicality of Toure and Jong. At the end of the day 3 points and 3 goals against City no be beans |
Yawn ! Just wondering if anyone has got questions for to ask over the weekends events ![]() |
League Fri. 22 FT Hamburg SV 0 - 0 Bayern Munich 57 ,000 German Bundesliga How many goals did 'Super' mario score last night? |
The arabs i normally see are the hordes of beggars that stand under the scorching sun near the central market in kd. I feel pity for those women and children, but that's Nigeria for you. |
http://thegreengooner.com/?p=1030http://thegreengooner.com/?p=1030 Arsenal Is the Model For Club Ownership: Highlights From the 2010 AGM BY THEGREENGOONER – OCTOBER 21 , 2010 POSTED IN: ARSENAL , HOT READS updates were made available on Twitter and a summary of most of what was said is contained below as well as my thoughts. According to Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill- Wood, the only debt the club owes is a mortgage on the Emirates Stadium and debentures which are both long term. I believe this is good news for the long term financial stability of the club as the club is under no pressure to repay such loans unlike is the case at Liverpool and Manchester Utd. CEO Ivan Gazidis stated that the Arsenal shareholders do not ask for dividend and as such, the club does not rely on “ outside investment” for success. Was this a thinly veiled shot at the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City with financial sugar daddies bankrolling the club? The Arsenal model is an entirely self sustaining one and as he said Arsenal are looked on as the model for how things should be done stressing that that good financial results are not the primary objective, but that everything we do is consistent with standards and values that Arsenal represent and that there is a growing movement towards responsible ownership. In addition he spoke with pride about the likes of Vic Akers and Ken Friar whom he described as always looking forward. . . . .Here we go again ![]() |
I said it once and i'll say it again, THE BUNDESLIGA IS A FRONT BAYERN USES TO TRICK EUROPE INTO BELIEVING THAT THERE ACTUALLY IS A LEAGUE IN THAT COUNTRY, WHAT A JOKE OF A LEAGUE. Even Real Madrid under Franco had some real opposition. |

This is not about tribal bashing, we've been taken on a ride by a devious mind. |
How can the govt keep paying them when we all know NITEL has not been functioning for almost a decade now. Those useless people who overcharged and were so rude to customers who wanted to settle bills. Let them get a taste of their medicine. |
Lol . You like to play with snakes ? Then prepare to get bitten a lot ![]() |
clash of interest&will have to adopt opportunity cost. Bayern is my team, but 2 moro night, i want to watch Milan vs madrid cos of oezil. I'm still undecided. I dont like a bayern team without klose. I love the guy.Klose ? Dude that guy hasn't done ish for Bayern, you would even said Ozil. |
Arsenal fans are not petty, so that means we don't taunt people who are down. In the spirit of the Arsenal fan i'll offer some encouraging words to all Bayern and Liverpool fans who're are virtually in the same boat, "you'll never wall alone" ![]() |
Cheap stunt, where did he get th money from. Nigerians should be asking such basic questions. Former Customs man, turn VP.Lol , even messengers of local govt chairmen can give you that amount. That being said, it took GEJ's criticism on face book for him to actually do something about the victims, hypocrites. He was in kano on saturday to launch his campaign office. |
