Arshavin has been poor this season, i suspect he'll use this match to find his form if le boss start's him |
Heheheheh let me leave market question till next week. |
Pix of the eruption from mount otupko.
|
Wow ! volcano in Benue ? First time we've had such around these parts. |
Poverty!Which poverty ? While i'm not denying the state of poverty in our land, i doubt that's the only reason that whale was dismembered so quickly. Afterall Japan is the second wealthiest nation on this globe and i'm sure same would have happened there. |
@monkeyleg The thing is we all know where the country's problems lay. Nigerian politicians are the most unrepentant crooks on the face of this planet and i doubt if the destruction of a few buildings will cause them to change. |
The problem is that the story is not detailed enough with evidence. If one carried this story forward you might be looked at as a retard by superiors. |
Whether you're support of the bombings or not is your cup of tea. My say is that they shouldn't kill innocent civilians or security people still keeping this country in peace, because if those guys abandon their jobs i tell you we'd be worse than Somalia. |
Don't know if the story is funny or sad. |
See partial pple overseeing NL. its only bayerns match thats not worthy of a thread for tonights ucl match? From owner to moderators everything they know is Epl/la liga. A league with best stadia followership in the world isnt deserving a mention?Aside yourself and hannibal, who else on NL watches the german toy story ? |
^ Nice piece shabbie , sounded like a staind number. Unfortunately some lunatics will now try to connect our nostalgia, one way or the other, with "failure" . It's not easy being an Arsenal fan ![]() |
English club that barely qualified for champs league did comfortably last night what perennial German champions couldn't do (even if they turn back the hands of time)a few weeks back. |
Some political historians say it was Abiola will ![]() |
Saidsalla his visit wasn't just to commission a single hospital ward, he was at kumbotso to commission new PHCN facilities for power transmission in the country. The movement of security personnel was same as it would been if he visited his village. There's internal tension in kano as we speak because former governor kwankaso of pdp is trying to return as governor. |
Definitely IBB |
Mbeki where's the link to this story ? Or did you just draft it in your toilet like becomerich ? |
Spanish what ? Do we speak spanish on NL ? nairaland is English hence the coverage of EPL |
Minister petitions Sambo IG’s call to scrap NSCDC Minister petitions Sambo over IG’s call to scrap NSCDC Gbenga Omokhunu, Abuja 29 /10 / 2010 01 :10 : 00 Minister of Interior Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho has petitioned Vice-President Namadi Sambo and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen. Owoye Azazi, over the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Hafiz Ringim’s call that the Federal Government should scrap the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Ringim had claimed that NSCDC’s functions overlap with those of the police. He said some sections of the 2007 Act of the NSCDC contravened Section 214( 1) of the 1999 Constitution. It was also reported that the police frowned at the use of fire arms by men of the NSCDC. The minister’s petition, entitled: “Publication calling for the scrapping of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) by the IGP,” said: “I am informed that the Federal Government has set up a committee to examine the allegation made by the IGP. I, therefore, hope that this committee will do a thorough and dispassionate job to ensure that the overall interest of the country will guide whatever decision is taken on the matter. “It is on record that the vice-president has commended the NSCDC as a vibrant organisation whose role cannot be under-estimated, especially, in the protection of the nation’s national assets and infrastructure. “For the avoidance of doubt and without any inhibition, the misconception and erroneous impression about the NSCDC should be corrected once and for all. The NSCDC is a body created by an Act of Parliament, the NSCDC Act 2 , 2003 as amended by the 2007 Act. “The call by the IGP to scrap NSCDC questions the wisdom and authority of the National Assembly as enshrined under Section 4 of 1999 Constitution to make laws for peace, order and good governance of the federation. http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/news/17351.html |

This all bodes well for deliberative democracy, except that the nature, tenor, and compass of most of the discussions that take place in digital Nigeria give cause for a little worry. Go to the comments page of a typical article in, say Sahara Reporters or the Nigerian Village Square, on any issue. You will be petrified by the unnervingly savage profusion of unspeakably raw, undiluted ethnic and religious chauvinism that pass for comments. The display of baleful and willful ignorance is often so thick you can cut it with a knife. If readers don’t agree with a writer’s point of view—or, in fact, if they merely don’t like his/ her name! —they almost always ignore the substance of his argument and launch vicious attacks on his ethnicity, religion, and region. And, of course, they never forget to add that he or she is a paid hack of some politician. In the twisted opinion of much of the contemporary Nigerian Internet commentariat, no opinion is the product of any individual’s independent analytical or discursive choice; it’s always already inspired either by primordial loyalties or by pecuniary gratification—or both! The only “objective” and “balanced” opinions are those that reinforce and give comfort to the commenters’ prejudices and biases. Although there are the occasional sane, measured, and thoughtful comments on articles and news stories, they are often, for the most part, drowned out by the primitive cacophony of rank ignorance and bigotry that now pass for “comments” on Nigerian-based Web sites. Every issue is gazed at from the crude prismLOLing my as$ out , this means all that crap about nlers not being as members of other nigerian forums is utter rubbish. Hurrah for nl ! |

Gunmen Kill Ex-FRSC Chief, gateman Gunmen yesterday killed a retired Assistant Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Dr. Adol Nwachukwu in Imo State. Nwachukwu, who retired from the commission some years ago, was shot at a close range by his killers Thursday night as he was returning from a social visit to his ancestral home in Ehime Mbano local council of Imo State. Unidentified gunmen shot also a gateman simply known as Ebo, last night. According to sources, the gunmen had come and asked after the boss of the deceased, Marcus Ebiziem. When it became apparent to them that the latter had escaped, they emptied some bullets on the deceased, killing him on the spot. A top official of the FRSC in Imo State confirmed the killing of Nwachukwu to The Guardian yesterday. He said: “It is true my brother. I am returning from there now. A retiree, he was just returning from a visit last night and these people stopped him and pointed a gun at his vehicle, which looks like a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). They pointed the gun at his throat at a close range and killed him there. His body has been deposited at a mortuary. You know he would have become the corps marshal of the commission but age was not on his side.” The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Mr. Linus Nwaiwu, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) told The Guardian that he was not aware of the development but regretted that it happened. His words: “It is not to my knowledge. It is unfortunate.” Gunmen had killed a House of Representatives aspirant in Ideato North, Nze Sunny Ogbu, early this week near his hometown. In the same vein, yet-to-be identified persons also killed a female supermarket owner, Mrs. Amaka Onyeagwu, last Tuesday near her home in Owerri. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=27510:gunmen-kill-ex-frsc-chief-gateman-in-imo-&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
